  1. Hi guys, anyone knows how to know if your rims is heavy or light-weighted? I have heard light-weighted (but equally durable) rims can save petrol up to 50km more...
  2. Anger, sadness ....... a heavy heart all leading to the Dark Side....... fear..... As you all know, I have changed the oil DIY. I have changed plugs DIY, everything I find that can DIY on the Aveo can be DIY'd. It is a very simple car to maintain with very simple tools. Don't even need to jack up. The suspension is good and high for this. I even looked at the manual tranny and see that it is easy to change the gear oil as well. So far, she is well maintained, fluids that drop every week are topped up with high quality ingredients like 18-Megaohm water for the cooling system. Now with a heavy heart, I have been thinking...... to forgo the A/C warranty. If I can do all these myself. Why should I succumb to the high-handed blackmail they dish out? The car is a great little car. Partly the reason why I bought it is the ease in DIY maintenance. An A/C dryer costs a measely amount of money. If the A/C system fails, I can drive to Mark-Cool to get it fixed for half at 130-140 bucks. The more I look at it, such blackmail by SA should be met with resistance! Compare this to the near 300 bucks and maybe 250 bucks w/o the A/C dryer change. I don't need to give up the car for a whole day and be paralyzed doing nothing, if I choose this path. My decision will come tomorrow morning. I feel like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane before he was crucified ....... well, NOT! He went through far worse.
  3. What's the advantage & dis-advantage of having heavy & light sport rim respectively? thank you
  4. Hi All, My 1560kg suv's 225/55-17 are going botak soon, so i am looking for good tyres at slightly above average price range:- safety is important, so good grip is what i am looking for (in both wet/dry conditions, but especially wet conditions), at the same time, hopefully they are not too noisy (i know these two properties usually dun go hand in hand, so i will accept some kind of compromise between them with the first being more important)..... thanking you for advice in advance....
  5. Hey all, My car boot is usually packed full with LOTS of "rubbish".... It's advisable?? I heard that the extra heavy loading is very bad for the car suspension. Can anyone please comment?
  6. Hi Does anyone experience this before. I drove quite far and long in the heavy downpour during CNY eve and when i enter the carpark, my steering and clutch feels funny and over responsive. My car swerve quite a lot during a stretch of road in the MSCP and the clutch feels funny, like slipping. That particular stretch is very smooth and have a layer of water so i'm not sure if that is the cause. Anyway the car is back to normal in the next day.

  8. I'm now using 14" alloys 185/60/14. 8kg/rim Thinking of changing to Alessio Euro rims from Italy and P6000 tyres 195/50/15. Like the look of the rims, but drawback is, it's heavy - 10kg/rim. Can anyone advise me if this is a good change? Cos I heard an increase in unsprung weight will hinder performance. Will this be significant?
