  3. Anyone knows where to get Octy's service manual as to what to check/change for different intervals of mileage? As I bought mine on resale, only car manual available but not service manual. As I've reached 50k, just wanted to have some information on this service interval. Heard from Servo previously that auto-transmission oil only changed at 60k? I have mine changed at 30k though
  4. Hey guys ...... is this possible ?? sorry guys, just saw another similar thread. pls ignore
  5. From BT: Manual Focus bucks auto trend By SAMUEL EE FORD distributor Regent Motors has done what some motor traders in Singapore won't - it has imported a model with a manual gearbox after strong customer demand. Starting this weekend, Regent will market a 1.6-litre Ford Focus five-door hatchback with manual transmission. Sales manager Paul Ng expects the car to account for 20 per cent of all Focus sales here, which include 1.6-litre hatchback and sedan versions with automatic transmission. Last year, Regent sold almost 900 Focus units out of a total of about 1,500 Ford cars, or 60 per cent. 'Our customers were requesting a manual Focus hatchback up to a year ago,' said Mr Ng. 'They said the Focus hatchback is very sporty, so a stick shift is more suited.' He said that although the Focus has many variants - for example, three-door and souped-up models - these aren't available to Regent because Singapore is a relatively small market. As a result, it took a while for the factory to fulfill the request for the manual five-door Focus. An estimated 80 to 85 per cent of all passenger cars sold here have automatic transmission. Some observers say up to 90 per cent of models sold locally by mainstream brands are autos. 'If you're selling a bread and-butter car and going for volume, then a manual version could be a logistics nightmare,' said a source. As a result, some distributors of popular Japanese makes don't even offer a manual alternative for certain models. The Toyota Corolla Altis and Mazda3, for example, only come with auto transmission. A motor trader said those who buy cars with a manual box are usually not 'regular folks who would buy a sedan'. 'They like to dress up their cars and they like to talk about driving pleasure,' he said. 'Some of them clamour for a manual version when there isn't one. But when we do bring it in eventually, then suddenly they're not interested any more.'
  6. for a normal manual transmission car with normal driving habits, how often does the clutch needs to be changed, and how much does it cost to change it each time? If it amounts to several thousands over 10 years, then isn't it better to get auto since u only need to change auto trans fluid?

  20. Hi, i'm debating between the manual and auto version of the Corolla LX. I've heard of some pros and cons which i need clarification. I'm actually more interested in the manual version but am afraid that it is much noisier than the auto version due to less insulation. Hope the owners can help out.... Pros of manual: Cheaper maintenance esp with spares Better fuel economy Slightly better pickup Cons of manual: Noisier? How much? Is it due to lack of insulation or becos the driver is lousy..... Not so convenient esp on slopes and traffic jams..... Thanks for the input.
  21. Does anyone has contact that can get me a copy of the Nissan 300ZX service manual/repair guide CD ROM or book? I'm willing to pay for cost and for your effort in finding it.. Can't find any third party service manual out there for this car... The only I've found is Nissan dealer's original repair guide software that costs more than 140 SGD... Not worth it.. General repair guide for honda accords, etc are all about 20 SGD only..
  22. Hi fellow VAG-platform owners, especially the Octy's, if there are any here, Posted a similar query on the Seat forum and was quite amused with the replies so far that I thought I'd post it for you folks too. And it's regarding the manual gearbox - when shifting into 1st, I occasionally get a 'thud' as the gear goes in tho' most other times, it's a 'thud-thud'. The former caught me off-guard twice where I thought I'd engaged 1st but when I released the clutch, the shifter simply popped back to neutral. Not very funny when going up a slope or at a traffic light in rush hour. Any of you get such a thing too, or is this something Tody-specific ? Then again, I believe both the Octy and Tody share the same gearbox, don't they ?
  23. I believe some of you in here owns the Oct 1.8T (Manual). The SE at JTA tells me it is S$21,500 but I doubt it is so high. If convenient, can you tell me what is the OMV of your car and when you register it? Thanks!
