  1. SINGAPORE - Bus driver Saw Cheong Seng did not pay much attention to a bag that a passenger handed to him on Friday morning (May 10) while he was driving service 63. He gave it a quick glance and saw stacks of paper inside, which the 59-year-old thought were betting slips. But after he completed his round at the Eunos Bus Interchange, the senior bus captain was stunned to find the bag had two stacks of $100 and $50 notes, each several centimetres thick. The money in the bag added up to $39,602.10. The passenger, who handed the bag to Mr Saw at around 8.40am at the bus stop across the street from the Outram Park MRT station, had said another passenger had left it behind. Mr Saw gave the bag with the money to the interchange manager. The money was subsequently handed to the police, a spokesman for SBS Transit said, adding that a police report had been made. Mr Saw, a bus driver with the company for 13 years, said he wanted to make sure every cent was returned to its rightful owner. "I would not be able to sleep tonight if I took this sum of money that does not belong to me," he told The Straits Times in Chinese on Friday evening. "I would feel troubled if my passengers are not able to get back their lost items, especially their money." https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/about-40000-left-behind-in-bus-driver-hands-it-to-police
  2. Hi everyone, not sure if anyone encountered this before. Basically, I was trying to get some tissue from my car while holding onto the pump. Didn't press the lever but there was leftover petrol in the nozzle and it spill onto my car door. Wiped it down immediately. While the leather seems fine, there are ugly white trails on the plastic now. Anyone has solutions to that? Thanks!
  3. Hi Need some advise what to do for OPC Car with COE left 1 year? Should I use till the end of COE? It has very low milage and sending it for scrapped is kinda of wasted If I sell my car what is the approx. value I can get? Will I get a better price If I renew for another 5 years of COE? or/and upgrade to the black plate?

I have already changed the brake pads, cyclinder and the brake shoe and i even changed my absorbers but it still happens. It is a drum brake system on the rear and my car is a nissan latio. My regular workshop is unable to pin point to the problem, would appreciate some views from the forum. Thank you in advanced!
  5. If I am turning left (from a small road) into main road, while car on opposite road is making u-turn onto the same main road, who should give way ? Does it matter if U-turn point is before, at or after the Left turn point ? An example is Holland Road (from old Holland Road) leading into Ulu Pandan/Holland Road. https://www.google.com.sg/maps/place/Holland+Village/@1.3204469,103.7811163,19.5z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x31da1a6b703bb689:0xabdb7019b6ce5e9https://www.google.com.sg/maps/place/Holland+Village/@1.3204469,103.7811163,19.5z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x31da1a6b703bb689:0xabdb7019b6ce5e9 Cant remember this being mentioned during driving lessons ... or maybe I forgot ...

  8. As we move on, let's keep the flame burning and keep our remembrances here as well as discuss as fellow MCFers how we can do our part going forward! Same rules apply here and let's agree to disagree on issues. TOxic statements will be removed accordingly. The discretion is up to the mods and fellow MCFers who will also decide as they let us know. I start: 1. It taught me that as singaporeans, we CAN rise to the occasion! Never have I seen such an overpowering of coming together as ONE NATION. WE have shown it and I am very confident that this is in our blood now! 2. Gratitude runs in all of us and we know where we came from and who we are thankful for. This will last a long time. 3. Success lie not in one man, BUT ONE PERSON steers the ship and the fellow teammates play their part and that is what teamwork is all about! Thank you
  9. Dear All, My car left close to 2 years before COE expire. Any recommendations for tyres? Currently I am on Bridgestone RE002, size is 225/45R17. Prefer to change more economical brand/ model. Thanks!
  10. A cigarette butt landed on my roof top (likely thrown by someone on the second or third floor) and it left a yellowish burnt mark about a 10 cent coin in size. Would someone be kind enough to let me know how to remove this burnt mark?
  11. I'm looking for ppl selling their 9 year old ride...pls pm me :) you guys think its worth it to buy over a 9 year old car at close to scrap value?
  12. Dear forumners, Recently I have just changed my 4 tyres. After changing, I realized that the car will drift slightly to the left in a short moment. Previously it wasn't like that, I could go straight for as long as I wanted without even literally touching the steering wheel. A week later I went to do a wheel alignment and the person gave me a paper saying "L -0.41 , R -1.12". After alignment, the car was still drifting to the left without much improvement. I asked the mechanic what was the problem, and he showed me that the front left tyre is nearer to the door than the front right tyre. May I know what causes this, and what can I ask the next mechanic to check on? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
  13. Tyres size 205/60r16. where to find cheap replacements since car scraping in 6mth time. 2nd tyres in Sg or JB cheaper?
  14. Okay, even if we do have 53.3 years of oil left in the world, we could actually console ourselves considering this year's estimate is a good 1.1 percent improvement over last year's estimation. Fret not, I am not mad because the yearly estimates are pretty inaccurate actually, considering that the 44.2 billion barrels of oil that USA has in reserve is a 26 percent increase over older estimates. Fortunately for the petrolheads, it is very likely we won't be running out of fuel yet because according to USA Today, new technology such as horizontal drilling into an oil shale is likely to help unlock an additional 75 billion barrels from the shale formations in the Permian Basin of Texas. And great news, there are quite a few other shale oil operations in the United States that have potentially even more oil. So it is not as bad then. Very glad combustion engines still have many more years left in them!

  16. Has some scratches on left front bumper. 2 slices of paint are gone exposing the black metal. I went to a workshop, and was quoted 150 for repainting the entire left bumper. Is there any other alternative? Is 150 for half front bumer reasonable?
  17. Sad to hear this... my daughter posted on my Facebook asking if I remember buying a tin of milo form her, honestly I could not. I need to to more for society instead of lamenting about my own current status. Heavy heart. Does anyone know where her Funeral is being held? I wanna do my part, small but something. God be with her all the way. http://singapore.coconuts.co/2014/06/11/auntie-cineleisure-passed-away-morning
  18. I was reading TRS when i noticed that Lee holds his chopsticks with his left hands.. I always thought that it was customary to use the right hand for the chopsticks... but the way he holds it looks very unnatural is he trying to rub shoulders with MY's PM? or trying to create a space between them? is there any political meaning to this posture? if he used his right hand then he has to stand behind Najib.. a picture tell a thousand words. i think that he switched to the left to distance himself from najib, notice the gap between them. think this reflects the politics?
  19. May I know why some drivers only like to filter in near the end of the filter lane when doing these turns? traffic condition is normal and is not like they are doing a last min switch also. For U-turns at those non traffic light junctions for example, they like to do this stunt with their vehicle body still at the centre of the filter line right at the turn, which will therefore cause obstruction to vehicles behind that are going straight on that fast lane, sometimes have to jam brake if they never siginal their intention. Issit for easier turning? but the opposite direction is a 3 or 4 lanes road, even a big lorry can do the u-turn with their whole vehicle body inside the filter lane
  20. Extracted from another forum... Hi everyone, I’m a 20-year-old Atheist and former Muslim from Singapore. I’ll be withholding my real name to protect my identity. Like many other Muslims, I was raised while being taught Islamic values and attended Madrasah/Sunday school until I was 16. I didn’t wear a hijab/tudung or pray daily but I claimed I was proud to be a Muslim. I defended Islam online whenever it was under attack and ignored all the supposed evils of Islam brought up by people I debated. I looked down on people who left Islam and judged them for it. Now that I think about it, I was blinded by my love for the religion and I did not realise it. I first started questioning Islam and religion not long after I stopped attending Madrasah. I did not want to be a Muslim simply because Mummy told me so and because it just so happened I was born into Islam. I was at the age where most teens think about their place in life. I thought about my purpose. I read books on Philosophy which had chapters on God and the logical impossibility of his existence. The road to my apostasy was a slow process. I was a self-professed Agnostic for several years. I questioned Islam and religion in general, but I never outright denied the existence of the Muslim God. Looking back, I now see that I was too afraid to leave the religion. I believed in God just in case, as in Pascal’s wager. I didn’t realise back then that I had a 1 in 3000 chance of believing in the right God. After all, who’s to say Zeus doesn’t exist? Or Yahweh? How can Muslims know for sure that Allah is the one true God? murtad2 I had an irrational fear that something horrible would happen to me once I apostatised. I blame Islam for this – from a very young age, Muslims are ingrained with the fear of Hell, the fear of a vengeful God and the idea that apostasy is unthinkable (God forbid!). That’s Islam for you, using fear as a tool to ensure submission. I eventually realised the concept of God is logically flawed. I read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, whom I now look up to. I questioned further when I read the following Epicurus quote: “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” I also love using this argument as believers cannot answer it: If God is as great and merciful, then why does he condemn thinking men and women who question his existence to Hell for eternity (according to the Bible, Quran and Torah, etc)? Why are they condemned just for not bowing down to him, even those who were morally upright in their lifetimes? Is he that petty and narcissistic? 6d545-budak-melayu-murtad The way I see it, if a God really does exist and if he’s everything people claim him to be, I have nothing to worry about. He would recognise that I am not a bad person despite the many mistakes I have committed. Today, I consider myself an Atheist and a Humanist. For those who are unaware, I quote: “Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without supernaturalism, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.” I also started to have issues with Islam. One of the things I don’t like about Islam is its treatment of women. Justify it all you want (just as I did back when I believed) but it degrades women. For example, I don’t agree with women having to cover themselves up and take the blame for inciting lust in men. When I was 19, I finally declared my Atheism and apostasy. I’m happier now that I no longer have a fear of God and Hell and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I don’t live to please God anymore. Basically, to me that’s all there is to it – we live then we die, so we might as well make the most of it. As of today, I strive to be a good person. You don’t have to believe in God to be morally upright. I knew I no longer had a reason to be afraid. Unfortunately, I remain in the closet. It’s especially difficult being an ex-Muslim Atheist. I doubt my family would be very happy to hear the news when I tell them in the future. To those of you who believe, do take a moment to question all you have been told. Do not have blind faith. I wish you all the best. Source: http://bit.ly/1fBtpFe
