  1. hi all, i have an issue when i am idling at traffic lights. As and when, i will feel a shuddering shiver from the engine bay. Worst when i on the aircon. Then if i move in low speed, i will be jerking badly. I used to have this problem then i changed the ignition coil. All is fine only for a few weeks and the problem came back again. Anyone have any ideas what is going on?
  2. Would like to find out from current Diesel Engine car owners your feedback on reliability? Is the maintenance cost high? So far any problem with your Diesel engine? DPF blocked? Any such encounter?
  3. Hi All, I did like to find out if anyone have used before cxxxxxe engine oil. I know it is lowly price and as the saying goes good things not cheap and cheap things not good. However i believe there are quite a number of people using them and if it's really lousy i think carefour wont want to bring in to tanish their name. Just like to know if anyone have any experience with the oil on a turbo engine?? I am thinking of using it for say another 7,500 km only after which i will need to do a oil change. Any opinions or feedbacks?

  5. http://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/mazda-announces-breakthrough-in-long-coveted-engine-technology/ar-AApIOMK?li=BBnbfcL&ocid=mailsignout Mazda announces breakthrough in long-coveted engine technology Mazda Motor Corp said it would become the world's first automaker to commercialise a much more efficient petrol engine using technology that deep-pocketed rivals have been trying to engineer for decades, a twist in an industry increasingly going electric. The new compression ignition engine is 20 percent to 30 percent more fuel efficient than the Japanese automaker's current engines and uses a technology that has eluded the likes of Daimler AG and General Motors Co. A homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine ignites petrol through compression, eliminating spark plugs. Its fuel economy potentially matches that of a diesel engine without high emissions of nitrogen oxides or sooty particulates. Mazda's engine employs spark plugs under certain conditions, such as at low temperatures, to overcome technical hurdles that have hampered commercialisation of the technology. Executive Vice President Akira Marumoto called Mazda's engine technology the automaker's "heart". The engine is called SKYACTIV-X and Mazda had no plans to supply the engine to other carmakers, Marumoto said.
  6. Understand Direct fuel injection (DFI) engine requests higher petrol grade, can advis what grade is suitable? Heard most Jap automakers output models w/o (DFI) due to most countries fuel grade is not suitable for DFI engine, include Singapore?
  7. The silver lining is the rest of the people on the plane survived... Can't imagine what went through their mind from the time it happened, until the time the plane managed to land... http://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-states/southwest-plane-makes-emergency-landing-in-philly-damage-to-exterior Southwest Airlines plane's engine explodes in mid-air; woman passenger killed after nearly sucked out of window PHILADELPHIA (REUTERS) - An engine on a Dallas-bound Southwest Airlines flight with 149 people aboard apparently exploded on Tuesday (April 17), forcing an emergency landing in Philadelphia as one passenger was killed after she was nearly sucked out a window of the plane, the airline and federal officials said. The fatality on the flight from New York was the first in a US commercial aviation accident since 2009, according to National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) statistics. After an engine on the plane's left side blew, it threw off shrapnel, shattering a window and causing cabin depressurisation that nearly pulled out a female passenger, according to witness accounts and local news media reports.
  8. I drive a honda ridgeline pickup truck and my wife drive a honda civic. I've been looking for a decent jumpstarter that would be powerful enough for both of our vehicles. Rather then having 2 various models it just seemed easier to get two identical units. After reading reviews on several various jump-starters I opted for this model. Now the most negative thing I could find about this thing was it lacked a flat charger so you couldn't leave it plugged in. For me that's not even a factor, after all I bought this to charge it and then put it in the trunk of my wifes car and in the cargo area of my truck. I don't intend on leaving this plugged in. So if you plan on using this HOW IT IS DESIGNED then you too don't even need to worry about the lack of a float charger. That being said, the unit itself is a bit heavy, imagine picking up really big battery, that's essentially what this is. It has some weight to it. The jumpstarter itself also features an interesting little light that pivots as well as an air compressor. I've heard/read back reviews on the air compressor, for me it's not why I bought it. But initial checks it looks like it works fine and even has somewhere to store the air hose which is really nice. The one negative I have on this thing is the power switch for the air compressor is on the back and is not protected. In other words it could in theory be flipped on and drain the battery. So when you need to jump your car the starter would be dead. I wish they put a cover or moved the switch but honestly it would take a perfect mistake for that to get turned on so it's really not that critical. To prevent this from potentially happening I actually went down to Target and bought 2 milk crates, one for me and one for my wife. I put a jump starter, first aid kit, oil, etc in the crate so it's essentially the roadside emergency crate and also protects the jumpstarter from getting knocked around and/or turned on. Overall I spent $140 total on 2 of these and I'm really happy with the quality. They charge overnight easily, the indicator lights show you the charge remaining on the battery and it has power ports for 12volt and USB which is an added bonus. If you need a jumpstarter I would definitely consider this one.
  9. Hi All, Like to seek advise from bros/sis here, the Engine and AT light turned on earlier this year (Jan) and I cleared it using torque. It happened once in a while then, so I visited a workshop and they recommended changing the AT oil and monitor which I did. (car mounted kerb few weeks before, so not sure if it can cause this although we didn't see any physical damage undercarriage) Btw the gearbox was replaced with a recon unit when I extended the COE in end 16. It seemed ok until recently (start of this month), both lights will turn on whenever I move off from the carpark at the start of the day. The gear shifting is a little jerky from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3 and then stucked at gear 3 where the lights will turn on. I will then clear the error and continue driving (sometimes it happened another 2-3 times) and once it managed to hit gear 4, then everything will be fine. I noticed this happens when the car is parked for quite some time(I seldom drive the car).If I had been driving around for the day, then the chances of the lights coming up is very low. The error code is P0715 which points Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit. As the error became consistent, I sent it to two workshops to check 2 days ago and both told me that chances is the ECU and the worst case is the gear box. But after googling around, some say is the TCM which sound more logical. Thus, I would like to seek opinions from experts here whether it is more of an electrical or mechanical fault and if there are any good workshops to recommend. (these 2 workshops say it's not the speed sensor which the error code indicated though) Thanks!
  10. Zenvo TSR-S arrives with 1177bhp flat-plane crank V8https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motor-shows-geneva-motor-show/zenvo-tsr-s-arrives-1177bhp-flat-plane-crank-v8 Zenvo has unveiled a new track-focused, road-legal hypercar called the TSR-S that uses a ramped up version of its flat-plane crank V8 putting out 1177bhp. On show at the Geneva motor show, the mid-engined two-door has 14bhp more than the TS1 GT it is based on, with an all-carbonfibre body built over a steel and aluminium monocoque. Zenvo's 5.8-litre engine uses a trio of superchargers to offer muscular performance, enabling a 0-62mph time of 2.8sec and 0-124mph time of 6.8sec - identical to the McLaren Senna - in the TSR-S. Top speed is limited to 202mph. The car features a new exterior design with race-inspired aerodynamics, with the key component for downforce an active rear wing. To keep weight down, the cabin features only the bare essentials, so there's no airconditioning, radio or airbags. Instead, there are carbon seats and six-point harnesses. Pricing is unconfirmed but likely to be in excess of the £1.2 million Zenvo charges for the TS1 GT. Small production numbers will go some way to justify that - Zenvo produces just five cars per year from its facility in Præstø, Denmark. The car's powertrain can be set through three modes that adjust power from 700bhp to its peak output. Drive for the 1495kg TSR-S is sent through a seven-speed paddle-shift gearbox with straight-cut gears.

  13. How Bardahl Asia Pacific do their customer service My friends are using Bardahl Oil for our engine in the past few years and this year we stopped it. Because two engines have break down with this oil, we took some old oil and new oil to do some test. And the result coming out is not good. SN 5W-40 Old oil (We save some oil before we change the oil) Kinematic Viscosity, mm2/s @ 100C : 13.9 CCS @ -30C, cP : 5390 Pour Point, C : -39 TBN, mg KOH/g : 6.94 Phosphorus content % : 0.073 SN 5W-40 New oil (We bought some new oil from store) Kinematic Viscosity, mm2/s @ 100C : 14.36 CCS @ -30C, cP : 6350 Pour Point, C : -36 TBN, mg KOH/g : 9.31 Phosphorus content % : 0.157 With all the API standard, these two oils are in spec. However, we put 4L new oil into my engine and after running 5000km my engine alarm light is on. I go check with the repair shop about it, there are 2L oil left in the engine and the oil is extremely dark and sticky with mud. Few of my friends have this issue also, two of their engine have break down with this oil. We ask the Bardahl office what happen with their oil and they keep pushing all the response away and sent us different report about their oil don’t have any problems. We know that if there is a problem with a single car, we can let it go and try to fix it. However, there are more cars having these problems in these few months. And the Bardahl office accidentally cc me this email below during the conversation. From: seetho [mailto:[email protected]] To: marine yeo Dear Marine, Next time, remember, don’t start the conversation by denying our responsibility out right (and of course can’t admit also) and just push away our responsibility before the actual cause is identified/determined. We have to remain neutral until we know the root cause (which in many cases very difficult to determine). That’s why I said “according to the context”. Tell them that we will test the used oil samples, check our retain sample before we can conclude anything. At the same time, 顺便 tell them other possible causes that may lead to the problem. Thanks, See Tho After received this email, I ask for explanation of their attitude for solving the case and the they just make up a lot of excuses to avoid the oil and the email problems. I just ask all my friends to stop using their oil. This is a very terrible experience for us and for everyone who are using their oil, they sent us a lot of fake report to prove their oil is fine but I don’t believe it. And we are not going to use this oil anymore. Please be careful while choosing your engine oil.
  14. For those who DIY oil change, where do you dispose of your used engine oil? Is there an 'oil bank' where the used oil can be deposited for recycling, or would any garage accept the oil with a fee?

  23. Hi All, Just need to check if the following scenario is normal (coz i never encounter this for my past 2 cars): After turning off the engine of my car, I walked out and hear a fan running.....then i opened my bonnet and the fan seems be from the radiator (the bigger one, if i m not wrong...coz carpark quite dark)! I tried to turn on the engine again n turn it off......but the fan is still running. I only managed to stop it after stepping on the accelator a few times. Is this normal?? or is there something wrong with my A5??
  24. Just saw someone doing that in the car park....
