  1. Just saw advertisement about the 2024 Santa Fe coming up, anyone registered interest for the sneak preview too? On the other hand, heard from KIA SA that the Sorento may be coming out this June/july.
  2. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/713761/genesis-performance-sub-brand-magma/ Genesis is rolling into the 2024 New York Auto Show with some hot news. We mean that figuratively of course, with a touch of pun included because there's a new performance sub-brand from the South Korean company called Magma. And based on what we see of this very orange GV60, we'd say good things are coming. If you're experiencing Deja Vu right now, it's because we saw the same shade of orange almost a year ago. Genesis rolled into New York with a GV80 Coupe concept and then followed it up later in 2023 with the G80 you see below. Called the G80 Magma Special, it's already in production in limited numbers, though only for customers in the Middle East. New to the scene is the GV60 Magma Concept, unveiled today ahead of the 2024 New York Auto Show and also destined for production. It won't be region-limited, though at this time Genesis doesn't have much in the way of production information. Nor do we have details on performance upgrades for the electric crossover, but we do know it will have an improved battery sending power to tweaked motors. To make the most of what we assume is a lively power increase, the GV60 Magma Concept sits a bit lower and rides on a wider stance. It wears a revised front fascia with a wider air intake, designed not to feed a hungry engine but to cool down batteries, brakes, and motors. There are three holes punched into the fascia above the intake for additional cooling, and air curtains are designed to increase the GV60's efficiency through the wind. Adding to the wide stance are larger fenders, and the concept rides on 21-inch wheels with integrated aero discs designed to both cool the brakes, and further aid in efficiency. Up top, roof fins perform more aerodynamic trickery, channeling air to the GV60's rear wing for better downforce. Inside, the leather interior gets more magma touches with orange contrast stitching and body-colored seatbacks. "Genesis Magma presents an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of performance and luxury for new interpretations in high-performance vehicles, with the ultimate goal of developing models exclusive to Genesis," said Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke. "The brand will continue to reveal experimental concepts with careful consideration of both technological and aesthetic elements. While speed and performance are important, the Genesis Magma program will look beyond, prioritizing the driving experience to kindle the joy of sporty driving with effortless comfort." As for when buyers can sample that blend of comfort and performance in the GV60, Donckerwolke told reporters it would arrive "very soon" but didn't elaborate further. For now, the GV60 Magma Concept along with the G80 Magma Special, and the recently revealed Neolun Concept will be on display at the 2024 New York Auto Show starting on March 29.
  3. Imagine seeing a whole VAN lane split better than motorcycles. Get this driver into teaching ASAP. What happened? A Malaysian-registered Hyundai Starex on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) was presented ‘the bird’ by 2 motorcyclists passing by, and proceeded to take off and chase after the offenders. The original FB post implies that the bikes were also Malaysian-registered, due to the quote “chase down fellow countrymen on bikes”, but the plate numbers are too small to make anything of it. There is no context to why the bikers flipped off the Hyundai, if there was any motive at all behind it. What we do know is that the Hyundai did not take it lying down. Without missing a beat they chased after the bikes, weaving between vehicles and somehow avoided any damage, as the FB post also said “Almost scratching whole line of vehicles”. Bro was HIM. Bro taught the Fast and Furious cast how to drive. The amount of focus to keep from touching others with such a big vehicle though… Online chatter Many were impressed at the van’s skills. As impressive as it was, some still noted that the driver posed a danger to others and wanted them to face consequences. Starexes seem to have a bad reputation too... ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/686396/2024-hyundai-konda-electric-debut/ Hyundai today released additional details about the 2024 Kona Electric, including preliminary range estimates, specifications, and US availability. The current generation is among the few affordable electric vehicles in the US starting at under $35,000. The next generation is imminent and seems like a significant upgrade, at least on paper. The Korean carmaker had shared powertrain and production details early this year, but now we a few more details on the US-spec model. Design The Kona Electric’s nose is more aerodynamic with cleaner surfacing, and it continues to feature a split headlamp design, although the LED DRL is now full-width. Designers have also attempted to embed the parametric design theme from the Ioniq 5 with the creases on the side profile, and sculpted wheel arches, although reminiscence to its bigger sibling is little to none. It’s also more slippery, with a drag coefficient of 0.27, a slight improvement over the previous figure of 0.29. It also features active grill shutters to improve airflow when closed and cool the battery when open. The EV is longer, wider, and has an enlarged wheelbase compared to its predecessor. It measures 171.5 inches long (+5.9 inches), 71.9 inches wide (+1 inch), and 62.2 inches tall. Boot space is rated at 25.5 cubic feet, while the frunk only offers nine-tenths of a cubic foot (27 liters) of space. Battery, Range The Chevrolet Bolt EV competitor features a marginally larger battery pack, but the range estimates are nearly identical. The current Kona Electric draws power from a 64-kilowatt-hour pack, while the 2024 model will feature a 64.8 kWh battery capacity. Hyundai’s preliminary internal testing has indicated a 260-mile range, just two miles more than the current generation's 258-mile EPA range. The standard battery variant is estimated to have 197 miles of range. Charging times have improved slightly. Ten to 80 percent state of charge (SoC) can be achieved in 43 minutes with 400V Level 3 DC fast charging. Customers living in the colder US regions can also opt for battery pre-conditioning. Power output remains identical, with the long-range version’s front axle-mounted electric motor delivering 201 horsepower and 188 pound-foot of torque, while the standard range variant is rated for 133 hp and 188 lb-ft. More Features New features include vehicle-to-load functionality, with 1.7 kilowatts of maximum power output. There's also a new Smart Regenerative system which can alter the brake energy regeneration strength based on real-time traffic, an improved interior with ambient lighting, body-colored interior accents, and dual 12.3-inch panoramic screens for the gauge cluster and infotainment among other items.
  5. We’ve seen many examples of bad driving in this forum, but this one is just malicious. What happened? On 11 May, 8.51 a.m. at Tampines Expressway, a Hyundai Elantra driver decided to hit a motorcycle while disguising it as lane filtering. As you can see in the video, the Hyundai was coming in from another road to join the expressway. Immediately the Hyundai went across multiple lanes at once, and headed for the motorcycle like a missile. The motorcyclist had a pillion rider as well, and both of them were sent rolling across the tarmac, their bike skidding away. The Hyundai showed no remorse for the move, as there was not even a hint of braking or turning away before the impact. The driver simply continued on their way like nothing happened, not stopping to check if he committed vehicular manslaughter. We can see when the Hyundai driver passes the camcar that he left his turn signal on when he was “lane filtering”. Uproar Motorists of all sorts were none too pleased by such behaviour on the road, condemning the Hyundai driver Others also noted how the incident looked intentional, as the driver showed no concern after hitting the bike. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 6. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/658027/hyundai-pledges-keep-physical-buttons/ As with most automakers, Hyundai has jumped on the dual-screen bandwagon with tablet-like displays mounted on the dashboard. However, the South Korean brand is doing things differently since it hasn't given up on conventional controls. While many rival brands are simplifying their interiors by integrating most functions into the center screen, a lot of the features inside a Hyundai are still accessible by simply pressing a button. Shown here is Hyundai's newest car, the 2024 Kona with its pair of 12.3-inch displays and plenty of conventional buttons along with a couple of knobs. Sang Yup Lee, Head of Hyundai Design, told the Australian magazine Cars Guide that the reasoning behind the decision to retain old-school controls is due to safety concerns: "When you're driving it's hard to control it [the touchscreen], this is why when it's a hard key it's easy to sense and feel it." He went on to mention Hyundai will retain hard buttons for as long as possible, but Lee admitted it’s only a matter of time before most functions will be built into the touchscreen. He was referring to vehicles equipped with a level 4 self-driving system, in which case the car won't even need a steering wheel or pedals. As defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers, level 4 automation implies no human intervention is required. In this case, using a touchscreen wouldn't be a safety risk since the car would be doing all the driving. In the meantime, Hyundai is sticking with traditional controls. Even a car with a futuristic design such as the Ioniq 6 electric sedan still has shortcuts outside of the touchscreen for the air conditioning and other often-used functions. The day will come when everything will be moved inside the big screen but for now when we're still driving our cars, Lee argues it's "safest to have your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel."
  7. Hyundai has quietly published the first images of its mildly updated Elantra on its website in South Korea where the compact sedan is sold as the Avante. The styling revisions come quite early in the life cycle considering the seventh generation was unveiled in March 2020 before going on sale later that year. The bulk of the changes is noticeable at the front where the 2024 Avante gets flatter headlights flanking a newly added metallic bar stretching across the entire width of the grille. Speaking of which, Hyundai has decided to split the grille into two by adding a body-colored element in the center. It makes the grille less in your face, and we'd argue that’s for the better. Faux air intakes at the corners of the bumper lend the front fascia a sportier appearance. There's not much going on at the rear where the Elantra's taillights have been seemingly carried over. We do notice the bumper has a different look with a pseudo diffuser and a wide U-shaped silver element extending from one corner to the other. We're getting the impression there are more glossy black surfaces than before while the red horizontal reflectors appear to be slightly wider. With this being only a facelift, the side profile has been carried over nearly unchanged, although those two-tone wheels seem to be a new variation of an existing set. In addition, the plastic panel at the C-pillar has a more intricate pattern now while the chrome beltline is slightly thicker at the end. Inside, a new Sage Green theme with eco-friendly material is the only novelty announced thus far.

  9. Hyundai Kona debuts with a bigger body and buyers will be able to get the new Kona as an EV, hybrid, combustion engine only, and a sporty N Line model. Hyundai's designers started by creating the new Kona EV and then applied the look to the other versions. In front, all of them share a distinctive light bar along the hood's edge. The headlights are below this strip on the outer corners. The lower fascia's styling is the primary differentiating factor among the 2024 Kona models. The EV has pixel-like elements there, and the styling shares some cues with Hyundai's Ioniq vehicles. The standard ICE vehicle has a rectangular opening in this space. The N Line has a more aggressive appearance by using a trapezoidal element. From the side, the 2024 Kona models share a similar look. The hybrid- and combustion-powered variants have body cladding on the fenders. The EV and N Line keep this section in the body color. The N Line has a rear spoiler, silver side skirts, and available black pieces for the mirror caps and roof. The rear matches the front by having a light bar stretch across the hatchback. Like the headlights, the tail lamps are in the lower corners. The N Line gets dual exhaust outlets. The new Kona EV is 4,355 millimeters long, which is 150 millimeters longrr than the existing model. The wheelbase increases by 60 millimeters while the width is wider by 25 millimeters. Inside, the new Kona has a pair of 12.3-inch screens that share a single bezel. The gearshift is now on the column behind the steering wheel. Below the big displays, the center stack includes a pair of vents and the controls for the HVAC system. In the second row, there's a simple rear bench. The company's announcement says that it follows the rest of the new Kona's "21st-century urban design aesthetic." The automaker isn't yet disclosing powertrain specifications or pricing details for the new Kona. Hyundai will release that info in the coming months.
  10. Both the exterior and interior have the Land Rover vibe, and seems up market.
  11. A video of a Hyundai i30 nearly driving into a cam car has been uploaded on Facebook. But who really is at fault? Watch the video to decide. Watch the video of how the incident unfolded here: In the video, the cam car is casually driving straight down Eunos Road, when the Hyundai i30 seen dashes out, almost causing himself a massive T-bone. Luckily the cam car driver was quick enough to jam brake. The cam car driver then turns to the right lane, and according to him, proceeds to get hounded by the Hyundai i30 by getting tailgated. Extra irritation and frustration was caused to the cam car driver due to the Hyundai i30's loud exhaust. From the video, it really looks like the Hyundai i30 driver was at fault. But what if I told you there was another side to the story? According to this facebook user who was at the incident, he claims that the cam car had signalled left, therefore it was the cam car's fault that he proceeded to go straight instead. He also goes on to accuse the cam car (who was apparently driving a Mitsubishi Attrage) of having 'offended him in the past'. A bold claim if true. It certainly brings another perspective to the saga. Another commenter made a fine point against the cam car driver. He pointed out how the cam car driver was also being reckless by suddenly swerving to the right, most likely not having checked his mirror doing so. So it seems that this case might be an ambiguous one. Although it seems like the Hyundai i30 is clearly at fault in the video, the netizen, if his claims are true, would paint the cam car driver might not turn out to be the saint that he is. Regardless of who is most at fault in this incident, we feel that the Hyundai i30 driver could have waited for the cam car driver to turn into the left lane (if he was actually signalling left), before coming out of the side road. This is an extra step of precaution that would make things safer for everyone. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 12. TL;DR - A Hyundai Tucson reverses into a stationary car at the traffic lights along Esplanade Drive. Plot twist; the Tucson is a Singapore Police Force vehicle. A video of a Singapore Police Force Hyundai Tucson reversing into another car has surfaced on SGRV’s Facebook page. Since its posting around midnight, it has garnered a whopping 203 shares. Watch the 53-second video here: What happening? Image: Hyundai.com.sg The driver of the latest Police fast response Hyundai Tucson does a serious booboo. As mentioned earlier, the cam car and the Tucson stop at a traffic light. However, in a strange turn of events, the Tucson reverses and hits the front of the cam car. I think the Police officer wanted to turn right instead of going straight and did not check his blind spots or rear-view mirror. Does this place look familiar? If you’re unsure of where this takes place, here’s a rough idea of where I think this incident happened. It should be at this junction highlighted above. Another interesting thing After the ‘collision’, the red and blue lights on the Police vehicle suddenly light up. Not sure why. Pretty strange. But one Netizen had a theory. Online Chatter Let’s look at other interesting comments. These comments don’t fail to disappoint. Well, suffice to say, the Police Officer is definitely BBQ-le. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 13. Source: https://www.motor1.com/photo/6722889/hyundai-ioniq-6-design-debut-with-plane/ The Hyundai Ioniq 6 finally reveals its uncamouflaged body and interior in detail. For now, the company is only highlighting the upcoming electric sedan's design. Technical info reportedly arrives on July 14. Hyundai's teasers for the Ioniq 6 pitched the vehicle as an "electrified streamliner," and the company wasn't lying. The body has an arched shape that makes it look like the car would glide through the air. The design relationship with the earlier Prophecy concept is clear. At this time, we have no details about the model's drag coefficient to know how aerodynamic it really is. The front end has clean, minimalist styling. The lower fascia includes vertical portions on each side. The hood is smooth, and the raised sections for the headlights lead to the A-pillars. Along the sides, the arching beltline along the doors accentuates the roof's curvature. There's some subtle sculpting along the lower section of the doors. The vehicle in these pictures has rear-facing cameras instead of mirrors. The wheels have a complex, asymmetrical spoke pattern. The Ioniq 6 has a sporty rear end. There's a spoiler at the base of the back window. Below it, there's a subtle ducktail spoiler that incorporates into the tail's sculpting. The full-width taillights have square, pixel-like elements that lend a vaguely retro-futuristic aesthetic to the design. The lower fascia has a pair of vertical elements with red and white reflectors in small, square elements, which matches the other rear lamps. Hyundai also isn't providing any technical details about the interior, but we can learn a lot just by looking at the pictures. Separate screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment share a single bezel. On the outer edges, the dashboard arches upward to create space for the displays that show the side camera video feed. A panel below the dash has an array of capacitive buttons for operating the HVAC system. There's a two-spoke steering wheel with capacitive buttons on each side. Four, square lights are in the center of the wheel. It's not clear whether this is purely decorative or serves some function. These photos of the cabin show a strip of purple accent lights on the dashboard and blue illumination coming from the lower door panels. We don't know whether owners can change these colors because the bright shades might not be to everyone's taste. The Ioniq 6 rides on the E-GMP platform that is also underneath the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. The sedan will reportedly come with a 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack. With two electric motors, expect an output of around 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). Single-motor and more performance-focused versions are possible, too.
  14. Personally, I strictly employ the 2-second rule, especially during heavy (heavier) traffic and wet weather. The extra distance and time provided by the 2-second rule will be crucial for you to react accordingly when the car in front of you performs an abrupt brake. Watch what happens when one doesn't leave a safe distance from the car ahead: What Happened? A total of 14 vehicles were involved in 3 clusters of accidents along lane 1 of the PIE, with two clusters being multiple chain collisions. According to the dashcam footage, both the chain collisions seemed to have occurred just moments earlier. The first cluster This was most likely the cause of the subsequent accidents. It involved 3 cars: A Toyota Prius A Toyota Vios A Mazda CX-3 The second cluster The most 'rabak' out of the three, involved a total of 8 cars and a mini-van. The 8 cars consists of: A Nissan Sylphy A Hyundai Elantra A Toyota Corolla Altis A Toyota Wish A Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class A Mercedes-Benz C180 Two unidentifiable cars that were squashed against the concrete barrier The final cluster The dashcam footage captured the last accident or final cluster, which involved 2 cars: A Honda Civic An Audi TT Unfortunately, despite being able to brake in time due to the ample safety distance ahead of him, the Honda Civic still got rear-ended pretty hard by the Audi TT. The impact of the collision caused the Honda Civic to surge several metres ahead. The 2-Second Rule Could the 2-second rule taught to us in driving school prevent this series of accidents? Possibly, if each driver practices this rule - Take a look at the Honda Civic that managed to stop in time with the 2-second rule employed by the driver. I am certain that with the 2-second rule, there would be fewer cars involved in the massive chain collision due to the added time and distance for each driver to react accordingly. Netizens' Comments I hope this clears up the confusion on why the Honda Civic was flashing his high beam at the cam car. I also wonder why🤔 Well, that escalated! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!

  16. Concept cars are meant to showcase what an automaker can do in the future. However, some concepts are too futuristic for their own good, sometimes even showcasing Hollywood sci-fi stuff. This futuristic driver's cockpit concept begs to differ. Called COMFI, it's touted as an innovative cockpit for a comfortable driving experience, developed by Hyundai Mobis. Of note, Hyundai Mobis is the parts and services arm of Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia. It's tasked to manufacture chassis, front-end, and cockpit modules, along with after-sales service components and other spare parts that Hyundai Group vehicles need. COMFI stands for Convenient & Comfortable, Optimized, Movable, Functional, and Illuminated – all five representing the features that the highly digital cockpit offer. Convenient & Comfortable represents the projection switch by the center console and the electronically retractable smart table on the passenger's side. The table comes embedded with a keyboard but it's most useful as a table for those who need to work on the go. The parabolic motion of the glove box falls under this category as well. Under Optimized, COMFI boasts its Blooming Sound System which features speakers that open outward and independently if needed. The knob controller under the screen slides into place as well, while the instrument panel touts real wood inserts. Movable, on the other hand, showcases the movable parts within the futuristic cabin. The camera monitoring display for the side cameras slides into place, while the steering wheel has a pop-up function when the supposed vehicle comes alive. Even the 12.3-inch infotainment screen is also movable. Function features an electric multi-functional air vent that converts to wind-free mode (with ambient lighting) depending on the passenger's preferences. The air purifier in the cabin also converts into a perfume diffuser. Lastly, Illuminated, which, as its name suggests, represents the illuminated parts within the COMFI cabin. The ambient lighting has a 3D pattern, as well. Hyundai Mobis notes that COMFI is just a concept. However, each of the technology that you see here is ready for application. And given the practicality of these features, I don't see why not. We may even see these features in the next Hyundai and Kia vehicles soon.
  17. With border restrictions lifted on the 1st of April 2022, Singaporeans can finally travel to Malaysia whenever they want. That means driving in for 'Lok Lok', getting a massage or filling your tank with subsidised petrol is now possible once again! However, security and law enforcement across the border tends to sway on the lax side of things as seen in this alarming video of a Singapore-registered car being "broken into". Or is there another story? Don't be so quick to judge Before you read on, let me establish the possibility of having two sides to the story. The obvious story A Malaysian man (supposedly) was caught on camera attempting to break into a Singapore-registered Hyundai Avante using a tool that resembles a metal ruler. The culprit was likely eyeing valuable contents in the car. Despite committing a crime in broad daylight, he seemed calm during his break-in attempt. In fact, it seemed like he was experienced in what he was doing. It is unknown if the culprit was successful in his break-in attempt. Another story to consider Some comments on the post have said that the man works at a car wash and was trying to retrieve the car key, which was locked inside the car as the auto-lock function did not work in his favour. And just so happens, the person filming the video happened to witness the entire incident without any context and assumed the "culprit" was trying to break into the Singapore-registered Hyundai. If you think about it, it makes sense for the "culprit" to appear calm as he was not committing a crime. A random thought: Can your car auto lock if your car key is inside the car?🤔 Wouldn't a modern-day car have a feature to prevent locking your keys inside your car? Strange. Which side of the story do you think is true? Let me know in the comments below! Update #1- 11th April 2022, 2315h Update #2- 13th April 2022, 1130h Netizens' Comments With this video going viral, the queue to enter JB is gonna be much smoother🤭 Just gonna leave this here~ ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 18. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/574229/hydrogen-powered-car-alive-sales-up-84-percent/ While most analysts and consumers are talking about the shift from internal-combustion cars to electric ones, there’s another side to the green-car story that's quite unknown. Hydrogen fuel-cell cars showed modest but interesting figures last year, suggesting battery-electric power isn't the only path to the future. The data collected by JATO Dynamics indicates global sales of hydrogen fuel-cell cars totaled 15,500 units around the world in 2021. Although it is very small compared to the sales of other fuel types, the demand increased by 84 percent compared to 2020, when 8,400 fuel-cell vehicles found new owners. Even more impressive is the increase compared to pre-pandemic levels, which stands at 103 percent. Niche Segment, For How Long? It is extremely rare to see a hydrogen fuel-cell car on the streets. Since 2011, approximately 41,700 hydrogen vehicles have been sold – roughly the same number of cars sold in China by Volkswagen Group in just four days. Prices for these vehicles are high, and the lack of a strong hydrogen infrastructure contributes to the low sales figures. Also, there are just very few choices for hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles right now. To that point, 98 percent of the sales volume for hydrogen cars last year corresponded to only two models: the Hyundai Nexo and the Toyota Mirai. The remaining sales came from the phased-out Honda Clarity and a minuscule number of test cars from brands such as Renault, Maxus, BMW, and Peugeot. Nevertheless, future plans for hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles are in contrast to current sales volumes. Following the introduction of the second-generation Toyota Mirai, other automakers such as BMW and Volkswagen announced the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles along with a series of new battery-electric cars. For instance, BMW is planning to make 100 hydrogen test units of the X5 this year. Kia announced plans for a hydrogen fuel-cell lineup in 2028. Volkswagen Group is leaving all the fuel-cell research and development to teams at Audi, which already has more than 100 people involved. Daimler and Volvo trucks are also betting on this technology for their larger commercial vehicles. South Korea Leads The Way, By Far Until these in-development vehicles come to life, the statistics show South Korea is by far the largest hydrogen fuel-cell car market. The figures for 2021 put this nation ahead of all others by a significant margin. Thanks to the dominant position of Hyundai and the expansion of hydrogen infrastructure, South Korea accounts for 55 percent of the global volume. Sales jumped from almost 5,800 units in 2020 to just over 8,500 units last year. And it all comes down to one vehicle: the Hyundai Nexo. It's the best-selling hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle in the world, with 92 percent of all 9,208 global Nexo sales taking place in its home market of South Korea. The Nexo went on sale in 2018 but it's not the only hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle of note. The second-generation Toyota Mirai went on sale in 2019, and sales increased by a whopping 257 percent in 2021 as a result. Interestingly, the Mirai’s main market in 2021 wasn't South Korea, but actually, the United States. 2,629 units were sold there, followed by Japan at 2,438 units and 730 vehicles throughout Europe.
  19. Does this mean that this driver can’t drive through noisy areas? In a video published on 28th Feb, a Hyundai driver with his head in the clouds attempted to change lanes on the expressway. The cam driver, situated at Lane 1, was cruising along the road when she noticed the blue vehicle’s actions. Wanting to alert the Hyundai driver of her presence, she sounded her horn. This spooked the unalert driver, who sharply swerved to avoid a collision. His reaction reminds me of a chinchilla, a species that is easily spooked by anything and everything. However, as the driver had oversteered, this caused him to lose control of his car. The blue vehicle then hit the front of the cam car as it quickly slid towards the expressway barrier. This led to the Hyundai driver quickly shifting gears and reversing to avoid a second collision. The Hyundai’s sudden stunt scared other drivers on the rest of the lanes, all of whom narrowly avoided getting hit. As the blue Hyundai manages to stop his vehicle in the middle of the first and second lanes, the cam driver could be heard wailing loudly after being hit. Netizens’ reactions I agree that there should be a balance. While the Hyundai driver should have been more alert, the cam driver should have been prepared to anticipate a potential collision and acted accordingly. There is no way an alert driver would make a mistake like this (although that second swerve to avoid the barrier was pretty cool). 20. Angsty uncle takes time out of his day to teach a blur driver a lesson. The video starts with the cam car behind the uncle, who was driving a Mazda CX-3. As the lights changed, the black Mazda proceeded to make its turn, only to be rudely cut off by a white Hyundai Elantra that had turned into the wrong lane. This infuriated the uncle, who honked loudly to alert the white car of his presence. Here is a closer look: As the cam car continued driving down the road, the Mazda suddenly revved its engine and sped ahead. The uncle then slotted himself back into the first lane, right in front of the fella who had previously cut into his lane. He then hit his brakes, scaring both the Hyundai and the cam car driver. As the cam car came to a stop, the uncle from the black Mazda alighted from his vehicle and angrily approached the white Hyundai. He then gave a pretty stern verbal lashing to the driver before making his way back to his vehicle. The video ends with all three vehicles driving off after the uncle's confrontation. Netizens' reactions Seeing how he just turned into the wrong lane, I would guess that it's probably the Hyundai driver's first few times on the road. These people obviously need to be sent back to their driving schools! Was their instructor asleep at the wheel when they did their TP? 😒 If the uncle hadn't publicly confronted the fella, this would have been 100% in his favour. ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 21. Am thinking of changing to a sedan from a crossover, due to itchy backside, excuses are unsatisfactory fc and poor acceleration, before my legs are too weak to squat getting into car. What's your preference and what you think of each choice ? Hope to get some pointers from fellow forumers. Thanks.
  22. Have you seen the new Hyundai Palisade on our roads? It is normal if you haven't seen this monster of an SUV powered by a 3.5L V6 engine, pushing out a total of 374 BHP and 336Nm of torque. It is very rare to spot a Palisade cruising around. It is so rare that this taxi driver decides to leave his mark on the Palisade. Watch it here: What Happened? The accident occurred at Halus Link Junction towards Punggol. A Silvercab taxi and Hyundai Palisade travelled alongside as they approached a 2-lane filter lane. As they negotiated the gradual left turn, the Silvercab abruptly cuts into the lane of the Hyundai Palisade. The taxi driver's inability to keep within his lane while turning and his ignorance of not checking for surrounding traffic resulted in him sideswiping the Hyundai SUV. Despite being a larger vehicle, the massive 8-seater SUV was forced out of the lane, causing it to cut across the solid double white lines. It was fortunate that no oncoming traffic was present at that point in time. Thoughts TBH, it seems like a norm for taxi drivers to drive however they like. More often than not, it seems pretty common for taxi drivers to take up 2-lanes, drive recklessly or cut other drivers off in an abrupt manner. But now that I think of it, doesn't that describe Singapore drivers in general? Netizens' Comments Exactly how I feel. NGL, that is straight-up facts 💯 I wondered what substance he was high on for him to leave a comment like this. And then I saw his profile picture. Nuff said. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
