  1. Just came back from breakfast at old airport road. When drive out saw this barrierless entry. Think hosay liao, free parking on Sunday. Next thing drive out received sms from HDB. See the screenshot. Knn which scholar this time again force us download another useless app. Registered few times then succeed. Hate those apps force u to have long complicated password. Want to do just login thru singpass la. Thks to our brilliant govt I've now got another useless app on my phone. Ps: pls park at outside parallel lots if you intend to eat at old airport road.
  2. Source: https://mustsharenews.com/honda-colouring-practice/ Driver Of Honda Car Fails To Park Within Lot, Gets Colouring Exercise As A Joke Poor parking jobs are probably something many motorists in Singapore have encountered before. But a driver of a silver Honda Shuttle apparently did theirs so badly that someone decided to leave a colouring practice sheet to teach them to ‘stay within the lines’. Looking at the photo, the car appeared to be halfway out of its lot, clearly infringing into the lot beside it. Whoever left the colouring exercise certainly made a good jab as the gesture amused many netizens. Poorly parked Honda gets colouring practice sheet While driving a car requires skill, parking one does too, which the driver of a silver Honda Shuttle seemed to lack. Either that, or they were in a rush and decided to park as they pleased. In a post on 7 Dec, Facebook page SG Road Vigilante – SGRV shared a photo of the car in question not parked squarely in its intended lot. Although half of the car’s body sat within one lot, a good third of its right side ‘spilt over’ into the lot to its right. Should there be no other lot left but the one beside it, we’re sure the other driver would have been vexed. Noticing the evidently poor parking job, someone decided to leave the Honda driver a message by assigning them some ‘homework’ in the form of a colouring exercise with a note. “Many three-year-olds have trouble staying within the lines,” the passive-aggressive note read. “Maybe if you practise colouring this turtle, it will help with your parking.” The ‘turtle’ did appear to look more like a tortoise though. It also possessed the most judgmental stare possible. SGRV uploaded a soft copy of the sheet, which implies that it’s easily available for anyone who might want to do the same. Netizens find assignment funny What the stranger did may seem like a lot of effort for a funny jab, but this isn’t the first time the colouring tortoise has appeared tucked under a wiper. In 2021, a BMW driver who parked slanted received one, though the car appeared to be still within the lot. At least the tortoise message is less offensive. Netizens showed their support for the funny jab in the post’s comments. Another user shared that they participated in such activities too. Unsurprisingly, the targeted drivers merely looked at the paper and tossed it away. One commenter, however, decided to point out the fact that there could be some other side of the story. They brought up a disabled driver as a possible example. Either way, we at least hope the judgmental tortoise lives rent-free in the heads of truly inconsiderate drivers so they’ll remember to park properly next time. And earlier this year, an Audi that was parked a little too far to the left received the passive-aggressive tortoise, alongside a fully aggressive note decrying the driver’s sexual prowess.
  3. This is probably the most civil confrontation I’ve ever seen, while keeping a mildly aggressive edge. What happened? A confrontation took place at Defu Lane when an uncle did not park properly. The video immediately opens with the person behind the camera asking “How many lots did you park in?” in Chinese. Credit to the uncle, he asked the person recording to follow him to his parking spot, saying “I don’t want to argue”. The aggrieved recorder however was still upset, as he could not open his door due to how he parked. The uncle maintained a very calm attitude, maintaining his refusal to argue by coming to his spot. This caused a “bro moment”, as both parties were temporarily “steady” and agreeing not to argue. Alas, when they finally arrived to the lot, we found that the uncle indeed did not park properly as his Nissan Sentra was taking up two lots. The uncle did try to explain himself but the video cut off before he could complete it. However, I do think it’s not entirely his fault. We can see that the car had a shorter parking lot compared to others, and was between 2 trucks. It was likely an attempt to avoid being hit by either just in case, as he seems too civil about the accusation. Online Chatter A few people wanted to hear how the uncle would explain his way out of this one. And regardless of his reasons, people still noted he did not park properly. And if you’re in the wrong on the internet, prepare for the wave of criticism. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. Parking on double yellow? Someone thought some extra yellow would be helpful. What happened? A camcar submitted footage of someone approaching the car and supposedly peeing on it at night on 4th August. We see two people approaching the car in the video, while one of them goes off screen. If there was no context to this video we would never stick around to watch for more than 10 seconds. There is no concrete proof that someone peed on the car other than a still picture of some fluid on a bumper. I will say though, considering the two shown on camera weren’t carrying an umbrella, I doubt it was rain. So, SUS. Online chatter Quite a number of Facebook users noted how the camcar was parking illegally, as there were two yellow lines on the road in the video. Others also say the camcar deserved it for parking that way, and made jokes about the pee.

  6. One thing that annoys me is the inability to find an available lot in a carpark - but that's part and parcel of driving, right? However, what's worse is when you stumble upon an empty lot, and another car decides to be a d1ck and 'vultures' your parking lot away. Just like the couple of a Mercedes-Benz GLB200 here: What Happened? A Singapore-registered Mercedes-Benz GLB200 swooped to the front of the cam car and stole the parking lot that the cam car was waiting for. However, this whole act was only made possible by the 'chope culture' that inspired the actions of the Mercedes-Benz SUV's female passenger. While waiting for the Toyota to exit the parking lot, the female passenger of the Mercedes-Benz alighted from the SUV, simply stood around the parked Toyota and acted blur. As the Toyota sedan exited the lot, she stood in front of the cam car to block and 'chope' the empty lot for her Mercedes-Benz GLB200. The Mercedes-Benz SUV driver reversed almost immediately into the empty parking lot as soon as the Toyota left the lot. In response to the Mercedes driver's actions, the cam car driver repeatedly sounded his horn at the German SUV. And from the honking alone, I can easily sense the frustration and anger coming from the cam car driver. Netizens' Comments NGL, this GLB200 really asking for it by pulling this stunt in Malaysia. I mean why rage so much when there's an empty lot with a green indicator just up ahead (assuming if the carpark availability system is working fine)😐 eh don't give idea leh. Next thing you know, people are gonna use oversized tissue papers to 'chope' parking lots already. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. Last weekend, there was a story that went viral of a Jaguar XE driver causing a huge jam on the single-lane road just so he could snatch up the parallel parking lot, only leaving when the police were called on him. Watch the video for yourself below. The video mainly shows the dispute between the Jaguar XE and the Honda vehicle. The black Jaguar was jutting out of a parking lot along Cheong Chin Nam Road with a male driver in white pants standing beside the vehicle. Next to it was a black Honda Odyssey stationary in the middle of the street. From this particular video, it seemed as if the Jaguar XE driver was refusing to budge so as to secure the parallel parking lot, thereby causing a huge jam on the single-lane road. The owner of the Jaguar XE, presumably the male in the white pants, was yelled at by a woman wearing a black jumpsuit and a pink top. This has been confirmed to be the Honda driver. He has been branded as an entitled douchebag by many netizens, However, is there more to this story? The Jaguar XE driver’s account According to the Jaguar XE driver, he actually did not intend to park at that spot at all and had actually wrongly entered the parking lot. He also tried to reverse his car after the realization of his error. According to him, his car gear selector knob was stuck as well, making it necessary for him to restart the car multiple times. He accused the Honda driver of being aggressive towards him, oscillating between hurling vulgarities at him and “punching violently” on his car window and explained that he remained stationary so as to wait for the arrival of the police. He now claims to be fearful of his safety and reputation after the swarm of online comments that seemed to blame him for this incident. Revealing that the car actually belongs to his girlfriend, he claims to be worried that the videos would draw negative press to her. Is he telling the truth? Judging from the video, he seems to be appear pretty relaxed with one hand using his phone and after which with both hands in his pockets. According to healthline, one's posture can offer some insight as to what someone is currently thinking. And based on this article, leaning on something, like a car for example like how this man is doing, can often suggest boredom or disinterest. Generally, he seems to give off an arrogant, disinterested vibe as well. It seems as if he wasn't that anxious to get out of that spot after all. Netizen Comments According to the comments, there seems to be a lot of negative press surrounding him. Some Netizens don’t seem to buy his explanation either It seems as if the perception of him by the public is not exactly stellar. Personally, I feel like the Jaguar XE driver might just be trying to save his @$$. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 8. Have you guys ever found yourself in funny situations as a driver? Maybe you went up the curb by accident or perhaps you were going too fast and almost ran over a few birds. But I bet you can't beat this! A curious sight unfolded in the wee hours of the morning today in an unidentified location (anyone want to guess?) with police even coming down to check up on the scene--- a BlueSG car parked on a grassy slope! The scene in question. You can see our hardworking SPF at one corner: And we get a zoom-in as the driver goes past our main star, the one and only, BlueSG car! Seems like this driver was not the only one who noticed the odd scene. There was another screengrab from a separate bystander, seemingly a resident at one of the neighbouring public housing blocks, which provided more of an aerial view here: Wow. Just wow Why liddat harh? What was it doing there? Was the driver inebriated? Was his GPS not working? So many questions unanswered. So as always, I took to scouring the reliable comments section to look for (hilarious) explanations: ROFLMAO. Not BlueSG but BlurSG! Haha! Indeed, it would take a lot of carelessness to end up in such a place... Oh my my. That's a saucy, scandalous suggestion right there! Well, as once famously said: We think this is a much nicer way to say "bak chiu tak stamp". LOL. It seems like a few people agree with them too. Last, but not least, this netizen gave a quite simple answer that made us roar with laughter: Haha! That must be it, surely, confirm plus chop. *wipes away tears* After all, one of BlueSG's marketable points is the easy accessibility to many charging points around the island, no? A little humor never hurts in unusual situations like these! What happens next? We are assuming the police have taken over and will be doing their due investigations. After all, as funny as it seems, it is an offence to park on a grass verge in Singapore! Image taken from LTA website Such an act could lead to the offender being slapped with fines from $70 up to $110 for light vehicles, and for heavy vehicles, the penalties starting from $100 up to $150. Psst, by the way, where do you all think this place is? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 9. Whenever someone drives like a total d-bag, the first thought that comes to mind is, "Must be a car brand that starts with 'A', 'B' or 'M'." (Pretty sure you know which brands I am referring to) And it is not surprising why this occurs. Watch the following videos below: Incident #1 What Happened? The incident above occurred along Campbell Lane, where the cam car was approaching a vacant parking lot. However, as the cam car approached the vacant lot, a man clad in a black t-shirt and jeans stepped out to the front of the cam car to block his path. The man appeared to have done that to 'chope' the vacant lot for someone. Just then, a black Mercedes-Benz S320 swooped in towards the direction of the cam car and parked against the flow of traffic in the vacant lot. The cam car driver did not seem to have reacted during his encounter with the entitled black S320 driver. Incident #2 What Happened? In this separate incident that occurred at the carpark of Queen Street, a silver Mercedes-Benz S320 drove against the flow of traffic in an attempt to take a shortcut and 'steal' a parking lot from the cam car driver. Unlike the earlier incident, the cam car driver reacted to the entitled S320 driver by inching forward and cutting off the Mercedes-Benz. At 0:32 of the video, the cam car driver intentionally stopped alongside the entitled Mercedes driver - And this got me thinking, did the cam car driver scold or made any hand gesture towards the Mercedes-Benz driver? The bad rep of 'conti' car drivers Incidents like the above give 'conti' car drivers a bad reputation. And unfortunately, the public often remembers the bad rather than the good. Hence, it is self-evident why 'conti' drivers are stained with such a reputation, which will unlikely go away soon. Netizens' Comments Cam car #1 didn't react to the Mercedes and got called out for poor driving skills🥲 Cam car #2 reacted to the Mercedes and got bashed by netizens. Geez. True dat. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  10. After so many years pondering over the acronym, I have finally attain enlightenment! 😄 Opel Performance Center, nope. Off-Peak Car, well it is not entirely right Look at these 2 photos, anyone has a better answer? OPC = Only Park in Carpark Now, car owner happy, our government happy, and even the grass cutter is happy! Happy weekend fellow MCF members.
  11. The 'chope-ing' culture is prominent in Singapore and it is usually observed when dining out at coffee shops or hawker centres. And unfortunately, this toxic culture has been shaped to be part of the Singapore identity. Watch the product of our toxic culture unfold before your very eyes: What Happened? This incident occurred at an open-air carpark at Block 114 Geylang Lorong 3. Two 'ah-mas' stood in a vacant white parking lot to 'chope' in a supposedly crowded carpark. As a result, they prevented a mini-van from parking at the vacant lot, which indirectly obstructed the traffic flow in the carpark. The van driver then alights from his vehicle to film the elderly ladies' absurd actions. Due to the obstruction, vehicles started piling up behind the mini-van. Toxic and Self-Centered Lo and behold, a Chevrolet Sonic rolls up to the parking lot and parks head-first into the lot. The driver, an elderly man, presumably the spouse of either one of the elderly ladies, alights from the car and walks across the carpark. IMO, their act of 'chope-ing' a vacant white lot is nothing but a toxic and self-centred act. Just because they insisted on having that white lot, they wasted the precious time of many other motorists. Oh, well. And those two elderly ladies probably don't have a driving license either. I guess you won't know the woes of a driver if you aren't a driver🤷‍♂️ Ps. For those wondering why the van driver did not park in the other vacant lot beside it, the reason is that it is a season parking lot (red lot). Netizens' Comments Bopian, what to do? Time for them to buy this and 'chope' more lots in the future. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 12. Left Funan at around 4.04pm today and drove over to Queensway Shopping Centre. Exited Queensway shopping centre at around 6.20pm and was surprised by the parking charge of $8+. The above info was retrieved from my cashcard. Based on the following parking rate, should it be much lesser? If it was overcharged, how can I claim the difference from the shopping centre?
  13. If you have visited a hawker centre before. You will know that in Singapore, we have a "chope" culture. You can "reserve" your seating when you place your prized tissue paper and it will make known to the public that this seat is taken. Today we have this XMM which I am assuming is helping her boyfriend to "chope" a lot. But instead of using a parking cone to cordon the lot, she stands and reserves the lot herself. The lady driver was very polite to ask if she can take this lot. 🤣 Unfortunately, this is a very short clip. I do not know what the XMM replied. Anyway, folks I strongly do not recommend you to "chope" a parking lot. Our parking system is actually quite good. Don't take advantage of the car parks. If needed, just walk further abit. Anyway, you will need to clock 10,000 steps each day to deem you healthy. So yeah. Just walk.

  15. Back to the age-old question - Is it easier to park with or without cars around you? In the forum discussion above, many said that it is easier to park with cars around you. Well, I would think otherwise. Watch this clip and find out why: This incident happened at an open-air carpark, located at 877 Tampines Street 84. What happened? The Lalamove driver, who was driving a Renault SUV, was caught on cam reversing into a PARKED AND STATIONARY Perodua. Oh wells. I am guessing the Lalamove driver held onto the notion that parking with cars around you will be easier. After realising he hit the Perodua, the Lalamove driver did not bother to even alight and check on the damage to both cars. Instead, he scooted away and parked at a nearby lot. How did it happen? Honestly, I don't know how an incident like this can even happen. I mean, almost every modern car these days comes equipped with parking sensors and a reverse camera. I am assuming that the Lalamove driver: (1) was using his mobile phone while reversing, or (2) did not bother to check his side mirrors while reversing. It is almost impossible to commit a hit and run in this day and age, especially with every vehicle armed with a dashcam - You will be caught, and the police will find you. Netizens' comments Maybe HDB has to start installing poles, similar to those in driving schools. What a shame. Same. I was looking intently as he attempted to park the 2nd time. Exactly my point. Got so many types of cameras - Dashcam, HDB CCTVs, LTA CCTVs and Police surveillance cameras. How to siam all of them? Update: Both parties have privately settled this incident among themselves. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 16. So I recently passed my driver's license and have been parking in empty lots whenever I can (because it's easier for me). However, my friends have told me that they think it's much easier to park with cars on either side. I don't agree with them (mainly because I am scared that I will hit a car while reversing), but I do wonder if that is the case for most drivers. Is it true that it is easier to park with cars around and if so, what are some tips in doing it properly? 😓
  17. One driver at my estate has been tailgating cars and even motorcycles out of our carpark for the past one year, close to two. This is on a daily basis. I know, because we leave around the same time every day . He parks at the white lots so if Fatimah comes they won't be able to check. Though I believe the system should only have his entry and not exit records. I've already reported to HDB fyi. Would you report or let it slide? Can still close eye if motorcyclists exit by the gap or if you wanna tailgate your friend out if you visit their house, but at least buy season parking for your own carpark la.
  18. Earlier this morning, a photo of a BlueSG driver's unfortunate situation at Tampines was posted on Facebook. Judging from the caption, it seems like the driver tried to park the vehicle but ended up over-reversing onto the cement kerb. Even the electric charger was knocked down in the process as well. Netizens' reactions After seeing this post, netizens went to comment on their opinions of the driver's haphazard parking technique: What are your thoughts on this? Is a BlueSG car really that hard to handle, especially for beginner drivers?
  19. I was told outside vehicles cannot park at police station carpark even for making police report. Why ???
  20. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is going to test whether parking offences can be detected in real time using cameras mounted on vehicles. S'pore using camera mounted on vehicle driven by 1 person to spot parking offences Offences targeted include parking along double yellow lines, against traffic flow, and in lanes with a single continuous white line across a bi-directional road. The six-month trial's objective is to find out if using video analytics on a moving vehicle can identify and classify various types of parking offences, a URA spokesman said on March 18. The trial will start in the second half of 2021. At least 15 roadside car parks in areas such as Tanjong Pagar and Little India will be used for the trial. If successful, its deployment can cut manpower to seek out offenders. Only one person will be needed to drive a vehicle during enforcement operations. Such offences have to be verified physically. The technology is expected to work under all weather and lighting conditions. An enforcement vehicle will have a video camera, a licence plate recognition programme, and an artificial intelligence engine that processes video footage. AI will determines if a vehicle has been parked illegally. It can then classify the offence. It should also pick up heavy vehicles parked in spaces meant for cars. Tests will be conducted on weekdays between 8.30am and 6pm, as well as between 7.30pm and 10.30pm. The Straits Times reported that it understands that enforcement action will not be part of the trial.
  21. Since this is a car forum, can members here give a list of hotels that don’t give complimentary parking to hotel guests? I don’t usually do staycation in Singapore. My road trip travels to Malaysia has ALWAYS been given free parking. Due to travel restriction during covid, I’ve staycation a couple of local hotels. Felt disgusted by the lack of complimentary parking even after paying $300/night for the room.
  22. Parking Warden Allegedly Issues Summons For Illegally Park Funeral Vehicles Singapore might be a lawful nation, but there are times when exceptions are granted for parking summons during events such as funerals or religion processions. On Tuesday (5 Jan), a Facebook user complained about how a Certis parking warden was not being sensitive and compassionate when he allegedly issued summons to drivers attending a Jurong funeral. You can read the post in full here. In response to MS News queries, Certis clarified that no issued were summoned for the illegally-parked vehicles. Certis parking warden issues summon for funeral vehicles According to the post, the Certis enforcement officer had issued summons for funeral vehicles parked near the wake. This apparently happened despite the deceased’s family explaining that the undertakers had to park there to do their job. The warden later took pictures of the funeral vehicles. Officer allegedly issues summons for other vehicles too Vehicles belonging to other funeral attendees were also not spared. Despite the owners being in their respective cars, they were allegedly handed parking tickets. The user also claims that they were “not obstructing traffic in any way”. Though the netizen understands that the warden was doing his job, he felt that the officer could’ve been more compassionate and understanding, especially in this situation when a grieving family is involved. Security company says no summons were issued Responding to MS News queries, a Certis spokesperson said that the incident happened along Senja Road on Sunday (4 Jan). Contrary to the claims made in the post, the security company clarified that no parking summons were issued for the illegally-parked vehicles. The cars were later “removed” by the respective owners. Parking wardens have a difficult job on hand Maintaining the law yet being compassionate when it comes to such sensitive situations is a difficult task that our parking wardens must work with. We hope the issue in question will be settled amicably between all parties involved. source: https://mustsharenews.com/parking-warden-funeral-summons/
  23. Hi there, I bought a Honda Vezel couple of months ago and I am very happy with the car. I'm pretty comfortable with driving but my wife is still getting used to it. We find the parking spot in our building a bit tight and the rear parking camera only helps to a certain extent. Parallel parking especially during rush hour can be quite cumbersome so we thought a front camera would be helpful. For experienced drivers, this might not make sense, but for newer drivers it can add a ton of peace of mind (I think). My accessories dealer suggested a 360-degree surround camera to install in the car. I couldn't find any reputed brands online but wondering if any of you have experience with these? Do they actually work effectively? I've seen ATOTO, FSK, Weivision and CarThree but they seem to have mixed reviews. I know that the camera won't be as nice as a Honda factory installed one, but I am keen to explore. 24. It must have been quite humiliating for this particular Volkswagen Passat. Spotted on ROAD.sg's facebook page over the weekend are a few photos of a BlueSG car that needed to be returned but the driver found himself blocked out of the BlueSG parking lot by an irresponsible VW Passat. We guess the driver of the BlueSG vehicle must have been in a rush and realising that he had no other choice, decided to leave his BlueSG car in front the Passat before proceeding to charge his car. While netizens are all in support of the blueSG driver serving justice to the Passat owner, we feel that two wrongs won't make one right. What would you have done? Tell us in the comments below!
