  1. I was driving along the PIE in Lane 1(fast lane) Sat morning at about 1 am when I hit that spot just after Eng Neo where there's a speed camera. Knowing that there's a speed camera coming up, I kept my speed between 80 to 90kmh in anticipation of the camera. A Merc cab starts tailgating me from behind and starts flashing his lights trying to force me to speed up. Perhaps it was late and I didn't like being harassed like that. So I allowed him to speed past me. I admit what I did next aggravated the whole situation. I turned on my highbeam and left it on. What he did next in return was the most psychotic thing I've ever seen on the road. He slammed on his brakes till we nearly stopped on Lane 1 of the expressway. I had to brake so hard I think my ABS came on and I really thought I was going to hit him because by the time I slowed enough, I was just inches from his bumper. If you thought I was tailgating him, I wasn't. He literally just slammed on his brakes. I was literally shaking after the incident cause I never expected anyone in his right frame of mind to do something like that on the expressway while traveling at 90kmh. I'm angry with myself that I couldn't remember his license plate number other than that it starts with SHB cause I was quite tired that night. But I'm not sure what could've been done even if I did take down his LP number. Can or will the taxi company deal with him severely? I think the biggest lesson I learnt from this incident is that there're many psychotic drivers on the road who have no respect for human life. I admit that I aggravated the incident but for someone to do something like that is insane. I guess my lesson is that it's better to leave this psychos to drive whatever way they like and just have a safe journey ourselves. Pple...I would appreciate it if you kept unkind comments about my driving to yourselves. I found this incident very disturbing and just wanted to share it for others to learn from my mistake.
  2. Any ideas where can I get those rims? Which workplace is highly recommended?
  3. New car news 22 March 2010 - 14:00 Coming soon: 661bhp Merc Vito AMG This is the Mercedes-Benz Vito AMG, a 661bhp, twin-turbo V12 van with... ...OK, as you've probably already guessed, it's fictional. We made it up, bodged it together with Photoshop and glue. But with good reason: Volker Mornhinweg will take charge of Mercedes' van division in April. This might sound suspiciously like Dull Corporate Suit News, but hangonatick. Mornhinweg is currently in charge of AMG, Merc's performance department responsible for such loony creations as the E63, SLS and the deranged Black Series. Mornhinweg is credited with turning AMG into the potent force it is today, a division with a steely focus on power and performance and presence and other mighty things beginning with 'P'. All of which raises the question: what's he going to do to Merc's vans? Surely it will be fast and lightly dangerous? Surely our V12 Vito AMG must be near the top of the 'to do' pile? There could even be a one-make race series, every van loaded to the brim with furniture and vases and smut. We shall call it the Vitoversteer Championship. But we reckon you can do better. Using that commenting device below, let us know your ideal Merc performance van, sparing no detail. If you're handy with the Photoshopping, feel free to mock up your own AMG van and send it to [email protected]. We might even publish the results with amusingly derogatory captions at some point in the future. Do your worst. Sam Philip http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/merc-vito-amg-2010-02-22

  5. Mercedes-Benz is completing the E-Class family with the introduction of a convertible model that will replace the outgoing CLK drop top. It will compete head on with the BMW 3-Series and Audi A5 cabriolets. Unique to the 2010 E-Class Convertible is a retractable wind spoiler located on top of the front windshield. Called an 'Aircap', the system works in conjunction with a rear deflector to help to direct wind over the passenger compartment. The convertible also gets an electrically operated fabric roof instead of a retractable hardtop. The entry level petrol lineup is the 184HP E200 CGI found in the latest E-Class Sedan. Other powerplants include the 204HP E250 CGI, the 292HP E350 CGI and the top-of-the line E 500 with a 388HP V8 engine. Cabriolet lovers in Singapore, get your cheque books ready!

  8. http://www.6versus8.com/showdown/video4/index.html http://www.6versus8.com/showdown/video5/index.html You know, I think a GTR or EvoX can beat all these cars in this kind of situation, if we only consider speed, without considering things like price, space, comfort, branding etc.
  9. Someone has offer me a used A150; Aug 05 OMV: $27K COE: $16.5K Mileage: 72K Current Paper Value: $32K. Anyone can advise me what should be the reasonable transact price? BTW, what is the body price of A150? Thanks in advance!!! [thumbsup]
  10. Just a quick check with the bros here, since I don't take cab often. Recently, when I came back from overseas, I took a cab back from the airport. The attendant for the cab line directed me to a Merc cab, despite my stating clearly that I only needed a "normal" blue Comfort cab since I had only one bag (there were ordinary Comfort cabs waiting in the bay). When I asked if the fare was the same, he said yes. This answer was repeated by the Merc cabby before I got in. Anyway, the journey via Merc cab cost more than 30 bucks to Bukit Timah. Don't remember Comfort cab trips costing this much; then again, my memory for this sort of detail is not great. So, is the Merc cab more expensive than a normal Comfort taxi - and have I been "conned"? Thanks in advance.

  13. this afternoon, was turning right from marymount road to proceed to lornie road, was in front of the bishan fire station. i was in the middle lane and this merc, SJM 9**4 on the extreme right lane..saw his wheels moving out of his lane so gave him a slight horn..we are side by side, my driver seat is in line with his passenger seat (like half of his car is in front of me)... thereafter he signalled left and immediately switch lane, i got to jam brake to avoid any accident and gave him a loud horn..and this driver who is obviously in the wrong has the cheek to brake and slow down and i got to jam brake another time.. come on la uncle...GROW UP!!!
  14. Hi, saw some reasonable-priced 4-5yrs old BMW/Merc...think worth to buy if intention is to drive till 10th yr year and add on another 10yr COE for total 20yrs drive? though the maintenance costs would be high, but i guess it's still be cheaper than changing new car every other few yrs...any advice? Thanks.
  15. Why do pple slam those who buy an entry level BMW with a 4 cylinder engine while Merc buyers dun get slammed for buying one with just a 4 cylinder? Just for discussion purposes, I can't afford any of the above :p
  16. To the lady driving a black merc at Yishun avenue 6 on 10th Mar around 9am: I hope you can be more considerate when you drive. That stretch of road has many sharp turns and you should be driving carefully. You nearly caused an accident when u swerved into my lane at one of the turns. Didn't even bother to apologize for your error and just continue driving as if nothing happened. For those of you who know this driver...please let her know. I think she works somewhere in Yishun Industrial park A as her car drove into the road where ASM technologies is located. Seems like a high level executive as she was dressed smartly in a power suit...sad to say she don't even have the manners to apologize for her bad driving. Bros if u see a black merc driven by a lady with triple one as the car plate no. around this area...do be careful.
  17. A man, in his late 30s, hurled verbal insults and showed STOMPer Nick and his wife the finger for no apparent reason at the basement carpark of Far East Plaza. The STOMPer sent in a video of the man's bizarre behaviour. In his email to STOMP today (Jan 13), the STOMPer recounted:

  19. By GREG KABLE Tough emissions standards worldwide and soaring manufacturing costs in Germany are behind BMW's decision to switch from high-revving, naturally aspirated engines in its M high-performance vehicles to turbocharged direct-injection powerplants, beginning as early as next year. The move, which could alter the character of BMW M models, places question marks over the immediate future of the M3's 4.0-liter V8 and the M5's 5.0-liter V10. Both engines will make way for forced-induction engines in coming years, according to high-ranking BMW sources. The first M vehicle to make the move to the new turbo powerplants is the X6 xDrive M, which will challenge the Porsche Cayenne GTS and the Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG. Set to appear next June, the X6 xDrive M will be the first model to run BMW M's new twin-turbocharged V8. This engine is also earmarked for the next-generation M5, due out in late 2010. Based on the standard X6 xDrive 5.0i's 4.4-liter 90-degree V8, the new twin-turbo unit is said to match the current M5's naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V10 for power at 500 hp, while providing as much as 516 lb-ft of torque. This should be enough to provide the M-powered X6 with 0-to-60 mph acceleration of less than 5 seconds and top speed limited to 155 mph. "In terms of overall performance, the new engine doesn't give anything away to the powerplant we run now, but it delivers much better consumption and lower emissions," a senior BMW M official told AutoWeek. The move comes as Mercedes-Benz's AMG performance unit is planning to turbocharge its 6.2-liter V8 when it introduces direct injection in 2010. Besides developing new turbocharged engines, BMW's M division is also planning to equip new models with features such as automatic stop/start and brake regeneration in a bid to cut fuel consumption and emissions. BMW is also testing a new driveline incorporating technology from next year's X6 ActiveHybrid, with a nickel-metal-hydride battery pack used to power an electric motor to boost performance levels.
  20. Hey need some advice on where best to send a Merc E240 for servicing (warranty ended liao). Car's about five years old i think. Reliability is crucial. Price of course is a huge factor as well. C&C is expensive and occasionally annoying.
  21. Would it be unreasonable to approach a 2nd hand car dealer to offer to buy a used car, let's say a 6 mth to 1 year old Merc, at "a little above" paper value? I wonder if they will entertain me or redicule/spit at me with disgust.
  22. http://www.asiaone.com/Motoring/Owners/Buy...1109-99262.html MERCEDES-BENZ Of all the cars in its extensive line-up, the E200NGT should get special mention because it is the only purpose-built bi-fuel car you can get from a showroom here. The E200NGT (below) is equipped to run on compressed natural gas as well as petrol. Unlike the gas-converted cars here, its CNG innards are neatly and intelligently packaged so they are unobtrusive. Its engine is modified to combust the cheaper and cleaner fuel with no ill effects and no loss of power. Not only that, Merc agent Cycle & Carriage is on an aggressive sales drive, by pricing the car nearly $30,000 lower than usual. Who says you can't save the Earth (and some moolah) if you drive a luxury car? Price: $136,888.
  23. http://chinese.cari.com.my/news/chinapress...rt=0906mb20.txt http://chinese.cari.com.my/news/chinapress...rt=0906mb52.txt Seems like Ferrari managed to outrun the Merc robbers but unfortunately kena accident. So Merc robbers caught up and robbed (kidnapped) them.
  24. Can't decide which to buy? Merc, on paper, seems like a good buy but feels cramp at the back seat and the car looks small. Jaguar is less powerful but has a rather smooth engine, back seats are small, and no back seat aircon ducts. Which car have more problems that require more workshop visits? Any comments out there? Thanks
  25. Gas cylinder in car boot explodes at petrol station BY KULDEEP S. JESSY Big blow: Members of the fire department and the curious public surveying the damage to the petrol station following the explosion in Jinjang yesterday.
