  1. In my line of wk, i would recieve many applicants of foreigners and local PRs. I've came to notice many of the PRs here are able to hold a proper conversation in English but when it comes to writing (we have a sec 2 eng test prior to the interview) most of them cannot make it. My coy adverts have alot of Myanmmar, Pinoy & Indian/Pakistani/Bangla nationalities calling in... Guess its the start of a new yr many foreigner looking to change job. alot of PRs too from these few nations come down from interviews too. The better ones are the Burmese fellas, able to speak and write fairly well. Pinoys also not bad... Worst of the lot are usually the pakis or banglas most can speak but cannot write! Ah Tiongs usually wun call in to our ads since we advertise excl in English papers. But sometimes will have the odd one or two who are able to read n and write fairly well. We take em too. Msians both foreigner and PRs are by far the largest group which we take in. But funnily alot of msian chinese guys like to wk in Zi Char Stalls wif low pay or in mechanical wkshops and factories. They dun seem to have much ambition compared to their femaile counterparts. Same also for th e Malaysian Indians the girls would be more proactive in upgrading of skills and looking for better prospects. Maybe because of the industry i'm in thats why i tend to observe and see such happenings... Any bros would like to share about their own experiences in their company? Seems like a lot of PRs are also facing alot of difficulties finding jobs with the exception of Msians... Tink we will see alot of exodus of the FTs back to their home countires in the face of raising inflations!!
  2. looking around all the sports cars are going, going gone the rx8, civic type r, s2000 are all already gone seriously will we be left with 80bhp cars in the future? i might be slow but what are the manufacturers gonna do? all going into fully electric or hybrid? then how about the lambos, aston martins, ferraris?
  3. I seldom send my car to a car wash but at recent times I really got no choice due to long working hours and other activities. All along... My impression of local car wash is not very good... Cannot fight Malaysia standard... Until today. I want to commend the car wash call "wash and run" at bukit Merah esso/mobil station. First time I see such delication of the washers that put their heart to wash the car, covering all spots including my exhaust tip. The dryer even open my doors to wipe the interior. The price is $7 for cars and there's a queue at the time. I waited for around 10 mins but the result is worth the wait and price! Also realise these washer are locals, perhaps that's the reason for their delication? I regularly when to the car wash at Thompson. Although $4 but the wash is quick and hasty. The washers are FTs and can see some bickering among themselves. I ever, by no choice, tried a even cheaper one. Thompson caltex. The washer is hopeless and really Kengster. They spray the foam all on the windsceen but none on the body. End up one side wash and another side never even spray water. I quarrel with the FT dryer on the standard. End up go home diy again. Should have spend that $3 on a pack of chicken rice instead.
  4. Hey guys i wana know if there is such a thing like a say, 2L conti car shld be having an average depreciation rate? meaning to say most 2L Conti cars should have say a 10k depreciation rate as compared to a 2L Jap car having lesser depreciation?

  7. Hi all,. I have a habit to read up and do research , before buying things Especially Engineeering products. I have been wanting to try different types of Engine oil till I get one that is most suitable for my car. Well.. Engine Oil is like the blood of our car and the Oil filter is like the LIVER of our car. So the blood is important. I have found a website by chance and found useful Information in it. It is the API Website (American Petrolum Institiute), It will tell you a certain BRAND and Model of Engine Oil is certified by them. It is a good guide for people who wants to buy engine oil and know they are really certified by API. (Can check the list before purchase) NEGATIVE side is that I found a handful of Brands of Engine Oil that are not listed in API listing and yet make cliams of that their Engine Oil is of API standard. Brand not listed under EOLCS but Claim API standard Checked on 12 Nov 07 using http://eolcs.api.org/displayinfo.asp?Info=Viscosities 1) X Rev from Xtreme Lubricants Lab http://x-lube.com/xlube%20pg3A1.htm 2) KIC http://www.kic-oil.com/oil-grades.html 3) OWS http://www.ows.com.au/products_lubricants.html 4) Luqui Moly http://www.tommymotorsport.com/liquimoly/2_browse.htm http://eolcs.api.org/FindBrandByViscosity....Viscosity=5W-30 Can the any brand claim API standard if not certified under EOLCS of API. Could anyone crack the myth? Can Engine Oil Company Mislead consumers? Cheers Gimmy
  8. Our Mini-Star have always touted that the Sinkie have 'First World standard' medical treatment....the best within the Asean region...if you could pay for it. If one where to say...'the treatment I need, cannot be provided within Sillypore, then you better have the means to pay for an overseas treatment. Or else do with what you have in Sillypore. I have yet to see more examples of the local hospitals...private or re-structured, waiving hospitals and professional bills for those who genuinely can't pay them but need expensive specialist care and treatment. THE ABOVE STATEMENT IS THE AREA THAT NEEDS ADDRESSING! Not one who says , that they need oversea treatment and go round asking for donation for it. To set a precedent for such issue...would be a bad example. Then where is the line to draw, on who is MORE genuine in need of an expensive OVERSEAS medical treatment and who should just do with what you have locally? Please contribute constructive posts.

  10. Wright-Phillips hit by FA charge Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association. The charge relates to an incident between the 27-year-old and Stoke's Rory Delap during City's 1-0 defeat at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, which was missed at the time by referee Martin Atkinson. The player has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge. i thot incidents not spotted by ref during a game is not subject to FA inquiry . Obviously i m referring to bossiwa for booting benayoun on e back.
  11. Any MCFers here going? How many clicks would you be taking part? hows the preparation?
  12. well, i just couldn't find the post.. i knew i read before sometimes back about people receive their cc without even applying....blablabla.... just got to know yesterday, they sent me a checkbook and an atm card back in july to my OLD address, i've moved to my new flat for nearly 1yr already.......wonder where they got my old address from..... gosh.... are they that desperate??.... anyway, just need to confirm, if i ignore it or burn it together with hell money, they will stop bothering me, right?..... btw, is there anywhere i could "feedback" my opinion about such lousy trick to so that i will never ever receive anything from them????..
  13. I read some of those car reviews in MCF....while some are good....most are terrible. They look more like a one line ad rather a review. For example, the one on the Toyota Corrolla Altis. Can the moderators ensure some standard in those reviews?

  16. Mark Mobius, Executive Chairman, Templeton Asset Management, Ltd. The Fed's efforts to bolster the markets by providing more funds to more market players for longer periods and against broader ranges of collateral were urgently needed, and should be even more aggressive. We believe the Fed is right to accept mortgage-backed securities as collateral for central bank loans. But more importantly, the Fed should revise the entire accounting system and eliminate the mark-to-market requirement, which causes distortions when markets are as dysfunctional as they are now. Requiring banks to mark down their mortgage assets to market prices, even though trading in these securities is so illiquid there are no reliable market prices, is driving the downward spiral. What is happening is that as soon as you revalue one set of securities, everybody else has to do the same thing because that becomes the benchmark. Accounting firms and auditors must be sanctioned for making accounts extremely opaque in addition to creating a system in which too much subjective judgment is left to them and their clients, company managements. Without the current write-downs, banks would probably have enough capital to lend out to homeowners. Of course, the prices of the stocks of our emerging market portfolios have been affected by market turbulence but we continue to seek investment bargains and stick to our proved investment strategy. We are currently finding many opportunities for bottom fishing. Price declines in many stocks have exceeded 50%, making them highly attractive.
  17. When I first use Glare, I was very satisfied. In fact when I went for the grooming service, "car spa" which cost $25, I was also very pleased. They did a good job and told the whole forum that I was a happy customer. Now, I went for my Glare 1st inspection after 6 months. James (the PIC) wasn't around. So the polishing was done by the workers (Previously, polishing was done by James). After a casual inspection of the work done, I left for home. It was only until I reach home, the first hint of a haphazard job begin to surface. I had to unpack my stuff from the boot and noticed a new scratch! and black dots (like the one above the scratch) all over the boot lid. I can't say for sure the scratch is caused by them but the many black dots shouldn't be there after a wash, claybar and polish. [inline "Woes 4 - Souvenir.JPG"] Next I went around really inspecting my car. Wow, they claybar my wiper washer! [inline "Woes2 - Left over claybar_s.jpg"] Water spots on the top of my car. This is the 1st Inspection polishing standard. I quickly grabbed my Glare DIY kit and begin polishing them away. [inline "woes 3 - spots 1st inspection std.jpg"] It took less than 2 minutes to apply the polish to the problem area and here's my DIY results. Please ignore the shine difference between the 2 photos as the sun was behind clouds & out. Just see the spots disappear. [inline "woes 3 - DIY Glare_s.jpg"] The saga continue in my next post.
  18. they keep talking abt it... i dun see any action taken as yet..... or are they really out of idea wat to do...... http://sg.news.yahoo.com/cna/20080101/tap-...83-231650b.html i guess its another 5 year of empty promises..... where are those promises before the elections.....
  19. 1. Based on local context, Chervolet Epica is classified as Big Size Sedan akin to BMW 5 Series, Audi A6s and Mercz E-Class. However, its wheel base size is similar to Civic at 2700. However, Civic is grouped under Medium Size Sedan. Why? 2. Most of the Conti cars are not spacious at the rear cabin. They often talk about spacious but neglect and inconvenient the poor center passengers with high center trunk/column. How to place the foot is one headache. So these cars are not rear passenger friendly. At best can only say they are spacious 4 seaters car. 3. So, who makes the most effective 5 seaters? the obvious answer is Honda Civic but is there really no other alternatives? Regards,

  22. First we have an Ah Beng becoming the museum ambassador and now we have an Ah Lian to represent tourism. We are truly hopelessly hopeless. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost6442.aspx
