  1. Hi All, I need some advice here. My car expiring in may 2017. Its a hatchback. I have a kid now, 18 month. May be planning another in 2018. I am torn between getting a sedan, a mpv, or a suv like harrier. I am getting mixed remarks from various people, some telling me i should go for an MPV as it can give me more miles when my kids grow up, but some tell me if i am not driving more than 5pax often, why waste money and style on MPV, just get a bigger suv or sedan will do. Its a battle of the heart and mind again. My heart calling out to harrier or B180, but my mind telling me think long term get an MPV. What do you all think?
  2. LHL says no need for opposition since most of the population supports the PAP and they have put in Non-Constituency MP in today's ST report http://www.straitstimes.com/politics/not-wise-to-purposely-let-the-opposition-grow-bigger-says-pm Are these Non-Constituency MP what people want other than those participated in the election and how have they performed? Is a one party that has been debated over the years still what people want? Is the idea of not to "purposely" let the opposition grow bigger being the same as making sure they don't grow? How are we going to get another voice in the parliament? If you have most of the resolutions passed in parliament with almost 100% yes, we need to review why then some of these decisions failed. All that have voted yes are not thinking enough or simply complying. Mr Lee also stressed the importance of thinking boldly, and long-term yesterday. The thinking must start from the top not bottom up. Any thoughts?
  3. Hi bros Need a recommendation for reliable distributor for a CCTV to be installed outside the house gate as my neighborhood has been experiencing housebreaking and stolen shoes and belongings outside corridors almost every week. My 2 pairs of shoes got stolen lately. When has Singapore become such an unsafe country?
  4. I have the RFID tag for HDB season parking. Is a need to show the tag or simply have the tag in the car? For example, could I leave the RFID tag in the glove compartment as the parking warden uses a scanner to identify if a car have a valid RFID.
  5. Budget up to $3K+ for king size with bed frame. Looking at comfort, good support (cannot too soft until backache) and pocketed spring (do-not-disturb) type Anyone have tried Slumberland Royal Princess? (bed+frame $3199) or Slumberland Sanctuary (bed+frame $2499) What about Dunlopillo Duchess? Simmons? Sealy? Serta? What model is good? Do not want to take chance with less established brands, do not like too hard ot too soft, and do not like memory foam For sharing and advise on mattresses, thanks
  6. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/hondajet-soars-with-wrong-over-the-wing-engine-design It's fast, it's jet power and you don't need a COE :) No Honda Sensing, many blind spots and no reverse sensors! Oh this is even worse than a Jazz or City - no airbags! But it's the fastest Honda you can buy ;) It's only a five seater, but it goes up to 486 mph and the FC is the best in class... Well it can go 1408 mils without refuelling... Only 5mil...
  7. MY current situation is abit complicated. So I just want to know if the options I'm considering is it feasible. Due to personal issue, I need to change my current car, which is quite new. Problem is I don't want to fork out too much for the new, so I'm considering a downgrade. Current drive, Honda Vezel 1.5X petrol. Less than 3 years old. Out standing loan around 30k. Market valuation is 64 to 69K. Wish to change to either New Kia K3 at 73,999 or 2nd hand MPV of similar value (E.g Wish, Sienta, Etc). Main issue is because I need to change ownership of current car, and can't change unless loan is settle. So only way is to change the car to clear current loan, and get another new loan. Is this move feasible in terms of monetary means. How much do I tend to lose from doing such move?
  8. Hi all, need your advices. Had changed my 4 tyres recently, do I need to get my alignment done also?? Had done the rotation during changing. My steering wheel was tilted a bit now.
  9. I need to order some basketball jersey (Jerseys & shorts) from Guangzhou China, but was told by the china supplier that the freight fee will be USD70 just for 14sets of jerseys set. I engaged a china courier company to help me with the importing but was rejected by the custom, reason being told that the jerseys has "logo" meaning it's a local brand, so only their engaged courier company " EMS Express" can send the jerseys to me without any issues. So i would like to seek advise from any experts out there able to recommend me a courier company that i can engage to import in the so call "local brand" jerseys without any problem and of cause to see if there's any ways to reduce the freight fee.Thanks.

  12. Hi all, Needed some advices as me and my wife couldn't decide which way to go. I shall tell my story in point form. 1. Currently living in a 5 room flat in woodlands. 2. Bank loan left 8 years to clear about $52K. 3. Applied for a 4 room BTO flat and was lucky enough to have slected a flat next to Bedok Mall and opposite Bedok MRT. 4. We had paid the the $2k option fee. 5. Pending to pay $52k(10% downpayment) + $15k(3% stamp fee). These 13% going to cost us about $67K. 6. We have $50k cash on hand. Another $15k from my wife CPF. 7. Wife just became PR 2 years ago. Therefore her CPF OA was little. 8. My CPF OA was used to service the bank loan of our current flat. 9. The amount was just enough to service the monthly loan. 10. New BTO flat in Bedok TOP 2021. 11. Selling our current Woodlands flat in 2021 need to pay HDB $50k levy. 12. Expected bank loan left around $30k in 2021. 13. I am using a safe amount to calculate. Let's say we only managed to sell our Woodlands flat for $400k in 2021. Minus levy and leftover bank loan. we can get back $320k from our Woodlands flat. 14. I knew out of the $320k that i get back. About half need to goes back to my CPF OA. But these money that went back to CPF OA will be used to pay for our New Bedok flat in 2021. 15. New flat left $470k after the downpayment. HDB able to grant us about $150k loan. 16. Therefore we have no problem for the new flat. We only need to save another $50k - $70k to renovate our new flat in 2021. Option 1 1. Thinking of investing our $50k cash on hand on oversea property. Wife is from china Hainan Dao. 2. We are thinking of buying a small condo unit about 40 square meter that cost about 400k - 500k RMB. 3. Why small unit? We only have $50k SGD on hand. Plus small unit maybe easier to rent out to single professional. 4. Downpayment needed about 30%. Therefore downpayment for an average 40 square meter condo unit about 120k - 150k RMB which is about $24k - $30k SGD. Option 2 1. Shall we go ahead with the Bedok BTO flat? (We like the location very much as it is next to Bedok Mall and opposite Bedok MRT). Capital gain from the new flat will be much better as compare to other flat that is not near to mall and mrt. OPtion 3 1. Apply for another 4 room BTO in other location which cost around 280K. I believe after selling our current 5 room flat in Woodlands. We should have enough cash for other investment. Hope that the expert here will give us some advises. Thanks in advance!
  13. Anyone switch from a HDB to a resale pte property? Do you buy the pte property first then look to sell your HDB? Or the other way round? As for the pte property resale, does it mean that you can loan up to 90% of the price of the property? since upfront only need 1% + 4% + Stamp duty?
  14. Hi, I got into an accident last Thursday. As this was my first accident, I'm not sure what to do. Would appreciate some advise here.. What happened on Thursday was this delivery lorry in front of me suddenly stopped and reversed into my bumper, causing damage to my bumper and bonnet. I made a report already (albeit late). I went to this random workshop near my house and the cost of repair is $350. That bugger admitted that he was at fault and offered to pay $200 to settle privately, but the payment never came. He has stopped picking up my calls so I think it's safe to assume that he no longer wants to settle it privately. Making a claim against my own insurance is not worth it because my excess is $600. Now I have 2 options - either to bear the cost of repair myself or file a third-party claim against him. The workshop I went to advised the latter. He said if I decide to pursue a TP claim, I'll only have to pay $350 if I lose and if I win, I don't have to pay a single cent. The latter option sounds more appealing to me because I wish to teach that bugger a lesson, but my only concern is do I have to bear the inflated cost of repair if I lose my claim? Also, how troublesome would the TP claim become? I understand I need to appear in court and be interviewed by the lawyers, but are there other commitments? It's also rumoured that making a TP claim would increase your premium - is this true? Is there a difference in making a TP claim with a workshop authorised by NTUC Income (my insurer) and one that is not? Hope those with experience can share! Thanks.

  18. Dear Forummers, Apologies if there is already a thread for asking such questions, but I need some help. I am looking at purchasing a used Audi A4 1.8 L and the price quoted by the dealer is 68800. The car is a single owner car with 66K mileage on the Odo and OMV of 36,062 and COE of 43290. I am wondering if the price quoted is reasonable. I also saw a similar car quoted at 60,800 but the mileage on the ODO for the car is 107,000 so am thinking of getting the one with the lower mileage. Any help or feedback would be appreciated. Mods: Please move this thread / merge the thread in the appropriate topic if there is already a topic/thread existing on this topic. Cheers

  21. A review from the man (Jeremy Clarkson) himself. http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/article/0...1074054,00.html It has always been accepted that the car is the second most expensive thing you will ever buy, after a house. Really? Anne Robinson admitted in her newspaper column last weekend that she has been bombing around in a Perodua Kelisa
  22. Dear sifus, I know it can be a hassle to explain everything to a newbie in ICE. I do enjoy listening to good music at home and on my digital player. Music i listen to - Vocals - Instrumental - Rock/concert sometimes Medias i listen to: - CDs - Digital lossless formats My car - Toyota Vellfire (has 2 front speaker locations and 1 rear speaker location for each side of the car) Items i think i need to change (correct me if i'm wrong) - change stock HU - change Front speakers with Component for tweeters - change Rear speakers to coaxial? - Add subwoofer - Add amplifier - Do soundproofing I'm not very particular as i know i'm listening in a car. And at most during weekdays spending about 1-1.5hrs in total in the car, weekends should be more. But i would appreciate some good music to listen to for the drives. Budget: $3k max?
