2. Just got my Civic FD month ago, every thing is quite OK except air-con, don't know whether it's problem or normal, when stationary mode and engine running, the air-con compressor cut-in and cut off quite frequently, I though always like that how long the compressor life span do your Civic also like that?
3. Abstract from CNA, http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../357513/1/.html SINGAPORE: Car owners will now have the option to exchange their Preferential Additional Registration Fee (PARF) and the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) rebates for cash. The change follows a government review of the rebates to make it easier for motorists to give up their cars and switch to public transport. From September 1, registered owners of unused and valid PARF/COE rebates can apply to the Land Transport Authority for encashment. Once their applications are processed, they will receive a refund equivalent to the rebate amount. To facilitate the implementation of this change, PARF/COE rebates with expiry dates between July 1 and September 29 will be extended to the end of September. Those affected will be informed of the revised expiry dates within the next two weeks. Motorists who wish to use their PARF/COE rebates to offset the upfront taxes for a new vehicle can continue to do so. The LTA says it will continue to issue rebates to car owners upon de-registration of their vehicles. The rebates will remain transferable and valid for 12 months to provide flexibility to vehicle owners. Transport Minister Raymond Lim had announced in March this year that the government would be reviewing the PARF and COE rebates. This was to tie in with the overall effort to make public transport a choice mode for all commuters, including car owners.

7. Make no mistake - The VW Golf is a great car - timeless design, quality interiors, iconic GTi image and that fantastic price tag so if you bought one with extra cash you saved for your old age - you can expect some form of exclusivity - right? - wrong! With the MK6 Golf looming in the coming months as a completely new model over the current Golf Mk5 - MAN! is VW is really CASHING IT IN!! The basic golf has today spanned an amazing range of engine variants and body types to attract all kinds of buyers For starters, if you bought a basic Golf for Camry money a few years ago - You are guaranteed a dull image b/c the GTi just looks so much better - and guess what? There seems to be so many more GTis then basic Golfs on the road - and basic Golfs are not cheap! If you bought a mind retardingly expensive Golf R32 that came with that super exclusive silver front end - rest assured - VW - is now selling a car - with the same super exclusive front end - as the cheapest Golf derived VW branded family car money can buy! - So budget buyers! Corolla or Jetta? Corolla or Jetta..Corolla or R32?...wait a minute...hmmm... Wait wait - one more trick out the VW hat! - The iconic GTi has also spawned an unwanted younger step brother - also known as the GLI! - A Jetta with a 2L Turbo and more importantly - the FACE of the iconic GTi! (now..now..we never said that GTi face was sacred right??)- and guess what? Its CHEAPER too!! Flame away!
8. http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Fri...icle/index_html [ "The MPV drivers have asked for the 70-litre cylinders while the 57-litre cylinder is better suited to other cars," he said. Installation of the 57-litre cylinders costs an average of RM2,900. The cost of installing the larger capacity cylinders is higher, based on the size of the cylinder ] Very cheap leh! Anyone know if it is the same stuff as over here? LTA-OK?

11. COMPANIES which offer financially strapped car owners a way out - by taking over their vehicles to be used as rentals - are sprouting. It makes good business sense for the dozen or so firms, which advertise their services online - they avoid the huge capital outlay of acquiring their own car fleet. On the surface, it looks like a good deal for the car owners too. Many of them cannot sell their cars due to their huge loans and the fall in car prices in recent years. The 'rental' firms pay them a monthly fee for their cars, often enough to cover their loan instalments. But there is a catch - a costly one. It is illegal to rent your car out this way. If something happens to the car while it is hired out, there may not be any insurance cover. If it is stolen, insurers may not pay up. A check by The Straits Times found several advertisements on a website, efair.com.sg, targeting individuals who cannot quite afford the car they bought. An ad by Xtreme Car Rental read: 'Having problems to upkeep your current car? Wanted (sic) to sell away car but can't sell due to huge cash top-up?I can solve all your problems and I have help (sic) a lot of car owners.' Another promised to not only take care of monthly instalments, but also give 'cash rebates'.All the owner needed to do was to leave the car with it, a 'licensed car rental company in Singapore'. One ad by a Mr Ricky Soh was more direct: 'Are you having any difficulties in servicing your monthly instalment? No worries! Do e-mail me your car model, monthly instalment...and we can work it out for you.' What these firms are doing is against Land Transport Authority (LTA) rules. 'Private car owners are not allowed to rent out their cars through rental companies,' its spokesman said. They had to do so on their own - and only at certain times and on particular days of the week. The LTA cracked down on six cases each in 2005 and 2006 and on 11 last year. There have already been six cases in the first four months of this year. Both car owners and rental firms face fines of up to $1,000, jail terms of up to three months or both. Car owners also risk a driving ban of up to 12 months. Despite the penalties, trade sources say the practice is widespread. 'There are a lot of cases which go unreported,' said Mr Peter Chong, president of the Vehicle Rental Association, which represents over 30 rental firms controlling most of the rental fleet here. Firms operating illegally do not need huge capital outlays to start up a fleet. They can reach out to consumers on a tight budget because they offer lower rates. Mr Chong said that since many of these cars were not registered as rental cars, hirers may have no insurance cover in an accident. 'I've come across cases where insurers refuse to pay up because the vehicle was not a rental car,' he said. 'That's the danger.' The LTA said it takes a serious view of illegal rentals, and is 'consistently taking action against those who fail to comply with the law''.

13. Woman admits having unmuzzled dog which bit little girl By Elena Chong A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl on an outing with her parents at Sentosa Resort was attacked by a an unleashed and unmuzzled Siberian husky. Part of little Matilda Eve Sail's left ear was torn and she had to be hospitalised for a night. She was attacked by the ferocious dog at Tanjung Beach at Sentosa on Sept 30 last year. The dog handler, Goh Boon Bee, 24, was hauled to court on Wednesday to face a police summons charge of being negligent with the husky. She pleaded guilty. The court heard that Matilda's father, Mr Jamie Sail, 41, saw an unleashed black and white Siberian husky dog charging towards his daughter and biting her on both sides of her head. He rushed towards them and chased the dog away. Goh's friend, Ms Toh Xiao Wei, 20, who was the dog owner, had asked Goh to take care of her pet that month. District Judge Shaiffudin Saruwan postponed sentencing to June 11 to allow Goh to consider compensating the girl's father. Matilda's medical bill amounted to $3,400. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/Courts%2Band%2BCrime/STIStory_237279.html --------------------- May 14, 2008 Dog owner fined $2,000 By Elena Chong, Courts Correspondent A DOG owner was fined $2,000 on Wednesday and ordered to compensate $100 to a gardener who was bitten by his mongrel. Gary Yeo Eng Cher, 43, an entrepreneur, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened outside Fullerton Hotel at Fullerton Square on June 26 last year. The gardener, Mr Liew Eng San, 69, then working at the hotel, was bitten on his left thigh. A court heard that the gardener was trimming grass outside the hotel at about 7.50am that day when Yeo's leashed dog bit him. He shouted at Yeo who continued to walk off. Yeo later returned and approached Mr Liew who wanted to show him his injuries but Yeo ignored him. Mr Liew sought treatment and was given a day's medical leave. Yeo's lawyer, Mr Thomas Ng, said his client, who jogged daily with his dog Brie, deeply regretted the incident. Yeo could have been fined up to $5,000 under the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act. http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/Others_C20/Lite_%26_EZ_F15/gforum.cgi?do%3Dpost_write%3Bforum%3D15=Post+New

15. Hi Was wondering how much is the estimated difference between a second owner car instead of the first owner? Is there sort of any unwritten rules or calculations? Tried asking one dealer but the price is like , quoting "cos you're the 2nd owner else 1st owner give you 5-10k more". Though my car is like only 1 year old and tip-top. Sort of gave up after that.

17. Hi, Going to get a car this weekend. Tied between Sunny and Sirion. I have read that Sirion population is small and spare parts and servicing will come from limited sources. Cost of maintanence or spare part would be higher when compare with Sunny. Is it true? Generally how much more expensive. OMV value is slightly higher by about 1k. Are there other saving in tax or insurance if I get Sirion? Or any other benefits? Thanks in advance. Sidetrack: Does Sirion really have the same engine as Myvi?
18. OK I did some search of the forums plus some legwork research. MB coolant is low silicate, no phosphate and good stuff. Tye Soon sells it. Are there any other sources. From discussions on it. It was selling at $4-7/500mL or is 1L bottle? I went to Ric Tat. Toyota red only comes pre-diluted. I need concentrate. So I can forget about it. Honda owners! Does the Honda long life coolant come in pre-diluted or concentrate? Where are the sources of Honda fluid?. Cost? Finally, Prestone 5/150 GM approved Dexcool substitute sells for a whopping $11/L (still cheaper than Castrol's which is 12.50/L) in Home-Fix DIY. Any other sources of this Prestone coolant? Are they any cheaper. Finally, where can I get Valvoline stuff? I mean a store with a complete range of Vavloline stuff. From their coolants, to oil, to brake fluid and stuff.

21. Hi all, The story goes like this... Last week i found a small mynah bird standing on the steps of a staircase so i approach the bird see see if its injured. Instead the bird open its mouth thinking i have food or something, and it doesnt fly. So i figured its still a very very young bird that fell off from the nest... Afraid that the bird will become cat's food so i brought the bird home. And then ive been feeding it ever since. So everyday the bird just go whereever i go and it stands on my hands and shoulders but i cant leave it walking around the house because it shits everywhere! And i have a dog so i cant risk my dog eating the birdshit, So i bought a cage for the bird.. Then everyday the bird kpkb kpkb and makes alot of noise until i let it out of the cage to feed it. So i was thinking maybe i set it free! So i brought the bird to the field and the bird flew and flew for a few rounds and then landed infront of me! Then crows started to circle around us and from far can see cats looking at us. And so... the bird stand on my shoulder and we went home yet again. i already have a dog and a hamster and i dont really have time to attend to the bird, everyday have to rush home thiking the bird will get hungry, wa really quite tiring. Anyone here is a bird lover and willing to take in the bird? Or any advices? If i just leave it in the wild will it die? Normally birds will fly away even before u get near them but this one wont!
22. i know there's quite a few Bravo posts lately....but this commercial looks impressive. can't imagine what power celebs can hold. but damn it, Fiat owns nearly all italian anyway, so they can get their superstars to endorse. see the link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M27j_RuXV1M
23. Having some thoughts to get a mp3 player. Was recommended Apple though I did consider Cowon. Understand Ipod can be hook up to car audio depending on HU. So, now I am thinking either Ipod Classic 80GB or Ipod Touch 8GB. Understand the latter have PDA function including map. Not sure whether is this similar to GPS so calling users to share their reviews especially the map function. TIA.
