Here is the official quote for the Octavia Mk II (okay, not new, since they have been sold in Europe since 2004) okay for the model introduced 2 years ago in Europe, now is in singapore for: 1) Octavia 1.6 SR (same old 8v engine found in previous Octy) -- $74,988 The car comes in classic trim, old engine and no climatronic aircon (very similar to Octy I Tour currently sold, but $20k more!) 2) Octavia Combi ---$ 79,988 3) Octavia vRS 2.0TFSi ---- $98,988 ....only 2 units black and dynamic blue color Note this model comes with the 6 speed manual instead of DSG. Don't know if comes with 17" instead of 18"s........

Hi, guys. I am a newbie here. My wife and I are looking around for a new car to replace our 4 yrs + Nissan. We have narrowed down to Altis 1.8 or the Skoda and hv test-drive both. I hv read quite good review for both cars. We like the Octavia look, the drive, especially the road holding part . But the Altis scored well in terms of interior finishes and price (abt 83 k for the deluxe while the Octavia is asking for 90k for their premium package). We think we can bargain the price of Octavia down if we are really keen. But there is always a tussle between Jap and Conti cars in terms of service support, resale value etc.... there isn't many recent discussions on Octavia on this forum. So could any kind soul out there share yout latgest view/experience abt driving and owning Octi? Thanks

A preview of the new Octavia which will be coming to our shores by July. To sum up briefly, the new Octavia has been built upon the strong fundamentals laid by the Octavia I. The choice of interior materials is one of the many aspects which the Octavia II has been improved upon. All doors are equipped with rubber trims at the edges to improve aerodynamics and to reduce wind noise. (See the third picture) Enjoy!

Got this from the website. http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/index.php?url=...bycar/index.htm Recall- 2000: LXi models built May '98 to Jan '99: incorrect ABS servo fitted could lead to brakes locking up. 25/6/2001: Fuel tank may leak. Check for leaks and replace tank where necessary. 2001: On Octavia 4x4s built up to March 2000, the bottom rear hub carrier ball joint can corrode and seize, leading to the lower suspension arms snapping at the hub ends. 10/5/2002: 2,995 Octavias recalled because electrical fault in ABS ECU could cause overheating, possibly even leading to fire damage. 31/3/2003: VINS TMB***1U*32665031 to TNB***1U*32675256 and TNB***1U*38665036 to TMB***1U*38667146 rar window wiper may loosen during high speed driving causing it to break off. Replace wiper arm and blace. 26/3/2003: VINS TMB***1U*X2148718 to TMB***1U*X22227663 and TMB***1UY2285279 to TMB***1UY2294866: Due to a manufacturing fault, tension cracks may occur on the vacuum pipe to the brake servo in the area of the pipe connections. If a vacuum pipe leaks the brake servo loses its function requiring a lot more force on the brake pedal to stop. Check vacuum pipes and replace if necessary.

Both are about the same price right now. Conti side gives very good comments for Octavia. Exterior wise, I prefer Altis. Bros here, what do you have to say? about performance, resale value, interior, Europe made vs Thai made etc etc? THanks.

How does it compare with the equivalent conti like say, Opel Meriva 1.6 MTA, Focus Estates and others in term of the mentioned areas and ease of future disposal in the used car market? Hi all.. See alot of Octy fans and experts here.... Recently became a small convert after I went down for a test drive.... NICE !!! Understand that there is a Vento engine with 75hp and the current Tour is using a Bora engine with 102bhp. Would like to ask a question to the experts here.... Which year did the Octavia switch to the newer Bora engine ? So if I buy a 2nd hand 2004/2005 1.6A Ambiente. Which engine will have ??? I think the Bora Engine is better than the Vento ??? Any comments from Bros here ?
