  1. Hi, getting pretty annoyed by this for a while. Just wondering if others have similar experience? Do you ever have your phone ring, and when you pick it up, the other end hangs up instantly or after a short pause? Most of the time the calls are from un-disclosed number, but today I got 1 with a land line number. Hmm...
  2. Just wanted to vent my anger.... Very TL with this "orange" service provider, 1st offer me 10 over dollars bill rebate and then now 70 bucks handset upgrade. I have been paying at least 150 bucks every mth for my plan. Anyway, will be porting over to the "green" service provider. heard they offer quite good vouchers for renewal Any views on this guys??
  3. My phone got killed this morning after endless dropping from and squashing on the bed. So. Can anyone recommend a phone that has a physical keypad and a full touchscreen? Operationally defined: Physical keypad meaning real buttons, not on screen virtual keys - I find the latter not comparable to the former in terms of typing speed. Full touchscreen meaning the ability to tap anywhere on the screen at any point in time. An example of what would NOT be a full touchscreen phone would be Aino from SonyE. The touchscreen works only in music. many thanks!
  4. Hi, I bought my iPhone 3GS just 10 days ago and it was stolen lately at my work place. I am under my 2 yrs contract and this is a new line. I got it for $288. I like this phone alot and I called Singtel and they said I have no choice but to get a new phone without line at $1140. I understand it is my fault that I lost it and Singtel should not be liable. Are there any other ways I can get a new iPhone at a cheaper price cuz I still have my line (Singtel sent to me a new SIM card) but no phone now? I currently have 2 lines already...

  12. Whilst updating software of my nokia 7373 connectd to PC and it lost connection resulted software failure. Send my phone to Customer Care Centre and they told me this phone is obsolete and no software or tools to perform recovery of the dead phone. Nokia always encourage software/firmware updating to ensure phone stability and operation. Nokia after sales service sucks.

  16. anyone notice that recently, there are plenty of China phone flooding our market? Any members here got one any tried? I have a few friends who bot and using it currently and most feedback are positive, except for 1 where he complain that the audit jack spoiled after 2 months use... I saw one today at Yishun HP shop, think its the latest touch screen model. ontop of the usual dual sim card, TV, camera, WAP, memory storage slot for MicroSD. It even comes with GPS, GPRS WIFI and plenty of function and pre-installed software.. Selling only at $180. The design is similar to Omnia/Iphone but its slightly smaller when compare to my Omnia 2... dun look cheap, in fact, its more sleek than my Omnia 2.... any feedback on these phone?
  17. As per topic title, does anyone here know what is the latest regulation on this? Can a passenger use his or her mobile phone in air plane mode during a flight?
  18. Hi all, I am thinking to change to a touch screen phone. Am considering to buy Nokia 5800. Any bro/ sis using this phone? Any comments? Tks!
  19. My Singtel contract is up for renewal soon but I realised the range of Nokia phones available from Singtel with contract is very limited. So an idea comes to mind and will appreciate comments from folks here. I can't find any phones that I want from the current offerings from Singtel. So I was thinking of buying a phone anyway, since they are discounted, and then selling it away. I will then get my desired phone model from a shop w/o contract. I dont intend to trade in the newly bought phone from singtel to the shops because the trade in prices are pathetic. eg The retail price of a new Nokia 5800 w/o contract is ~$600. If I buy a new one from Singtel and sell it to a willing party at 10~15% discount....do you think anyone will take it? He gets a brand new phone and I get a price that is better than the trade in value. Or if you have a better idea...please share...thanks very much

  21. Hello guys, I'm gonna ORD in a month and my mum is rushing me to choose a phone as we currently have a mobile contract on hand. However after being in the army for two years and using non camera phone all this while I'm lost in the mobile market. I'll be leaving for further studies in three months time in Australia. My friend in aussie told me to get a phone with wifi and stuff for convinience sake. She also told me I don't really need a good phone as calls are rather expensive and the phone is just to remain contactable and emergencies. I'd like the phone to serve as a decent camera too. In that way I dont have to carry a camera with me all the time? So camera and having wifi would be nice. Oh and I think i prefer phones w keypad. Doesnt really matter with this one. Was looking at Samsung 8 mega pixel's cam phone at first but they dont have wifi and I really hate the interface for Samsung. So yeah Samsung's pretty out for me. HTC HD looks pretty cool. But i heard it cost 900 w plan. HTC Diamond 2 and Touch 2 are out in other countries and that friend said it might arrive in SG later on this year? So the price might drop and stuff? Issue with HTC is the price and on going new models.. Iphone's as usual. Application, I love the interface ( i have an itouch and friend's using a iphone) and it has a pretty decent cam though its only 2 mega. However every tom dick and harry's using it and the messaging can be a little messy (though i guess all touch screen's like that). and i heard another new gen for iphone will be coming out? Lastly Nokia. been using nokia for my life and still loving it. however all my peers have left for other brands thus leaving me alone. been looking at N86 8M N96 N85 and E66. Been told N95 8G is laggy, E66's just a tweak of E61 and I dont really know much of others. N86 and N96 looks pretty the same. Can someone guide me over Nokia phones? Currently I'm thinking of either the iPhone and N86 8M. Any comments? Thanks.
  22. Wondering if it is worth it to switch from Singtel. Any users care to comment on the free home phone line promotion from Starhub? Problems, cost etc. http://freehomeline.starhub.com/dv/start
  23. hey guys, i'm doing a proj on online gaming/gambling and that includes telephones and pagers... do you have any idea or heard from any friends about gambling using the phone or "pager" as a medium? eg. with bookies, you may get smses from the bookies to give the odds, and you can call them to place your bets but you'll still have to meet a runner to get the $ or pay the $. or illegal horsebetting where some use the old style pager to get odds and news about the horses. can anyone provide me more information, you don't necessarily have to have done it before, but i just need good information on how it works. like... how the information comes through, how the odds are communicated to the bettor, how the bets are placed, how the $ is exchanged? thanks a lot!!!
