Pamper and care for your car Although many car owners understand the need for timely vehicle maintenance and servicing, just as many also find the process troublesome. Shell AutoServ offers car owners the convenience of servicing their vehicle at a petrol kiosk near them. Receive expert car care and attention without the hassle of making separate trips to a traditional service centre. 5. Enjoy Shell’s new and improved V-Power at the price of Shell FuelSave98 this National Day! Available 4 August 10am to 13 August 2023 10pm. It's been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I tend to agree. Starting the day right with an enriching and enjoyable breakfast can instantly power up your 'engines' (your mind and body) to face the challenges that you'll encounter. The same can be said for your cars - quality fuel crafted with advanced technology helps to keep an engine running effectively and healthily. And from one driver to the other, I believe you'll agree with me on how a mechanically healthy and powerful car adds to the daily driving experience. Here are three reasons to try the new and improved Shell V-Power today! Shell V-Power cleans your engine 100% and keeps it that way Strive for 100% not only for yourself, but also for your car's performance with the new and improved Shell V-Power fuel. This new fuel is designed to remove 100% of performance-robbing deposits and prevents future build up on vital engine parts. It can clean your engine particularly well due to its formulation that contains three times more cleaning and protection molecules. All kinds of engines will benefit from Shell V-Power Enhanced with new generation deposit-targeting technology, Shell's latest V-Power formulation works in all kinds of cars. It will help all engines - old, new, hybrid, or performance types - to run more efficiently and perform at their best. By keeping your engine clean, Shell V-Power will allow it to operate like new, just as intended by the manufacturer. This means that you will be able to enjoy a powerful drive and the best fuel efficiency that your engine is able to achieve. Keep your engine running healthily with just a simple routine - opt for Shell V-Power Your car is not that different from you. Small wins, such as completing all your tasks on hand will give you a positive push to work towards greater things. Likewise, your car's performance can also be improved with a simple routine - the fuel that you use. By using Shell V-Power, your engine will get the best protection and stay clean, allowing it to always perform at its best. Keeping your car’s engine healthy by opting for Shell V-Power is much easier than trying to fix an engine in poor condition. Experience the difference for yourself While using the new and improved Shell V-Power, my car's engine felt perky and responsive. If you have been driving for some time, you should have experienced days when the car feels sluggish, and only more responsive on certain good days. With Shell V-Power in the tank, every day felt like a good day with great throttle response and a smooth-running engine. The enhanced driving experience was surely a mood-lifter. And knowing that my car's engine is going to be clean and well-protected puts me at ease. And Shell's wonderful V-Power formulation isn't the only way to boost your daily drive. Shell also has a range of car care products to bring your driving experience to 100% - not just the engine, but also your seats, windows, and air conditioners! 6. Good article by Mr Bean, and RADX please watch and please stop changing car so fast! Do your part as a living being! Thanks 😊
  7. I was told by the other branch of Shell that another Shell station at Yishun Ring Road (near Yishun Ave 5) is closing down and giving out vouchers for at least $30 petrol pumping. But those vouchers can only be used at 3 Shell stations. One @ Yishun Street 11 and another near SSC and followed by third place which I could not recall. So, those bros and sis staying in Yishun or sembawang might want to give it a try. It is till 25 March 2016. I will probably try next week.
  8. Hi, Would like to know how many will consider buying a EuroIV diesel car instead of the normal petrol car? The first consideration is of coz diesel car gives better mileage and maybe cheaper daily running cost. While car uses petrol is kind of rather standard on the cost of daily running. Your comments and thoughts plzzzzz...
  9. This Toyota Wish was treated better than I was when growing up. Watch the video to see why. What happened? At Gelang Patah R&R, a Toyota Wish was spotted being given some special treatment while refuelling. It was gently rocked by its driver and assisted by an attendant in a tender effort to quench the car’s thirst for fuel. I’m jealous. Why couldn’t my parents treat me this way? Looking at this did make me curious though. Does shaking the car do anything at all? Short answer: No. Nope. First, your car has a fixed capacity fuel tank (duh), if it is not fixed and can somehow fill up indefinitely, please contact us at [email protected]. However, the theory is that when filling up petrol there are air pockets that form during the process. This reduces the amount of petrol that one can pump into their car, wasting time and money. Think of it like a soft drink can, where there’s always air in the can so the can is never truly full. However, rocking isn’t the way to solve this. In CNA’s Talking Point episode 32, the director of Mister Garage, Vincent Emmanuel Lee debunked this myth, saying “When we pump the petrol into the tank, it creates foam and vapour (which) occupies the tank. When we wait for the vapour and foam to dissipate, that's when you can pump more petrol into the tank.” This makes shaking ineffective as everything is already at the top instead of within the liquid. Online chatter Back to our usual Facebook clownery, people made fun of the shaking and rightfully deemed it useless. However, some people took offense to the footage being recorded in the first place, saying the person who took the footage had nothing better to do as the driver did nothing illegal. Writer’s thoughts: I was treated very well as a kid I just needed to get your attention for this article lol. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 10. Just pumped at SPC and witness this scene. cashier called a customer back asking him exactly which pump he paid for. cashier said that another customer(2nd) says his is pump3, so is his really pump3? the 1st customer then said his is pump4 after looking at his car parked and some prompting from the cashier. He didn’t seem to sound that apologetic. Note that at this SPC there is only one single row of pumps and all the cars are facing the cashier, meaning there is no pump behind which is blocked. the cashier also mentioned that she did ask if his car was a black car (Vellfire) at pump3 and he said yes, before she did the transaction. His own car was a silver vezel at pump4. the other thing was that the bill at pump3 was $85 vs $180 at pump4. In the end the cashier corrected the payment voiding the earlier payment of $85 and then charging 1st customer $180. i mean if one pumps a full tank regularly, wouldn’t the huge difference have rung alarm bells in one’s head when it came to payment. if maybe the guy was an old man, he would have been blur, but this was someone probably in his late 30s to early 40s at most. Hard to believe he could be so blur. so was he out to cheat?
  11. TL;DR - The Mercedes driver was caught dabao-ing several (plastic) containers of Malaysia’s RON97 and smuggling them deep into his car boot. Inflation is real. Watch this 67-second clip of this driver who has no peripheral awareness, sneaking RON97 into his car. What happened? This SG-registered Mercedes driver was seen refilling RON97 into his plasticwares and tying them up in red plastic bags, slotting them right deep into his car boot. In case you didn’t know, one can only bring a controlled amount of petrol from Malaysia back to Singapore. And it has to be declared at the ICA. Failure to do so will result in a hefty sum, that is definitely not worth the risk. And the shame. Online Comments Desperate times call for desperate measures. Refill first, think later! Netizens were also speculating that his car is not even 3/4 filled in the first place. Which is also another crime in itself. Moral of the Story Don’t be a cheapskate lah… especially if you’re driving a luxury car. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 13. TL;DR - SG-registered BMW got called out for pumping cheap RON95 petrol in JB reserved for MY-registered vehicles only. We all love a good cheap thrill. But not as much as this BMW driver. Watch this 75-second video of him not giving a hoot even after being called out by the cam-car. What happened? A SG-registered BMW driver was seen pumping RON95 petrol in Malaysia, when it is strictly only meant for MY-registered vehicles. The way he strategically used his body to cover the petrol nozzle and bike rack to cover his car plate while fueling his BMW with the forbidden petrol, goes to show the number of times he has done this prior. When confronted by the cam-car, he still continued - clearly unbothered, unfazed, thriving~ Online Comments: Reactions to the BMW driver being called out were pretty mixed. Many felt that this practice was very exploitative, giving Singaporeans a bad name. On the other hand, some argued that Singaporeans who pump cheap petrol in Malaysia still do stimulate the economy in other ways, such as shopping/dining there. Moral of the Story... Please obey the rules of the country you're in to avoid being an Internet meme. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 14. Can anyone help me to calculate if it is worth to pump in Jb. Some ppl say worth, some say not worth. Staying at Pasir ris - about 26km into JB via woodlands. Usually I can pump 35Litre, go in at half tank and pump to brim. The cost of pumping in JB: - 35 x 2.76Rm = 97RM - Msia Toll - 20rm + 3Rm - SG Toll - SGD 1 Total convert to SGD is about $42 for 35 litres of Ron 97. In Singapore, SPC Ron 95 $2.29 x 35 litres = $80 - 15% = $68. So still have a saving of $26. Am I correct?
  15. I eat at the Pasir Panjang hawker centre often, and the petrol stations across the road are my go to places to fill up, so it gave me an interesting opportunity to see the process of the rebuilding of the SPC station along the main road. When they declared renovations and closure, with the distribution of vouchers, I figured it might just be a promotional thing to share vouchers, but I noted that the down time was almost three months, so something might be afoot and be of interest to MCF members.. This station has been here for a while, and retains the old colors and branding, so I guess the company decided to refresh the look. I was also keen to see if this station will be converted to a EV charging station too.. so stay tuned.. Firstly what it looked like before renovation: The rear view, courtesy of Google Maps And here we go! The work began in mid May.. Some mysterious tanks - for the fuel I guess? They don't look like EV related stuff Pouring of cement Almost there New cladding and signs Man at work
  16. There was an incident in Malaysia with a Mercedes E200 driver where he tried to stealthily steal RON-95 from a petrol kiosk in Malaysia. Don't believe it? Watch the video for yourself below Apparently, a Mercedes E200 driver was caught on camera attempting to keep his driver’s front door open to block the view of him pumping RON-95 petrol into his car. He had ignored the staff’s instruction to be patient and made a run for it after stealing about 13 litres of RON-95 petrol. Judging from the car plate, it appears to be a Singaporean registered vehicle as well. But what's the big deal? For those of you wondering, Singaporean registered vehicles are not allowed to purchase RON-95 fuel in Malaysia as the fuel prices there are heavily-subsidised. So essentially this Mercedes driver was just trying to be a 'cheapskate' by saving on fuel prices. What's more is that the Mercedes E200 is a highly expensive car, with retail prides starting from SG $271,888 for the E200 Avantgarde, rising to $280,888 for the E200 Exclusive and finally $290,888 for the E200 AMG Line. Only goes to prove that rich people can also be stingy as hell too. However, this phenomenon is apparently increasing in frequency after the reopening of the Malaysia-Singapore land border on the 1st of April. Numerous reports of Singaporeans refuelling with RON 95 petrol at Malaysian fuel stations sprung out on the first week alone! Seems like the Mercedes driver was not the only one who wanted to take advantage of the subsidy huh. Netizen Comments Netizens express their take on the incident above. It really seems like I'll have to agree with them. For one, if you can't afford to maintain such an expensive car, you shouldn't be owning one in the first place. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 17. Happened to come across this interesting video in YT. Enjoy.
  18. Which petrol station is giving coupon now? Latest update... Whatever brands or station. Please share guys.. Cheers!
  19. This is what happens when petrol prices are through the roof. A hilarious video of a driver pumping petrol in Malaysia has surfaced on Facebook. In the video, the driver of a black car was pumping petrol at a gas station. After filling his tank, the driver starts to drive away, failing to realise that the nozzle of the petrol dispenser is still tightly attached to his vehicle. This results in a rather embarrassing moment as the driver experiences some resistance – without knowing why. The driver’s attempts to leave the station with the nozzle attached almost uprooted the entire gas pump. The hose that connects the car to the gas pump eventually gives way and detaches from the machine, allowing the driver to finally drive off. SG petrol price hike The entire country recently observed a substantial price increase in petrol after the Ukraine crisis. On Monday morning, Shell raised its price of 95-octane fuel by eight cents to $3.06 per litre. Other companies soon followed, with Esso at $3.04, Caltex at $2.98, Sinopec at $2.95 and SPC at $2.87. With the prices of oil soaring in Asia to USD$130.50 a barrel, observers predict that the costs of 95-octane across other brands will hit $3 by the end of the month. A diagram by Petrol Watch Singapore’s Facebook page highlights the most recent petrol prices at the moment. Netizens’ reactions Posted with the caption ‘Fuel prices in Malaysia so cheap he want to take the whole thing home’, many netizens found themselves relating to the driver after the recent petrol price hike. Maybe he's trying to squeeze out those last few drops? 🤣 Some netizens called out the person filming the entire situation for not reminding the poor clueless driver. Other netizens suspect that the driver might have been trying to scam the station and avoid paying for the fuel. Nevertheless, with Malaysia reopening its borders on April 1, many local drivers are looking forward to getting to refuel their tanks for less (and possibly 'da bao' their own petrol pumps as well). ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 20. Source: https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/explainer-why-are-singapores-fuel-pump-prices-record-highs-and-what-does-it-mean-economy-1813266 Petrol and diesel prices in Singapore have hit record highs. Pump prices of petroleum and diesel in Singapore are now higher than ever in dollar terms, not adjusted for inflation On Feb 8, taxi operator ComfortDelGro announced that it is raising its fares due to inflation and rising fuel costs Crude oil prices are rising, but they have not reached the same record highs in 2008 or 2014 The disparity between crude oil and petroleum prices is because petrol costs depend on more than just the cost of crude oil Economists said higher energy costs could lead to sustained inflation that could affect economic growth SINGAPORE — Fuel prices at the pump have risen to their highest level on record in recent weeks, in the midst of an unabated hike in global crude oil prices due to a supply crunch and geopolitical turmoil in Europe. As of Monday (Feb 7), 92-octane petrol cost up to S$2.70 a litre, 95-octane petrol went for up to S$2.76 a litre, while 98-octane petrol surged past the S$3 barrier to reach up to S$3.25 a litre, based on figures by online price tracker Fuel Kaki, a project by the Consumers Association of Singapore. Diesel prices, too, have reached a new high. Each litre of diesel cost between S$2.26 at SPC and S$2.33 at Shell stations as of Feb 7. This means that fuel in Singapore now costs more than it ever did in terms of the quantum, not adjusted for inflation. The previous peak was in November last year when diesel was S$1.96 a litre, 92-octane was S$2.42, 95-octane was S$2.46 and 98-octane was S$2.97, official monthly data showed. On Tuesday (Feb 8), ComfortDelGro announced that it will raise its taxi flagdown fares across its entire fleet of taxis by 20 cents from March, due to rising fuel costs and inflation. The news comes as oil prices have climbed to the highest point last month since 2014, with the Brent benchmark for crude oil reaching as high as US$93 a barrel on Feb 7, before tapering down to US$92 a barrel the next day. Crude oil had hit US$110 a barrel in 2014. The oil rally came as part of a perfect storm of factors, including a prolonged underinvestment in the oil industry and lagging production that is slow to meet current demand, as well as geopolitical factors. There has also been a structural shift towards green energy investments at the expense of oil, gas and coal. Newsweek magazine reported last year, for instance, that regulators in Europe have aggressively shut coal plants. Some banned fracking (short for hydraulic fracturing, a method of getting oil or gas), while others have refused to invest in nuclear energy, putting Britain and the European Union at the mercy of renewable energy and natural gas, most of which comes from Russia. Should armed conflict break out between Ukraine and oil-producing Russia, which also supplies oil to Europe, the price of crude oil and its refined products such as petrol will undoubtedly rise, experts said. Mr Ravi Krishnaswamy, senior vice-president of energy and environment for the Asia Pacific at market research firm Frost and Sullivan, said: “Clearly, that scenario will rattle markets and could push the prices above US$100 per barrel, and perhaps even US$120.” WHY PETROL PUMPS DON’T MATCH OIL PRICES In any case, oil prices have yet to reach historic highs, such as during the oil price bubble in 2008 when each barrel of crude oil cost US$147. So what explains the record-high pump prices in Singapore? For one thing, the price of petroleum is affected not only by the per-barrel cost of crude oil, but other factors as well. The Covid-19 pandemic, shipping woes and supply chain issues, as well as the rising cost of non-oil raw materials has led to global inflationary pressures that affect costs across the board, including the cost to refine oil into petrol. Last October, the surging price of natural gas threatened to swallow the profits of oil refiners and force them to reduce fuel production, news agency Bloomberg reported. Oil refineries rely on the hydrogen from natural gas — methane, in particular — to eliminate sulphur during the diesel production process. Among other things, crude oil is also refined into jet fuel, which suffered from a drastic loss in demand when aviation was decimated during the Covid-19 pandemic. Producers then cut back on pumping oil, which also has an impact on raising the costs of petrol production. Distribution and marketing costs, which were affected by a diminishing workforce of fuel truck drivers in many parts of the world during Covid-19 shutdowns, also contributed to keeping pump prices high, experts said. And then, there are petrol taxes. In February, Singapore hiked petrol duties by 15 cents a litre for premium petrol and 10 cents a litre for intermediate petrol, as part of the Budget 2021 measures. This followed a petrol tax hike in 2015, when rates were raised by 20 cents for for premium petrol and 15 cents a litre for intermediate petrol. Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said last year that the increase in petrol taxes based on usage is meant to shape consumer behaviour towards a more efficient use of fuel or environmentally friendly alternatives. Altogether, crude oil costs make up around half of the retail cost of petrol, the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers estimated last year. Another reason why pump prices may not track closely with crude oil benchmarks is because petrol retailers base their prices decisions on the Mean of Platts Singapore (Mops) price, which is the price at which petrol retailers buy refined wholesale petrol from the refineries. In 2015, the Competition Commission of Singapore sought to find out the decision-making of petrol retailers following public feedback that listed petrol prices did not rise and fall with crude oil prices. Its report in 2017 concluded that “listed petrol prices do not reflect wholesale price movements completely and immediately”, often adjusting their prices in tandem with the Mops price for an average of eight days for price increases, and six days for price decreases. Mr Krishnaswamy said that some petrol retailers also have long-term contracts with refiners, and likewise between refiners and oil importers, which has an effect on this lag time as well. Integrated companies such as Shell, however, control the entire chain and thus have a different calculus. “There will be a lag effect, because the pump prices are not directly linked to crude prices, and they are determined independently by the companies, some of which are refiners and some are retailers,” he added. WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR The rise in petrol cost will impact vehicle users directly. Private transport prices, which are affected by petrol costs and vehicle prices, grew by 15.5 per cent last December, continuing a double-digit percentage point inflation that began in April 2021. But oil prices are also closely linked to business input costs, since much of the world’s commerce and trade depends on transportation and travel. This could also be passed on to consumers, experts said. Mr Song Seng Wun, an economist with CIMB bank, said that rising energy prices is one key reason why the prices of most things, across all categories of goods and services, are going up. “We’ve seen food prices go up recently, because it costs more to put food and drinks on your table. And all manner of other things, too, including construction, travel, manufacturing of products — they are all affected by higher energy prices,” Mr Song added Mr Krishnaswamy said that this is why Monetary Authority of Singapore is looking to counter rising inflation. Last month, the central bank unexpectedly calibrated its monetary policy to cater for inflation in an off-cycle move. The worry will be that a sustained rise in input costs, and thus prices, could ultimately dampen demand and affect economic growth, Mr Song said. This could set back the already fragile nature of post-pandemic economic recovery. If this is combined with rising unemployment, it could lead to an undesirable outcome known as stagflation, which is a dangerous combination of high inflation and unemployment, and a weak economy. Thankfully, given the tight labour market here and around the world, this does not appear to be the case today, Mr Krishnaswamy said. “I don’t see stagflation panning out in Singapore or globally, perhaps only in some markets where that can happen. That said, it is worth watching out for that in the medium term.”

  22. With the constant petrol hike that motorists have been experiencing over the years, petrol has become precious to us. It is to the extent that some of us even adapted and changed our driving habits to improve the fuel consumption of our vehicles. Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way. Watch this video to find out why: What Happened? This footage was filmed at a Caltex petrol station in Jurong West Ave 1, where a group of friends were supposedly refuelling at. However, instead of refuelling at the station, they seem to be using it as a venue for socialising. And no surprise, they weren't wearing their face masks. An individual from the group was filmed pointing the petrol nozzle towards his friend in a playful manner. Upon realising that he was being filmed, he giggles in embarrassment and bends down to pull his face mask up. Seconds later, he pointed the petrol nozzle towards his friend again. This time around, he gives it two squeezes, causing two streams of petrol to gush out and land on the ground. FYI, the price of Caltex's 95 is $2.64 per litre! That kid has must be loaded from doing all his food deliveries to be wasting petrol like that. In Another Clip The same group of friends were filmed with their motorcycles parked along a stretch of road. The same two individuals who were filmed previously were seen running in the middle of the road, with one of them chasing the other with a helmet in hand. There's simply no cure for stupidity! Netizens' Comments It sucks to have a friend like that. But you know what they say, "birds of a feather, flock together". Truth be told, social media will be the downfall of Gen Zs. Then the whole group can get the attention that they crave! ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
  23. Sometimes, people do things without thinking about the consequence of their actions. Ignorance is bliss, am I right? Until someone decides to take a video and post it on the internet for the world to see. Watch this video to find out how the internet is capable of f@*king you up when you least expect it to: What Happened? A group of people, who are presumably friends, were caught disposing petrol from a motorcycle just outside an Esso petrol station. The group can be seen lifting the motorcycle and tilting it to drain the petrol next to a grass patch. Their actions were filmed and posted by an individual from the group on his IG account and IG story. I guess it is a norm to document any interesting part of your daily life experience and upload it to social media in today's digital age. Everything is 'for the gram' these days. The Rationale Behind Their Actions With the surge in petrol prices in the recent months, it makes their actions seem absurd. The only possible, logical explanation for their action stems from the stupidity of the rider who pumped the wrong type of petrol. (Eg. Pumping of diesel fuel instead of 92 or 95.) Other than the above, it makes no sense to dispose of any unused petrol in the tank, especially in an undesignated area. Interestingly, one individual came forward to address this issue...in a horrible fashion. Instead of acknowledging the group's wrongdoing and making the appropriate amends, this individual decided to defend the group. If I told you to eat shit, will you? Come on, just spare several seconds to think rationally, and avoid any unnecessary trouble. Netizens' Comments It is highly likely that he did. Either forgot about SAF's 9th Core Value or haven't served yet... Please help to educate them🤐 ======== Receive a $10 PayNow transfer for every submission we publish on Facebook! 24. SPIED! MERCEDES-BENZ CLA SHEDS SOME CAMOhttps://www.motortrend.com/news/spied-mercedes-benz-cla-sheds-some-camo/ Just a few months ago, our spy photographers caught a next-generation CLA prototype out testing, possibly in AMG form. Now, the CLA has returned wearing a different grille and less camouflage. Though that earlier prototype appeared to wear Mercedes-AMG's Panamericana grille, this CLA sports a front end inspired by the CLS-Class. The camouflage obscures the shape of the headlights, but the LED accents look similar to those of its swoopy big brother. It's also safe to say the taillights have changed. Unless the camo is fooling us, the rear end looks more upright than before. Overall, the new model looks longer than its predecessor. A few interior shots reveal a more streamlined cabin. This prototype features one large screen that runs across the dashboard, replacing the two separate screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The circular vents take on a different look, and there is now a simpler array of buttons just below. Red contrast stitching and a flat-bottom steering wheel hint at AMG roots, but this car doesn't look like an AMG from the exterior. It's possible Mercedes will offer some sort of AMG interior package, or that this prototype is just a mixed bag of parts. According to Autocar, Mercedes has confirmed it will launch the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake next year. We don't know Mercedes' exact plans for the U.S. market, but the model will likely slot above the new A-Class with a sleeker coupe-like profile. The interiors of the A-Class and CLA should be very similar. The CLA could share engines and gearboxes with the A-Class. Our A-Class comes with a 2.0-liter turbo-four making 188 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. An AMG version of the A-Class is also very likely coming to the U.S., although it's unclear how much power it will make. Photo source: CarPix
