  1. Since the internal plastics on my car's gearknob crumbled and broke off and having replaced it in the car, it meant i had a spare knob with a pretty good exterior to play around with. So i decided to see if i could customise my DFGT's knob to fit. Took quite a bit more work (& time) and some small fabrication to get it to fit but it's in!
  2. Hi, Sorry for noob question, how do I know which 3rd party head unit that can be compatible with my steering wheel control?
  3. bros, need help here, my steering wheel vibrates when i gently brake starting from 80-60, then it just disappears. this happens when even when i have driven for quite some time. beentold by my mechanic that it is ABS kicking in. but that does not happen when i pressed harder and braking from the same range of speed.
  4. Hi, MCF Car Enthusiast's, Can anyone explain what's wrong with this Opel car steering wheel abnormal swinging upon starting the engine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l03RGc3kUTI
  5. Hi guys, need some advise on this issue: Last week i went back to TTS for my 10K servicing. After few days of driving, i then realised that i can feel the whole steering vibrating (juttering) when i apply my foot on the brakes while slowing down and stopping. Is this abnormal? Before servicing i didn't have this issue. what could have they done to my car?
  6. I currently have a situation whereby my steering wheel in neutral position is slightly to the left obviously my vehicle will veer left slightly but if the steering wheel is straighten then it does not have any veering movement. How to know the steering wheel is straight? I see my car logo on the steering wheel.. Does it means the alignment is out or the steering wheel need to be corrected?
  7. Anyway know based on the above condition. What could be wrong? I have been experienced some sort of grinding noise around the front area of my vehicle upon steering when I'm moving of my carpark lot usually full lock steering. This only happens when moving off and not an issue when moving or parking into a lot. It only happens when I just did my vehicle alignment few days ago..
  8. My vehicle steering wheel audio control used to be able to control the aftermarket Pioneer HU. However, not sure what had happened or since when, it no longer be able to do so. Anyone has any idea what is the root cause or how I can get the control back?
  9. Hello, wondering anyone driving the car has this same problem? Normally occur when turning the wheel from 90 degrees left or right. Especially obvious during reverse turning into car park lot.
  10. Hi, I am driving a Hyundai Getz and while doing some routine checks of the engine bay, realised the PSF is rather low. Checked my car manual and it says to use "PSF 3". But WTF is "PSF 3"????? Can anyone pls advise if I can just buy any of the generic PSF from the petrol kiosk to top it up? Or can anyone pls advise which is the correct type of PSF to use?
  11. any of you change this already? or can this fluid last the life of the car? according to the book, its supposed to last the life of the car
  12. Need advice, bros. Besides on-wheel balancing, is there any other way solve steering vibration at high speed (>120km/h)? Is camber or toe adjustment necessary after a +1 rim upgrade?
  13. I hope this can become sticky. Here is the procedure if anyone wants to attempt it. It is simple. Bleeding the Power Steering System [ol] If the power steering hydraulic system has been serviced, an accurate fluid level reading cannot be obtained until the air is bled from the system. Follow these steps to bleed the air from the system.[*]Turn the wheels all the way to the left and add the power steering fluid to the MIN mark on the fluid level indicator.Notice : When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use DEXRON
  14. Hello everyone, Found a small reddish oil patch on the car porch tiles this morning. Dropped by workshop during lunch and was told the power steering rack is leaking, an entire replacement unit cost in excess a thousand bucks. As I'm planning to scrap vehicle in 3 months time, mechanic advised me to perform a check every morning and top-up if necessary. Is there any way to plug the leak temporally? Was told leak will get worst over time. More importantly, are there any safety issues to be worried about? Thank you.
  15. Hi Folks Need some expert advice from the folks here. My car is still steering slightly to the left even after absorbers were changed (front & back), alignment done (2X! once by outside workshop, another by agent!) & tyres rotated (no faults found) & drive shaft no issues (as verified by agent). The last alignment done by the agent did help the pulling a bit. It used to pull strongly to the left, especially in slow speeds. Now its not so bad, but if I take my hands off the steering, you'll see the wheel slowly turning by itself to the left. Any other ideas where else to check? Am driving a Scooby LGT. Cheers!
  16. Recently, I have been feeling that the steering feel on the CSC5 is no longer crisp. Estimate about 20k mileage so far. Anyone on CSC5 has the same feeling about the steering response from the tyres when old?
  17. Recently went for servicing; changed engine oil, oil filter and alternator. Funny thing is after driving for about 10 mins onwards, I will hear a squeaking sound from the steering wheel when I turn in either clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation. This is abnormal because it was OK before the servicing. The squeaking sound is like rubber rubbing against each other due to friction but I cannot be sure. My dad is saying the mechanic might have over tightened something. Anybody here has experience with this problem?
  18. Hi I just took over an almost 6 year old cefiro. 1 week to realise that its leaking power steering fluid. Did STA inspection but didn't say got problem. D Now need to temporary top up first with some fluid but do not know whether old stuff is mineral or synthetic dexron III. Does anyone know whether can mix? Also where to fix leak without getting carrot head? Thanks

  20. I am thinking of changing steering wheel... I tot the only way to change is> get a new steering wheel (e.g. Sparco) + usage of Quick release Then i saw some forum/mass order merchant saying that changing of steering wheel is legal but usage of Quick release is illegal... 1) so is changing steering wheel illegal? 2) if dont use quick release, still can change steering wheel?? :crycry:
  21. Steering components are one of the most important mechanisms in a vehicle. Basically, it is to ensure the direct control of the vehicle. A conventional steering system is connected through a series of mechanical items such as rods and gears. As we move into the era of new and innovative automotive technology, it is just a matter of time that we get to see a steering technology that uses electronic controllers. And Nissan has introduced such technology and it will be featured on Infiniti models within the next year. Nissan has unveiled a steering technology that allows independent control of a vehicle's tyre angle and steering input and it is said to be a world
  22. Hi everyone, Does power steering oil needs to be changed/flushed? My vehicle is coming to 5yrs old and power steering oil has turned brown. Owner's manual says nothing about changing the fluid.
  23. Just bought a 2nd hand 2006 civic 1.8, everything is perfect except, when i have the turn light on, in addtion to the normal blinking sound, a weir clicking/ticking noise is heard if turn the steering wheel, it only happens when the turn light is on. any one has any ideas?
  24. I am driving a Cerato Forte that comes with EPS. Each time when I make a turn, be it left, right or U turn, the steering wheel is very slow in centering itself. I have to counter steer back fast to avoid any collision. Also, when I turned my steering wheel when making a turn, the ratio that I turn my steering wheel and the ratio that my tyres turn is not consistent, it causes understeer. I got to turn my steering more in order to negotiate that turn. Is there anyway to adjust the steering ratio??? If yes, where to do it. ??? My mileage is 85k now. Any idea wat is wrong with the steering problem??? Thanks
  25. Steering wheel can be said to the motif of the car's interior. In my opinion, I think the best looking steering wheel has got to be the Merc's signature steering wheel now: Anyone got any others to share?
