  1. Hi, Yesterday i was surfing Nam Huat's website and i found their worksmanship for soundproofing to be very good. see this pic: http://www.namhuat.com/trackrecords/pictur...-9450MP0008.JPG as you can see, the sound insulation material conforms to the shape of the door, and a heatgun is used during installation to achieve this. then i went on to the "Featured Products" page and found they carry a brand of sound insulation material by the name of CAE. Anybody using this brand? Is it good? Any comments? where else can i get this kind of worksmanship? i am really keen on letting them do sound insulation for my car. Thanks.
  2. As above. Can any bro/sis who had similar experience to share? My car is Corolla Altis(2008) model. Just change front brake pad recently. When slowing down, especially when car is slow, it will have a "tok" sound before coming to a stop. It is a on and off issue, therefore I hardly can pin point the problem. When I driving fast and come to a stop, it will be ok. Anyone with similar experience?
  3. Hi guys, need some advice as this is an area I know little about. My main gripe is road noise from the tyres, and the OEM A349 Aspecs seem to be getting louder (or maybe its because i've been driving the punto more, and it became quieter after I changed the P4's to K415's). Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what way I can most effectively lower the road noise levels. Do note that in their weight reduction scheme for the DE model Mz2's and Demios, Mazda has minimised the SPing done, and if you lift up the spare wheel cover, you'll realise that there is only some minimal spray/paint on sound deadener. In no particular order, this is what I'm planning on doing. Basically I'm targeting a cumulative reduction in tyre noise volume. 1) Change tyres to either the Hankook K415's or Kumho KH17's. Any comments on either tyre in comparison to each other?? 2) Get someone to use the spray on/paint on deadener in my wheel arches. Extra coat in the rears as more noise is coming from them. I've read that it helps. 3) Cover the entire boot floor and spare wheel well in sound absorbing materials. Should I do the same for the back of the rear seats and/or the underside of the parcel shelf??? 4) Soundproof the firewall on the engine side. Sound absorbing mats at the lower sections extending to a little under the car, and sound reflecting sheets at the upper 1/3rd My assumption with the firewall and boot soundproofing is that both the engine bay and boot act as resonators to increase the road noise. Oh one last thing, When the bass from my music gets too deep, my front door cards seems to vibrate against the inner frame. Should I just use 1.5/2mm insulation foam to line the frame or should I just SP my front doors??? I've heard that you get tighter bass with the latter.
  4. wondered why companies here in Singapore so captivated or fascinated with FTs especially those in the financial sector from USA, UK and Europe why? I cannot understand when these are the same countries that are almost in financial ruins and these so call financial experts are hired here to give advice on how we locally need to do to excel funny this is not a FT bashing post do you find it funny too?
  5. hi guys, has anyone ever encountered a dull "eee" sound when starting the car. It seemed to come from the automatic adjustment of the steering wheel from rest to driving position when the car is being started. I drive a 8.5yr old lexus car which comes with automatic retraction of the steering wheel when one disembarks from the car. can any experts advise me?

  7. I've recently bought this ride from a used car dealer. Everything was fine, except for this intermittent problem, The car would ride fine most of the time. Accelerating and braking wouldn't give me much issues.. This intermittent problem would hit me usually when crusing at 80 - 90 km/h. The car would suddenly have this loud shuddering noise, the whole car would vibrate, and when i accelerate, i can't gain much speed, its like the car is braking itself. When I let go off the accelerator pedal, the speed would reduce drastically. On highways, this is a total nightmare. I'm at a loss, as when I bring it into workshops. The problem doesn't replicate itself. Its really intermittent, can happen any point of the day, during initial cold start, after driving for a while, ANYTIME! After i drive slow for about 2 - 5 minutes, it would go away itself... I'm suspecting a dirty ABS wheel sensor, reading that the wheel's speed is different, decides to brake itself.. Is that possible? But no ABS lights up when it happens.. No warning lights at all.. I'm writing in to the forum in hope that someone has experienced this problem and can advise.... Other then the above problem, sometimes when i step on brake, i have the pulsating feeling on brake paddel. Might have a warped rotor? But this too comes and goes.. Please help!
  8. Need help guys, my car when braking will have "glock glock" sound(like knocking sound) from driver side.. when driving no problem.. if brake lightly n slowly stop the car den the "glock glock" sound is slow tempo.. if brake a bit harder den will be fast tempo.. but so far driving no problem.. juz scared anything loose or broken.. any ideas what might have happened? juz went for servicing last week and this juz happened today.. i changed my fan belts, brake disc n pads last week.. orginal toyota one.. and these 2 days i have been overloading a bit on my car.. driving a vios 05 with 6 persons.. would appreciate any initial diagnosis before sending my car to workshop..
  9. Anyone experiencing this problem? Especially in the morning when the engine is very cold... usually last for about 10 minutes when the car has warmed up... car is about 3 year old... I experience the same problem for my previous ride, '98 version GLX...
  10. hi there, my car has a clicking sound when turning at a slow speed. everything else ok. what could be the fault? it is dangerous to wait for 1-2more months for my normal servicing schedule? can any experts please advise? thanks in advance.

  15. Hi Bros, Since the collection of my car.. my car has been good except for once battery goes flat and keeps stalking after ECU reset. But these still ok... but the major issue is this sound that came from my engine bay.. it has been very very irritating. Initially i tot it is due to aging belt.. but after belt changed.. sound still the same. Tot engine old liao.. but after full major servicing with 5W40... coolant flush, MTF flush.. bleed BF.. also same. Water pump pulley changed also same sound.. Could it be my crank pulley? or other pulley? I noticed from the video shown below the sound came from pulley and belt area... can anyone advice me? My mech told me could be aircon compressor.. but i don't think so.. because the whistling sound still persist even aircon is not turned on... and cannot be radiator fan because aircon not switched on too.. listen carefully.. it's a whistling sound.. a wee wee wee sound.. Please help.. :( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_MxmrnyImo...eature=youtu.be
  16. Dear brothers and sisters of MCF, This morning I experienced "groaning" sound coming from the front when I was braking from speed ranging from 30-50km/h. I didn't drive my car after last Sunday when I drove through a mini flood till today morning. My steering doesn't feel any jerk while braking but the sound sounds pretty scary, I haven't tried high speed braking yet though. So I was hoping to hear some advice from you guys. Should I go to a workshop to do a check? If yes, do you have any reliable and recommended workshop to do a quick check? (preferably not too far from the east) Thank you so much in advance! Regards, Tsr729

  22. Bros, one of my speakers in my car is spoilt and needs to be replaced. As my ride is pre-owned, I am not sure if the speaker / sound system is stock. Questions: 1. How do I check? Or necessary to check? 2. Should I change 1 speaker? Or both (so as to 'match' left and right)? 3. Should I change the whole set altogether? My CD changer is in the glove now (loads 5 discs individually). So I guess quite an old set... 4. Where is a good (and honest) place for me to go and get the necessary (whether change 1 speaker only or whole set) done? And typically how long would it take? 5. Any other things I need to know? Many thanks
  23. I experience louder than than usual sound coming out from the drive belt, and occasionally speaky sound. How do I know if the drive belt due for change?
