  1. Hi, I keep receiving reminders from my finance company that I had not send them the renewed insurance cert. Need to hiu them anot, I bochup their letter so far. Pay them so much in interest liao buay sai find out themselve I'm insured with who ah
  2. Hi Guys, Some advice on Auto Insurance. This August just paid up the AIG insurance for my 3 year old 1.5L car around $9XX.00. The breakdown for the discount include : 5% Certificate of Merit Disc 30% No-Claim Discount 5% Renewal Promotion Discount 10% On-the-Spot Discount Total = 50% However, recently just bought a new ride that mandate the insurance must tie with AXA for the 1st year. The SE told me I will only be given a discount of 30% under AXA. Is this the way it has to go when you change a car that has different car insurance tie ups? If after one year, i rejoined back AIG will they restore my discount with them?
  3. I got two question on my insurance, 1) Thinking of selling my car, I still have 20% NCD. Like to find out if i really sell my ride. Will I still able to keep my 20%NCD????How long is the validity period? 2) Let said I wanted to buy a brand new car can i change to 3rd party insurance on the second year ???
  4. My colleague registered a car under her name but the insurance is bought under her husband's name. There's a rule in the policy that she will not be covered under the insurance even as an unnamed driver should she drive the car and got into accident. I find it funny that any Dick, Tom and Harry can drive and be covered as an unnamed driver but not the owner. If it's the other way round and she has bought the insurance under her own name as well, her husband would be able to drive and be covered.
  5. Folks, kindly share with forumers which insurer do you currently use for your car? If you can share the amount that you paid, NCD etc that would be great I got the list above from http://coldfusion.insurancesupermart.com.s...y/directory.cfm Pardon me if some of them are not motor car insurer.
  6. Any bros on this insurance or claim from them before? What's your experience? Going to renew mine soon.
  7. Hi guys, I have been getting from AIG for 3 years. My brother-in-law lang ga the car the before so I guess my NCD is gone. I'm thinking of switching to NTUC which is obviously cheaper, isn't it? but many people say it's not good bla bla bla, I'm thinking of saving 600-700 dollars, its a lot leh... now paying about close to $1700 If can save, save la, I like to hear your comments. Thank you very much.
  8. Hi all, I've just settle some queries.. and got the feedback on this about car insurance. Scenario : Car A kana knock by 3rd party (Car B) Car A paper value - $38K Car A market value - $41K Repair cost quoted by workshop - $5K Conclusion : The insurer of the Car B will pay owner of Car A $38K & take the car AND WILL NOT PROCEED WITH THE REPAIR!! NOTE : Let assume Car B = Car A (Same car & everything else assumed to be the same), THEN THE INSURER OF CAR B WILL SCRAPED BOTH CAR GET THE PAPER VALUE & PAYS OWNER OF CAR A & B, THE PAPER VALUE!! So for those with car that's low in paper value & low in market value... pls take note.
  9. Saw Berita news today, so many cars missing up north. so next year insurance cost will also head north. S'PORE INSURANCE COS PAY OUT S$3 MLN FOR CARS STOLEN/MISSING IN M'SIA Submitted by / Contact Person: S'PORE INSURANCE COS PAY OUT S$3 MLN FOR CARS STOLEN/MISSING IN M'SIA SINGAPORE, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Insurance companies in Singapore are said tohave paid out more than S$3 million (RM6.6 million) in compensation the last twyears for cars from the republic reported to have gone missing or stolen inMalaysia. 10. Yo Bros, New topic of the day..How much did you pay for you skoda or other continental car? Compare to other Jap car..etc a sunny 1.6 wit 50% NCD pay $600+ while i paid $700+. I different about $120 i think. Presently using NTUC..but i will chnage next year if there is cheaper 1 out there. I just found out that their are cheaper insurer in the market which does not need to be check by IDAC in case of accident. Any Bros out there have cheaper insurer to share?
  11. Hi Forumers, If a driver is to name a person into his car insurance, is it going to increase his premium? If the person (to be added into the insurance) has claim before (about 6 years back), is it going to increase the premium too? Thanks.
  12. Ok...got a minor accident this morning. Just went to Starauto and the repair cost is about 900 bucks. And this doesn't include the air-con condenser which was damage a little. My question now is should I claim my insurance? If I claim, they will change the front grills, the bumper, the headlights, the condenser, anything they can change, they will change. If I don't claim, they will just repair here and there and I will have to live with the condenser (which is still cold and working, but it clear that some fins are damage) My previous NCD is only 10% which is about $130. Excess is $500 bucks. Let's say they will load another 30% to my initial premium which comes to about another 400. Total I lose if I claim will be about $1030. Now if I repair, own pocket money is 900 bucks. If I claim I will lose 1030. Both quite close, but if claim, I have new parts for almost everything that even has a small scratch... Which way should I go? Is there further things that I need to know? Thanks
  13. Hi, I saw some posting here that a Brother here is selling motor insurance from HSBC. My son is going to bid for a car and he will get it this time and my Aveo is comming up for renewal. So if any of you have dealings with HSBC or any other company except NTUC please drop me mail, thanks.

  15. What the insurance agent claim : Pros : 15% reduction on premium reduction of excess in case of accident claim 9 months of warranty for repair ....etc What are the "cons" ? Will "used" part or OEM part (not original manufacturer supply) being used for repair in such workshop ? STAR/ComfortDelgro Eng is one of the listed appointed workshop, any comment on them ? 2002 S40 owner Helloworld88
  16. Hi All: pardon this newbie again. I am in the midst of choosing car insurance. 1st car, less than 1 year driving experience, thus my 1st yr insurance is expensive, more than $1800 though it is AVEO 1.4. initially i intended to use my dad name so that the insurance is lower, and i can take over few years later (with more driving experience years), my friend mentioned that it wasnt worth the trouble as i may be paying the same as now, due to inflation and raising insurance cost, and no-claim bonus will not be applicable. NTUC offers the lowerest rate but heard many stories of difficult to claim and other rigid rules, any bros here can verify? AIG offers quite premium rate, so far words has it that they are better. Any comments? 1 friend told me that nowadays, most car insurance are the same, they require you to go to designated autoshops, only matters how many autoshops they have. As such no difference going to NTUC or AIG. True? I am also thinking of getting car insurance outside (not from Starauto) is it advisable?
  17. Hello everyone, I'd like to know if anyone/owners can provide indicative annual insurance premiums for:- 1. Getz 3-door 1.6 manual 2. Getz 5-door 1.3 auto ... for 30-year old, more than 11 years driving experience, and no NCD? And what if they are off-peak cars; any reductions? Both car prices are similar, but insurance prices may be the deciding factor. Cheers.
  18. Called up NTUC and they told me they only accept with 50% NCD. Else they don't insure. AXA doesn't insure as well. #&"&%!%$#!%!% Oh yeah I have never owned a car.
  19. Hi, Quick question. Is there an open list to what car is under which insurance category? Order of increasing premiums would probably be (correct me if I'm wrong) Sedan Coupe Turbo High-Performance (or something like that) But how would you know if a car is under High-Performance? Is there some sort of a benchmark?

  23. Am tempted to shop around for a bodykit. But am curious to find out if our insurance cover your bodykit in the event of a "sway sway" accident? Meaning if I get into an accident and my bodykit like my chio chio spoiler or grille kenna damaged beyond repair ... what will happen? 1. Will the repair workshop resusitate the car to its stock state or 2. Will the repair workshop resusitate the car to your chio chio state with the cosmetics mod? 3. Or do you claim the money you spent on the mods and get a new set installed instead of buying the stock set from the car agent? Gut feel is it will be 1 but hoping some brudders here can advise?
