  1. Hi, Can anybody advise me what engine oil does SA replace for the 5K service? And how much does the service cost?
  2. Greetings to all here at MCF! I frequent quite a number of local car forums and not one of them lack a anti-toyota SE thread. Just sharing my experience with them with you guys... which was surprizingly very very different from the things I hear: The moment I step in(UBI), the SEs tries to make eye contact and trying to move in liao... I had to look away and quickly walk away to avoid being pestered... Just wanted to look at the cars 1st. In contary to what most people would complain about having problems just to get a SE's attention. It was a Sunday too. Alas was served by a very nice gentlemen that was very courteous, polite and helpful. Very humble with his words too. Threw in nice discounts and offers too. No checkbook or dress code prejudices. Do not know if this improvement of service is due to public feedbacks or really I was just plain lucky to get a good SE but I hope you guys do not condem the cars just because of some snobbish SE. In case you people are wondering... I'm below 25 and I wear tshirt and jeans. Cheers!
  3. Where got car wash with vacuum service? No time to go JB! Help Help ...
  4. Anyone knows where to get Octy's service manual as to what to check/change for different intervals of mileage? As I bought mine on resale, only car manual available but not service manual. As I've reached 50k, just wanted to have some information on this service interval. Heard from Servo previously that auto-transmission oil only changed at 60k? I have mine changed at 30k though
  5. Hello, I'm looking for a good polishing service for my ultra careful father-in-law. Wonder if anyone got a good and reliable recommendation? Synthetic wax (like Zaino) or Natural Carnuaba Wax Zymol is fine.
  6. have used up all my free servicing from the authorised dealer, so now m thinking of doing servicing using outside workshop. eg. CAS, STAR, SPC, Stamford Tyres, etc. Anyone care to comment or recommend good workshop (those small private entity also can)? My ride is a Toyota Corolla (2003) 1.5M Thks!

  8. What do you think of Toyota's sales service? I heard that the service there really ...they don't approach you and you have to approach them instead for questions. But yet I see so many Toyota cars on the road...
  9. Hi guys, Hows it going man?? My dad's s80 is under going some wierd technical phase. EMISSION SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED keeps appearing and dissapearing. Switching the engine off and back on, and it dissapears and appears again sometimes. Basically, i just serviced the car not more than a mth ago and this problem arises! And i dont wanna go to SM motors and get sucked dry over some stupid software upgrade which might cost me half a grand if you guys know what i mean. HELP ME!!! CheerS!!!

  12. Hi, Just send my car for 20,000km servicing and the bill amount was whopping $200 for using synthetic oil........Just normal servicing, somemore need to wait whole day [send in the morning and collect late evening]. A bit disappointed and not happy with the service..... My friend was driving a Japanese car and nearly 2 years......Heard from him that his authorised agent charge him service feees consistently, less than $100 with mineral oil. If not wrong, he send his car to the agent for servicing 4-5 times already...... Workshop charges can be $60 ~ $100 depending on the type of synthetic oil inclusive of normal plugs too!! the charges will be less than $60 if use mineral oil........ With the significant price different charge by different party, I wonder is there any special service performed on my car??? I DOUBT SO! Then, is there any gov party that protect car customers????? So many confusion!!!!
  13. My sis drives an Elegance Octavia. A few weeks ago, they sent in their Octavia to Czech Auto for the regular servicing and here's what went wrong: Got a call from Sammo (sp?) and was told that their car met with an accident whilst in the hands of Czech Auto. Upon further probing, my sis was told that the car's windscreen was smashed up. Sammo said that the windscreen was probably hit by a pebble whilst it was being tested. My sis asked the guy who test drove the car after servicing and he said that the car was still in perfect condition when he returned it. Ok. So the windscreen was damaged, Sammo had the cheek to ask my Sis to help him by claiming the damaged under her motor insurance. My sister relented thinking that it would be faster to get the car back as they said that it would take two days to get the windscreen replaced, plus there's no future impact on her insurance premiums. So she agreed and asked for a courtesy car, but they kept on telling her that they were not able to provide her a courtesy car. After much arguing and table banging, they agreed to loan her a van. Gosh! My sister had no choice so she took the van. Two days passed and she got the car back. It drove normal for about one and a half days and then a grinding sound could be heard from the front portion of the car. They again sent it in to Czech Auto and they diagnosed the problem as the wheel bearing being faulty/worn out (1 side). Flabbergasted and fuming, my sister asked that they bear the cost of replacing the faulty bearing. Of course they claimed that it was her fault that the bearing was faulty. They were not even able to tell her upfront how much it would cost for the wheel bearing to be replaced. She had to wait till after several hours before she could find out the cost. I guess it was a tactic to let her cool down first. Anyway, several hours later, they came back to her and quoted her $1,600 for replacing the wheel bearing. And as a gesture of goodwill, they'd bear half the cost and my sister would have to pay the other half. Fuming, my sister took her car to Servotronics, and was told that Czech Auto made a wrong diagnostic; the faulty bearing was on the other side of the car as the one said by Czech Auto. It took about 200 bucks to fix it plus they were able to fix a faulty door lockset which has been faulty for many months, waiting for spare parts arrival at Czech Auto. So be forewarned... Czech Auto the slackers. Please contact me if you want to know more details as to what happened plus perhaps see the tears that were shed. We'll write-off Czech Auto in our list of things existent in this world.
  14. Hi, Just wanted to share my satisfaction with the service I got from Servo today..have heard that their service is good and I feel the same way after my first visit there to rep my battery. My alarm system goes auto lock when the battery is replaced and keys are agonisingly inside...Philip the boss (whom replaced the battery for me) offered me his own car for me to drive back home and take my spare key after few attempts to try opening fails. Very few workshop will offer you this and I am really pleased. This visit got my thumbs up and I'm sure it will not be my last.
  15. In my search for cheaper engine oil with better lubrication and cleaning efficacy, I have read extensively on Bobistheoilguy forums. This is for the cheapos out there. Firstly check this website: http://www.micapeak.com/bike/ST1300/API.html OK here is the low down. There are cheaper oils out there and the cheapest around are diesel engine oils. Why? companies that maintain vehicle fleets buy them. So there are plenty floating around (pun intended). Some of these companies maintain both diesel engines and petrol engines. So to cut cost, they rely on an engine oil called "fleet oil". Otherwise it is an engine oil that can be used on either engine. So in your search for a cheaper oil and you encounter a fleet oil, look at the API Service Category on the bottle. It must be rated C(something) for diesel AND S(something) for petrol. Check the webby as a reference. There are plenty of old stocks in the market. As long as your vehicle is capable of taking that rating, that oil can be used. For example, you own a COE petrol car with date of manufacture in 1985. Any oil with at least an SH cat will do even though SH is obsolete. If your car is bought after 2001, make sure the oil is SL and SJ cat for petrol. OK, why fleet oil? DD package! Diesel engines are the filthy. The oil must have low evaporation, high temperature resistance and soot control. So lube engineers put the best in diesel engine oil. Basically a better mix of detergents/dispersants. Much higher than petrol engine oil. So with mixed fleets, engineers of major lube companies made the oil multigrade. So it is easily taken by petrol engines as well. The DD package is very high in these oils and will keep your engine clean. You will often hear that Mobil Delvac 1300 Super is the best mineral oil around in the BITOG forums. My search came up zilch in SG but to my surprise, it has been renamed! Mobil Delvac MX is Mobil Delvac 1300 Super. The MX is the new name to denote (MiXed) for mixed fleet. It is cheap at $30 for 5L and is rated up to SJ and SL SAE 15W40. Available in any Mobil station. The other Delvac which is hard to find is Mobil Delvac 1. Very expensive because it is a synthetic version of Delvac MX. $85 for 5L SAE 5W40. Found only one source and that is Torino which is next to the AMK Ave 1 Caltex station. An acquaintence is now trying Fuchs Titan CFE MC 10W40. It too is an SJ cat fleet oil. But you will be surprised, the oil is completely black due to the amount of molybdenum inside that helps in lubrication. Cheap at $20 for 5L. Available from a shop in Lim Tua Tow Rd. OK why don't people use them? Marketing! The lube and petrol companies hype up their petrol engine oils. They also deny or restrict the availability of these oils so you keep buying the expensive petrol engine oils or buying the inferior petrol oils. Much like the supermarket tactic of placing the expensive items at eye level on the shelves while the dirt cheap ones are at the bottom where you won't look. I hope this helps the lot of you confused about which engine oil to use. Especially those that are completely aghast at the prices of Mobil 1, Amsoil and Redline.
  16. Hi all, A general question: How often should I service my Nissan Sunny/CAR? I have been told that cars should be serviced every 10,000km or 6 months. Is this figure correct? Has anyone out there stretched this figure to save some money and hassle?? Regards, Andrew

  22. I need some advice what should I do and what parts should I change during the 10,000km servicing for my Corolla 1.3M (2000) they call it G8? the new "elephant" corolla is G9? this is what i know i should do but maybe u can suggest more things? change engine oil. 24. Does anyone has contact that can get me a copy of the Nissan 300ZX service manual/repair guide CD ROM or book? I'm willing to pay for cost and for your effort in finding it.. Can't find any third party service manual out there for this car... The only I've found is Nissan dealer's original repair guide software that costs more than 140 SGD... Not worth it.. General repair guide for honda accords, etc are all about 20 SGD only..
