  1. Some newsbits about the next major update of the Skoda Superb, the 2009 model will be based on a stretched and widen Octavia II platform to distance itself from VW similar models mainly the VW Passat. What are your thoughts on the direction that Skoda has taken or was it a VW decisions? Anyways looks like the Superb will be pegged with the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Alfa Romeo 159, Lexus IS series of cars? Than where is Octavia's class range pitted against? What's your views?
  2. I have ppl telling me that the octy body is worth only 500-1000. Is it really that pathetic? Just wanna more input from fellow Skoda members.
  3. can some one here help me? thks, i hearsay can get another 5-10 bhp more....

  5. Selling brand new Axxis Ultimate brake pad. Can't fit mine because I just upgraded to bigger brake caliper. Suitable for original Skoda Octavia and Golf Mk IV front brake calipers. Below is something I copied from stoptech's website. Axxis Ultimate is a kevlar- and ceramic-strengthened compound which offers far and away the best price to performance ratio currently available in a high-performance street pad. Proper bedding procedure is critical to the performance of this pad, but once complete, you can expect truly world-class bite, MOT, minimal rotor and pad wear, and very low noise levels. Dust production is medium-to-high. On front-engine platforms, the Ultimate is excellent for aggressive street and autocross use in the front calipers. It also works very well in the rear, for applications ranging from aggressive street to moderate track use. Ultimate is NOT recommended for use on road courses in front calipers as this can cause uneven pad deposition on rotors as well as resultant vibration. Street and autocross use only. OK for club-level track use in rear calipers. Imported from US at more than $160. Willing to let go at $100. PM me if you're interested.
  6. To all A5 Octavia owners, I believe the after-market 1 DIN headunit provided by CA is installed with the following procedures: - A rectangular aperture is cut in the blank plastic cover. - The mounting frame for the 1 DIN headunit is pushed into the aperture. - The headunit is installed, with the face plate protruding from the surface of the plastic panel. Here is a very neat and tidy solution to installing after-market 1DIN headunits from Skoda. If you are keen to get a set, please send me a PM not later than 23rd Januaray 2007. I will be placing a collective order for this item with a Skoda dealer in Austria. The price is SGD135 inclusive of the 20% value-added tax applicable in Austria.
  7. Someone's A5 made it to Life section of the ST.. haven't read the write up yet. Just let you guys know.
  8. Does anyone need one? Just need to wash and re-oil.

  12. Hi bros, My Octy Tour doesn't come with rear speakers .... And now I have to spend $$$$ getting a pair. Anyone know what size is the rear speakers ? 5.25" ? For those intending to get the Octy A5 aka Octy2, you might do well to check if rear speakers is included as well. Got a feeling it has been 'specced' out too ..... Feedback appreciated.

  15. Just received a mailer for the pre-view of the new Octavia. Quite cheap skate effort actually. Used a postcard and just stick the address over. It's on 4 Nov, 6pm - 9 pm. Too bad I'll be overseas. Anyone else received and going??
  16. Exterior Albeit the Octavia II retains the major styling cues from its predecessor, it cuts a sportier and more masculine look compared to the Octavia I. The design elements which contribute to the new look include: - Broader shoulder which extends from the front fender to the rear fender. - Chiseled shaped rear fenders. - More slanted B pillars which help to convey a stronger sense of motion. - Sharper front headlamp design. - V-shaped front side fenders, complemented by the sharply slanted bonnet lines. Design cues taken from the VW Phaeton. The following improvements are found on the Octavia II: - Double-layered seals on all doors: one on the door opening aperture of the body, the other surrounding the boundary of the door. (Single layer door seals were found on the Octavia I). - Rubber seal at the intersection of the front and rear doors, which help to reduce the level of wind noise. - Aerodynamically designed weather seals with minimal protrusion at the interface of the window and door to reduce drag. - Redesigned rear lamp which increases the area of illumination when night driving lamps are switched on. Skoda claims that the area of illumination has been increased by around 50% with this design. - Aero wipers which come as standard equipment.

  18. Seems like the Skoda has rolled out an SUV based on the Octavia Mk II chasis called the Octavia Scout. http://www.skoda-auto.com/global/model/oct...scout/homepage/ Anyone got more info on this ??? Coming to SG ?? Definately better than a roomster yeah ? If same price as a Tucson... Then would be a real steal... Check out the pics....
  19. Hi folks, I was clearing out my house and realised that I have a black MS design rear spoiler. SE gave it to me but never used it. Before I dump it, i would like to know if anyone wants it (FOC). Thanks.
  20. hi all, Just had my battery changed 3 weeks ago. Got the car jump started. Of course, there are techniques to jump start (explaination below), got it started and drove to Autobac, bought a slightly bigger size battery(explained below too) for S$100 (before 10% discount, saw one at S$69 before) went back to office and fit it myself, easily, of course I was told later that Autobac does it for S$3 only... silly me. Jump Start; Same CC cars - generally Jap models has smaller AH (Ampere Hour than continental 45 VS 55 AH), hence, look for a similar Continental or bigger Japanese to help. Similar means, for our car is between 55 to 62AH, connect positive to positive and negative to negative, guess you already know that. Larger vehicles like pick-up, usually about up to 72AH, then you have to, ground it to the chassis with the negative, or it will short your ECU. Next is, know your car and the life span of battery. Maintenance free, they are like rechargable batteries, just die on you like yes or no, usually last between 12 to 15 months and Maintenance last about 18 to 24 months...I use a higher AH one to help the battery to last a little longer ( my mother in law had this problem this morning, her battery lasted since May 2002). Our car need 55AH to start up, I bought one that is 60AH, then if the battery is dying, it has a range before it fail, and I can tell it is dying(starting is draggy) when it is between 60 to 55AH. Selecting a battery, you must know (looking at the battery from the car front) a. The positive is whether left or right. b. Size of battery (Octavia is 55AH) c. Holder (can use up to 60AH), held on by the bottom, most Japanese has a bar across. While changing the battery, always do this, take the positive out then negative, while putting back, negative then positive. For Octavia, remove the casing by depressing the side, there are one button on each sides. Flip the fuses to the back. There is a bolt at the bottom of the holder, which holds the battery, unscrew it and shift the battery forward. Reverse the process for fixing back..That's it. When around the expiry period, keep one on standby and change it when you need it. Ivan
  21. Introducing the 2.0T octavia vRS. just to let everyone know what the vRS should be in case you guys go down to Czech Auto and see a different spec. I read(you know from who lah), there should actually be ONE spec. for the vRS. so here are the pics, notice the info display which is WHITE (next to the speedo) and the GREEN calipers which is different. also notice that this one has a TURBO, hence the "T" in 2.0T ......... please note that these pics are from UK, singapore specs supposed not to differ........but they do, let's play spot the difference !
