  1. Borneo Motors Singapore plans to redevelop its Pandan Crescent property into an eight-storey complex housing various motor businesses. Borneo Motors Singapore (BMS) has revealed plans to redevelop its Pandan Crescent property into an eight-storey complex. The new project will be used to house its various motor vehicle businesses. Experts in the field estimated the project to cost around $40 million. BMS is the distributor for automotive brands such as Toyota, Lexus, Suzuki and Hino. It is part of Inchcape Group of the United Kingdom and has its flagship complex located at 33 Leng Kee Road - where it houses Toyota and Lexus showrooms. The Pandan Crescent property is currently used to house the showroom for Suzuki cars, as well as the company's bodywork and paintshop facilities. The Business Times reported that the new project will start by this mid-year. Meanwhile, retail business for Suzuki will be shifted to a ground floor unit at Ubi Megamart from May.

  9. Introduced to the world in 2003, the Suzuki Ignis Sport is a performance variant of the normal Ignis. It was basically designed to provide owners with maximum smiles per buck without burning a hole in their pockets. The car we have here was beefed up with a number of modifications, including a body kit, firmer suspension and close ratio gear box. Moving inside, it was not hard to see why the car could be priced so competitively. The interior does feel a little plain compared to most basic cars today and you can forget about finding any soft touch plastics on the dashboard. That said, the cabin space is decent and the driving position is spot on. Suzuki definitely had only the driver in mind when they built this. Happy to report that the pedals are well-placed for heel and toe downshifts too. Lovely Recaro seats hug drivers tight when it comes to the twisties, which this cheery little car relishes. We aren't too sure about the yellow netting in the headrest though. Feels good to be shifting gears ourselves even though this particular car's gearbox does feel slightly tired. White face dials with blue back lighting was pretty cool back in the early 2000's. Even though we rev it for all its worth (wished it could rev higher than 6,500rpm), it returned a surprisingly respectable 13.5km/L. Again, nothing fancy here. Air-con is strong and cold even after all these years. Carbon fibre effect on centre console is a nice touch. Front and rear fog lamps a standard equipment. 2-DIN head unit produces decent sound but is usually not turned on as we rather listen to the engine sing. Little 15-inch wheels coupled with 185-width tyres provide a good balance of grip and slip. This Ignis Sport rides pretty hard as it was on aftermarket coilovers. But it is oh-so-chuckable in the corners. Turn-in is instant and the car resists understeer well. We also hear that it can lift its rear wheel in a corner when asked too. Owner had a Sebring exhaust fitted to enhance aural pleasure. This 1.5-litre engine came with variable valve timing, pushing out 108bhp and 140Nm of torque. Nothing special but the car weighs less than a tonne hence the century sprint is a decent 8.9 seconds. A BMC intake (and we suspect a lightened flywheel) makes the car feel faster than it says on paper. Sad to say, this car is into its last eight months of its 10-year COE lifespan and currently the owner has no plans to renew its COE due to the sky high COE prices now. We do hope it does find a new owner who is willing to give it a new lease of life!
  10. To those who have been driving the new Suzuki Swift for a while, perhaps this could be the thread for any update or complaint or any component or mechanical failure. This is so that we can determine how reliable has Swift been. Personally, I have voided my warranty by sending my car to other workshop for servicing instead of going down to the Authorised workshop, which charges higher price and also takes longer waiting time. Any component failure so far, folks?
  11. Anybody spotted this reckless driver cutting in and out of lanes along TPE, appreciate if you could private message me. Incident happened just a while ago at about 2315hrs, CTE exit to TPE. The white swift was seen exiting to Sengkang East Road. Pic showing CTE tunnel exit to TPE.

  13. If you live in the USA and you're a proud owner of either a Suzuki Grand Vitara (MY 2006-2011) or the Suzuki SX4 (MY 2007-2011), it is likely that these vehicles are in for a recall. Yes, you heard it right. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), either of the aforementioned models has some flaws regarding seatbelt and airbag sensors. There have been at least 128 complaints filed related to seatbelt lights, airbag indicators, and airbag warning lights. In total, the number of troublesome Suzukis has reached 205,000 units. Fortunately, Suzuki - as it is supposed to, I think - seems to be aware of the issues. The Japanese automaker has confirmed that the passenger seat load indicator on their lineups for the 2009 model years has an error in its programming indeed. In addition to that, there's also this open-circuit problem that prevents the sensor mat from appropriately determining whether a person sitting in the front seat is an adult or a child. Bad news for Suzuki, these issues affect both the Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Suzuki SX4. Aware that their cars have airbag issues besides the ones mentioned earlier, the Japanese automaker has taken necessary action by upping the seat cushion bottom warranty for its cars to either 10 years or a total of 120,000 miles. Fortunately, it seems that there has yet to be any report of injuries. Nonetheless, you should still expect a recall from the automaker from the land of the rising sun. Well, it seems that Suzuki is really in trouble. Aside from this potential recall issue, the company has also filed a bankruptcy plan not so long ago and it has been court-approved.
  14. I'm looking for second hand SX4. Where are the area of the car I need carefully to check for problems? Any major problem for 2007/2008? Need to change the timing belt? Thank you in advance for any input. Best regards,
  15. The Japanese automaker Suzuki doesn't usually have eye-catching sedans that are really interesting. As a matter of fact, this, probably, may have always been one of the main reasons why its sedans are hard to accept for Asian people. In Indonesia, for example, the company's Baleno, SX4, and Swift find it hard to get to the heart of the customers. However, that is likely to change with the Authentics, a concept that Suzuki will be bringing along to the Shanghai Motor Show this upcoming April. From the teaser images Suzuki has released, the Authentics seems to be a mid-size four-door sedan. It also comes with a seemingly long wheelbase which, in turn, might result in spacious legroom for front and rear passengers alike. It's still unknown what will power this sedan. However, our guess is that the Authentics concept will carry a petrol engine with four inline cylinders mated to a CVT transmission or a similar powertrain. From the teaser images, it can be seen that the Authentics is distinctive from other Suzuki models. Not only does it look prettier, this concept looks pretty luxurious as well, thanks to its LED combination taillights with a chrome bar in between, twin exhaust pipes surrounded by chrome accents, chrome trim surrounding its windows, and chrome door handles.

    Suzuki

Back in September last year, Suzuki showcased a concept vehicle at the Paris Motor Show. The concept is known as the S-Cross and the company has promised to unveil a production version of the concept in 2013. Recently, the Japanese automaker has released a couple of teaser images of the car in a new form and it will premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March. The yet unnamed C-segment crossover is based on the above mentioned concept and it is said to be the successor to the Suzuki SX4. Suzuki has stated that the car will offer outstanding versatility to consumers and it will feature a roomy interior and one of the largest luggage area in its segment. Much of the car

  20. [extract] After 27 years of operation in the US, Suzuki has announced that it will stop selling new automobile in the States though it will continue offering motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and boat motors. American Suzuki Motor, the wholly owned U.S. distribution unit, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Suzuki
  21. [extract] With several teaser images of its new crossover concept, Suzuki has recently promised that they will showcase the concept at the Paris Motor Show. The concept is known as the S-Cross and from the teaser images, we could see that the S-Cross looks rather fresh and with a modern outlook. But enough of the teaser images because the concept has been unveiled and the S-Cross definitely looks great. Suzuki has infused its new styling language, which the company calls
  22. [extract] About a month ago, Suzuki showed the world a couple of images of its upcoming S-Cross crossover concept. One of the images was a sketch of the concept and the other, a computer rendered-image. Now, Suzuki has teased us with another image of the vehicle and it is of the rear end of the vehicle. Suzuki did not give us much clues on the concept

  24. Suzuki Motor Corporation may not be the biggest Japanese automaker in terms of production volume but its automobile division still manages to do rather well in some parts of the world especially Asia and Europe. But they still lack sales in big and important markets such as the United States. The reason stated above is probably why Suzuki is showcasing a concept car at the upcoming Paris Auto show which will begin on the 27th of September this year. The concept is known as the S-Cross; a compact crossover model. The Suzuki S-Cross crossover concept embodies an "Emotion x Quality x Aerodynamics" design theme, which is typified by distinctive dynamic lines that start on the front bumper, sweep across the doors, and continue to the rear of the body. The concept's design elements suggest stability and solidity also help create a cutting-edge crossover look. Not many details were given about the Suzuki S-Cross except for the above pictures and it is rumoured that the S-Cross will replace the aging Suzuki SX4. Another confirmed report about the concept is that Suzuki has mentioned that the S-Cross concept will eventually make its way into production. It is just a matter of time on how the final design of the car will look like and also, if the S-Cross name will stay.
