  1. My 2009 Hyundai Avante is making a grinding sound that seems like metal on metal sound (innk innk innk innk…….). Notice it only happens after the car has been sitting for a while. Once I keep driving, the sound will getting lesser and eventually gone (about 10 mins). This grinding sound also sometimes have sometimes don’t. The sound is quite loud even one kilometer can hear Any bro , encounter this can share what is the problem, where you fix it and how long time needed and how much to fix it? Thanks Btw, driving in such condition dangerous or not?
  2. I guess my exhaust pipe is loose as always kena kerb. Any idea where can tighten it and about how much?
  3. Not sure why, suddenly there is hollow sound.. when the speed hit 110km/h, the sound gets lesser.. anyone got any idea what's wrong, and any good reliable workshop to recommend? My car COE left 1.5yrs.. I'm in dilemma should I repair it or not? I step on the gas while parked idle and didn't hear anything even RPM go up to 3,000rpm or more..
  4. as in, fit this into this [laugh] [laugh] i was watching Pimp my ride and they could frigging fit 40" TVs into estates. So why not a simple sound bar? Do you think it is plausible? what kinda stuff do we have to look out for if we want to DIY this kinda thing?
  5. The 1st time Formula 1 race was held in Singapore in 2008, everyone was talking about, there a big hype about it, but i wasn't really a huge fan back then, also, the tickets were quite pricey and so i thought its okay that i gave it a miss and saved the hundreds of dollars. But on the last day of the race, when i was driving home from dinner in town, for the 1st time in my life i heard the engine sounds of the F1 cars! It gave me goosebumps even though the sounds were quite faint from Orchard road. So i decided to drive somewhere nearer to the track to get a closer 'listen'. I stopped somewhere near Clark Quey and just listened to the crazy loud engine noise, it was really exciting even though i couldn't see anything at all. That moment triggered me to make sure i went to race the following year, and i have been going to every race ever since. The 1st time my wife and i actually went to the race, i was extremely excited because finally, i can add an image to the insane engine sounds i heard. Sitting in the front section of the grandstand, the sound was almost unbearable even with earplugs on! My wife couldn't take the volume and covered her ears with her hands throughout the race, on top of wearing earplugs. I enjoyed myself a hell lot and instantly became an F1 fan. Now, you can tell how disappointing it is watching the video(below). The scene is the front straight of the Albert Park Circuit at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, and what you see on track on either side of the gentleman wearing the orange hat is a Mercedes AMG Petronas being followed by a Lotus. The first major clue, as should be obvious by the nose of the Mercedes, is that this scene was captured last year. The other major clue in the photo is the gentleman in the orange hat: he's wearing earmuffs to silence the noise. We count at least four people wearing them, and that's before the camera pans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS4Dh_EAfJI The organizers of the Australian Grand Prix are threatening to sue because of a "lack of sexiness," and F1 impresario Bernie Ecclestone has declared he was "horrified by the lack of [noise]." This video compares last year's 2.4-liter V8 cars on the first lap at Albert Park with the new turbo V6 cars on the first lap this year. You can compare the sounds and the number of earmuffs in this short clip.
  6. Driving Nissan latio, replaced original brake pad @ 70k , now is 120k, "ji.." sound was heard when brake, went to work shop, was told the front brake pad still can last at least 6 month, front brake disc and rear brake shoe also normal. as the brake pad was alreday taken out, decideed to replace with original brake pad, but after server days, the sound happened again when brake, not loud, really confused what could be the problem? anyone got similar experience?
  7. Hi all, I heard some ticking sound when the car is moving and it got more intense when the car is moving faster. What could be the problem? I'm goin to change engine oil soon so I need to prep myself not to get tock by the ws. Mileage:90k Age: 8 year old Changed the dunno cv joint or cap or something before 1 year ago. Thanks
  8. Anyway know based on the above condition. What could be wrong? I have been experienced some sort of grinding noise around the front area of my vehicle upon steering when I'm moving of my carpark lot usually full lock steering. This only happens when moving off and not an issue when moving or parking into a lot. It only happens when I just did my vehicle alignment few days ago..
  9. Hi bros, anyone had encounter this problem? When I started my engine, there was this screeching sound appear. Think is the alternator belt causing the sound. Anyone had tried using WD 40 to smooth it? Or roughly how much it will cost to change the belt? Thanks in advice.
  10. I hope Bro Tigerwood can teach me whats wrong in this tee-off driver shot and what happened to the head of that poor unlucky spectator got hit in his skull at the green http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ep4wiN39tLk
  11. Hello. Recently my ride is making some weird noises. Mostly in the morning during start-up. 1 - I need to clutch in during cranking, when release the pedal, I can feel a knocking sound. Other times during driving, no such issue. 2 - After cranking, when driving off, can hear a high pitch screeching sound. Think is from the wheels. The sound can only be heard for a short distance like moving out from a lot, after that, no such sound. Any bros encounter such things before?
  12. Hello, wondering anyone driving the car has this same problem? Normally occur when turning the wheel from 90 degrees left or right. Especially obvious during reverse turning into car park lot.
  13. ..... When lifting off the throttle? I recently fitted a Milltek and it sounds very nice but still cannot achieve that loud pop when I lift off. Do I really have to take off the resonator box?
  14. Was driving and suddenly I couldn't engage 5th gear..gear stick when in, but rpm just dropped. I dropped to 4th gear and stopped and put to neutral. I hear loud tok tok sounds from engine bay also. I turned off and switched on again, tok tok sound persists. Now waiting tow truck, to be on safe side. Anyone encounter this before? I'm driving a manual swift sport.
  15. Hi, I am going to buy material from china and DIY doing something similar to my car but using better quality material http://club.autohome.com.cn/bbs/thread-c-87-8685509-1.html http://club.autohome.com.cn/bbs/thread-c-155-4330163-1.html I have done a rough estimate of the material i needed All in cm Roof = 130x100 = 13,000 Floor = 220 x135 = 30,000 door=((60x90)+(60x70)) x2 = 19,000 (double layer so times 2 for mat) engine=100x50=5,000 Wheel and spare =20,000 Total about MAT: 87+19=106k cm sq or about 114 sq feet foam:87,0000 cm sq or about 93 sq feet sealer estimate is 25m for big D and 4m for P strip at the bottom(optional) foam is about 50cm x 80 cm x 10mm(thick) = 4000cm sq = 4.3 sq ft per piece http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=2355028522 mat is about 40cm × 24cm× 2.2mm±0.1mm(thick) = 960cm sq = 1.03 sq ft per piece There I will need to order Mat = 114/1.03 = 110 form = 93/4.3 = 22 exchange rate about 1 sgd to 4.8 rmb using credit card. 110 mat (7rmbx110=770/4.8 = $161) , 22 foam (18rmbx22=396/4.8= $83), Total = $244 mat roller 25rmb ($5.2), door sealer = big D (25x6=150/4.8=$32) + (P shape for door bottom (6x4=24/4.8=$5) optional) Total about sgd $280 exclude shipping. That is for whole car. If exclude roof and wheels, will be cheaper. rubberized spray for additional sound damping on wheels area and protect against water and rusting 2 can x 18rmb = 36 / 4.8 = $7.50 (2 cans 620ml enough?) http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=2495067556
  16. http://www.matrixowners.com/sutra162718.html#162718 This is great instructions given by an expert. He won many car audio competition before.
  17. Anyone tried to DIY ? Is it hard as to need to dismantle the seats? or can I just slot it underneath the carpet?
  18. One of the greatest challenges with integrating car audio products into your car in the quest to replicate a true concert experience is the placement of speakers, interior trim materials, cabin acoustics and road noise. While installation and sound deadening will eliminate some of these issues, it is necessary to use dedicated processors and digital interfaces to correct the fundamental issues. For those who want the most out of their car audio system, a digital signal processor can help. After some slight adjustments, your system will sound like it has been professionally tuned and optimised. There have been rumours that if your speakers are good enough, you won't require a processor. Unfortunately, this isn't the case because it's the environment that creates the need for a processor, not the speakers. Digital signal processors (DSP) Most Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) factory fitted stereo systems are underwhelming in terms of quality sound. Well, they may have convenience features like iPod inputs, Bluetooth hands-free and steering wheel controls but they lack the ability to fine tune audio performance as well as add extra amplification. Most OEM stereos are also designed to compensate for low quality speakers, which is accomplished by artificially manipulating the frequency profile. When inferior original equipment speakers are replaced with high quality aftermarket units, this manipulation is often very easy to pick up on and if an amp is also installed, the problem will only get worse. That's where a DSP can come to the rescue. There are a number of uses for DSPs, but one of the most remarkable is to fix problems that have been noticed with OEM stereos. The DSP sits between the head unit and the amp, and it can literally undo the factory unit's problems. Some DSPs even have custom profiles that can be downloaded from the Internet, which will automatically fix the pre-processing issue and improve the overall listening experience by finetuning the head unit to suit the interior of the specific vehicle. Audison has released a number of digital components that make it not only easy to get great sound from factory sound systems, but also allow for a complete digital connection from processors to amplifiers. One of them is the Audison bit Ten - a DSP that will be equally at home in a modest system or a full-blown competition car audio system. Audison bit Ten The bit Ten is a multi-function DSP featuring analogue input, capable of transforming an OEM or aftermarket system into a high performance system. This processor comes with a 32 bit, 147 MHz clock speed Cirrus Logic DSP. It is a special DSP, ensuring high integration, where the main processing functions are implemented in optimised and pre-configured blocks, providing the ability to reduce the processing resources, thus ensuring top level performance. The architecture is completed with 24 bit analogue to digital (A/D) and digital to analogue (D/A) converters, as well as a powerful microcontroller to manage, supervise and connect the system to a computer. During the installation phase, where conversion of the analogue signal into a digital one is done, the bit Ten automatically reconstructs a digital full-bandwidth stereo signal and de-equalises the frequency response and, if necessary, reconstructs the central and subwoofer channels. Users can also configure the output mode of each channel relative to the installed system. bit Ten and its advantages Audison truly sets the level when it comes to getting great sound quality in your vehicle, and with the bit Ten, they have designed a product that allows anybody to upgrade their system, no matter what vehicle they have. All of the operations on the bit Ten, from setting the parameters of each input single channel, setting the delays according to the listening position to adjusting crossovers and equalisers for each of the five output channels can be managed with or without a computer. The other great advantage of the bit Ten is that you can retain your factory fitted head unit, which is often heavily integrated with other climate and vehicle controls. The bit Ten uses advanced processors to digitally correct factory speaker placement and frequency response, providing a great one-stop solution with minimal component replacement. The bit Ten boasts a modern and flexible platform, making it possible to stay current with technological evolution. The firmware, based upon Flash memory, can be updated at any time without having to disassemble the device from the system. And to make things even better, the bit Ten has a built in AUX input, allowing you to plug in an MP3 player, or any other audio device, so if your car doesn't have an input, the bit Ten will take care of it. The bit Ten also allows for a hands-free kit and offers an audio mute as standard as well. Having amazing sound really has just got easy, thanks to this little box of tricks. Why Audison? With 34 years of experience in the audio industry, Audison is a renowned name in the audio industry. Since 1979, the founders of Audison have fuelled a long lasting passion for high quality sound, continuing to design and build tools which can produce the perfect sound. In addition, they design and select the materials, experiment and listen to the results time and time again, allowing only their emotions to let them recognise when the product was complete. Since its inception, Audison presents its products to the market only after they have fully met the requirements of their creators to ensure that the highest quality is delivered. More impressively, Audison has many awards and accolades to its name such as the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Award, the Innovations Design and Engineering Award and many others. In Singapore, In-phone Marketing (Asia) Pte Ltd is the official distributor for the Audison bit Ten. They are located at 130 Joo Seng Road #05-05 Olivine Building Singapore 368357. 20. hi all, recently I have this problem, when I turn my key to on, all the warning lights come on as usual, but when I try to start the engine, there is no cranking at all, engine not able to start. I have to turn the key to off, then on again wait for about 2-3secs before I can start the engine. seems like this problem will happen when I try to start the engine immediately from off to start. feels like there needs to be a pause inbetween on and start. is this normal, or something is going?
  21. Hi, Recently, I notice I have this problem. Initially thought the sound is caused by tires in MCP, or from other vehicles... Everytime I started up my car from cold engine and starts to move off, I noticed there is sound : eeee sound when I apply or release brake pedal. But the funny part is that this happens when engine cold(morning) in the first two minutes after moving off...after which no sound liao Does anyone have any similar encounter b4? Any advise...should i bring to TCm for a check?
  22. My S4 is behaving weird today. There's NO notification sound for my SMS, Whatsapp, Email and even phone ring tone. I tried calling out but couldn't hear the other party. I plug in the ear phone and also hear nothing...... Reboot the phone and everything goes back to normal.... for 2-3 minutes only. Then it's all NO sound again. I suspect that it could be a software problem rather than hardware (since there's sound after I reboot but only for 2-3 minutes). I tried googling for an answer but it seems fruitless..... Anyone experience problem like this before and how you solve it ?
  23. Hi all, I would like to check with any bros who has the same problem before. I am driving an ody RB1, recently when I switched on my car aircon, i can hear something like water flowing from my co driver side. It is like those water fountain sound but no water leaking. Please advise what could be the problem? air con compressor breaking down soon? Thanks in advance for the advice.
  24. went to service my car last sat and was told that i need to replace my drive shaft... Before this servicing i noticed whenever i do turning (i find the bends quite sharp for me) at first lane (after MBS towards AYE) i will heard a loud sound coming from undercarriage. the technician told me could be due to this drive shaft... But after changing the drive shaft, both sides. I still encounter this issue. Any idea what other possible causes?
