    E90 facelift

Due for Frankfurt Motorshow Oct this year. The nose look like a hybrid of E46 and E92 coupe. Also reportedly, the interior will be refreshed and engine range improved. Is it enough to beat the B8 A4 and W204 C-class?

  3. I've always been iffy on the way the RX-8 looks. Too many curves that don't flow with one another. After the facelift, it's just about the same. Only just a little more messy. But I really love the paintjob though. Really gorgeous colour.

  7. Was just wondering... What's the difference between a "model change" and a "facelift"? Like Mazda 3 change to Mazda 3 sp is which one? Because only the outlook change, and the engine never change. So can I assume that its a facelift only? Many other examples too... Corolla LX change to XLi Toyota Vios E to Toyota Vios J Can some one enlighten?

  13. With the old subaru, it looked like it was designed by a sanitary pad designer. It's curves were so abrupt and the front looks like a winged pad... Now Subaru goes one big round, and came back with a SUV which looks like a chrysler grand voyager on high heels. At least the new backside looks better now.. car manufacturers can take note of their interior though, spankingly delicious :) Previously on my SUV choice list, the tribeca was probably ranked abt the same as a vacuum cleaner on a car list. But due to its redesign, it's gone a notch up to skip above the CRV. Now I can safely say, i won't mind buying the tribeca, but only if there was no CX7, Rav4, Outlander, Pajero, cayenne, captiva, touareg and landrovers. Like the WRX, Subaru seems to be throwing models into the market without any thought on the design. A good example will be the WRX, 4 model changes in the past decade, and all looks different !! The pug nose didn't look good to me at first, but it really grew on me after a while. But the 05 model looks best still..
  14. http://timewarp.autoblog.com/2006/06/07/ma...azda3-in-japan/ Mazda Motor announced Tuesday that the newest version of its Axela model (known as the Mazda3 elsewhere) will go on sale later this month in the Japanese domestic market. The Axela and Axela Sport are joined by the Mazdaspeed Axela (pictured above, this model is the Mazdaspeed3 in North America and the Mazda3 MPS in Europe, Australia and New Zealand). More pics and info after the jump... The freshened Axelas (Axelae?) are intended to be "dynamic sporty compacts that further exceed your expectations," with enhancements to exterior and interior styling and dynamic performance. From our perspective, the best news is the addition of an all-wheel-drive model for the first time. On the outside, the Axela gets redesigned front and rear fascia, new alloy wheels ranging up to 17 inches for the Sport and 18 inches for the Mazdaspeed version, a rear roof spoiler and side skirts. LED taillights appear on some models. The interior gets a materials upgrade, along with optional leather and a new optional instrument package. An MP3-enabled eight-speaker Bose sound system is an available option. Powertrain upgrades include the introduction of an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission (the Activematic) for the 2- and 2.3-liter models, and the addition of sequential valve timing for the 2-liter engine to give better low-end performance. All models receive a drive-by-wire throttle. The new all-wheel-drive option is currently available only with the 2-liter powerplant, and features an Active Torque Split AWD System to dynamically distribute power between the front and rear wheels depending on conditions. The Mazdaspeed model (still FWD-only) gets the MZR 2.3-liter DISI turbo (shown below), good for about 260 hp and 280 foot-pounds of torque, driving through a six-speed manual. A new addition is a torque-sensing limited slip differential, to help deal with torque steer. The Mazdaspeed also gets exclusive aero enhancements, including a front spoiler, floating rear spoiler and streamlined underfloor. [source: Mazda]

  17. Brought to you by the letter Kei: Mitsubishi's new eK Wagon and eK Sport Posted Sep 13th 2006 4:12PM by Alex Nunez Filed under: Economy, Wagons/Estates, Japan, Mitsubishi New kei cars are fun to cover. The impossibly small yet practical Japanese minicars manage to cram a lot of style and usability into a tight package. Mitsubishi's eK Wagon series has been a strong seller since its introduction in 2001, and the redesigned version (on sale today across Japan) looks to build on that success. The new eK boasts a power sliding door on the driver's passenger side, a first for "bonnet-type" minicars. ("Bonnet-type" simply means the car's nose protrudes in the traditional sense.) The system uses hidden door rails, keeping the small exterior nice and tidy. Obviously, with small, tall wagons, there's not a lot you can do, stylewise, but Mitsubishi does a good job, giving the eK Wagon a clean look with friendly face. The eK Sport gets sterner features up front, and muscles up with front and rear spoilers, sill extensions, and 14" alloys. Inside, the staid eK Wagon gets a grey and beige interior, while the eK Sport gets done up in all black. Optional Recaros can dress up the Sport even further. Both cars can be fitted with upgraded stereos, nav and other convenience features. (Continues after the jump. Pics, press release follow as well) [source: Mitsubishi] The eK is a kei car, so the presence of a 660cc engine should come as no surprise. The normally-aspirated version in the eK wagon makes 50 hp, and the turbocharged eK Sport R (the eK Sport X gets the base engine) pumps out 64 horses. As is usually the case with these types of cars, both 2WD and AWD versions are available. Depending on trim level, the cars can be fitted with a 5-speed manual, 3-speed auto, or 4-speed auto. The new eK is a nice, traditional counterweight to its radical-looking kei sibling, the i. In the case of the eK Sport R, we'd go so far as to say it's pretty damn cool. Be on the lookout for a Nissan-branded version as well. It's already been announced that Mitsubishi will supply Nissan with eK wagons to be and sold under a different name. The current Nissan Otti is a rebadged version of the previous-gen Mitsubishi eK. At the end of the photo gallery below, we've included shots of the outgoing eK and its Nissan doppleganger. (i removed liaoz.. SAME SHAPE means same shape, waste time... lolz) Update: Our friends at Autoblog Green weigh in on the cleaner-burning engine in the normally-aspirated eK models. PHOTOS eK Wagon: eK Sport: PRESS RELEASE: Mitsubishi Motors launches new eK Wagon & eK Sport - "Great minicar wagon": Bringing a smile to one and all - Tokyo, September 13, 2006 - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today launched fully redesigned eK Wagon and eK Sport models at affiliated dealerships throughout Japan on September 13, 2006. Developed to a "convenience", "peace-of-mind" and "feel-good" theme, features distinguishing the new eK series include a power sliding door, the first on a bonnet-type passenger minicar, and a comprehensive small-item storage and utility specification that offers outstanding usability. Tax inclusive prices for 2WD and 4WD eK Wagon models range from 913,500 yen to 1,222,200 yen, and for 2WD and 4WD eK Sport models from 1,260,000 yen to 1,484,700 yen. The first eK series debuted in October 2001. It was developed to establish a generation- and gender-transcending "minicar standard" that would enjoy the support of a wide spectrum of users. Features defining the concept and readily embraced by its broad customer base include its "simple, clean and basic" design, its "semi-tall packaging" that is just right for easy ingress/egress and for Japan's multi-level tower car parks and its comprehensive equipment and amenities specification that gives careful attention to owner needs. These selling points drove total eK series sales over 480,000 units to make it one of Mitsubishi Motors best selling models. Development of the second generation eK Wagon and eK Sport was directed at retaining and evolving the well-received "practical and basic minicar standard" position that defined the first series. Taking its cue from Mitsubishi Motors "Back to the basics of car building excellence" stance, the company conducted extensive research to obtain a detailed understanding of latent needs in a broad spectrum of current and potential owners and users. The research included: conventional user clinics; behavioral studies of consumers at supermarket car parks; interviews with parents at children's class meetings; and interviewing pet owners and vets at veterinary surgeries. The research led to a number of "discoveries" that had gone unobserved to date and related to unexpected instances of joy, happiness and dissatisfaction on the part of minicar users. These discoveries are reflected in the Multi-position Utility system that allows the interior to be easily customized and other "evolving" changes as well as in the "deepening" detail improvements made to component and parts. The new eK brings a real smile to the driver and passengers as they feel for themselves the evolution in the "convenience," "peace-of-mind" and "feel-good" elements that make it the "great minicar wagon" and the daily life partner it is. The new eK delivers category-topping levels of environmental performance. The use of a new catalytic converter sees naturally aspirated engine models earn 4-star ratings for emissions that are 75% lower than the requirements of the Japanese 2005 Emission Regulations, while intercooler/turbocharged models earn 3-star rating for emissions that are 50% lower than the requirement. Using a deodorizing head lining and Clean Air Filter with odor-remover the new eK meets in advance the standards laid down in JAMA's Voluntary Requirements of VOC*1 Levels. Other features contributing to its pleasant and comfortable interior include the use of Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified seat fabric and solar control glass. ------- the chairs look a tad cheapo though. dun think it will b a fun compared to the "i". thanks god they still hv a steering wheel. otherwise the front dashboards looks like .... ahem.
  18. Premature release: 2007 Honda CR-V debuts a bit early Posted Aug 26th 2006 1:31AM by John Neff Filed under: SUVs, Crossovers/CUVs, Honda AutoWeek decided to pull back the curtain early on the 2007 Honda CR-V and publish pictures and details of the new CUV that the automaker had placed on embargo until September 1st. We've seen this happen so many times before, and not just by small blogs and websites who don't know any better, but by big media outlets like AutoWeek, that at this point we find it hard to believe they did it without permission directly from Honda. Automakers are getting more and more savvy about building buzz that it just wouldn't surprise us, that's all. We had a call into Honda this afternoon as well, and we weren't that surprised when no one called back. Anyway, official shots of the CR-V had already been leaked onto the internet about five days ago, and undisguised spy shots have been floating around for even longer, so the new CR-V's skin is anything but surprising at this point. The gaping void below the front grille and the severely sloping outline of the rear side windows are still polarizing design elements whose acceptance will now be at the mercy of the market. What we do know now that we didn't before is that the CR-V will have a base price of $21,400 when it goes on sale in October. Option up the CR-V with a satellite navigation system and 270-watt stereo and the sticker will approach $28,000. The sole powerplant remains Honda's 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder, albeit upgraded for 2007 to produce an additional 10 horsepower (now 166 horsepower/161 ft-lbs. of torque), and no manual will be offered this time around, just a five-speed automatic. Though the CR-V's styling hasn't made the best first impression on us, we will say that Honda could be making a very shrewd move by not following the trend of dropping a powerful V6 into its tiniest of utes. The CR-V's 2.4-liter four will no doubt produce commendable gas mileage and operate at the typical level of Honda four-cylinder refinement. That combination could lead to big sales for the CR-V in these lean and green times. (Interior shot can be found after the jump) [source: AutoWeek] http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/26/prematu...ts-a-bit-early/ the front is definitely a joke. design does not couple to the body. looks like a chubby but obese kid on the block
  19. Hi all, Some updates from my SE. CA will be placing indents for the FL Superb soon. If there is no delay with the shipment, the new shipment should reach our shores in December. To cater to the preferences of serious Superb buyers, CA would like to gather information on the following: 1. Manual Transmission If there is a minimum order of 5 units, CA will place an order for the manual units. The manual model will need to go through LTA homologation. Cost is involved in this exercise. As such, 5 is the minimum quantity before CA deems feasible to bring in this model. Buyers of the manual Superb will have to place a deposit for the vehicle, which they must specify the choice of colour. 2. Beige Interior Latest update. The beige interior is only offered for Superb in Comfort trim and above. Nevertheless, CA is still discussion with the factory whether the beige interior option can be specified for our local Classic trim. 3. 21. Honda Announces an All-New Stream TOKYO, Japan, July 13, 2006 - Honda announced the release of an all-new Stream. Featuring a low-floor platform, the new Stream combines stylish compact exterior with a comfortable interior and powerful driving performance. With a low overall height of 1,545mm*, the new Stream has a modern dynamic look and fits conveniently into most restricted-height mechanical parking lots. The new Stream will go on sale from Friday, July 14 at Honda automobile dealers throughout Japan. The new, second-generation Stream is a 7-passenger car with the versatility and functionality to make getting around a true pleasure. Along with its vibrant, low-slung styling, it delivers total comfort and a feeling of integration wherever the driver and passengers come in contact with the vehicle - whether getting in and out, steering, throttle response, or changing the seat arrangements. Body frame rigidity has been enhanced for improved driving performance, and the front sub-pillars have been eliminated to attain a significant increase in visibility. The floor design has also been significantly improved to create a flat foot area from corner to corner and a significantly lower floor for the third row of seats. These innovations mean improved passenger comfort as well as a lower center of gravity for superior handling. Both powerplants-the newly developed 2.0l i-VTEC engine with CVT and the 1.8l i-VTEC engine with 5-speed automatic transmission-deliver powerful, smooth driving performance from low-to-mid speeds. The sporty RSZ, available in both 2.0-liter and 1.8-liter versions, comes equipped with 17-inch aluminum wheels and a custom-tuned suspension for extra driving enjoyment. The RSZ's custom aerodynamic parts, black interior, and other attractive design features combine to enhance the car's sporty driving image. All models have earned Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport certification as Low-Emissions Vehicles, with emission levels 75% lower than those required by 2005 standards, while the front-wheel-drive models exceed Japanese government fuel economy standards for 2010 by 10%. The new Stream is also available with the most advanced Honda safety technologies, including IHCC** (Intelligent Highway Cruise Control), which controls vehicle speed and distance to the car ahead to reduce the burden on the driver, and CMBS2 (Collision Mitigation Brake System) + E-pretensioners**, which uses millimeter wave radar technology to detect the possibility of a collision and then help avoid or reduce the force of the collision. * 4WD model height is 1,570mm (micro antenna excluded from both measurements). ** Available as a factory option on all FWD models Key Features of the New Stream Styling The new Stream's dynamic styling features an agile, low-slung form that expresses functional beauty reminiscent of a coupe.
  22. Dear All, Have just seen 35 units of the new optra discharged from vessel into the port today. Its a complete face lift. The front grille had been converted to those of optra5 and they have included the remote control on the steering wheel which, was earlier only found in the 1.8 l car. I felt so cheated when i refered to the brochure they gave and realised no remote on the steering when i collected my car. Checked with my sales executive, price now is $58988 for auto. The new face lift is expected to be $2k more than the current price. Comparing to the time i bought amlost the same @ $61k. Guess if you can wait.......y not wait for a while. Just for info . Have not been launch yet. No wonder i have not seen starsauto importing new stocks for the past 1-1.5 mth. They're trying to get rid of te current stock before bringing in the new face lift. If you can imagine, its the type you find on the cover page of your manual, showing the wagon verson. Hopefully they do not have the same fuel gauge , stalling, ....prob
