  9. hi all, just wondering if anyone here has direct contacts to workshops that do skimming/machining of cylinder heads? I've got a Toyota Forklift cylinder head that is blown. I'm trying to find out the prices of a new head but I believe it'll be very expensive so I'm checking around to see if I can send it for machining. I believe most bros here sent the car to workshops where they will do the complete job, but unfortunately, I've only got a cylinder head on my hand right now. so it doesn't help me to go to those workshops..... once I get it machined, I'll get a slightly thicker gasket and I believe this should work ok for a few more good years for the forklift. Thanks for any advise here as well.
  10. Top Stories Home > Prime News > Story Jan 9, 2010 Bukit Panjang park body that of Singaporean The body of Ms Liu Shu Hui, 25, was found on Dec 29. Her boyfriend, a 26-year-old Nigerian, has been arrested in connection with the crime. -- SHIN MIN FILE PHOTO THE badly decomposed body found in a park in Bukit Panjang on Dec 29 has been identified as that of a 25-year-old Singaporean, Ms Liu Shu Hui. In a press release issued yesterday, the police said that her identity was established on Tuesday through forensic DNA matching. The woman is believed to have been murdered, and her boyfriend, a 26-year-old Nigerian national, has been arrested in connection with the crime. The suspect, who arrived in Singapore in late 2007, had overstayed here since February 2008, when his S pass expired. He was arrested at a flat in Boon Lay Drive on Thursday night. His occupation and how the couple met are not known. Ms Liu's body, clad only in underwear, was found near Block 201, Petir Road - close to where she lived - by a town council supervisor. A black wristband and a black Adidas watch were also found on the body. A pair of Birkenstock sandals was also found lying nearby. The body was highly decomposed and carried no identification documents. Forensic tests were conducted on the woman's blood, bone marrow and other parts to establish her identity. The Straits Times understands that the body had been lying in the park for at least five days before it was found. SUJIN THOMAS

  12. Do you feel that charity events in Singapore are actually a covert opportunity for some businesses to make money? 2 big names have fallen but the rot continues. Why do telcos have to charge a fee for call-in donations? Are they making an epic loss for the financial year? Or why is the local subsidiary of a famous a toy company charging $2 for something that costs only USD$0.15 on their international online store? The best part is some people don't seem to do charity for charitable reasons. They just want to shake hands and take picture with some VIP for the sake of blowing trumpet.
  13. have the above problem statement try all variuos methods but the problem seems to reappear again.. any methods to resolve it?
  14. Hi bro, I just curious about what are the usual path people take to go to local university (NUS,NTU and SMU). Currently, I am a year 1 student @ SMU and I am basically struggling with everything. Prior to that, I was from NYP and I did quite well with an overall GPA of 3.5. Most of my peers from polytechnic are also struggling to make a mark for ourselves in SMU. I did not know about other universities that why I am trying to find some opinions from you guys here. I came from a neighbourhood pri and sec school, My O level results aren't that fantastic. 23 pointer... English only C6. But my Hokkien sure A1. hahaha... Does 2 years in JC helps you adopting life in University better or 3 years in polytechnic? What is your choice? Anyway, my personal view, I think that JC students have strong command in english languages, be it verbally or written. They are very good at expressing themselves and are very vocal when it comes to class participation in SMU. Polytechnic students like us does not have such a strong command in english. When I submit my individual projects, my prof actually pin point all my grammers! It damn saddening to say that us polytechnic students has such lousy english standard or is it just me? The only advantages we have is prior experience to technology stuff which means that we are more tech-savvy, that's all. And I really admired those JC student who can speak professional english. How I wish I could be like them. Oh yah, not forgetting our foreign students. SMU has a lot of foreign students from Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and China. Some of the more weird one are people from South Africa, South Korea and Japan studying here full time. I really have to say that other than their command of english, they are way smarter than all of us Singaporeans. Many came here thru scholarship and we singaporean have to take loan from CPF or Bank to study. How sad can it be isn't it? Hope to see more response to this tread!

  16. Just sharing this recent incident which happened to a friend who parked head in (45 degrees) along a busy street at Taman Sri Tebrau (Da Ma Hua Yuen), near the Shell petrol kiosk. This place is patronised by lots of Singaporeans who head to the nearby Food Centre especially for bbq seafood. This friend of mine parked and went to the Shell toilet and came out less than five minutes later to see a Kancil (with its engine running) parked very very close to the rear of his car, (sort of making it a T shape). The driver side door of the Kancil was ajar (sort of hiding the actions of the thief) and the lone driver was seen rummaging the opened car boot of my friend's. He let out a shout which startled the thief who made his hasty escape but not before grabbing his document and hand carry luggage bags. At first my friend thought that the Kancil had knocked onto his parked car but later realised that the positioning of it was deliberate, hiding his act of forcing open the car boot via its keyhole. Just an alert those for those who frequent up north. [shakehead]
  17. Hi all, I am looking for a single din head unit with green or orange back lights to match the original dash lightings. Prefer GREEN. Also prefer something with a simple slot-in CD type, much like a Clarion D1, not the ones with doors that need to open and doing a lot of things before you can insert your CD to play. Brands ??? Nothing in particular and certainly not looking for top of the range models . . . . something mid range will do. Are there anything like this around ??? Any help in locating one will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
