  1. Basically a Toyota Yaris Cross in a tuxedo. Rumors of a fancier Yaris Cross have been swirling around for years and now the Lexus LBX is officially here. Positioned below the UX and serving as the new entry-level model, the tiny crossover is an indirect replacement for the defunct CT hatchback. It rides on the same GA-B platform as its Toyota sibling but with different styling to better fit Lexus' design language both inside and out. The LBX is 4,190 millimeters long, 1,825 mm wide, and 1,545 mm tall, while having a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. Riding on 18-inch wheels as standard equipment, the petite Lexus is actually slightly bigger than the Yaris Cross and tips the scales at 1,280 kilograms. It will be offered with a choice between front- and all-wheel drive, with all configurations coming exclusively with a continuously variable transmission. At the heart of the LBX is a hybrid powertrain based around a three-cylinder, 1.5-liter gasoline engine. It produces a combined output of 134 horsepower (100 kilowatts - just nice in cat A) and a maximum torque of 185 Newton-meters. It's enough electrified punch for a 0 to 100 km/h run in 9.2 seconds and a maximum towing capacity of 750 kilograms. All versions of the latest Lexus get a MacPherson strut front suspension while the rear uses a torsion beam for the FWD models and a double wishbone if you opt for AWD. Although the technical specifications for the latter have yet to be disclosed but it will add an electric motor at the rear. Interestingly, the small crossover has an aluminum hood as well as molded resin wheel arches, rockers, and lower door sections to keep weight down. Stepping inside, the LBX boasts a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster with an optional head-up display joined by a 9.8-inch touchscreen. The infotainment supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but only the former has wireless connectivity. Lexus has once again teamed up with Mark Levinson, which supplies the 13-speaker sound system that comes along with a subwoofer. Stick to the front-wheel-drive model and you get a cargo capacity of 332 liters with the rear seats in place. The AWD-equipped LBX is likely to be less practical due to the extra hardware installed at the back. Lexus mentions it hasn't made any compromises in terms of quality and attention even though this is the new entry-level model. The LBX is the company's first model for which development primarily took place in Europe. It's scheduled to enter production by the end of this year and go on sale in Europe along with additional markets in early 2024.

Lexus tried to shove an extra set of seats in the standard-wheelbase RX, which resulted in a horribly cramped third row and even less usable cargo space than its two-row counterpart. So Lexus ditched the RX L with the latest generation of RX. Ultimately, that was the right move. The new Lexus TX is a proper three-row SUV. It has space for seven normal-sized adults and their luggage, with the premium fit and finish you expect from Lexus. Based on the also-good Toyota Grand Highlander, the Lexus TX has three powertrain options to choose from. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder making 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The next-up, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid, pushes out 273 hp and 339 lb-ft. The range-topping 3.5-liter V6 plug-in-hybrid makes a hearty 404 hp. The base engine is just fine in this TX 350 trim. Power arrives smoothly and there’s just enough of it to move the massive TX out of its own way. Considering it takes 7.8 seconds for this exact TX to reach 60 miles per hour, you won't win any stoplight drag races against other luxury three-rows with torquier engines. And you will have to bury your foot deeply into the accelerator to get this hefty SUV up to speed; the Lexus TX weighs 4,575 pounds in this spec. But as with any Lexus south of an F model, performance isn't the purpose here. The TX is the king of comfort and has a wonderfully isolated ride over most surfaces. On the highway the suspension feels buttery smooth, quickly quashing bumps and undulations, and the cabin is whisper quiet thanks to excellent sound deadening. Lexus makes some of the best chairs in the business and that's mostly true here. The shape is great, the bolstering is excellent, and there's ample butt and back support. But much like the front seats in the Grand Highlander, the bottom of the seat is too short and doesn't come with extended thigh support for lanky lads like myself. The second and third rows, though – relative to the class – are superb. The rearmost bench has enough headroom and legroom to seat two average-sized adults comfortably, or three bigger children. And there's still a healthy 20.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row – 12.8 more than the outgoing RX L. Fold the third row and that storage figure jumps to 54.7 cubic feet, while dropping the second row improves that number to 97.0 cubic feet. I managed to shove a king-size mattress with a few small bags and boxes in the back of the TX with no issue. It's a hauling champ – just be careful not to scuff up the upholstery. Most of the cabin surfaces within reach are soft to the touch, while the faux NuLuxe leather covering the seats and other surfaces looks and feels like the real thing. A sturdy piece of aluminum washes over the dash, accenting the pleather and soft plastic that covers most of the front console. There is a big chunk of piano-black plastic around the shifter and cup holders, which catches fingerprints like a magnet – but it's the only unsavory trim piece in the cabin. Every TX comes standard with Lexus's Safety System+ 3.0 driver-assistance suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist, among others. And outside some of the true hands-free systems, Safety Sense is about as good as it gets. It keeps the SUV centered in the lane, without ping-ponging it from side to side, while delivering smooth throttle and braking inputs that react nicely to the flow of traffic. The base TX 350 with front-wheel drive sips fuel at a rate of 21 miles per gallon city, 27 highway, and 23 combined – better than the most efficient Infiniti QX60 and Acura MDX models by a good margin. But if it's efficiency you're after, the TX plug-in hybrid returns 27 miles per gallon combined and reaches up to 33 miles of electric driving. All that comfort, capability, and efficiency won’t cost you much, believe it or not. The Lexus TX starts at just $55,050 with destination and handling for the 350 model with front-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive version tested here adds an extra $1,600, starting at $56,650. The range-topping plug-in-hybrid model costs $78,050. If you want things like real leather, bigger wheels (up to 22 inches), and more technology – like a head-up display – you’ll have to splurge on the Luxury model. That version starts at $60,950 with front-wheel drive or $62,500 with all-wheel drive. Regardless of trim, Lexus finally figured out how to make a great three-row SUV. It took them long enough. With an excellent selection of powertrains, a supremely comfortable cabin, and tons of cargo, luxury buyers who require loads of space need look no further.

Images of the car's exterior and interior have been released ahead of its public debut at the Geneva motor show, showing that it will also be one of the brand's most aggressive-looking models. Inside, there's a new widescreen infotainment system that appears related to the one used in the Lexus LS. The small SUV, which brings the fight to the Jaguar E-Pace andMercedes-Benz GLA, stems from the UX concept, which was revealed at the Paris motor show in 2016. The UX will be powered by a mix of internal combustion engine and traditional hybrid powertrains, as proven by Lexus’s trademarking of UX200, UX250 and UX250h monikers following the concept’s reveal. This suggests the car will share engines with lower-end NX SUV models and the ageing CT hatchback. It is thought that the UX will eventually replace the CT. Features of the production car will be toned down from those of the concept; the large, intricate wheels and door cameras in place of mirrors are the first to go. Rivals range in length from 4400mm to 4450mm, so it’s likely that the UX will sit somewhere in the middle. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but its closest competitors are priced £29,000-£35,000. The NX occupies the lower end of the segment’s price range, so it’s likely that the UX will do the same, with a price tag of less than £30,000 expected. The Lexus RX L, a seven-seat version of its large SUV featuring three rows of seats, will make its European debut at the show, alongisde the Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept, first revealed at the Detroit motor show in early January.

  11. Those who own Lexus of the following models IS, GS and RC from years 2013-2017 take note of the potential servo motor issue of the Air-Con. Basically, if you adjust the temperature to "HI" and/or turn on the windscreen or window heater and then subsequently turn it down to cooling temperature, there is a potential that the driver's side blower might still be blowing hot air due to the servo motor electrical malfunction. Most of us do not turn the temperature to high, hence, will never encounter this issue till you change coolant, do AC maintenance or accidentally changed the temperature to high, so won't encounter this till years after purchase. However, Lexus is conducting recall and repair for free for U.S and Canada markets at least as they encounter this issue when winter hits. Just U.S alone, they are recalling over 300k vehicles of the various models to repair for free, even beyond the basic warranty period, up to 7 years. So, if your vehicle is under warranty, please check whether you have this issue and get if fixed, or if you are looking to purchase a used Lexus of the various affected models, can also check for the malfunction. Local dealer in SG will not repair for you FOC if warranty has lapsed, and the most they will do is "reset" for you and the problem will eventually recur. I attach the links of the recall announced by U.S. NHTSA. The steps to replicate the issue varies as there are up to 8 servo motors, but mainly, adjust the temperature up to "Hi" and/or turn on the window/windscreen heater for awhile and then bring down to "Lo" or 20 deg or lower and check whether there is uneven AC temperature, especially on driver side.   13. Hello all, I'm considering buying a used car and need your help to decide if it's a good deal or not. The car is a 2018 Lexus RX350 with a 3.5L V6 engine, and it has a salvage title. The price is $10,200. I'm familiar with the brand and model, and I'm aware that the salvage title is an issue. My question is, is the price low enough that it's worth taking a chance on the vehicle? I understand that it may be difficult to get it repaired if something goes wrong and it might be more expensive than normal. I'm also curious to hear any other thoughts or advice about this particular car or about buying a salvage title car in general. What do you think? Should I buy it or not? "We aim to develop a next-generation battery EV in the Lexus brand in which everything from batteries and platforms to the way the car is built will be optimized for BEVs," said Koji Sato. As current chief of the brand, he oversaw the development of the first electric Lexus, the RZ, which is expected to be launched this year. BEVs refer to all-electric vehicles that are generally called EVs by other automakers, but Toyota uses this name to distinguish them from the hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fuel-cell vehicles that it also makes. Sato, who will replace Akio Toyoda in April as the new president and CEO of Toyota, made a speech and answered reporters' questions at a news conference on Monday. He named seven others who will form the new management team with him and talked about his plan to transform Toyota from a carmaker to a mobility company. "To deliver appealing BEVs, we need to drastically change the way we do business, from manufacturing to sales and service, with a BEV-first mindset," Sato said. "Lexus will lead this transformation." Toyota has faced criticism from environmentalists and investors for failing to catch up with its peers in the development of EVs. Sato pointed out that the emphasis on the electrification of Lexus was part of Toyota's goal to provide a range of vehicles that can meet demand from all buyers. "The energy situation is different in each country, and Toyota's unchanging policy is to consider the circumstances of each country," he said. Asked about concerns over Toyota's EV strategy, Sato said he regretted that there were "communication issues" around the matter. Toyota's EV strategy is for the mid to long term and it is currently focused on energy-saving efforts and cutting emissions from its models by using hydrogen fuel-cells and other technologies in addition to batteries, as well as in its day-to-day business operations.
  16. RX500h F Sport RX500h RX450h+ The 2023 Lexus RX rides on the GA-K platform, and the fresh underpinnings let the vehicle shed up to 89 Kg compared to the previous generation. Inside, the new RX has an infotainment screen with a lower position that puts it next to the instrument cluster rather than being on top of the dashboard. A display as large as 14 inches is available. Other available upgrades include a panorama glass roof and a head-up display. Buyers have six upholstery color choices: Macadamia, Black, Birch, Palomino, Peppercorn, and Rioja Red.   19. Been a late comer to the EV era, I think this show hand / all-in moment is Toyota way of playing catch up (heh look here, I have everything ready ok!)... But the fact remain that they are quite far behind other big names from Europe, Korea and China. During the media briefing on battery EV strategies, Akio Toyoda shocked the automotive world by unveiling 15 fully electric concepts previewing future models of Toyota and Lexus. What must be the largest rollout of concept cars in history includes everything you can imagine, from city cars, sedans, SUVs of all shapes and sizes to pickups and sportscars. Some of them are based on existing models, but there are also several all-new vehicles based on the EV-dedicated e-TNGA architecture. The “showroom of the future” as Akio Toyoda called it, had a bunch of other EVs hiding behind the curtain. The lineup for the Lexus brand includes its first dedicated EV called the RZ which is the production version of the LF-Z Electrified concept. Then there is a sports battery EV that looks like the spiritual successor of the LF-A with an expected cruising range of over 700 km (435 miles) thanks to solid-state batteries, and an expected 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in the low 2-second range. Additionally, we saw full-size prototypes of a large SUV (Lexus Electrified SUV) and an unnamed Lexus-branded sporty sedan. The latter also appeared in hatchback form in the official renderings, alongside a 2+2 cabriolet featuring similar styling. Last but not least, Akio Toyoda showed us another series of models calling them “the diverse Toyota EVs”. These include commercial vehicles like an autonomous shuttle bus, a compact van designed for both business and leisure, and a versatile urban EV. The Compact Cruiser EV incorporates styling features from the FJ Cruiser in what could become an off-road-focused five-door EV. Next to it, there is Toyota’s first electric dual-cab pickup which appears to be similar to the Hilux or the Tacoma in terms of dimensions but gets modern design features inspired by the larger Tundra. The Small SU EV looks like an electric CH-R with a dynamic styling approach, while the Crossover EV is slightly larger and more subtle in terms of exterior design, likely previewing Toyota’s entry into the C-SUV segment. Finally, there is an EV sportscar with mid-engined proportions and a two-seater cabin which could become the future MR2 serving as Toyota’s treat for petrolheads. T.B.C.

After entering the AYE, a Honda HRV driver decided to perform something bizarre - he changed lane into a red Lexus ES not once but TWICE, despite having empty pockets of space to switch lanes into. During the second bump, the Lexus ES was forced into lane 2 of the AYE, causing it to cut off a Shopee Xpress van. As a result, the Shopee Xpress van had to brake hard to avoid rear-ending the Lexus ES. However, a motorcyclist riding behind the van could not react in time and smashed into the van, resulting in the motorcyclist flipping over. Idk about you, but the Honda HRV driver ought to be handed some heavy consequences for his actions. It is as clear as daylight that the Honda HRV driver did not bother checking his blindspot before changing lanes at the very last minute, which caused the accidents. Netizens' Comments Likely, the Honda HRV didn't even know about the presence of the red Lexus because he didn't bother turning his head to check his blindspot. I might be wrong, but it seems like the Honda HRV performed a hit and run after side swiping the red Lexus ES twice....   24. A pet peeve of mine is when commercial vehicles (Eg. Vans, lorries, tipper trucks) travel on lane 2 of the expressway. And I am certain this is a pet peeve of many drivers in Singapore. Due to the speed limit imposed on these vehicles, they often cause a slow down in the lane they are travelling in (assuming traffic is clear and they are driving under the speed limit). The accident above involved a lorry (cam-vehicle) and a Lexus RX300 SUV along lane 2 of an expressway. The lorry was travelling along lane 2 of the expressway at a constant speed before the reckless Lexus SUV decided to cut in front of it abruptly. Just as the Lexus RX300 switched lanes and accelerated, the car in front of the Lexus SUV also switched lanes simultaneously. As a result, the Lexus SUV performed an e-brake to prevent rear-ending the car in front of it. Unfortunately, the lorry travelling behind the Lexus SUV could not react in time and rear-ended the Lexus SUV with a significant amount of impact, shattering its rear window. It is noteworthy that the lorry was not travelling above the speed limit, nor was it speeding, as the lorry alarm could not be heard throughout the video.
