  1. Hi,currently using Liberty Insurance coming to a year soon,so far no claim.. Need to renew in 2 months time, need to know does any bro have any good/bad experence with them.. Would appreciate any comments to help me in whether continuing with them or shop for others.. Thanks..
  2. My wife was hit by a car while crossing on a pedestrian crossing. She suffered a fractured knee for which she was hospitalised for 1 day and is on 2 month MC. according to the doctor, full recovery may take upto 6 months or more. We contacted the insurance company of the driver for the process about filing 3rd party claim. the insurance company has proposed that they will be appointing an investigator who will contact us and assess about the medical claims and other damages which the insurance company will pay us. however we have the option to counter propose and reject if we feel the offer is too low. No lawyers are involved in the process till now. 1. Our Hospitalisation expenses (including MRI scan & CT scan) and the subsequent follow up > 5k till now. There will be monthly follow ups and she will need to go for rehab and physio for at least 6 months( may be weekly sessions, not sure yet) 2. I understand that we can file for injury claims within 3 years following the accident. 3. we have filed a police report and case is under investigation. We have submitted all the documents to the IO. So my queries are- 1. How impartial are these 3rd party investigators in assessing the claims and offer of compensation. 2. as the follow up is prolonged should we wait for the injury to get better and see whether there are any complications or should we settle it now. Most of the friends i have talked to are asking me to talk to a lawyer, but i understand that they charge a lot or may take a portion of the compensation which is offered. so is it really necessary to engage a lawyer or we can just proceed without one. Any help and advise will be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  3. Hello all. I tried doing a search on the above topic but to no avail May I check with those folks here if they hv the answer? I currently hv a car under my name. 50% NCD etc. My wife drive another but her car is totaled and her NCD is back to 0%. If I am to get another car for her but register under my name, I understand stand that the new car will start from 0% NCD as my other car has the 50%. Will the 2nd car under my name will have the NCD increased by 10% each year if no claims? Cos the insurance under my wife name now will be more than even my 0%. Kindly advise. Thank u

  7. I might be making a mid-career switch. I was at a job fair recently and dropped my particulars at one of the booths. One international insurance company called me up for an interview. I am not sure if I should attend as I am quite skeptical about the insurance line. All these while, I have been trained (heavily) in semiconductor-engineering and going into the insurance line is something really new to me. Any insurance agents out there? How's career as an insurance agent/financial planner, need your inputs. HELP!

  11. 8 charged for motor vehicle insurance fraud By Imelda Saad | Posted: 03 September 2010 1251 hrs Photos 1 of 1 SINGAPORE: Eight people were hauled to Court Friday for offences relating to motor vehicle insurance fraud. One suspect was rounded up after an insurance company alerted the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) of a scam in 2009. The case involved fraudulent personal injury claims made by a 38-year-old man for road traffic related accidents. CAD investigations showed that the suspect had staged an accident to make insurance claims for damages and personal injury. He is alleged to have caused the accident by wilfully applying the brakes to abruptly slow down the car that he was driving. This caused a lorry which was approaching from behind to collide with the rear of the car. The other suspects are men aged between 31 and 53. They are believed to have conspired to cheat insurers by engaging law firms to initiate personal injury proceedings. It's alleged the men had led insurers into believing that they were passengers in vehicles which were involved in accidents. Anyone convicted of cheating can be jailed up to 10 years and fined. The 38-year-old suspect in the first case faces an additional charge of reckless driving. If convicted, he could be fined up to S$3,000 and jailed up to 12 months. Director of the Commercial Affairs Department Mr Ong Hian Sun said: "Police take a very serious view of such offences. We will not hesitate to take firm action against perpetrators of such crimes." -CNA/wk ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [furious] tmd why dont he attempt to jam break in front of a 5 tonner. As if Sg auto insurance is not enough, morons like this should be lined up and shot

  14. bros - wanna see if anyone has any experience my family has a 2012 VW Jetta 1.4, but don't drive often as parents retired and driving to town is damn ex. insurance is currently on axa under mum, 50% ncd ~900. the car only drive ~6-7000km / year, so thinking of trying some of the low mileage plan when renewal comes. There are a few I notice - a) NTUC: 20% off only if 7000km, and must renew then next year get the discount b) DA: under 8000km got discount, but also not much, i think 20% c) Got one I just saw of fb called auto armour that gives 50% off immediately for under 6000km, then pay per kilo after that. Quite cheap, like $380 only. any one try before? no reviews like that, but when i dig looks like they are supported by etiqa... so should be ok? thnkx in advance
  15. Anyone knows what are the difference of a private medical insurance (paid with cash) vs a medishield private integrated plan which allows you to pay via medisave. I understand that you can add a rider(pay cash) to the medishield one to take care of the deductible and co-insurance. so in that case then there is no difference to the pure private vs the medishield private plans? or is there a catch somewhere? because it seems that the medishield private plans offer a better deal for the same type of benefits.
  16. was involved in an car accident, and i am not at fault. aka, people bang me from the back. What should i do as my car is due for scrap 1 month+ away. is there still anything i can claim? workshop says may not be able to claim repair cuz of COE expiring soon, insurance may not pay out. anything i can claim from the third party? possible to claim car down time?
  17. If let's say an OPC got involved in an accident during the restricted hours without an e-Day License, will there be insurance coverage ?
  18. Dear MCFer brudders n sysders, like to hear some opinions and advices. My sister(real one) was involved in a minor accident some 7 to 8 months ago, lightly rear ended the other car and dented his bumper. She lodged her accident report promptly at that time within 24 hours with A##. But nothing happened since. By the way, she has since scrapped the car and A## had also since refunded her unused insurance premium balance. Heres the thing. This morning(after 7 to 8 months) she received a letter from A## saying that a 3rd claim has been made against her, and is asking for details. Question - is she liable still? since the 3rd party did not respond all this while. Is this something for A## to sort out with the other side? I mean, how do we know that the other party did not now try to inflate damages claim or claim for things that are over n above n not related to the accident 7 months ago? IS A## so stupid or is there a case here.
  19. My car insurance is due for renewal. This car is fully paid up and left 2 years before COE expired. I was thinking should i go for: 1) Comprehensive - about $1600 2) Third Party only - about $900 3) Third Party with Fire and Theft - about $800 Any advise?
  20. I am thinking of getting home insurance to cover renovation and home content. Please share any advise and past claim experience.
  21. Hi, Had a conflicting opinion with one of my friends and i hope someone with similar experience can clarify. This is the situation. *The round about is only 1 lane. not 2 or 3 lanes.* Car A is at the small road entering the round about. Car B is at the round about but at a distance away. Car A entered the round about (entire car in the lane) when Car B is approaching. Car B then cut in from the right to overtake Car A causing Car A to bang/"bua" the side door towards the rear bumper of Car B. Whose fault is it? IMO, it's car B. or 50-50. But a friend of mine insisted it's car A and that i should retake my BTT as car B has the right of way. I agree car B has the right of way but right of way doesn't give the green light to bang someone right? In this instance, what is the likely result of the insurance claim? My stand was 50-50. But again, my friend stated 100% fault on Car A. Would be good if i learnt something from someone that has experienced this. TIA
  22. hi, my son is getting his driving license soon. do i need to add his name into my motor insurance if he drives only occasionally (weekly) and when i am sitting beside him? how much would it costs (estimate) to add a new driver who is 18 onto my existing motor insurance coverage? my current coverage is $600+ what if (touch wood) when his name is not included in my motor insurance and we hit someone when he was the driver, would the insurance still cover us? am not sure about the insurance coverage now comparing to my time when i was a teen driving my dad's car. TIA
  23. Question on motor insurance policy. If your own insurance allows you to go to approved workshops only (does not include AD workshop), does it mean: In the case where you are claiming 100% against another car, you can still go to any workshop (including AD workshop), since ur using another car's insurance? I am deciding between 2 insurance policies. And the difference is that one allows all workshops and the other doesn't. And the former is more expensive. Thanks.
  24. Hi all, Would just like to enquire if any people here has got any recommendations regarding car insurance companies, in terms of price of policy(important), claim excess, service (if any) ... asking cos time to re-new insurance policy coming up soon, thanks for all replies
