  1. issit true tat using a bigger rim de fuel comsumption is high???
  2. Just to check, anyone can tell me when idling, it should maintain around 800rpm but now at times when car stop at traffic lights and it idles around 1000 or 1100rpm, what is the problem here?
  3. Hi ! I have this problem with the aircon in my very old car. On a hot day, with the aircon switch on, after driving a few kilometres, the rpm of the car jump from 1000 rpm to 2000 rpm when coming to idling. If continue driving, the car experience loss of power or speed due to this high load from aircon compressor. The cold air has turned to warm air with the thermostat set to fully cold. Was wondering if anyone can advise me which part of the aircon system should I check for this problem. In the evenings, the aircon works perfectly. Thanks
  4. Cannot find such oil code on their website. Only ASL 5W-30 and XL7500 5W-30 available. Please verify which code are you selling for the 5W-30. Are the 5W-30 ex-stock and exactly which code; ASL, XL7500 or High Performance? What is the selling price, S$17/Bottle ??? Thanks
  5. how do i reduce fuel consumption on my car? apart frm driving slowly lar....I'm really concerned abt it cos even if i drive slowly the consumption is abtr 9km/L....drive abit faster and it seems like as if the car is drinking petrol like water like that....could it be the ECU settings? cos when my dad goes 4 his regualr maintainence at Tan chong he says that they will retune his car with an electronic tuner of some sort....which i presume is retuning the ECU.....I installed a K&N filter hoping that it can gain abit more performance and at the same time reduce FC but still not much of a diff....any other ways? cos i went 2 esso 2 pump RON98 yest and the price was like abt 1.498 per liter!!!
  6. I guess most of you heard of Magneco Ignition Booster .. which are applied for distributor-based ignition system. With the distributor-less direct electrical ignition replacing distributors, Magneco is no longer applicable but HKS released a similar product: HKS TwinPower. Anyone have any experience ? ---------------------- The Twin Power ignition amplifier incorporates both the CDI and transistor method ignition to provide optimum spark duration and maximum voltage output, resulting in crisper throttle response and a smoother engine powerband. The CDI method, capacity discharge ignition, provides maximum voltage by transferring all stored energy in the capacitor to the ignition coil so that the ignition current can buildup quickly, thus making the Twin Power very effective in the higher revs where a normal spark would tend to diminish. This strong rapid spark prevents the high rpm ignition miss that reduces peak power. The transistorized method generates high voltage by using transistors to cut off current to the coil, thus allowing for a long energy discharge. This longer spark duration allows the Twin Power to improve lower RPM throttle response and torque. The combination of the CDI and the transistor method incorporates two distinct systems into one high performance unit, hence the designation of Twin Power. The Twin Power produces a spark output that is typically 1.5-2.5 stronger than of the stock ignition system and consumes about 35% less power input than other ignition amplifiers. Each compact and attractive Twin power unit is constructed of durable anodized aluminum and sealed to prevent corrosion from moisture. General wiring harnesses are included in each unit to aid in installation and mounting. Vehicle Specific wiring harnesses are also available for certain models to further aid in installations that require intricate integration.(CARB E.O. # D-186-22) Dimensions: All Twin Power Units, except for DLI II, are 91mm (L) x 80mm (W) x 34.5mm (H) and weighs Approximately 430g (~15.2oz)
  7. Hi guys I get a high pitch sound when turning left.... Any idea what might have caused it ???
  8. Just another observation about certain drivers that I just love to poke at these past few days... I noticed that around corners and bends... eg. BKE exit to PIE (eastbound)... sometimes when I overtake a taxi with the fellow on my right... and I pull ahead of him (or her ), they'll normally high-beam at me... damn irritating at night... Now this has gotten me thinking about previous scenarios about taxis cutting fast in front of me or pushing me out of my lane... Frankly, I think they're just sore losers at "street racing"... come on, I'm not even gunning to race them, just merely OVERTAKING them... and they can't stand to "LOSE"... Taxi companies out there - your drivers are now not only reckless in my book, but they're also sore losers... A few exits I can think of where the taxis simply hate to "LOSE"... KJE entry into BKE northbound KJE entry into BKE southbound - taxis don't try me or prepare to eat railguard BKE exit to PIE eastbound - watch it you taxis, don't you know there's a speed trap??? BKE exit to PIE westbound SLE westbound exit to BKE southbound - don't you taxis even dream of cutting me last min, you basically CAN'T... hahahah BKE northbound entry to SLE eastbound - try eating me on the merging lane and I'll let you eat railguard once again PIE westbound entry to CTE northbound with merging lane - don't you taxis dare try to eat me on the right inside lane, or prepare to have your right wing mirror replaced CTE westbound exit to Havelock Road - I don't think you taxis can hold that corner at that speed, so DON'T even think of trying Be a safe "racer" and don't try stupid stunts just cos you're trying to send your customers "faster" to their destination / quickly go and change shift... cos one fine day, you're gonna meet me on the streets and I ain't gonna let you "win" with your "dirty" driving habits
  9. "The Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 finished second overall in a field of 37 ultra high performance tyres from brands including Dunlop, Bridgestone, Pirelli and Goodyear" check it out. really that good? hmm... http://www.tyremaster.com.au/press_release.../2003-03-26.asp
  10. hi bros, I am Newbie in this forum. I just curious to know the difference between Low Profile tyres as compare to High profile tyres in term of performance. btw, i'm driving a nissan sunny 1.6 auto and i've a 15" low profile tyres and i was thinking of changing to high profile tyres due to fact that it is always noisy when driving. I need advise from all bros here...and pls. dun flame me if i ask silly Q
  11. I just shod my car with new shoes but upon checking the tire pressure. Was shocked to see it in excess of 38psi cold! Dunno if pxx xxxg had done the right thing. The recommended tire pressures for the Aveo from up to 14" rims and tires are 30psi for both front and back. Should I reduce the pressure to the recommended. I'm using 195/50/15 Falken Azenis ST115.

  15. Hi there anyone heard or seen the Stromberg high frequency converter. Supposed to help save petrol consumption and give more power by converting existing ignition coil current to spark plugs, to higher frequency current, thus, giving more sparks to create more complete combustion process for the fuel being injected into the chamber. It sound logical to me but I thought spark plugs like Denso Iridium is supposed to perform this function of better combustion effect. This is so new and unknown to me, and wondering whether is this another fad like some of those magnetic device on fuel lines. Anyone who has info, would appreciate your advice. Anyway, this is widely available in Malaysia and well-published in their local press. Website: http://thestar.com.my/services/printerfrie...ss/mktstrom.asp Thanks
  16. Hello people, Do anyone know where can i get lower preiums for Auto Insurance ?
  17. this is a continuation of my post of Nissan March. Most of you prefer Honda Jazz than March. I agree but I heard that Honda cars....ok but its 'after servicing' maintenance package is higher as compared to other brands. I was being discouraged from buying Honda cars because of this. As for only 1.4, might as well get Hyundai Matrix, can get 1.6 and cheaper also. Jazz used to be my fav but dun c many on the rod and recently I kind of fancy Matrix a lot because of it's affordable price and saw many on the road also Need 'lao jiao' advice here. Given the following choices of mini-MPV, which would you choose taking considering factors of price, comfy, roomy, and fuel? 1) Honda Jazz 2) Mitsubishi Colt 3) Hyundai Matrix this is Jap talk but pls don't be bias hor ok? Thanks
  18. When I brake lightly at speeds over 80kph, I feel quite bad vibrations coming from the front wheel. If I release the brake pedal and tap on it again, then the vibrations sort of diminish and disappear when my car slows down to below 60kph. I was told by my service mechanic that my car's front rotors are "polarised" (not sure what that means...and changing the front pair would cost S$180. Is that the real cause of the vibrations? I was also told in another forum that I could just flip the rotors so I dun need to change them. True? I plan to have this fixed soon cos brakes cannot play play one... I also encounter squealing sounds when moving off in 1st gear and especially when reversing. I've sprayed belt dressing on all the rotating parts and the belts but the problem is still there. While moving, there's also some grinding noise coming from the drive shaft I think...somewhere from the bottom of the car or gearbox. Any idea what ARE wrong?? Any workshops to recommend to have these problems fixed cos it's the first time I own a car. I'm driving a Suzuki Swift. BTW, hope it's near Woodlands cos I stay there
  19. Hi, This might have been discussed before but cannot seem to find the answers. The problem is I find that after driving for about 1-2 hrs, sometimes feel engine revving abit rough, especially on a hot day, How can we keep the smooth revving feeling we get in the morning or during night driving. Thanks!
  20. Minus the overdone masking tape, here's some pics of the next 5-series. Note the 7-series style boot and make your call.... Hope the grille mesh that looks like garden fencing doesn't make it, tho'.....
  21. Combine them with the Honda Acty!! (yes, I spelt that correct...) Shown in the 2002 Tokyo Motor Show, this concept basically looks like a mini-prime mover-trailer combo, which in typical Honda fashion, manages to squeeze even more flexibility into an already zany idea. The trailer portion for example, has a floor panel that can be removed to create a low-floor rear cargo bay (just look at the pics) Its roof is fitted with a power outlet rail incorporating lighting and 100 V outlets, while the side lining is bolted to the walls and contains pockets, cup holders and other easy-access utility items. And the side panels can be fitted to provide a door or window. Did I mention the pop-up bed loop? And check this out, the Acty's 4WS steers the vehicle's third axle, minimizing the inner wheel differential movement for smoother, tighter cornering capability. Who says living in your car can't be fun?
  22. Anyone use the top of the range Kumho tyre before? Do anyone know the price or Leong Seng selling it?
  23. are there any significant effects (good & bad) in changing the stock cat to a high flow one? will the low-end or high-end torque be affected? thanks.
