For stock engine,does installing Cam gear help much in HP gain? Which brand is better for Civic?

My car has this problem once in a while... In first gear, move off from stationary. When engaging second gear, when the gear lever is about to slip into the 2nd gear notch, the gear teeth rattle as if they didn't mesh properly. Return to neutral, gear in to 2nd again and it was smooth. All this while the clutch pedal is fully depressed to the floorboard. The funny thing is this only happens once in a blue moon, and happens mostly when the car is negotiating a turn. Of the 1 year I've owned the car (secondhand), it happened about 6 times. And each time I was pretty sure the clutch pedal hits the floorboard so can't be that clutch wasn't properly released. Told my mechanic about this but he couldn't replicate the fault (it's once in a blue moon!!). I suggested that the synchromesh may be worn but he said no point changing synchromesh, if so might as well change the whole gearbox. He said to put up with it...shouldn't do much harm to the gearbox. Anyone can explain this??

Anyone managed to catch last nite's RX8 feature on Top Gear on SCV? Damn good episode. Jeremy Clarkson commented that it's the best car he's driven this year (and he's driven helluva lot of cars!). The car looks like an absolute joy to throw around and the wankel engine sounds like a superbike engine when revved to 9k. Makes me wanna go out and buy one now (....but money no enuf)

Hi, After having a car wash today, wanted to move the car from the washing bay. Cranked the starter..nothing happen...like a dead battery... however, all the instrument and warning lights came on per usual routine just can't start the engine. Tried a few times before someone pointed out that my auto was engaged in 'D' mode...Shifted it back to 'P' with the key in 'Lock' position and after that started the car per normal. Just wondering whether any damage done to the gear box with what has happened... hopefully not... could someone with more technical background please enlighten me? Thanks! Must be more careful next time liao... was trying to 'beat' the rain clouds that were forming... so just shifted the car into position and switched off the engine when the gear still in 'D'

Hi, pros out there, any ideal of auto car converting into manual? heard manual to auto before , wat about the other way round? Heard friend said manual to auto is roughly 5k wif lta approval, so is the other way cheaper? jus for knowledge.

My gearstick snaps back to neutral on 4 occasions. Only happens when I am in 4th gear. Any gives?

Hi all expert .. need some opinion on the gear ratio of the Stream 2.0 iVTEC 5 speed autobox. The car cruise at about 2200rpm at 100km/h. According to the graph, does that mean that the Stream can "theoritically" hit 200km/h at below 4500rpm and 250km/h at a mere 5500rpm ??!! Of coz, the above if there is no speed limiter lah ! BTW, the speedo stops at 190km/h (last marking is 180km/h and one more unmarked line)

Hi guys, I'm tired of going to BM for complaints liao. I feel a slight jerkiness when the gear is changing up esp gear 1 to 2 and gear 2 to 3 and also when its shifting down on these gears. Anyone experienced the same things? or i gotto bring my baby down to BM again?

Anyone heard of this??? heard that using lubricant of 40W is better than using the so call normal gear box oil. they say also easier to engage.

This question is posted regarding my dad's 1.5yr old Nissan Sunny (N16) Manual. He used to complain to me about some noise when moving off. I used to disregard it, as it sounds like induction sound. However, today I drove his car, and the noise is much louder now. The noise seems to be produced when moving off 1st gear, low rev, low speed. It sounds like when the gear bite, it's not smooth ... not metallic sound, but more like rubbing sound ... very low bassy sound. No prob in 2nd gear onward. Suspect clutch, 1st gear problem ? or not enuff manual transmission oil ? Anyone can advise ?

i don't look at the PRND indicators (which are electronically duplicated on the dash anyway) on the gearstick so i figure it will be nice if i get a leather skirt for it (parking lever already has one). Autobacs has one unsightly low-quality yellow, and this small little shop @ Parkway Parade 1F has some from Momo. Stay @ west, hate to travel so far. Where can i find better selection, high quality leather? C&C Mitz uses Tomo Leather .. would Tomo can be a choice?

Help! Car jerks violently from 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear

Gd afternoon all, My bro's 91 Daihatsu charade just decided to fall sick - whenever he drives and switches from 1st to 3rd gear, the car jerks violently like a crazy bull!
