  5. Hi guys, I've got a chandelier which is very old and I'm trying to do restoration. I've send to someone to do restoration a few years ago since the gold plating faded. But the restoration work done previously wasn't quite nice. The chandelier was spray painted in gold paint but its quite dull even when newly restored. So I don't know if its a paint problem or is there any better products out there. I've sanded/rubbed down the paint using very fine grit sandpaper, including some remnants of the gold plating, revealing a shiny base metal. Not sure what was the metal material but there are fine spots of rust/oxidation, but very minimal given that this chandelier is 20yrs old. I'm considering either 1) Applying clear coat over it and leave it as such. But I really wonder if it'll have strong adhesion since the base metal is shiny now. I am inclined to do this since it'll maintain a shiny look even though its nolonger gold colour. 2) Applying Rustoleum Metallic Pure Gold paint. Has anyone tried this before? This is expensive but I'm guessing it'll turn out better than the cheap gold paint from neighbourhood hardware shops. Also, for this Rustoleum range, I think it has a primer combined in this paint so it should last a long time. Any comments?

I'm intending to paint my house... anybody have contacts that can share (shops that sell paint)? Thanks...
  11. one morning last week when I went to my car there's a cigarette butt on top of the boot. A closer look I found the car paint was burnt brownish already. My car was deep grey in color so it is not obvious unless looked carefully. But for a light color painted car it'll definitely be very noticeable. Just want to remind folks not to park too closely to HDB windows if possible. especially rear of the building where anythin could be thrown out of the kitchen/toilet window.
  12. Anyone ever try to let this company to do pps on thelr car before (Williams F1 Team Ceramic Coat Paint Protection ), any feed back ??
  13. Recently my car hit a barrier. The roof was dented and need respray. Was quoted dent repair $170 (have to remove interior lining, inorder to knock), respray whole roof $350. Total - $520. Is the cost reasonable ? My ride is a 2006 Vios. Thank you.
  14. Anyone got white paint on their cars when driving this morning or yesterday evening? I need to know where so maybe got chance to claim $$ from LTA if it's their contractors' fault. Suspected route - Jurong => PIE (towards Airport) => Lornie Road => Braddell Road => Bartley Road (flyover) => Tampines. I saw white paint on my tyres, mostly on the left wheel fenders, and bits on the body this morning upon reaching the office carpark. I don't recall seeing any paint on road and I don't even know if it happened this morning or yesterday. Guess i can only suck thumb....
  15. Before i start, i have to say MY paintwork will lose SG paintwork But here goes, This spray paint shop in MY , fuyong, recommended by a close person who done his spray there. And i seen the paintwork. Not fantastic but not lousy too. 19. Which one will you choose? paint ur calipers? - did it before, now and then re-coat till paint too thick. not easy to clean cause brake dust like to stick deep into the high temp paint... brake covers? - plus point cleaning is so much easier! but many say calipers cant breath... silicon might fall off... made in china ones might melt... screw or rivet might damage or weaken calipers... worse is tat cover so big disc so small look funny... like poser... wat u think? upgrade disc to slotted or drilled - logically better performance? but daily stop go traffic in SG my friends use say pads finish faster... hmmmm... true? upgrade disc and rotors - unless you get ENDLESS or SPOON or Brembo or a good brand (means very expensive) cheaper one i have heard stories of excessive pad wear, leak, loose, not a perfect fit etc... haiz... So i thought, just spray a nice coat of high temp paint... then it wont look like poser / fake... BUT then i saw this shop in JB had this endless brake cover and my it looked good... really having 2nd thoughts now... i checked on the net (cgi.ebay.com.sg/RED-ENDLESS-Caliper-cover-kit)...and found out thailand does soooooo many types... think i might... just might.. maybe will try the brake covers... anyone knows where to get in SG? the latest endless types...

  24. Hi all, I'm wondering if there is any such service available in Singapore. Mobile service for scratch repair (Spray paint type) and minor spray paint job. Such service quite common in UK and US when search online. Or anyone know where to get custom mix auto paint in the form of aerosol can? Hope someone can enlighten me with good info Thank you!
  25. Just returned home after getting 2 quotes for some paint rectification works on my car. The first workshop (quite big and established) quoted me $785 and the second workshop (small OMO in a small industrial estate) quoted me $430. I forgot to ask the type of paint that the first workshop uses, but the second workshop is using DuPont Centari paint. My question now is, is $430 a reasonable price to pay? Some pictures below to show the things that need to be rectified, including some small bodywork repairs. All comments are welcome Rear bumper (heat back to shape and respray entire bumper) Rear left door (respray entire door) Front left door (respray entire door, including fixing that mean dent!) Front bumper (spot respray only) Front bumper (spot respray only)
