The seventh generation Lexus ES will be the first to be introduced to markets in Western Europe. It follows the new LS flagship sedan and LC coupe in carrying forward a new chapter in Lexus design that has a much stronger emotional quality. The eye-catching styling, made possible by the use of an all-new Global Architecture - K (GA-K) platform, will have particular appeal to customers in the region, together with a more engaging driving experience and even higher safety provisions. The new ES is built on the all-new Global Architecture - K (GA-K) platform, giving Lexus the opportunity to explore the limits of mid-size luxury sedan design. The car is 65 mm longer (4,980 mm), 5 mm lower (1,445 mm) and 45 mm wider (1,865 mm) than its predecessor. The 50 mm longer wheelbase (2,870 mm) allows the wheels to be pushed closer to the car's corners, with wider front and rear treads (+10 and +37 mm). The range will include the ES 300h, on sale from December 2018, powered by a new self-charging hybrid system, together with the ES 200, ES 250 and ES 350 petrol engine models that will go on sale from September 2018. To mark the retirement, Lexus is building a final special edition that it calls the Cherished Touring. The Lexus CT200h Cherished Touring edition is available in two exclusive color schemes. There is a Sonic Titanium roof and a Graphite Black body or a Sonic Titanium roof and Sonic Quartz white body. Regardless of the shade, the spindle grille, fog light surrounds, and rear bumper trim have a shiny, silver finish. The other extra amenities include electrically retracting, heated door mirrors and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Inside, the Cherished Touring edition has two-tone upholstery that makes the lower portion of the seats and door panels black and the upper parts dark red. There's matching red stitching on the door trim, instrument panel, knee pads, and steering wheel. The model comes standard with heating for the steering wheel and seats. Like every example of the CT200h, power comes from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that makes 98 horsepower (73 kilowatts) and 105 pound-feet (142 Newton-meters) of torque by itself. The electric motor contributes 80.5 hp (60 kW) and 153 lb-ft (207 Nm). Lexus' Japanese site for the CT200h doesn't list the total system output, but the specs suggest it's the same 134 hp (100 kW) from other markets The CT200h Cherished Touring edition retails for 4,223,000 yen after taxes in Japan ($36,580 at current exchange rates). The keyed ignition switch is nearly a thing of the past. Today, even base-model economy cars are showing up with keyless push-button start. But it wasn’t so long ago that even top-end cars had traditional metal keys. One of the most recent examples is the Lexus LFA, an otherworldly supercar built from cutting-edge carbon fiber-reinforced polymer and powered by one of the best sounding engines in the history of the automobile. And yet, to start that V-10 engine, you have to twist an ignition switch with utterly humble roots. Welcome to The Parts Department, where we follow basic car components to their strangest destinations. Toyota part No. 84450-12200 is a keyed ignition switch that was nearly ubiquitous in the automaker’s North American products starting in the mid-Nineties. It first appeared in the dashboards of cars like the Tercel and Paseo before spreading to the rest of the Toyota and Lexus lineups over the next decade and a half. At its peak, this ignition switch was used in almost every Toyota and Lexus made in the early 2000s, before slowly dropping off as push-button ignitions were introduced. Around 2010, it seemed like the switch was done for good in the Lexus lineup. The only Lexus left that used 84450-12200 was the aging SC 430, which was cancelled after the 2010 model year. But then our humble ignition switch reappeared in 2011, in the dashboard of Lexus’s new performance halo, the LFA. The screaming supercar’s key may have been adorned with milled metal and carbon fiber, but it operated the same tumbler found in the lowly Tercel. The LFA’s ignition key and tumbler were dressed up with carbon fiber, but underneath was the same old part. - LEXUS No. 84450-12200 had a much longer life in the Toyota lineup, appearing in the 4Runner up until this year (SmartKey push-button starting finally becomes standard equipment on the SUV for 2022). The ignition switch also appeared in the Scion iQ, TC and xB from 2005 to 2016, when the brand folded. Our friendly ignition switch retails for $114.53 from Toyota and Lexus dealers, but online OEM discount stores typically sell it for just under $80. Thanks to the fact that it’s shared across so many Toyota and Lexus models, the switch is a popular item in the aftermarket, with nearly a dozen companies offering their own versions to fit. The cheapest version, from Ultra-Power, costs less than $7. TOYOTA PARTS While the North American models that use this switch are all familiar names, overseas parts catalogs show that 84450-12200 was used in a wide array of Japanese and European-market vehicles. They range from quirky MPVs like the Toyota Picnic to utilitarian vehicles like the Townace. Built from 1985 to 2007, the cab-over-engine Townace, available as a van, pickup or cube truck, is about as far as you can get from the Lexus LFA supercar—which just goes to show that, even when Toyota was building an ultra-limited-production supercar with a mid-six-figure price tag, the company still relied on its extensive parts bin for reliable, mundane components. Toyota Townace Noah - TOYOTA Much like the manual transmission, traditional metal ignition keys are on their way out. The LFA may have been one of the last supercars with a conventional key-switch ignition. But coincidentally, Toyota was at the forefront of a recent revolution in ignition keys, as one of the first automakers to introduce laser-cut keys. This was one of many innovations that debuted on the 1990 Lexus LS 400, the car that launched the Lexus brand in North America. Toyota started slowly phasing out turn-key ignition in the United States in the mid-2000s. A push-button start switch appeared first on the 2004 Toyota Prius, then spread across the rest of the hybrid lineup. The feeling of being helpless when you are forced into a corner can be pretty unbearable. The Toyota driver (The person filming) went to deliver some goods and came back to a 'boxy' situation where he found his car boxed into a corner. A Lexus ES250 doubled parked and blocked the cam car, preventing him from driving off. The Toyota driver proceeded to call the number displayed on the Lexus' dashboard but to no avail. Moments later, the Lexus driver returned to his car, and this was where turmoil started to brew. The post also reveals an unveiling date of 9 June for the new model. However, Autocar has been told that the model won't be sold in either the European market or the UK. The IS has been offered here in its previous three generations, but sales have fallen in the face of the booming SUV market and newer range arrivals. Lexus shifted 3282 examples in 2019 - nearly half the number sold in 2016. A Lexus UK spokesperson said: "Roughly 80% of all Lexus models sold in Europe are SUVs and the larger ES is outselling the current IS at a rate of around two-to-one, so we made the decision not to introduce this new model to the UK market." Technical details for the new IS are thin on the ground. Without the tough European Union efficiency regulations to worry about, there may be less of a pressing need for plug-in hybrids or electric versions, so we expect it will make use of Lexus's tried-and-tested parallel hybrid powertrain in launch variants.

Better late than never, the third-generation Lexus LX is finally being retired after no fewer than 14 years on the market. It was well worth the wait as the all-new SUV brings improvements on all fronts, starting with a new platform that has shaved off a whopping 441 pounds (200 kilograms) of weight over its predecessor. If that rings a bell, it's because the new Toyota Land Cruiser, which won't be sold in the US, has lost the exact same amount of fat as a result of switching to the TNGA-F platform. The styling is how pretty much everyone assumed it would be, featuring a side profile denoting the LX is heavily related to its more mainstream Toyota equivalent. It's worth noting the Lexus has a slightly different quarter glass and rear pillar, but the rest of the silhouette is largely identical. A massive spindle grille at the front and a wide LED light bar at the rear represent the main changes on the outside compared to the LC, along with more generous use of chrome. It's inside the cabin where there are some major differences between the two as the revamped Mercedes GLS rival gets Lexus' first dual touchscreen setup. Measuring 12.3 inches, the upper screen shows navigation and audio controls, plus the off-road details of the Multi-Terrain Monitor system when you're going off the beaten path. The lower seven-inch screen provides quick access to the climate settings and can work as a support screen for the Multi-Terrain Select by showing camera feed on the upper screen and off-road data on the smaller display. For the first time since the LX's inception in 1995, the body-on-frame SUV gets an Ultra Luxury grade with a four-seat arrangement boasting independent rear seats that can recline at up to 48 degrees for greater comfort. The front passenger seat can also fold down at the push of a button for greater legroom of up to 43 inches (110 centimeters) and there's also a deployable foot rest coming from behind the front seat. The LX Ultra Luxury gets additional goodies, including overhead ceiling vents, reading lights, and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual screens as standard equipment. Lexus has fitted the upscale version with sunshades on the side and quarter windows, along with comfy seats featuring curved headrests and backrests as well as cushions. A center screen between the rear seats offers the level of functionality usually associated with high-end executive sedans. Another first for the LX is the F Sport trim, riding on unique 22-inch alloy wheels – the largest available for the luxobarge. It's more than just a visual package as Lexus also installs a Torsen limited-slip differential for better traction from the rear axle. The F Sport grade comes with bespoke tuning for the front and rear dampers, along with a rear stabilizer and different settings for the variable suspension and electric power steering. There are no surprises under the hood where the naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V8 engine is gone, replaced with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 shared with the Land Cruiser. It pumps out 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, thus bringing an improvement of 26 hp and 76 lb-ft over its predecessor. Output is channeled to the road through a ten-speed automatic transmission replacing the old eight-speed 'box. As with all three predecessors, the 2022 Lexus LX features "the golden ratio" of a 112-inch wheelbase, while the approach and departure angles have been carried over from the third-gen model. Useful off-road features include crawl and downhill assist control, not to mention an active height control with more positions than before. Lexus will have the fourth-generation LX at dealers in the United States during the first quarter of 2022.

A truck driver was spotted forcing open the carpark gantry arm for a Malaysian-registered Lexus in an open-air carpark along Hougang St 61 on 1st June, at around 11:26 p.m. The video also showed screenshots of the truck driver having outstanding fines while the Lexus driver did not seem to have a valid Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) or any outstanding VEP fines. Netizens' reactions Several netizens quickly commented on the possibility of the Lexus driver having to push the arm due to the fact that it might not have an in-vehicle unit (IU) as it was a Malaysian vehicle. While the intentions behind forcing the gantry arm open were unclear, it is absolutely dangerous to do so without instruction from the appropriate authorities. Nevertheless, it isn't right to damage public property for the sake of skimping on a few dollars for parking!

The Lexus IS may have been around for the longest time, but it also has been continuously massaged with improvements that ensure it continues to be an appealing proposition against its popular German rivals. This latest facelift sees the car getting not only an extensive exterior redesign, but also numerous body strengthening and a suspension overhaul! I saw the new IS300 in white during the sneak peek at Borneo. Looks really good in the flesh. Now waiting to see the IS350 F-Sport in real life. Had a very short test drive in the non-FSport IS300, with the standard shock absorbers(not adaptive variable). The way it handles speed bumps is astoundingly good, better than my AVS equipped GS450h. Also the way Lexus tuned the 2L turbo, I did not experience any turbo lag unlike the S60 T5 I also test drove. One thing I am unhappy with my Lexus salesperson is that he did not allow me to drive 99 curves to better assess the handling and steering of the facelift 2021 Lexus IS. For that reason alone, if I do buy the new 2021 IS, I won't be buying through him.

I just recenlty got a COE lexus IS250. a, mot sure what fuel grade to pump so i just pump 98 to be safe, as i read on some manual that the min RON is 96. am i wasting money by pumping 98 ?

Is your S.O. always complaining about length? Well then this might be just the thing that she (or he?) is looking for. Lexus has extended (literally!) their popular RX model range to now include a three-row version, apparently because showroom visitors in the U.S.A have been asking for a seven-seater of their favorite SUV. Lexus inform us that numerous improvements have been made to this facelifted model of the RX350L in order to sharpen up its handling, including the use of new Laser Screw Welding and high-strength adhesives for the body, and new dampers equipped with a Friction Control Device to keep said body in check. And from the driver's seat, the car feels those improvements. Despite being such a large car, the whole thing steers accurately and is very easy to place on the road, after a little acclimatisation of course. Which is all well and good, but let's get real. Nobody is going to buy this Lexus with the expectation of razor-sharp handling through the roads of Kent Ridge. So let's talk about how this car performs where it was truly designed to excel: On the highway. I would typically be the first to join the anti-SUV bandwagon but gosh, is this thing a revelation. Yes, you do get some float when you hit some low-frequency undulations at just the right speed, but I'll excuse the car's weight and necessarily soft damping. Everywhere else, the car rides over bumps with absolute aplomb. Ignore any camber changes and bumps on the road, you simply keep the steering wheel in the direction of intended travel and plough along, just as a proper limousine ought to. Mind you, this thing was riding on 20-inch rims as tested. But a quality ride does not alone make a good cruiser, and the RX350L also comes in hitting with supreme insulation. You genuinely will not be able to tell the quality of the tarmac as you ride along in the RX350L, either with your ears of through the steering wheel. With the three days I had the car I frequently found myself anticipating the hour in which I would be able to leave my desk just so that I can fall into the supple leather seats, shut the doors, and then just laze in the cabin's supreme quietness. It genuinely is that good. Combine this with the fact that the car comes with ventilated seats and an air-conditioning system that works very well, and I think you will not doubt when I say the car could rival many bedrooms for comfort levels. Which is a good thing then, because you do not want to have too many kids to ferry around in this thing. Third-row passengers are genuinely woefully catered for space-wise, although the forward two rows will get more than a generous share of the car's length. But hey, space for all that suspension travel and the rear double wishbones has to come from somewhere right? Fold the third-row down however, and you get a whopping 652 litres of boot space, so think of this as a covered luxury truck and you should be fine. And the one flaw with the car? Well, the 12 speaker system needs a bit of work. I'm no sound engineer for sure, but the car's speakers manage to combine that tinny effect you get from cheap earphones with the muddy sound you get from a bass-boosted headphone. It ain't terrible to listen to, but it sure as hell stands out when everywhere else you see and touch (and even the places you don't, read the full review) is so well put together. But if you can get over something like that and need a large SUV to ferry your kids along on your frequent Ikea runs, rest assured that this thing have the necessary length to satisfy anyone. According to sales executives who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Inchcape company is proposing to cut commissions by $100 to $350 per car. At the same time, it is looking to raise sales targets. "Easily, our monthly income will fall by $2,000," said one salesman, noting that sales staff's income averaged between $6,000 and $8,000 a month. Another said the cut was supposed to have been taken effect last month, but "it did not". The Straits Times understands this is because of the union, which has asked the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to intervene. An MOM spokesman said the ministry has "received a request from the Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers' Union to conciliate a dispute involving its sales consultant members and Borneo Motors (Singapore) Pte Ltd over a proposed cut in commission and an increase in sales quota". "The conciliation process is ongoing," the spokesman added. "Both union and Borneo Motors' management are engaging actively in the conciliation process. Progress has been made on some issues but more work needs to be done on remaining issues where parties' positions differ." Borneo Motors' managing director Jasmmine Wong said: "We are in the midst of discussions which we have every two years. We have up to the end of the year to reach a conclusion. Nothing has been decided." Ms Wong - part of a new management team which replaced several veterans laid off two years ago - pointed out that the sales staff wanted "higher commissions and lower targets". She said this was not feasible in a market which is expected to shrink over the next two years on account of smaller certificate of entitlement quotas. On Monday (May 6), Nissan agent Tan Chong Motor decided to close its Bukit Timah showroom because of a shrinking number of walk-in customers. "My priority is to keep jobs," Ms Wong said. She added that the company had also put in a system which generates leads for its sales staff, as well as a car delivery division to relieve sales staff from non-sales duties. But a sales veteran said: "If the company is losing money, then we understand. But that is not the situation, and in any case, it is unfair to target sales staff alone." Borneo remains one of UK-listed Inchcape's top profit generators. Last year, it attained Toyota's Triple Crown award for industry-leading sales in passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle and taxi sales. Hi all, I seldom post a lot and am currently looking to change my ride. I'd like to seek opinions from bros and automotive aficionados here on the above mentioned 3 models of SUV. I know all 3 are rather different in terms of branding or engine power or even comfort levels, but due to my limited knowledge on the available SUVs in this price range 300k+/-, these are the 3 that I can think of. I'm torn between these 3 for my next purchase and would like to find out more the pros and cons of the above 3. Am currently driving an Audi so thinking of changing to something fresh too. Would like to seek some opinions and reviews from bros here especially those who own the above 3 makes to share a little more into it. And also to find out which would be a better buy.
