  2. Was at the VW showroom yesterday and walked around but nothing really excited me. The new Jetta was ok, inside wise with all the dashboard systems and all, its the same as our Skodas. Than I popped into the Skoda showroom in Leng Kee and found out some exciting news, the 2.0TSI Superb model is coming in and ready for taking orders before the COE increases again, which seems most likely since alot of people are changing or upgrading their cars. The new Skoda Superb 2.0TSI is fully featured with keyless entry and push button start, price wise, the 2.0TSI is actually cheaper than the VW Passat 1.8TSI by a good 20k. To order it, they said it will take about 3 months to get in. I was so tempted, the 1.8TSI was going for 146,000. Full featured model at a special price this weekend only. And is available now. GO check it out today! What should I get the 2.0TSI or 1.8TSI......hmm...

  8. Family of dead Ferrari driver sues insurers AXA Singapore had told Mr Ma's family that the crash was a "collision", not an accident. Tue, Aug 14, 2012; AsiaOne The wife and mother left behind by deceased Ferrari driver Ma Chi are taking the vehicle's insurers to court after the companies said they intend to withdraw coverage for the deadly crash. The Straits Times reported insurers AXA Singapore had told Mr Ma's family that was a "collision", not an accident. What this means in the insurance industry is that the driver was aware that his actions would cause an accident, thereby voiding the insurers' liability to make a payout. Mr Ma's family wants the High Court to reject this finding by suing the insurers. The lawsuit is believed to be the first such reported case in Singapore and is becoming a public interest issue as to how accidents are treated as "collisions", under which an insurer can reject liability. The accident in May left three, including Mr Ma, dead and two others injured. He had allegedly run a red light, crashed into a taxi, which then hit a motorcycle. According to The Straits Times, AXA first informed the Ma family of its decision last month. In the same month, the family had replied that they disagree with AXA's position. The company then responded by asking the family not to liquidate any of Mr Ma's assets, and said the case should be arbitrated. AXA also asked the family to supply a list of his other assets. Wendell Wong, lawyer for the Ma family, then filed a suit asking the High Court to rule that the crash was indeed an accident and not a "collision" as claimed by AXA. The family released a statement on Monday, "It is not an easy decision but the family feels that we need to seek the assistance of the Singapore courts as the insurer made the decision to repudiate liability first. "We just want to follow the Singapore laws as to what we need to do following the accident that affected people's lives." A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for next month. [email protected]

  16. Hi all, I suppose most Singaporean cars don't get to utilize to their max potential. For example, running at top speed, hitting max torque, endurance run at x hours continuously. Do you think you are getting every cents worth from your car ? or do you equate money worth with ride comfort...and spend most of the time alone in the car . Regards,
  17. Yahoo news report : Straitlaced Singapore switches on to strippers Civil servant Joanne Yan, 24, was looking for ways to spice up a private party for a girlfriend who was about to get married when she found just the right idea after trawling websites and forums. After a booze-fuelled girls' night out at one of Singapore's premier clubs, shrieks of joy erupted when they were joined in their room at a five-star hotel by a surprise guest: a male stripper who did the "Full Monty". "I wanted my good friend to have a blast on her last night as a single and I knew she would be game enough for a stripper," Yan said. "Also, I think having a naked guy prance around a room full of girls would definitely lighten the mood," she told AFP. In a country where public nudity is outlawed -- even Playboy can't be sold -- strippers say demand for their services is getting stronger despite deep-seated conservatism and the danger of being caught. The police have the power to enter any place, even a private home, where they believe an obscene activity is taking place, but this does not stop strippers from advertising their services. Typically white-collar workers by day, exotic dancers cater largely to professional Singaporeans in their mid- to late 20s, including heterosexual and gay gatherings. Bryan Tan, 31, who heads 2niteok Entertainment and has been a stripper for eight years, said more Singaporeans now seek his services. "The reason for setting up 2niteok Entertainment is to cater for the growing need of Singaporeans to hire strippers for their private parties," said Tan, who works as an administrative officer during the day. "Striptease is very common in the Western countries, but recently the trend is increasing in Singapore." The firm's website says rates start from Sg$300 ($236) for a 20-minute show by a male stripper who disrobes down to his underwear -- tips are optional. To see the man fully naked -- known as "The Full Monty" after the 1997 movie of that title -- prices start from Sg$400, with extra charges incurred for "special requests" such as dressing up as a policeman or doctor. But the firm's female performers only strip to their lingerie. One of them is Jasmine Tan, 28, a human resource executive by day who performs three to four times a month. "In certain months the number may double," she said. "I believe men love to see a woman in sexy lingerie (rather) than fully nude. Moreover, I usually go alone to perform, so it may be quite unsafe as they may take my nude photos," she said. Tan does not mind having a roomful of men leering at her body but insists "both sides are not supposed to touch each other's private areas". "Some clients do ask me for sex after my dance, but I always reject them. I am not a prostitute, but just a striptease entertainer." Strippers keep their side jobs a secret from their families because it is still a deeply conservative culture. I don't mind anyone but please don't give me Steven Lim .................
  18. Hi, Anyone can recommend a good and reasonable body check out clinic or centre? i thinking of going for complete check out siince the last one was many yr back. thanks
  19. From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1160642/1/.html Equal treatment for all full-time NSmen: Ng Eng Hen By S Ramesh | Posted: 20 October 2011 1618 hrs SINGAPORE: Singapore's Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said his ministry is acutely aware that all full-time NSmen must be treated equally, regardless of their background. Dr Ng said the equal treatment for National Service (NS) has been and must remain a cardinal principle because without strict adherence to this fundamental tenet, the commitment to NS will be severely eroded and the institution of NS weakened. Replying to questions in Parliament on the disruption of NS by Dr Patrick Tan, the son of President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Dr Ng said the disruption was in accordance with prevailing policies to obtain his medical degree. In addition, a longer period was granted to those admitted to US medical schools. He assured Singaporeans that neither Dr Patrick Tan, nor any other individual who has disrupted their NS, was given any preferential treatment because of their "connections". Some allegations that Dr Patrick Tan had received preferential treatment were made during the Presidential Election campaign in August. Dr Ng said the policy to allow full-time national servicemen (NSFs) to disrupt for medical studies in Singapore dates back to 1973. Then, Singapore needed military doctors to serve in the Singapore Armed Forces, a policy which continues today for local medical graduates. From 1981, this policy was extended to allow NSFs to study medicine overseas because the number of local graduates was insufficient. From 1981 to 1986, 38 NSFs were disrupted to go overseas. This was further tightened in 1986 to take into account basic military training and their physical employment standards. Dr Ng said 86 applicants were disrupted under this scheme. Among them was Dr Patrick Tan, who went to the United States to study medicine in 1988. Then, he had completed his Basic Military Training and was halfway through Officer Cadet School. However, he added that from 1992, disruption for overseas medical studies was no longer allowed as the number of local medical graduates had met SAF's needs. Dr Ng explained that in the US, the medical course is a graduate programme, where students need a pre-medical degree. Thus, Dr Patrick Tan deferred his NS for a total of 12 years, for his premedical course from 1988 to 1992 and later for his combined medical degree and PhD in Stanford University's medical scientist training programme. He re-enlisted in 2000 after having obtained both his medical degree and PhD, and was deployed to the Defence Medical Research Institute (DMRI) in view of his training. Dr Ng also noted that other full-time NS men have been posted to DMRI before Dr Patrick Tan's posting. Dr Ng said: "There was no preferential treatment given to Patrick Tan, or any other individual who has disrupted, because of their 'connections'. Let me emphasise to all, including commanders on the ground, that no NS man should be accorded preferential treatment. "I would like to further assure Singaporeans that Mindef implements a policy of selective disruption for university studies fairly and openly, in accordance with existing criteria. "Mindef shall henceforth publish the list of all those disrupted for university (education) annually on a routine basis for public scrutiny." -CNA/ac
  20. At my current open-space carpark, I always run out of place to park when I come home at night. As I have to work late rather frequently, it is really inconvenient. I understand that this is a common scenario with open-space carparks. Therefore, I am contemplating buying a flat with MSCP. To those who park at MSCP, can you guys tell me if you have ever run out of a lot to park if you come home late at night (1~2 am)? No place to park at all - not even on the highest floor?
