A most horrific way to die - to be eaten alive by a predator. This reminded me of the tragic death of Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend who were both attacked and eaten alive by Grizzlies some time ago. Imagine the mother's anguish and despair to listen to her daughter's gruesome death... Olga Moskalyova, 19, made three calls to her mother during the attack, which lasted more than an hour and also claimed the life of her stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov, the Daily Mail reports. The trained psychologist, who had been camping in a forest in the extreme east of Siberia, phoned for help after she saw the mother bear attack her stepfather, breaking his neck and crushing his skull. Tatiana Tsyganenkov initially thought her daughter was joking when she screamed: "Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it's such agony!" "Then I heard the real horror and pain in Olga's voice, and the sounds of the bear growling and chewing," Mrs Tsyganenkov said. But Mrs Tsyganenkov could only listen helplessly as her daughter described the attack, telling her the mother the bear had brought its three cubs to feed on her. The teenager made her final call about an hour after the first, telling her mother she loved her and no longer felt any pain before the phone cut out. Police arrived at the scene with Mr Tsyganenkov's brother half-an-hour later to find the mother bear still devouring her dead victims, who were buried this week, and hunters were sent to destroy the animals.

The defence ministry said Monday it will be issuing "about 8,000" of the sleek, touch-screen tablet computers - already wildly popular with the city-state's tech-savvy youth - to recruits from November. The ministry said it was also planning to issue the devices to other servicemen next year. The cheapest iPad2 device currently retails in Singapore for S$668. Defence chief Neo Kian Hong said adopting the iPad would allow the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to take advantage of the technological abilities of the city-state's youth. "By exploiting the use of popular and current information and communications technology, we are able to harness our advantage of today's technologically savvy servicemen," the Straits Times newspaper quoted him as saying. Troops can use the iPad's built-in camera to take photos and video clips in the field which can be uploaded to the SAF's online platform, LEARNet. Soldiers can use these photos and videos to carry out post-mission assessments, the newspaper said. Soldiers can send questions to their commanders through a live messaging system and group chat discussions can be held, it added. The SAF said it was working with private contractors to design apps - micro-programs tailor-made for mobile devices with a wide range of functions - for servicemen. Singapore maintains a conscript-based military and its armed forces are among the best-equipped in Asia. Every able-bodied male citizen and permanent resident aged 18 and above must undergo two years of military training.

Received too many calls from banks, insurance, pty agents, spas, slimming cntrs, even oversea calls trying to selling some crap. Sms is worse... painting jobs, aircon service, car sale, mostly from pty sale, etc etc etc and its getting worse. I like my number. so used to it. Should i change?

Lately I heard about VOIP (okay, mountain tortoise reporting here...) app on Android phone that allows calls, even video calls, to be made via WiFi connection. Any app to recommend? I tried SIPDroid and another one I can't remember, but I think there's some config to be done first. Make call, but did not get thru. How about international calls?

Last year I bought a made in Singapore phone which is designed for senior citizen or children from NTUC. Disappointed with the quality as few months after using, some of the keys became difficult to press/activate. And yesterday the charger became dead. I think made in China phone would have better quality than this.... :angry: Now I need to get a replacement phone for my mother. Appreciate if someone can advise where to buy phone which are: 1) Easy and simple to use 2) Big key pad 3) Big screen Thank you very much.

Dear all.... Anyone using this phone? If so, just wanna check, when doing "syncing", i.e. of a video approx 1.4GB, how long will it take? I tried, and its taking real long and I always stop its sync in order not to wait. Iphone transfer is faster in terms of video.. Any advise?

Sorry just needed to vent. I was thinking of getting an iphone and much as I didn't want to I had no choice as stocks at other operators were sold out. So I had no choice but to call them. I wanted to find out if they had stocks at Causeway Pt or AMKHub. Would u believe they said they can't divulge? I then asked if it was a marketing ploy so that queue's would form outside their shop before it opens and their audacious answer was YES. Unbelievable. So i told them to feedback that they have pissed one customer off who will NEVER, EVER subscribe to them EVER AGAIN. Thankfully I did not sign up for MIO or even their BB.

Hi all, want to get a new phone but in a dilemma what phone to get. Currently using Samsung Omnia 1. Find that pure touch screen phones not that great hence prefer something with keypad or slide out QWERTY keyboard. Some phones I had in mind 1. Motorola DEXT 2. Nokia N97 3. Nokia E72 4.
