    Mini countryman

any kind soul knows when mini SG will launch the countryman model?
  3. Spotted a Mini Cooper in Punggol with no car plate behind. Camo pattern paint with super dark windows. Anyone seen before?
  4. Mini says that it has stepped out of the ‘retro’ design philosophy and is embarking on a new era of design that will see the brand progress with a new distinct flavour that still maintains the core DNA of the brand’s iconic styling. Speaking to the Australian media at the Frankfurt motor show last week, the senior vice president of Mini, Sebastian Mackensen, said that with the appointment of a new head of design, the company is embarking on a new design challenge, one which remains critical to the brand as the styling of its vehicles are hugely important to its customer base. “The design is of utmost importance because Mini is a lifestyle brand,” Mackensen said. “I don’t like that word too much… but in the meaning of that word it is a lifestyle brand you don’t buy transportation, if you purchase a Mini if you want to drive from A to B, you can buy many different vehicles if you want to do that for smaller cost… so if you drive a Mini you buy emotion and driving fun and you also buy a certain statement and belonging to a brand, and part of that brand statement is not just the heritage and history of the brand but clearly as well the design.” According to Mackensen, changes coming to the brand will be noticeable however even a six-year-old child should be able to tell what is a new Mini from having been able to identify the current and older vehicles. “If he wouldn’t see a Mini driving around a corner and wouldn’t say a Mini, we would’ve made a mistake in the design but that doesn’t mean a Mini needs to look the same for 20 years in a row, that’s a fine line and I think we need to progress, every brand every design needs to progress but you need to have certain anchor points and staples that you shouldn’t play with.” As of this month, Mini has appointed Oliver Heilmer as its new head of design, having taken over from the previous boss Anders Warming who set off to design for the reborn Borgward marque. Meanwhile, any plans of Mini creating a larger model in the future appear to have been shelved, with the brand focusing on its core models and even further reducing its model range going forward. “We have no plans to stretch that further right now… We have reduced actually the complexity of the portfolio in recent years, because the Mini Paceman, the Roadster and the Coupe didn’t get successor models and we are happy with that decision because it’s the niche of the niche.” Mackensen admitted that whilst markets such as Australia may be able to absorb large Mini models, it’s still not on the brand’s agenda. “When we go into size, you might be able to absorb a bigger Mini but we have no plan to do a bigger mini beyond a Countryman.” Changes to the Mini design philosophy under Heilmer will become more apparent and visible with upcoming concept vehicles and future models.

  7. So this sort of incident is usually too minor to post, but I thought the behavior of this young lady in brown Mini SKP3090E needed to be called out. This was a two way road, with the way ahead blocked by a large tour bus. I saw another tour bus coming on in the opposite direction, and moved to the side, right signal on, to let it pass. The lady in the brown Mini, with zero situational awareness, decided to inch its way out oblivious to her blind side, despite my repeated waves to warn her. Then, on her way past, she decided to flip me her middle finger. https://vimeo.com/220196504
  8. Hi All, Please share with me if you guys have any good workshop to recommend, i'm driving a nine years old cooper S
  9. With latest statistics in Europe showing that sales of SUV is beginning to overtake hatchback, it is do not come as a surprise that many auto manufacturer are making their new model to ride higher, label them as Crossover, and there after markup the selling price, taking full advantage of the latest trend in the motoring world. Actually the "pioneer" in mini SUV is not any conti car maker, but Japanese. How many here still remember there was once a a 659cc 20V turbo charged sample, with max. horsepower of 64ps, max torque of 97Nm, and a top speed rated at 130Km/h (in stock condition)? Yes, I am referring to Mitsubishi Pajero Mini. A fun car, but not necessary a fuel efficient one as one might have expected from a Kei car.
  10. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...106&DL=1086 Looking to get a spare car for zipping around during the weekends. This model looks cool with good price till I saw the total owners=6! Anyone knows the history of this car and if upkeep will be an issue for mini? TIA!
  11. Amazing Asian! My next question how long will it take for him to get out of that lot? Haha
  12. If that Clubman concept caught your eye, it's reality now. * Pictures with acknowledgement to paultan.org Hope it makes it to our shores soon!
  13. What do you all think? Do you all agree the MCS is the most powerful 1.6L road car ever produced (don't talk about others with mods or racing of course)
  14. Anyone know where to get supercharger oil in Singapore ? Its for a friend's Mini Cooper S. Seems real hard to find locally. I ordered some from Amazon but shipment is late and it is needed urgently as the supercharger is off the car and re-assembly can't start. Any help appreciated. Thanks !
  15. There was a time when car-based panel vans were all over Singapore. I remember Corollas and Datsuns making the bulk of them. Some time in the late 1990s they disappeared altogether. However, they did not actually go out of production. Some models are still available in Japan and Europe, and even Mini has a panel van. Anyone knows what happened? Was it because of certain regulations, or they just somehow went out of favour? A KE70 Corolla panel van, used to be a common sight in Singapore. A MINI panel van, recent generation. Vauxhall Astra panel van, from 2006.
  16. Desperately trying to find this mini claw arcade machine. Online site prices seems a bit steep. Anybody seen this around any shops here?

  18. i want one! the engine diagnostics display on smartphone is especially cool. no more guessing at why the CEL is lighting up and potentially getting smoked by workshops to change this and that part. it's a shame that it only works for US cars at the moment. https://www.automatic.com
  19. Having sampled the excellent F56 Cooper S when we went up to KL to interview the talented men that created the cool MINI Cooper S video, I was looking forward to drive the lesser Cooper. Lesser? Maybe not. While it may have 56 less horses and one cylinder less, it is by no means slow or boring. The car also takes 7.8 seconds to hit the century mark, which is 1.1 seconds faster than its distant sibling in the family, the BMW 116i hatcback. Putting the car into SPORT mode makes it even more alert. Go-kart feel? Definitely feels like it, with its compact dimensions and well-sorted handling. I especially like the way the rear tries to assist in turning and its agility. And then when you try to poke deeper into its menus, you can see sweet little details that make the driver smile. Like, instead of naming it 'Sport Displays', MINI calls it 'Driving Excitement'. Which will then show how much power and torque you are trying to put to the wheels. For the eagle-eyed, this photo is from a Cooper S ;) Another nice touch is this bright red start-stop toggle. Elsewhere in the cabin, you will find useful spaces which would prove useful in storing stuff on your B-road blasts across the Causeway. While the pure MINI fans may disagree, moving the window controls to where they should be is one of the best improvement for the F56 MINI in my opinion. So is the Cooper lesser than a Cooper S? Not at all! I barely miss the extra poke and it might actually ride better than its more well-endowed brother while being just as fun to pilot. Like they say, less might indeed be more. Read the full review of the MINI Cooper here.
  20. I recently came across the Project Binky build vids on youtube and the fabrication skill going into the build is amazing. The premise is the geniuses at Bad Obsession Motorsport are stuffing a full Celica GT-4 (ST185) drivetrain/suspension into a 1980 Austin Mini, and a rotted out old Mini at that. This probably won't appeal to everyone, but I'm sure some of you can appreciate the details that are going into the build. I found myself going PHWOARRRRR at some sections. Part 1 is posted up, you can check out the subsequent episodes on yourtubes. Long live Project Binky.
  21. The creative minds at MINI are at work again. This time round, they created a pickup-like off-roader based on the Cooper S Paceman ALL4. Dubbed the Paceman Adventure, the unique variant is the result of a creative collaboration between young apprentices and their instructors at the BMW plant in Munich and Dingolfing. And while the idea of an off-roader is nothing new, the result is pretty spectacular if you ask us. The Adventure looks at home off the beaten tracks. The two-seater pickup also seems to make light work fording in swampy terrain, no thanks to 184 horses sent to all wheels via the marque's ALL4 drive technology. It is unlikely that the cargo area will do some serious loot tugging. But otherwise, the Adventure comes equipped with proper stuffs to keep it going in the wild, such as a modified chassis with extended ground clearance and much higher front and rear clearance ramps. The snorkel-like air intake also suggests that it will rise up to the occasion should you encounter any river crossing. Much to our disappointment, however, there are no plans for the Adventure to go for series production.
  22. Seemingly driven by someone of a foreign nationality. The video speaks for itself. http://youtu.be/8zzvShtFsPM
  23. http://dai.ly/x1i70ci We have seen car stunts gone wrong, but few are as lucky as Guerlain Chicherit. The French rally driver was practicing for a World Record jump at the ski resort of Tignes in France when he fell short and suffered a massive crash, Chicherit was attempting a 360-foot (109.7 metres) jump to break the current record of 332-foot (101.2 metres) in his specially prepared MINI. He survived the crash and was taken to the hospital.
  24. Any bros here wanna fly on Skymark together? ---------------------------------------- Skymark Airlines Inc. introduced a new uniform for cabin attendants on its new flight, which has drawn flak among workers and netizens for its short length. According to a report on Japan Times, the budget carrier announced last December that it would fly 10 Airbus A330-300s for the first time starting this spring. To promote the new flights, the company also unveiled a new miniskirt uniform for attendants who will be working on the plane. However, the Japan Federation of Cabin Attendants, which is part of the Japan Federation of Aviation Worker’s Union, have criticised the uniform. Not only did they call the uniform inappropriate for employees -- who have to stretch high up and kneel down in their line of work -- they also said it would disturb operations and induce sexual harassment. “Moreover, (Skymark) is treating women as products, as it is advertising that this uniform will attract customers. We have to doubt the morality of the company,” the federation said in a statement released on its blog. However, a spokesperson from Skymark have rebutted these claims and said that firm has not directly received complaints from the federation. Safety of the plane will also not be affected, he added. Employees serving on the A330 will don the uniform during the six-month campaign period starting on May 31, after which they will revert back to the old uniform. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/this-urban-jungle/japan-airline-unveils-new-miniskirt-uniform-but-attendants-criticise-it-as
