  5. Just got the news from http://news.omy.sg/News/LocalNews/Story/OM...505-111992.html Sorry guys only in Mandarin. I try to translate into English for our non-chinese MCFers. Surname of Lee??hmm...any million dollar guy here??? Are Singaporeans obsessive in gambling? Out of nine winners, seven are Singaporeans in Genting's Hall of Fame. One of them even won more than a million Ringgit Malaysia. Genting Highlands is one of the favourite haunt for Singaporeans, other than the theme parks for the young at heart, the most famous would be the numerous casinos there. A surfer out of curiosity went into Genting's website and he found out that in the winner's list for October, top of the list is a guy with the surname of Lee, who won about 1.08million ringgit, equivalent to SGD $450k. After the person put up his findings onto one of the forum pages in OMY, there was a heated discussion surrounding the topic of Singaporean's obsessiveness in gambling, thus resulting in the high occurrence of Singaporean winners in the Hall of Fame. Out of the Million dollar winning guy, the other 6 Singaporeans average winning totalled $20k ringgit. 8. Planning to go on 5 Nov.....First time driving to Genting/KL, need advise on the following: (1) Is this the easiest route for first timer to Genting? CHERAS WAY At Sungai Besi Toll, proceed straight, keep left, enter exit to Cheras heading up the flyover. Follow Cheras direction, go straight. Pass by Makro on your left, go straight. Follow Ampang direction Pass by Ampang, go straight and you will pass Zoo Negara and Melawati (on your right). Go straight, follow Kuantan direction. Exit Kuantan flyover. Go up the flyover and join Karak Highway. After the Karak Toll, proceed on till you pass the Genting Sempah tunnel. Exit to Genting Highlands after the tunnel. (2) Anyone can advise how do I go to PRINCE HOTEL KL from Genting? How long does it take from Genting to KL city? (3) Which is the best half-way stop on the NS Highway? (4) Is driving during night or early morning better to Genting? Thinking of leaving SG either 5am or 11pm? Many Thanks !
  9. Hi Bros, I just came back from a 3D/2N road trip to Genting. It's my first trip to Malaysia, and I simply loved it! Zipping around with my Honda Fit, blasting average between 120 - 140Km/H. At times, at 150Km/h, in order to catch up with the convoy. I realised that 90km/h is very slow in Malaysia. Besides the usual genting thingy, I also get to visit genting mushroom farm. The organiser also helped to organise telematch and seafood bbq. When I reached back to Singapore, I needed time to get used to the slower speed, keke. My next target... Road trip to Koh Samui...
  10. Will be going to visit "Uncle Lim" nest next week, always do my makan at those CMI R&R stations so thought of asking bros here do you have any idea or lobang to have nice food along the way?(Please don't recommend me those places which need to exit at xxx toll and travel more than 10 mins location as I don't want to waste too much time as well)Thanks.
  11. Hello everyone. Just checking if anyone is heading up Genting on 28th March 2009 ... Maybe we could form a 'mini-convoy' and head up together. This is my 4th time heading up Genting. First time was in a rented car, 2nd in my own with 2 bros from MCF, 3rd in a rented car again. Time is not an issue. I would prefer to leave at 6.30am from Singapore but I wouldn't mind leaving earlier if needed to. Hope to hear from fellow mcf-ers heading the same direction on the same day too!
  12. any forummers went up genting regularly?juz want to find out which hotel rooms do u rate best ?and which table games is ur favourite?
  13. After my last visit 14 years ago, I return to Genting Highland during the weekends and what a transform had taken place in GH. Travelling by coach to GH....... The hill is fill with buildings (hotels) and they are all interlink together. Leaving only the outdoor theme park which is not connected somehow & had to use the overhead bridge to get there. Should had booked First World Hotel had I know that I had to drag my luggages from the bus terminal (GH) to Resort Hotel ...... , cutting through the lobby of First World Hotel, The Parvillion, going up several escalators, taking a lift down to B5 and walk along enclosure, arcade and escalators up again to the hotel...... The place is packed during weekends (first time I came to know that all the 5 major hotels fully booked) and for every games, a long que of ppl waiting for their turns. The food is on the expensive side during my stays and mind you, I am not talking about restaurant food but at The Parvillion (within First World Hotel building) food arcade ........ Can drinks = RM$5.50 Kopi/Teh O = RM$4.00 Kopi/Teh = RM$5.00 Syrup drink = RM$3.50 The worst is the restaurant "Hainan Kitchen" where I had my dinner during the first night. Call themself a Hainanese kitchen but did not sell most of the Hainan delight foods...... . Being a Hainanese myself, I ask for the menu and all is listed is Fish & Chips, Steak, Pork Chop, Chicken Rice ........ ahhhhh.......... chicken rice....... serve with plain rice ...... Some smaller ones served better food than the "Hainan Kitchen". Shops like, "The Flavours", "Yum Yum Place" (Bak Kut Teh ) "Only Mee" (various kinds of noodles , "MaryBrown", "Curry" (Indian food )......... etc... Some other usual fastfood are KFC, Mac, Pizza Hut ........ etc.... Anyway, I enjoyed my stays at GH with my family and a wonderful experience for my 2 teenage kids.....

  20. I got this email from a friend, not sure if it's true or not ====================================== Dear All............ Last week, I brought my guests to Genting Highlands. After a day 'above the clouds', we decided to have dinner at the Gohtong Jaya area on the way down. We ordered some dishes and decided to have a steamed fish as well. So the captain recommended 'sultan fish'. The steamed fish came. HALF, and plain steamed. Good & fine. But when the bill came, it came to over $500 !! We were shocked !! We were told the fish was 1.4kg ( & please bear in mind, its ONLY HALF A FISH ) at RM 320 per kg! RM 420!! This was daylight robbery. We were not informed by the Captain that a kg of the Sultan fish would cost us RM 320 and there was also no signs of such pricings anywhere in the restaurant. When we checked with the cashier, she told us, its correct !! Of cos, it was our mistake for not asking the price first. Anyway, on the way back to KL, we stopped at Unique Seafood,PJ, where one can choose a live fish. The most expensive Soon Hock swimming in the tank is RM135 per kilo. Asked them about the Sultan fish, it is going for RM100 a kilo. Will be sending this letter to the newspapers, Tourism board, etc etc; and friends, pls pass on to all on yr email list. =========================================== any comment

  23. Dear Bros I'll be driving up to Genting on 05.07.08 and would like to ask if any of you bros here will also be going to Genting/KL on this day? If yes, maybe can go together? Have previously driven in Malaysia before but using rented cars. My ride's virgin drive up in boleh land. Tentatively I'll be departing at 7am, most probably will reach Tuas 2nd link at about 8am. There'll be 3-4 people in my car, including myself. Please pm me or reply here if you're interested. If your dates are pretty near, let's see if we can work something out. June 7 to June 29 is definitely out. Euro 2008. Thanks for reading!
  24. Hello Guys/Gals I need help... I will be going on a trip to Melaka tomorrow for 1 nite, and the day after next will be heading towards First world hotel. Will travel via 2nd link towards Melaka. Q1.Leaving Melaka; Is it generally easy to find my way back to the NSH towards Genting? I would greatly appreciate it, if experienced travellers can advise me on this. Do i just join back the expressway and continue towards KL? Q2.Can advice on the important things to bring for the car too? 1)decent amount of water? 2) do i need to go buy coolant just in case? I'm a total noob at this and this is my 1st time travelling up north this far. Q3.Most importantly, do u think my trip sounds fun enough for a couple to relax n enjoy? Or should i just skip Malacca and spend 2 days in Genting. will be celebrating anniversary with my partner. Q4. There is no OPC restriction in M'sia right? Thanks in advance.
