  1. Bros & Sis, I was travelling on lane 1 near the above location keeping a safe distance behind the car infront. All of a sudden, a silver or white Honda Odyssey overtook me on lane two and abruptly swerved into my lane (lane one) when he was barely half a car length in front. I jammed brake and took evasive action but this fella hit my left front tyre body area. I horned him but he sped off swerving in and out of traffic. If any forumers witnessed the incident, pls help me. My car is a silver Focus. Any advice what to do? Thanks, bros & sis.
  2. Hey guys, Itchy hands again and installed oil temp, oil pressure and intake manifold defi guages on my IS200 today. Thought intake manifold is essentially a vacuum guage, but the reading is so different. Any idea how to read it? What's the ideal oil pressure on my ride when idle and when revving it? Thanks for your help.
  3. My rims shows 7JJx17 [inline P1060004.JPG] [inline P1060001.JPG] [inline P1060003.JPG][inline P1060002.JPG] How come the ruler shows like it is nearly 8in? Where is the measurement for width usually taken? thanks
  4. i got a vacumm gauge installed in my car, it used to read around 20 during idling. recently it read lower, about slightly lower than 15 (nearer to 0, on the right). and also, it used to be very sensitive, ie, i blip the trottle it will go down n up very fast, now it seem to be very slow.. like stuck/ lagging? when i blip the trottle its not seem to be responding, must Rev then it respond.. anyone knows whats happening?

  6. Hi all, Normally, I would do some investigative work on aftermarket products before sinking in my hard-earned money. At an unnamed workshop, the benefits of Broquet was greatly exalted and after muuch persuasion, I decided to take the plunge and opted for the TopFueller 60 for my petite 1.5 CC MPV. My inquisitive nature prompted me to do some research on the web and to my horror, I discovered that there was a fair number of negative comments about it on the local car forums and I narrowed down to two UK reports which pretty much damned the product. I printed the reports and headed down to the workshop, demanding a refund and the dismantlement of the product. I was asked to wait for the Broquet folks to come down to debate on the findings of the reports. Instead, two guys came swaggering by; they did not even read through the reports/simply glanced thru it, dismissed them casually and stated that they have been around for 10 years. They even dared me to publish the reports in the forums. I was taken aback by their attitude - it's really sad to see such behaviour. Well, I am one who never backs down from a challenge and this challenge will help many to make a wise decision before spending their hard-earned money on such products. For those who are getting benefits from broquet, good for you. For those who are thinking of getting one, think twice/thrice!!!! Have a good day to all. a) "OK at last something scientific. Well from a scientist any way. Yesterday I was fortunate to attend a seminar on oils and fuel additives in motorsport, at Fuchs headquarters in Stoke on Trent. Fuchs are a 800,000,000 GBP turnover company and are the owners of Silkolene. Amongst the guests were Ralliart, R.E.D., B.R.T. and many of the top competition preparation companies in the UK. The main speaker was John Rowland. John is Chief R&D Chemist for Fuchs and one of the leading petrochemical chemists in the UK. During the day, we discussed how octane enhancers work. I asked John Rowland if he had heard of Broquet. Indeed he had and he had met Henry Broquet some years ago. I asked if he had tested the product and if the product worked. He replied that the laws of chemistry would not allow tins pellets to modify the atomic structure of either iso-octanes or heptanes (the constituants of petroleum) in any way, shape or form. Nor will any tin be dissolved into the fuel. He added that using a tin pellet "catalyst" will not reduce emmissions, will not improve mpg, will not reduce detonation and will not reduce valve seat recession. During the day we were handed various leaflets which discussed commercially available oil and fuel additives. These fell into 4 categorises. 1) Useful 2) Harmless, but totally useless 3) Midly harmful, but totally useless 4) Harmful, but totally useless In John Rowlands opinion, Tin pellets fall into category 2, along with fuel line magnets." b) In of specific products, the Broquet device was tested in 1994 by the UK consumer group which They ran three different cars at three different test speeds on a rolling road - as standard, with the Broquet fitted, and with it removed again. (This is not quite as satisfactory as "proper" cycle-based rolling road tests, but far better than uncontrolled on-road measurements.) The results were as follows: Citroen AX 1.1 Speed (mph) MPG std MPG with Broquet MPG back to std 30 69 70 71 50 54 56 56 70 40 40 41 Rover 620i Speed (mph) MPG std MPG with Broquet MPG back to std 30 49 52 53 50 41 42 43 70 32 33 33 Mitsubishi Galant 1.8 Speed (mph) MPG std MPG with Broquet MPG back to std 30 55 57 58 50 46 46 47 70 35 35 34 It can be seen that the improvements after fitting the Broquet are extremely small, and in most cases the benefit remains after the device has been removed. Which? believed that this was because the cars were relatively new and still running-in - economy is therefore improving as the engine friction reduces. If the improvement were really due to the Broquet, the economy should have returned to "baseline" after it was removed. Broquet's response to this was that the tests were "unrepresentative" as they had used "modern petrol-engined cars". But remember that these cars were built in 1993, and so today would be classed as 11 years old - yet nowhere on Broquet's web site does it state that small (or zero) economy gain would be expected on post-1992 vehicles. Interestingly, certain makers of both catalyst and magnet -based fuel "saving" devices claim that they were used by the RAF during World War 2. Amazing that the British armed forces should have found not one, but two, miraculous fuel-saving devices; even more amazing that they have apparently now "lost" both of them. (Since getting fuel to the front line is a major logistical problem, the armed forces are more interested in fuel consumption than you might think.) A sceptic might wonder how much truth there is in either claim.

  8. Folks, this is what I gathered and wanna share with you folks especially on Focal, I understand from respectable forums that all Focal dealers had to go on special training courses so that they can understand the correct way of installing the speakers in different configurations. I also understand that Focal will not allow dealers whom haven't been on their course to buy and install especially the Be (Beryllium) range. The authorised dealers are also given a tour of the factory so that they can see exactly how the Be domes are formed. Have your installer gone for the course?
  9. The Nissan Sunny leather seats are not 100% leather. It is 1/2 leather, meaning only those places where your body has contact with are genuine leather (the bum and backrest area). Th rest of the seats (sides and back) are actually PVC (otherwise called synthetic leather). The PVC looks and feels exactly like leather, but if you press your fingers against the PVC, the surrounding area is smooth, no ceases. When you press your fingers against genuine leather, you see ceases in the surrounding area round your finger. Realised this only when I sat in my friend's 1 month old Sunny today. My friend was shocked too. He said Tan Chong's SE told him the car seats are "leather", but neveer mentioned anything that it is actually 1/2 leather. Pick up OK, but had to rev to at least 3,000 rpm esp in 1st 2 gears to get adequate pick up (auto). Engine relatively quiet.
  10. Basically, it's saying that 5w40 is better than most 15w40 due to it's better base stock(PAO or group III). The key point in oxidation stability of engine oil is a harmonisation of additives package with actual base oil and to make a good base oil you need either a synthetic base stock or Chevron's dino base stock(group II or II+). http://www.oetg.at/website/wtc2001cd/html/...8-614-CERNY.pdf The important of base stock. http://www.imakenews.com/lng/e_article0005...m?x=b2MLSgq,0,w
  11. copy the below from SHC ... specailly for those who travel to Malaysia a lot .. Hi one and all, My personal experience. I went up to KL 2 weekends ago and on the way up was pulled over by police for what else but speeding. Was given a "choice" and I paid RM50. Today I checked on the AXS Station, I found out that I have been issued with the summon which was not supposed to be issued after immediate payment. RM110. So, the next time I'm pulled over, I'll take the ticket and let those mxther fxxkers rot... I rather pay to the government then to those sons of fathers without axxxxxes! So, if you are wondering what you should do if you are pulled over the next time, just remember this posting! Do spread this message around. Ah Goo Singapore Galant Club PS: Pls pardon my language. Bro, My friends encountered the some things as you too. He was on his way back from KL and was stop by the police block at Jesin. He give kopi money to the police and yet he was check for summons. 2 summons some more. Those are really a fcking piece of sheat! Well, this is a very good piece of advise to all our forums member here who travel to M'sia regularly. remember, don't choose the kopi money option. Ask for a ticket and let those axxxxxe rot. anyway, we can pay those fine in S'pore easily. Cheers.
  12. This is a 1999 Mitsubishi TH Magna. Much like mine, same paint colour and similar wheels. Current owner purchased it last year, but it looked like the previous owner had very much neglected it. Paint cracking all over and bird sh*t etching, trim also cracked, boot lid had lots of vertical scratches as if boxes were put on top and dragged off. Current owner had never waxed it. After first wash, water clung to paint surfaces and did not bead or even sheet off at all. Squeak test indicated no protection evident. Total disaster. Was completely unable to repair bird sh*t etching and cracked paint. Filled up with touch-up paint and wetsanded with 2000grit on cracked areas. Those areas are still obvious, and will require a few more applications to level the paint surface. Process: Wash Clay (Meg's overspray clay w/ #34) Wash #2 SSR 2.5 w/ cutting pad SSR 2.5 w/ polishing pad #21 w/ polishing pad Z8 (more on this later) PB Trim Restorer - Needs many more applications of this so I gave the owner a small bottle of it and instructed him to apply after each wash. Also showed him the 2-bucket method with mitts and MFs. AIO/SG on the wheels AG Glass Polish on windscreen EO Wet Tyre Shine on tyres On to the pics! Starting with the bootlid ... More of the same on the roof. Hood after wash and clay and wash again. Hood after 1st pass of SSR2.5 w/ cutting pad. Close-up hood shot after full process. Hood shot again. Full car shot. Part of hood just over the grille is etched. Grille is also cracked. Also, front bumper full of deep swirls which I did not attempt to polish out because it's painted plastic. Test of ScratchX showed limited improvement. Full shot from the side. Roof shot. C-pillar. A wheel. Same as mine except it's silver. I have proper wheel nuts, though. 2 Magnas. Detail took 4 hours. Forgot to take pic of clay, but wow was it dirty. Owner and his friend tried the clay for themselves and seemed to be quite impressed, but they kept calling it putty and blu-tack. #21 is very slick and reflective with nice depth. Z8 made the finish a touch deeper. Nice, let's hope it lasts.

  19. it was about 12:45pm and towards direction of eunos from hougang, im was on a cab. it was before comfort driving centre, when from the corner of my eye, i saw something dart )out and this INSANE spacewagon GLXi (blue/white) suddenly cut into the lane of the cabby at a sharp angle at rather high speed (i was the front side passenger and the distance between them was really short, at most 10cm) cabby braked. we didnt even managed to catch a glimpse of the driver and he commented he got a shock. If the cabby didnt give way, sure hit, Then the cabby gave chase, cant even really catch up until she was blocked by traffic conditions and from behind we saw her crazy antics, (the road infront of comfort driving centre and kah motors, the jam is terrible ya know): saddling 2 lanes, couldnt decide which lane to take and moving back. and cutting from left lane to the first lane in one go all without signalling happened lots of times In short, reckless, lack of sound judgement and stupid. Felt angry and disgusted at this kinda behaviour. So bloody irresponsible, what if she causes an accident? But now looking back, she might have an emergency? You'll never know. But still thats not reason enough to drive recklessly.
  20. Hello everyone, How we know whether the Air/Fuel meter is reading properly? Anybody can shine some light on this topic? With the meter with 3 ranges i.e. "lean"; "Stoich" & "rich", during stopping which range it should be? when accel. which range it should fall in(depend on the RPM)? Thank you
