  2. Will you or your GF/wifey spend 136k to look like that? Well if you have the cash.... Just glad mine won't [sweatdrop] From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...operations.html Posted on 09 Feb 2012 S'pore woman undergoes 10 operations to look like anime character Singapore based fashion designer Jacqueline Koh, 29, has spent $136,000 over the past several years on 10 operations to have her face transformed into that of an anime character.
  3. I see from the other thread (cheap racer wannabes) that many look down on cars that are lousier than your own? I admit i do too...especially when a lousier car pulls up beside me at a traffic light. And i see a young punk with tattoo, long golden fringe and smoking inside. What makes it worse if he has the guai lan ah-beng good for looking face. I will smoke them (swift, kia koup, mini, civic) when i was driving my 330ci in the past.
  4. My car is the silver Mit. This BMW driver(old uncle) simply has no regards to others with the way he parked. Waited for him to come back. When I try to tell him not to be inconsiderate, he gave me the "tulan" face, no "hue" and drove off! So no use talking....must.... What wld you do??

  8. Ok folks, read about this post from Toyota Club SG Forum. Not a complaint really but based on what was described in the post and subsequents that seems to confirm this chap's uncouth driving style and ethics, I do hope you guys can keep a look out for him. As far as we know, he could be living in the vicinity of EdgeField Plains. I know drivers like this chap is aplenty but such an attitude is incredible. So folks, if you happend to see him on the streets, avoid him at all costs... Mods, I didnt post the licence plate number. It appeared by itself. Exerpts from TCS forum... This is just a shout-out to all the good folks out there to be vigilant against a certain black-hearted Toyota Picnic driver. On 18th Nov last sunday at around 730pm, i was returning with my wife from Malaysia JB back to Singapore. i was driving my black Altis and have passed the Caltex petrol staion and heading towards the innermost customs booth which were the furthest in. I stopped right next to the pillar to await my turn to join the car quene right in front of me as it was slightly narrow for my car to go through. We were just 20m away from the customs booth and there was a car's length between my car and the car before me. A vehicle (white Toyota Picnic) bearing the plate number SBL32X on my right suddenly cut into my lane as he wanted to take my lane as it was shorter. My wife and me felt the car shaking as the Picnic grazed onto my right corner of my bumper. During that point in time my car was stationary and I had no time to react like reversing or such. From that moment on it looks like he was attempting to just drive off without stopping so i quickly alighted and knocked on his passenger door side(i was nearer that door) to ask him to alight to talk about the accident. The driver, a male Chinese in his late 30s(wearing specs and short hair cut) then got out of his vehicle. His wife or girlfriend who was sitting at the passenger side subsequently also got out. After arguing and inspecting the damage to my car, he agreed that he was at fault and offered to pay compensation to me. He asked me to drive the car a little forward on the pretext that his camera phone cannot take the picture of my car damages at my original location as it was very dark. I obliged. During that time i proceeded to take a picture of his car plate number as well. (attached). We exchanged contacts by writing our names on pieces of paper with our hp numbers as well. I said i would prefer to do my repairs at Borneo motors as they offer the same color paint. We then arranged to meet up at Borneo Motors Leng Kee on 20th Nov at 1400hrs so that we can get a quotation for the damages. After which we went our seperate ways. I wish to state prior to today, I tried calling the driver's handphone numerous times and send a few smses, however the number was finally answered by a lady (I'm not sure of the race but sounds like an indian lady) who did not spoke proper english telling me that i got the wrong number! I waited at Borneo Motors for well over 45 mins in the hope that he's not a swindle and still have integrity to show up for the fixed appointment. I was wrong. He didn't show up at all, nor made any calls. After that, i made a police report at Alexandra Neighbourhood Police Post. I know there's probably nothing more i can do at this juncture other than paying to fix the damages myself, but i would like to alert all the drivers in Singapore to be on the lookout for this guy who really has proven himself to be a man without intergrity and honour. I wasted some sleepless nights and half a day's leave for nothing. On hindsight i was told by my friends that i should have either gotten a written agreement that he will pay for the damages and his NRIC number, or demanded compensation on the spot. Thanks for your time in reading this. It really felt better just by writing this down my frustration at those kayu drivers can just can't stand up to their mistakes on the road. Pls help to circulate this to your friends so that we can be vigilant against this irresponsible driver. If ever you have the "good fortune" to know the driver as well (he maybe in this forum who knows), pls remind him that what comes around, will go around. This was posted recently on stomp by the victim rather reluctantly and lo and behold, some stomper posted this reply: taffy2775 said on 26 Nov, 2007 Haiya. This Idiot! My family member got bad experience with him at my Punggol Edgefield Plains carpark. Dammit! He die2 wanted to enter carpark by the CARPARK EXIT while at the same time I was about to exit.He refused to budge despite several honking. When he finally moved, he stared at my driver as if we committed a big crime. Until now, if we see the car, we call it the Idiot''s Car. Curse him! What goes around, comes around. I wonder if this chap has kids. If he does, then I wonder what kind of things will the kids learn from daddy. Simply cannot understand why some people cannot be considerate, gracious and giving on the road. Their attitudes on the road probably show a lot about their character

  10. Dear car owner, Just wanna share something my friend told me. Dunno is true or not. Maybe you guys can share and advise more info ???? Did you guys realise that there are those claim original oil filter in the market??? Recently there are ppl post fake Toyota ATF in this forum. So hopefully more ppl will be aware. Quite strange. 100% Genuine Toyota Oil filter is made in Thailand and those claim to be original Genuine is from Japan. Point to check. 1) you can see some lubricate on the oil ring (ususally is black with white spot on it). 2) smell the hole in the centre, you will smell some lubricate smell. It may just cost you $2 to $3 more for the 100% Geniune Toyota Oil Filter. Dunno this apply to other brand as well

  12. I'm not sure if any if you follow LTAsg twitter feeds. I'm amused by the number of accidents occurring during peak hours. Why can't Singaporeans drive properly? I just got a quote for 3rd party cover... no fire & theft... price before NCD $1,800. I'm 29 this year. This is bloody ridiculous. But I can link up why... look at the rate of accidents! I've started a Facebook page... please share and create awareness on the rate of accidents daily. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Courteous-Dr...309970765684932 I hope everybody become courteous drivers like what I've experienced in other countries (Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand). It will be so much easier to drive... and I'm sure it will reduce the rate of accidents. Ever since I returned from overseas I've toned down a LOT in my driving. Now I leave a safe following distance, give way to whatever (people, car) and use my horn less. I find myself having a smoother ride as a result.
  13. I think it has to be the VW Sirocco. What do you think. The front is fierce, the back looks great and wide. Very nice. Only downside? Its cramp (expected for a small hatch) and its FF, rather than 4WD.
  14. When driving /riding along the expressway, pls look out for drunk jay walkers trying to cross the road. ========= Drunk jaywalker jailed for causing fatal 5-vehicle crash 06 Sep 2011; SOURCE: The Straits Times A DRUNK jaywalker who caused a fatal five-vehicle collision on an expressway was jailed for four weeks yesterday. Jeffrey Ching Fook Soon, 30, pleaded guilty to the negligent act of crossing a section of the Pan-Island Expressway without keeping a proper lookout on the evening of March 15, 2009. Ching, who was an operations support manager then, walked away from the accident with bruises and abrasions. But his reckless act resulted in the death of a motorcyclist, who was thrown off his vehicle and run over by a lorry. The traffic accident involved two cars, a taxi, a lorry and a motorcycle. A traffic court heard that aircraft service engineer Tan Ching Beng, 47, was driving his car behind one driven by Associate Professor Arthur Tay Ee Beng, 41, along the centre of the three-lane expressway when they saw a blue taxi either slowing down or stopping along the left lane. They then noticed Ching walking unsteadily across the left lane in front of the taxi. Suddenly, he turned and walked back towards the left. Prof Tay, who thought the man had decided not to cross the road, proceeded to drive ahead at a reduced speed. But Ching suddenly turned back again. Prof Tay immediately applied his brakes but his car hit Ching, who rolled up the bonnet, hit the front windscreen before rolling down and landing on the expressway. Mr Tan also braked and swerved left, causing security officer Rajoo Subramaniam Naidu
  15. Illegal parkers beware. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is launching a trial of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera system to deal with illegal parking problems along roads. In a tender called last week to contractors to run a six-month trial, LTA hopes the system improves its detection of such offences. Two public roads have been targeted for trial, but it is unclear where these sites are. The sites, however, will be 150m long and two lanes wide each, reported The Straits Times. The CCTV cameras will capture the licence plate details of vehicles parked in prohibited zones round the clock, and under all weather and lighting conditions. The contractor who wins the tender will then produce the evidence of drivers breaking the law. The quality of images and videos will be reviewed by LTA during the trial, which will determine the viability of using it as evidence in court. The offences include parking along roads with parallel continuous white lines, a single continuous yellow line, double continuous yellow lines, a single zig-zag yellow line and double zig-zag yellow lines. This is believed to be the first time LTA is trying this method to curb illegal parking. Motorists chalked up about 22,000 summons a month on such offences, which is about the same as the monthly average issued by the traffic police from 2007 till November last year, when LTA took over this duty. A spokesperson said that that LTA
  16. Was this love made in our forum? http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._car_forum.html Weilin was going through a stressful period in her life and did not plan to fall in love with anyone, much less someone she got to know on the net, until she met Jerry on a car forum. She said: "I think that getting to know friends from chat rooms or social networking sites are common but I got to know this great boyfriend of mine through a forum. Whats' more, it is a car forum! "I never had the habit of meeting up with strangers whom I get to know through the internet. "Two yrs ago, when I was feeling so stressed with work, studies, colleagues and health, I happened to buy my new car, and I joined this particular forum. "Some time after I joined the forum, it was time for me to collect my car. "As I am a girl and not very familiar with what to check and take note, two of the guys from the forum offered to go with me and help me with the checks. "One of them, was my Jerry, my boyfriend. "After the collection, I thought our paths wouldn't cross anymore other than through the forum chatting. "One day, he asked me for my msn and we chatted every night through msn. I will pour out my woes and troubles, he will be the 'counsellor'. "After months of chatting, we went out a few times as a group with the other fellow forum members. It was then I realised, he was interested in me. "One of his friends then encouraged me to give him a chance and give myself a chance as I was badly hurt after the previous relationship. "On Feb 14 2009, he finally plucked up the courage to ask me out and popped the question. It took me two weeks to persuade myself to accept a new relationship. "After all these years, I think I did not make the wrong choice. "He is a very patient, kind, loving, detail and fun guy to be with! "He never fails not to send me home every time we go out, cheer me up when I am down, takes care of me when I am sick, even cares for my pet even more than I care for it! "He never blames me for not setting aside time for him, or rather, he will try to fit in to my schedule. "He doesn't grumble when he needs to wait for me to doll up, when I oversleep or when I have impromptu over time at work. "We do quarrel like any couples do, but he never fails to give in to me too! "A very big thank you for making such a big difference in my life! "Although I don

  20. As thick as .... millionaires in Spore 2 June 2011 Straits Times SINGAPORE has once again emerged as the country with the highest concentration of millionaires in the world. A total of 15.5 per cent of households here hold more than US$1 million (S$1.23 million) - defined as those with investable assets of over US$1 million, exclusive of owner-occupied property and items like art. Last year, the proportion was 11.4 per cent. Millionaires here are much thicker on the ground here than in second-placed Switzerland, where 9.9 per cent belongs to the club. Qatar was in the No. 3 spot with 8.9 per cent followed by Hong Kong with 8.7 per cent, said a new report by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). In terms of absolute numbers, the number of millionaire households here grew by almost 33 per cent to 170,000 last year, after jumping 35 per cent a year earlier, placing Singapore ahead of China (31 per cent), Indonesia (26 per cent) and Thailand (25 per cent). Only Australia minted millionaire households at a faster rate - 36 per cent. The United States had the most millionaire households at 5.2 million, followed by Japan, China, Britain, and Germany. Economists and wealth managers cite a number of factors as to why Singapore is experiencing enormous growth in the number of millionaire households. 'Singaporeans saw their wealth surge because of the stronger Singapore dollar, sharp economic rebound and soaring asset prices, including property,' said Bank of America Merrill Lynch economist Chua Hak Bin. 'Openness to foreign talent and wealthy 'new' Singaporeans probably also expanded the number of millionaires.' UBS Wealth Management Research chief investment strategist Kelvin Tay said: 'The starting point for the burgeoning number of millionaire households here lies in the strong fundamentals of these households during the credit crisis.' 'As much as 70 per cent of household assets were sitting in cash. Therefore, not only did these households emerge relatively unscathed from the crisis, they were also well placed to capitalise on the opportunities in both the stock and property markets when real interest rates plunged into deeply negative territory.' A case in point is 65-year-old Felix Ong, former chairman of electronics component firm Seksun, which sold all its assets and business undertakings for $295.1 million to Supernova (Cayman) in 2008. Mr Ong collected a substantial eight-figure sum from the sale, but told The Straits Times his wealth increased further after the stocks, bonds and several properties which he bought during the downturn rose sharply in value. The BCG study showed the wealthy are starting to move more money back into stocks, with 35 per cent of total assets of US$121.8 trillion now parked in equities, up from 33 per cent last year but still four percentage points lower than 2007. The study also highlighted that about 1 per cent of households have 39 per cent of the world's wealth, pointing to increased inequalities after the crisis. 'Income inequality is widening in Singapore,' said United Overseas Bank senior economist Alvin Liew. 'A lot more higher value jobs are created here and if you are in these jobs, you'll be expecting higher wages. On the other side of the spectrum, wage levels of lower-skilled workers have not moved up as fast.' Private bankers say BCG's findings suggest that banks here which cater to the well-heeled are in the right place given Asia's rapid wealth creation. 'While Asian wealth is generated in the recent years, Asian high-net-worth individuals are more conservative in the way they invest,' said Mr Renato de Guzman, chief executive of Bank of Singapore. 'They traditionally like to invest in deposits, equities and property. Increasingly, Asian high-net-worth investors are getting more sophisticated and are diversifying away from US dollars and more into Asian currencies such as Singapore dollars, Korean won and other emerging markets currencies such as the Chinese yuan and Indonesian rupiah.'
