  1. Mitsubishi Motors showcases Ralliart concepts And aftermarket-tuned vehicles at 2004 Sema Trade Show Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. showcased Ralliart concepts based on its popular Galant sedan and Endeavor SUV at the 2004 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) tradeshow. With the unveiling of these Ralliart concept vehicles, the company marked its fifth consecutive year as an exhibitor at the SEMA show, the world's premier automotive specialty products trade event. Both Ralliart concepts were designed in Mitsubishi Motors' design center in Cypress, Calif. Mitsubishi Motors is displaying a total of seven vehicles in its booth, including the new Lancer Evolution MR and tuned versions of Lancer, Eclipse and Lancer Evolution. Mitsubishi models customized by other exhibitors also will be on display throughout the show. Ralliart is the motorsports arm of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. Worldwide, Ralliart vehicles feature enhanced performance, specialty equipment and sporty styling elements, such as more powerful engines, sport-tuned suspensions as well as special fascia and styling treatments. Galant Ralliart Concept (Still ugly to me, IMHO) The Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart concept embodies the definition of a Ralliart model. The concept vehicle features the same powerful 3.8-liter MIVEC high-output, 260 horsepower (hp) engine that will be available on the 2006 Eclipse, as well as the coupe's 6-speed manual transmission. The Galant Ralliart concept vehicle sits on 19 by 8.5 Racing Hart F10 wheels, 245/40/19 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires, Ralliart exhaust, as well as a custom cold air intake system and coilover springs suspension from Road Race Engineering. A rear stabilizer bar, front and rear strut braces, and Brembo's 4-piston brake kit (front) and custom cross-drilled rotors (back) complete the mechanical modifications. Regarding the Galant Ralliart concept exterior, PIAA driving lamps, show car-quality paint, a metal mesh grille with Ralliart logo, as well as custom-integrated rear spoiler, front and rear fascia and side skirt, immediately make it clear that this is a special ride. The Galant Ralliart concept also features a custom interior, including coordinated carpeting and leather. Comfort and appearance are enhanced with Recaro® front driver and passenger seats, Ralliart shift knob, and Logitech driving simulator steering wheel and pedal set. Even a Recaro® baby seat has been added for the enthusiast family man. Sparco race helmets, as well as 4-point race harness (two sets), driving gloves and driving shoes are all compliments of SuperAutobacs. Endeavor Ralliart Concept Mitsubishi Motors gave a similar Ralliart treatment to the Endeavor. The new 3.8-liter MIVEC high-output engine provides 260 hp, and the popular midsize sport utility vehicle rides on 20 by 8.5 Enkei LM1/5S wheels and 275/40/20 Falcon tires with a SuperAutobacs grounding kit. A five-speed automatic transmission, modified exhaust system and Road Race Engineering custom cold air intake and coilover suspension enhance performance, as do Brembo 4-piston brakes (front) and custom cross-drilled rotors (rear). Visually, the Endeavor Ralliart concept vehicle stands out by incorporating PIAA driving lamps with factory-tinted headlamps, show car quality paint, a metal mesh grille with Ralliart logo and custom front and rear fascia and side skirt. Inside the vehicle, drivers will appreciate a custom interior including coordinated carpeting and leather. Recaro® front seats, Ralliart pedals, Logitech driving simulator steering wheel and pedal set and a custom shift knob all contribute to an enhanced interior appearance. Knowing that the performance enthusiast demands the latest in technology, this Endeavor Ralliart concept is equipped with a Pioneer AVIC-80DVD navigation system and an Eclipse stereo system with speakers installed by SuperAutobacs. For pure fun and entertainment, a Sony Playstation 2 system running on a 30" Mitsubishi LCD monitor is also a key feature. 2004 Lancer Ralliart Another exciting vehicle featured at the Mitsubishi booth is a 2004 Lancer Ralliart, customized with a range of Mitsubishi genuine accessories available at any Mitsubishi dealership. This Lancer Ralliart exterior features body color-coordinated rear-wing spoiler with a graphite-look blade; acrylic hood protector and side window air deflectors; stainless steel scuff plates with Ralliart logo on the front door thresholds; and mirror-polished stainless steel accent for the tailpipe and roof spoiler with Vortex winglets to enhance appearance and reduce drag. Inside the Lancer Ralliart, sport meter gauges (voltage, temperature and vacuum) match the instrument panel; with aluminum sport pedals completing the package. Lancer Evolution MR Edition (YEE-HA!!!!!) Also at the Mitsubishi booth is a Lancer Evolution MR Edition, featuring a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder intercooled-turbocharged engine that delivers 276 hp at 6500 rpm. The MR Edition is the highest-performance, street-legal Lancer Evolution, with a newly-standard Active Center Differential and front Limited Slip Differential, which work with Sports ABS to create a more natural, better-mannered driving feel. Strong fin-design BBS® forged aluminum wheels are exclusive on the MR Edition, and the vortex generator at the trailing edge of the roof creates small vortices that reduce drag and increase the down force generated by the rear-deck spoiler. Styling inside the Lancer Evolution MR Edition is consistent with the exterior design: aluminum shift knob; aluminum and carbon fiber brake lever handle; aluminum pedals; sport meter gauge kit with three gauges (boost, voltage, oil pressure) clustered in the center stack; and a stainless steel plate embossed in red with the MR designation. Moriyama Concept Eclipse Several Mitsubishi vehicles tuned by other exhibitors are in this year's Mitsubishi SEMA booth. Among these is the Moriyama Concept Eclipse, the result of collaboration between Mitsubishi, Pepsi, RJ de Vera and Shawn Williams. This vehicle, an Eclipse concept vehicle customized with inspiration from Pepsi spokesmodel Eri Moriyama, has been touring the nation at all "Hot Import Nights" events. The Moriyama Concept Eclipse captures the eye immediately with its Lamborghini Diablo Pink paint job and carbon fiber accents. Sitting atop massive 20-inch Motegi Racing wheels and BFG Goodrich tires, the vehicle is tuned with full intake and exhaust systems, as well as a N/X direct port nitrous set up. Inside the Moriyama Concept Eclipse, comfort and entertainment reign with Sparco seats, steering wheel and shift knob. Seven television screens as well as an audio system featuring three subwoofers, three powerful amps and front and rear staging units complete this outstanding project car. Pepsi Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII (Taking things too far,IMHO) Another featured vehicle included the Pepsi Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII 2004 Sweeps Concept Car, a collaboration between Mitsubishi Motors, RJ de Vera and Pepsi. This special Lancer Evolution concept vehicle reinforces the Lancer's reputation for high performance and aggressive styling, with a variety of enhancements. A Veilside VS-GT full aero kit and Evo VIII VS-GT wing give the vehicle a cutting-edge, sporty appearance, as does a Versus Motorsports carbon hood and graphics from Auto Indulgence. Performance is boosted with a DC sports exhaust system, AEM intake system, Denso iridium power spark plugs and an Eibach suspension kit. Black suede-wrapped Recaro seats with matching panels and a carbon-style dash and power window trim package add extra flair to the interior of this Lancer Evolution concept car. The interior, which was customized by Street Concepts, also boasts a Veilside shifter and a full audio system with Pioneer CD/tuner head unit, Infinity front and rear stage speakers, Infiniti subwoofers and JBL amplifiers. AMS installed the audio system in a trunk enclosure with neon lighting.

  3. Just wanted to ask, for those who own Volvos, how was the polish from SM when you collected your car? Cause when I got my S40, I noticed that the light on the bonnet has a kind of diffused quality, like warped rays of light spreading all over. A friend told me that it was cause the polish job was shyte and that there are very tiny swirl marks all over. You can't see the marks, but the light diffuses in weird angles. Firstly, is this normal, and secondly, would a wax job correct this? Car is about a week old, was wondering if I should actually start polishing it/waxing it already. After all the manual recommends a one year hiatus before I start on the elbow grease..Other than that, its been the usual shampooing and scrubbing of the rims with one of those soft brushes..man those rims get filthy after a few days lol

  5. Greetings to all here at MCF! I frequent quite a number of local car forums and not one of them lack a anti-toyota SE thread. Just sharing my experience with them with you guys... which was surprizingly very very different from the things I hear: The moment I step in(UBI), the SEs tries to make eye contact and trying to move in liao... I had to look away and quickly walk away to avoid being pestered... Just wanted to look at the cars 1st. In contary to what most people would complain about having problems just to get a SE's attention. It was a Sunday too. Alas was served by a very nice gentlemen that was very courteous, polite and helpful. Very humble with his words too. Threw in nice discounts and offers too. No checkbook or dress code prejudices. Do not know if this improvement of service is due to public feedbacks or really I was just plain lucky to get a good SE but I hope you guys do not condem the cars just because of some snobbish SE. In case you people are wondering... I'm below 25 and I wear tshirt and jeans. Cheers!

ICE?), ABS, 2SRS, keyless entry, immobiliser can they get reverse sensors, multi cd upgrade to DD, foglights FOC? and perhaps vkool? thanks for any feedback

Mitsubishi Motors Set to Facelift Lancer in 2004 By Ulysses Ang If you've just made a downpayment on a new Lancer, well... too bad. Mitsubishi Motors Japan has just released the first photos of a facelifted model that is set to go to the Japanese and American markets by early 2004. Other world markets will surely follow in a few months time. From what we could tell by the photo, the 2004 model will sport the new Mitsubishi family look--something that's been seen in the new Colt and Outlander SUV. The front bumper has been rounded up too, giving the Lancer an overall impression reminiscent of a Toyota Echo. Underneath, it is still not yet known if the Lancer will soldier on with its current set of powerplants, or if new ones will be made available. Rest assured though that the upgrades will not be limited to the exterior shell only. Of course, rumors also circulate that the current Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII model (Evolution in the US), will be the last of its kind before the company shifts the WRC program to the new Colt. Personally, we find the 2004 model a tad risqu

  10. Hi all, Went over to Komoco Motors over the weekend to test drive the Hyundai GETZ. Liked the look of the car, and it drove quite well too It's supposed to be a mini-MPV and so the room height of the car is better than that of a normal saloon car. As a guy of simple taste, my only grouse with the GETZ is that there's no manual version. Asked the sales executives there about the manual version but was told that Komoco has no intention, whatsoever, in bringing in the manual version. Took a look at the MATRIX as well. Wasn't too impressed with it, my main complaint being the fact that the speedometer (and other reading gauges) was located in the middle of the dash-board Weird! The nice set of wheels aside, I was trying to get a look at the much talked about Ginny. Unfortunately, she was in a sales meeting. I was told by other sales people, however, that Ginny's pretty and the gentle demure type Nonetheless, I saw two other sales executives of note - Cheng Cheng (or is it Ching Ching) and Jenny Cheng Cheng's the voluptuous type, with a preference for short skirts and translucent clothing in general . Long hair, not that pretty though but I'm sure all her other qualities more than make up for this Jenny's the slim type with fair complexion, hair reaching just beyond her shoulders. The jeans-type of girl but like Cheng Cheng, has a tendency to flaunt her *ahem* assets - she was wearing quite a low cut top when I saw her Looks like I seem to be more adept at describing women than cars Anyway, since I'm on the look-out for a 1.3 or 1.5 car that is something like a mini-MPV (rather than a saloon), and my budget is 60k to 70k, here are my list of possibles for anyone who shares the same preferences: Hyundai GETZ Honda FIT/JAZZ Daewoo KALOS Toyota IST My personal preference is for the GETZ as I think it is value for money. I would like the Honda FIT/JAZZ but the car is at the high end of my budget . In any case, I'd appreciate any feedback on the selection of cars above, and of course, anything you have to say about the sales persons Btw, it seems that all the nice-looking sales executives are all former SIA stewardesses Milgram
  11. Just posting a warning in case, from the adverts in the papers and the misleading signs in the Kah motors showroom, anyone here is fooled into thinking that the Civic RS has actually come to Singapore. Basically, the RS is a different car altogether, it's the ES3 while the civics here are the ES1 (VTI-s) and ES8 (the others). It has rear disc brakes, the same 1.7 liter engine as the ES1, full bodykit, no sunroof, no side strips (door protectors), body-coloured strip on the bonnet, body coloured strip on the trunk above the number plate, donut headrests, black interior, and most importantly, the chassis code is ES3. I'm not sure about gearing ratios and clutch setup. Anything else is NOT a real Civic RS. Basically, the "RS" at Kah motors is some cosmetically done up thing, with some of the bodykits, RS floormats, RS leather trim (but is not black), 16 inch rims, and is applied to any of the VTI-s, VTi and EXi for something like $4k, which you can probably do a better price at some aftermarket place. I can't believe Kah actually tried to pass that off as an RS. What are they going to do next? Put DC5 bodykit on the Integra iS and pass it off as a Type-R? *shudder*
