Up to which age should baby be rear facing in a car seat? Not trusting the manual of the car seat. I read that some suggests up to 2+ years.

I can't decide whether I should keep my car past the 20th yr mark. Cause I have spending some money to slowly restore it and replace worn out parts. However, if its not worth keeping, then I should just spend as little as possible to maintain it and scrap when coe expires...... Its a tough question. As for what car I am thinking about, it would be a 2nd hand Tom yam Camry.

In my daily drives, I have encountered many instances of cyclist speeding up and trying to beat the "flashing green man" at pedestrian crossings, resulting in near-misses for both drivers and even fellow pedestrians. Just yesterday, I witnessed this SBS feeder bus making a left turn. After the pedestrians had finished crossing, the bus started to move off and all of a sudden, the driver had to brake hard when a cyclist suddenly appeared from the left-side of the half-turned bus and cut in front of the turning bus. The bus stopped inches from the cyclist but instead of being thankful for not being runned-over, the cyclist stopped in front of the bus and started gesturing at the poor driver and also hurled verbal abuses.I have to salute the bus captain for being cool-headed and he just ignored the cyclist and continued his journey after a brief 30-sec commotion. Some cyclists want the best of both worlds, " Green light for vehicles, go! Green man for pedestrians, go!". I feel strongly that cyclists should dismount and push their bicycles at zebra-crossings and also other pedestrian crossings. It may be inconvenient, but it may save lives, As a fellow road-user, I feel that everyone has a role to play to ensure road safety for all.

Heard on the news this morning USA is considering a total ban on the use of hand-free phones etc while driving. A recent road death had record showing the dead driver sent 11 smses within 10 minustes of the car accident which killed him. If hand-free phone calls are considered by the law maker a distraction for the drivers, i would say talking to passengers (worst case: argueing/quarrelling) is just as bad. Do you think hand-free calls, texting, playing angry bird, etc etc should be banned, or even talking while driving must also be banned? Some say a life is worth a million dollars, or more (if he's a minister, definitely more?).

Situation: I reversed into a car today. Both my bumper is damaged. His is cracked, and his is a new car under warranty so he wishes to go back to his authorised dealer for fixing. I estimate it to cost around 3-4k at least as it is a conti car. Current insurance $3,800/yr 0% NCD because I just started having insurance tagged to my name been driving without accident for 12yrs. Scenario 1: I pay out of pocket $4000 (replacement of his bumper) $100 ( cheap repair of my bumper) Scenario 2: claim insurance $4000 (replacement of his bumper) $2000 ( replacement of my bumper) I don't mind claiming insurance coz I don't lose ncd anyway. But I have the following questions 1) will my insurance cover the repair of my bumper if it is found to be my fault? 2) will they load and make my insurance more expensive since they got no NCD to take away? Hi Guys, Recently came across a sad and disturbing scenario encountered by my wife colleague She agreed to become the guarantor for her cousin who claimed that he needed a car for his work. Young chap who probably lured by the privilege of owning a car. So he defaulted on the loan instalment payment. Finance Company try to repossess the car but could not find it. Letters were probably sent to his house and conveniently ignore. Now the finance company is going after the guarantor, issuing lawyer letter demanding the car. They are not interested in the outstanding instalment payment anymore. They wanted to repossess the car and auction it off. She was given until a certain deadline to respond(< 1week) The guy know will avoid her phone call now. Refusing to answer, acknowledge and disclose the location of the car. Even his mum could not get any information from him. He can only say he will pay off the outstanding instalment before the deadline. Under the brief description above, what is the rectification recommended for the guarantor? Seriously speaking, she know nuts. Dunno what car, what model etc etc. Signed blindly on the loan agreement, trusting her cousin etc etc. I would recommended her to speak with the finance company lawyer and meet up with a senior office from the finance company to explain that she is actually the victim of such circumstances. Hopefully, on sympathy ground, they will extend the deadline or propose another solution. Anyone of your guys have better suggestion?
