  2. Hi all, I'm hearing a knocking sound from my gearbox/clutch, whenever i change gear or step on the clutch. I'm driving a Nissan Sunny Manual(2003). Anybody out there knows what's going on? Thanks. Regards, Andrew

  6. Dear friends, been reading quite a lot of not-so-pleasant experiances with the service/expertise about some car agents. From salesman to technician, from new car that doesn't work to un-ability to fix something that have gone wrong. I can go on... seems like life's been good for them, particularly so as Singaporean loves their rides... we pay such "premium" for certain make of cars and are tied-down on the warranty to pay even more for some ridiculous labour charges etc, only to be told " why don't you come back if the problem comes back again" like as if we have all the time in the world to go back to them as and when we feel like it. Or " we can't find thing wrong with ... " . Again I can go on... I've had some sub-standard service before from KM, nothing too big to kick up a storm. But it seemed to me that the whole transaction is kind of one-sided the moment you sign on the paper. Do you guys..., and girls think it will work, if we as end-consumers write to the manufacturer to feedback on the service ( or the +#%%$$*% lack of it !!! )we are getting from their so-called agent. Do you think it will work ? Would you take the time and effort to write ? What do you guys think ? Thanks
  7. 1. You grew up watching He-man, Transformers, Silverhawk, Ultraman, Super Friends, Woody WoodPecker, Tom & Jerry, Care Bears, My Little Pony, Smurfs and Mickey Mouse. Not to forget, maybe Ninja turtles too. 2. You grew up brushing your teeth with a mug in primary school during recess time. You would squat by a drain with all your classmates beside you, and brush your teeth with a colored mug. The teachers said you must brush each side ten times. Not forgetting the silly red tablet which you know not the purpose for. 3. You know what SBC stands for. 4. You know in school, you could subscribe to get the milk which would come before you go back home. Some days you would get chocolate milk, other days strawberry. The old Magnolia fresh milk came in a triangular packet. 5. You were there when the first Chinese serial, The Awakening was shown on TV. 6. Everyone in class would tremble in fear when someone with a gauze stuck in the mouth came to your class and called out a name to go visit the school dentist. 7. You find your friends with pagers and handphone cool in secondary school. 8. SBS buses used to be non-airconditioned. The bus seats were made of wood and the cushion was red. The big red bell gave a loud BEEEP when pressed. There were colorful tickets for CSS buses. The conductor would check tickets using a machine that punched a hole in each ticket. All SBS buses used to be manually operated, with a gigantic gearstick to the left of the driver. 9. Your favorite actor and actress were Huang Wenyong and Xiang Yun. Next were Li Nanxing and Zoe Tay and the Aiyoyo woman (Chen Liping). 10. You

  10. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_760851.html plate of raw fish and julienned vegetables was all it took to reignite a 'food fight' between Singaporeans and Malaysians. Following food ownership debates over bak kut teh and Hainanese chicken rice, the bone of contention this time is the popular Chinese New Year dish yusheng. The hullabaloo first erupted at the northern end of the Causeway earlier this month, when Singaporean celebrity foodie K.F. Seetoh first drew attention to a finance and accounting professor's Facebook page that revolved around local heritage. Writing in his weekly food column in The New Paper on Jan 3, Mr Seetoh noted Professor Tan Wee Cheng's list of six things in Singapore that he would like to see entered on Unesco's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The items are the ritual and custom of serving yusheng, Singapore cuisine, Singlish, Nine Emperor Gods Festival, the yumseng ritual in weddings and getai performances. Yusheng is a raw fish salad served in a predetermined sequence, with the server reciting wishes of luck and prosperity evoked by the names of the ingredients used. But Prof Tan's suggestion quickly sparked strong protests from across the Causeway after it was reported in the Malaysian media, which is believed to have picked up Mr Seetoh's column. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yusheng Yusheng, yee sang or yuu sahng (Chinese: 鱼生; pinyin: y

  12. Seems like there is another kei car brought in by PIs. This time at a much more reasonable price ($42800) compared to the Suzuki Lapin ($57888). Comes with 2 airbags, power windows, a great alternative to the Perodua Kelisa 1.0A ($41999). I wonder what a 3-speed auto car will drive like Suzuki ALTO E AUTO $42,800 (4 bid COE at $16K, non guaranteed) TECHNICAL DATA Vehicle Type: Saloon Engine: K6A type 3 cylinders water cool Engine Capacity: 658 cc Transmission: 3 speed automatic PERFORMANCE Power/RPM: 54bhp/6500rpm Torque/RPM: 61N.m/4000rpm Suspension F/R: McPherson Strat type coil spring/coil spring Brakes F/R: Disk/Drum DIMENSIONS Length: 1,840mm Width: 1,260mm Height: 1,230mm Weight: 730kg FUEL Capacity: 30L Consumption: 20km/L http://www.sunauto.com.sg/showImg.aspx?Type=1&ContentType=image/jpeg&filename=5.jpg Link to the Suzuki Lapin thread: http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...=Lapin;#1970441

  15. Hi all, I am contemplating to change to a 2005 cefiro 2.3l. I used to drive my dad's cefiro 99 model. Tiink A32 model. Really miss the creamy smooth v6 engine. Remember the FC was 7-8km/l range. Tried to google ard for more fc info and got different feedbacks. Some got 6-7km/l, others got 9-11km/l. I am ok if it can average ard 8-9km/l. Anything more is bonus. Another concern is the maintenace. With the car ar its 6th yr, are there anything to look out for? The previous A32 was easy to maintain cos its very mechanical still but i dunno abt the 230jm. All inputs welcome..
  16. As a NS recruit, I did not know much about the Kota Tinggi details but later as a staff officer I had the opportunity to meet these personnel from 2SIR during the usual Friday Tombolo Night. At that time when Singapore was a part of Malaysia our two SIRs were renamed as 1MIR and 2MIR. 2SIR was operationally responsible for the Singapore and southern Johore area. 2MIR (2SIR) was raised in 1962 and billeted at Holland Road Camp. According to my superior who was then a young 2LTA in 2 SIR, Dalgit Singh was already a platoon commander, together with LTA Mejar Singh. 2SIR's CO was a Colonel Campbell, a British seconded from the British Army. It was the crack Indonesian paratroopers from the "KKI", an elite Guards unit from Jakarta which was sent on this mission. The Malaysian police post at Kota Tinggi were alerted of the parachute-landing and the nearest infantry garrison to Kota Tinggi was 2 SIR in Singapore. 1SIR at that time was deployed to the Sabah border with Indonesia. One platoon of 2SIR was sent inside the jungles of Kota Tingi. For those who have ventured into Kota Tinggi (which I did as a child and as a teenager), it has a waterfall as the key attraction. The killing zone was north of the waterfall. 2SIR made no contact with the Indonesians for about a week. However, unknowingly the Indonesians were tailing one of the SIR sections. Not finding them for a week, that section grew tired and went for a bath at one of the nearby Kota Tinggi streams. Everybody left their weapons at the riverbank with no personnel on sentry-duty. For those trained in the SAF doctrine, you are not supposed to do this and at all times, your rifle must be with you. The Indonesians pounded on our boys but one injured personnel managed to sneak away and ran for his life into Kota Tinggi Town. All this time, there was "radio silence" because this was a mission. It was only after the injured personnel emerged from the jungle that the incident became known. When the dead were recovered, their bodies were infested with maggots and were very gruesome Reinforcements were rushed up from Singapore. On that mission were names like James Teo (who was the 5SIR CO for BERSATU PADU in 1971), Jimmy Yap (CO Officer Cadet School), Mahinder Singh (Dy Director SAFTI) and Dalgit Singh (CO 3SIR). They were

  18. Chanced upon a promotional booth for this new line of tyres (maybe not so new considering how slow I am in catching up with motoring developments) in the middle of Orchard Rd today - Potenza S001 by Bridgestone. Direct comparisons are only between it and the Re050 which I have not used before - has anybody fitted these new rubbers yet and if so would you like to share your experience with us here? Currently on the RE11 and thinking of changing soon.. the S001 looks good on paper indeed. Potenza S001

  21. OK I can't remember who but some posted a product from Soft99 that removes RainX and cleans the glass. Costs around 10 bucks. Could this be their Glare Cut Liquid with ceramic powder in a liquid suspension. Whoever that is who posted this, said that it was found in the windscreen treatment section of Autobaccs. Interested in it to keep the windscreen nice and smooth instead of using harsh household detergent. BTW, see the link here on their step by step application of Glaco and the step before the last which is the application of Glaco (a RainX glass treatment) is the application of the yellow bottle which is the Glare Cut Liquid. See the pic on the water cascading down after the Glare Cut Liquid treatment. They even have a special claybar for the windscreen with its own quick detail liquid. Glaco for those who are interested have 2 versions. I don't mean the applicator size. The normal orange bottle one is the normal RainX style ones. The black bottle with the orange Glaco label is their Fusso version. It is their Teflon version that is supposed to last 6mths. http://www.soft99.co.jp/...o/glaco03/index.html Soft99 products do rock and are very affordable. If only the Japanese write their websites in English to reach out to the massive American autodetailing market.
