  7. Click on link for more info & Pics. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/17/2008-to...erimental-spec/ One of the other concepts that graced Mugen's stand in Japan at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon was the Civic Type-RR, which in addition to the obvious replacement of the entire front clip with carbon fiber pieces, also includes a K20A engine that's been bored out to 2157 cc to create a more tractable powerband and an even higher redline. 260 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque is sent to the six-speed gearbox and down to the front wheels through a LSD. Naturally, the brakes and suspension have been upgraded to handle the extra grunt, while carbon fiber was used inside to beef up the structure. Mugen also added a system dubbed I-TCMS, or Intellligent Tire Condition Monitoring, which keeps tabs on the tire's air pressure and temperature. The dash mounted instrument cluster might be a big impediment to forward visibility, but we're sure it's nothing compared to the price.
  8. This car sure looks fierce and futuristic! More pics can be found here: http://seriouswheels.com/cars/2008/top-200...rai-Concept.htm

  11. Hi folks. After a lengthy wait, I finally got my greasy hands on a N95 8GB prototype. It's a "build-4" version. There will be one more "build-5" version before the final CE is released, so it's pretty near to what you'll get in the shops. The N95 8GB is nearly identical to the regular N95 except for a few things: 1) Bigger screen 2) 8GB built-in memory 3) Revised user interface 4) No more slider to turn on the camera 5) AGPS (Assisted GPS) which basically means the GPS is faster 6) It's black Here's an all round view of the phone: Front view Back view Left side view Right side view Top view Bottom view Here are a few pics of the N95 and the N95 8GB side by side. In real life, the N95 8GB is actually very slightly smaller than the N95. Weight is almost identical (128g vs 124g). As the hardware/software is almost identical, I won't go through the functions/protocols of the phone as everyone would already know them well by now. I'll just point out a few things that I feel are the biggest differences between the 2 devices. 1) Build quality - the N95 8GB seems to be a lot better built than the N95. It's like the difference between the interior fittings of a Hyundai accent and a Mercedes E class. All the keys now feel very well damped. They are very pleasant to press on and gives you a feeling of "expensiveness". My prototype I received is a well-used one from Europe. When I got it, it still had many pictures of the previous owner which were mostly of his ski trip in Sweden, so I know it's been properly used. It still feels tight. The wobbly feeling which is typical of a used N95 is absent. When you press on the keys, it's tight and has no unnecessary movement. 2) The screen - it's noticeably larger and is more pleasant to look at. Brightness and resolution are better too. It's supposed to have a better graphics processor, as expected of the new screen. 3) User-interface - a few things are different. Instead of 6 active standby icons, the N95 8GB can now squeeze one more icon across the screen, making it 7 active standby icons in total. The search function is permanently active on the desktop. At first it irritated me, but I soon realised that it's fantastic. It's extremely easy to look for stuff now, necessary when you have 8GB of memory at your disposal. It works similarly to the "Finder" of Apple's Tiger interface. I love it! 4) It plays N-gage format games. My set came loaded with a few demo N-gage games and although I'm not a gamer, they felt fantastic to play. The graphics are seriously nice. Here are a couple of pictures I took of the screen with just my digital camera. You can imagine how good it looks in real life! 5) No more tacky BLUE lights! They are now cool white, which I feel look so much better. 6) No more customisable multi-media menu. BOO! In the N95, the multi-media menu is fully customisable. You can add any application to it and select the application you want by just rotating around the menu. No more. Press the muti-media menu key on the N95 8GB and all you'll see is this: You cannot add anything to it, which I find to be quite pointless in having the menu now. In the multi-media menu, the sub menus include "Gallery", "Music", Videos", "Games", "Contacts", "Internet" and "Maps". Within these sun menus are convenient shortcuts which are good for the specific application. This is all well and good for those particular applications that are included. But what if I want to include "Bluetooth" or "Clock" or "Converter" or whatever else I want in this menu that I find I use all the time? There's no way to to do it. A big step backwards in my opinion. 7) The slider that turns on/off the camera is gone. Some people might protest, but I really don't miss it at all. The camera in the N95 always gets accidentally turned on but in the N95 8GB, this won't happen anymore. To turn on the camera, simply do a long press on the shutter button. Simple, effective and not prone to accidental activation. 8) The battery is of a higher rating. Although mine came with a N95 battery (BL-5F), the production N95 8GB will come with a better 1200mA BL-6F battery. Hopefully, this will help in providing better battery life than the N95. 9) No more memory card slot. No big deal as you plenty built-in. After 6 hours of use, that's all I can think of. Generally speaking, it's a nicer device to use. Whether it's worth upgrading to from a N95, it really depends on what's important to you. If you value a more refined user interface, much more memory, bigger screen real estate, faster GPS and probably better battery life, go for it. Functionally they are virtually the same. There's nothing you can't do with a N95 that the N95 8GB can, except of course carry a huge amount of data. I'll update again if I have any additional thoughts.

  14. It's me again. Did another photoshoot yesterday, this time with more exciting cars. The photoshoot went on very smoothly, only when unforseen circumstances surfaced which spoilt our mood. And also becasuse of that, i will not post the pics taken at that forsaken place. The red evo 9 and exige went off after the forsaken place shoot, what a pity.. But overall, i would consider it to be successful and enjoyable! What a glorious day.
  15. Take a look at how creative people can get. By copying the design of a Ferrari 360 and putting it into a Peugeot 406. Very hard to notice the difference. Before Conversion After Conversion Red is the original Ferrari 360 Yellow is Replica Ferrari 360(Peugeot 406)

  19. so i come back after watching F1 at my parents' just down the street from my own place (yay kimi!), only to find that there's no lots in the newly built carpark extension at my block in clementi oh wait, there IS one, or rather 65% of it my wife gets out with the baby then i slowly navigate my tiny march along this huge thing. i myself had trouble getting my elder boy out from my side of the car (my apologies to the car on my driver side, for being so close) but i'm sure the driver of that huge thing has a good excuse for taking 2 lots. sorry in advance for making u enter from ur passenger side 2moro, but um, i sorta had no choice
  20. STOMPers Tammy and Linus are offering $3,000 to the person who can find two SD cards storing all the shots taken on their wedding day on 12 Oct. The cards were lost after their drunk bridal photographer was thrown out of a cab for vomiting in his vehicle. The taxi driver drove off, with photographer's equipment and the SD cards in the back seat. In an email to STOMP today (19 Oct), Tammy said: "Linus and I have lost all of our actual day wedding photographs. "Our photographer, who was engaged by the bridal studio, boarded a Comfort (Blue) or Smart (Green) taxi in Middle Road in front of the InterContinental Hotel at about 2am on 13th October, early Saturday morning. "Midway through the journey, the taxi driver stopped his car near Furama Riverfront and chased the photographer out of the taxi because he had thrown up in the cab. "The driver sped off in his taxi with the photographer's equipment and our wedding memories stored in the two SD cards in the back seat." The STOMPers have been checking with Comfort Cabs and Smart Cabs while the bridal studio has placed advertisements in the newspapers pleading for the return of the two SD cards. "We are not interested in the cameras...all we ask for is the return of the two SD cards containing our wedding photographs. "$3,000 will be awarded to the person who returns our two SD cards, no questions asked," Tammy said. Anyone with finds the cards can drop them at: 85, Tanjong Pagar Road, Singapore 088506 (Tel: 9423 2445/6323 7228) or InterContinental Hotel, 80, Middle Road, Singapore 188966. You can also contact STOMP via SMS at 75557 or email us at [email protected] I doubt the photographer's story, what you guys think?
  21. Hi folks. Seeing that my original Garmin Nuvi 610 thread has gone on for so long that I've already gotten a new car, here's a new one on the install of the same set on my new car. Actually I've been wanting to hardwire my Nuvi to my new car for quite some time already, but never did find the time to do so. Today at 7+am, while I was deep in dream land, I heard "kok kok kok kok". I got yanked away from dream land and woke up to see my clothes rack rocking from side to side. It actually took quite a while to register that I was experiencing an earthquake! It was freaking scary to see my whole room shaking from side to side pretty violently. I quickly got dressed and rushed downstairs just in case my building collapsed on me. Everyone had the same thoughts as me and was downstairs in the open too. Walked to my car, noticed cat hair all over my hood. Damn, should've brought down my lint remover. After 15 mins, the shaking seems to have stopped and I went back upstairs to check if there were any cracks on my walls. Nada. So early in the morning with not much to, so I thought to myself "I think I can do my GPS today..." So the earthquake caused my GPS to be hardwired... Here goes: Views of the Nuvi with the swivel mount attached: I used to use the suction mount, but in our tropical weather, it keeps falling off, so I bought a friction mount instead: In order to retain the power cable in it's original state (without cutting and modification), I got a male to female cigarette lighter adaptor. The power/charging cable. Soldering wires to the male-female adaptor Soldered Getting ready for surgery Surgery begins Fused Grounded Making sure the length of the cable is just right Tidying up the wires Reassembling the plastic bits I took the opportunity to shift my ERP unit downwards as the original position was very distracting being quite high up on the windscreen And it's done! I did it at Chuan Hifi at the junction of Upper Serangoon Road and Braddell Road. Total cost is $25. Total time taken is 1 hour. Fantastic! .
