  4. Researchers at A*STAR have developed a system to help car drivers navigate junctions safely by voicing out cautions. The system in the car will get signals from sensors installed at junctions that will inform drivers of any approaching pedestrian or vehicle. A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) said the system can detect the speed of all vehicles at the traffic junction and warn drivers of impending collision. It is now on a year-long trial -- from February 2014 to end-2014 -- to study the feasibility of using advanced technology to enhance traffic junction safety. Currently, only a pair of sensors is installed along Jurong East Ave 1 and Toh Guan Road. Dr Jaya Shankar P, programme head of intelligent transport systems at I2R, said: "This system can potentially go into the next generation in-vehicle unit. The next generation systems, based on connected vehicles that allow car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communications, would be fitted with the appropriate radios and even screens for drivers to view, and we believe that this would actually benefit the drivers and could be potentially fitted into this system." 5. My Infiniti Q50 doesnt seem to have an aftermarket legal exhaust or muffler kit in singapore. or at least no workshop seems to have it. Ive enquire overseas and there are at least 3 manufacturers that make them but all seems to don't have a reseller here. one of the japanese manufacturer even have Jasma certification but i asked a famous exhuast workshop if they willing to get approval , but they rejected. is there any other way to get after market exhaust /muffler system approved? seems like a very grey area by LTA.... not very encouraging for people to want to comply with the law. need advice from experienced brothers here.... any workshop interested to carry a japanese brand of exhaust that works with lexus, bmw, lambo, merc and infiniti?

  7. Hi all, I watched a Youtube video on Legend and they have this feature that I thought is pretty useful. It works this way: 1.The door lock automatically release without the need to press the remote key when you are near the door. Helpful, if your hands are occuppied and digging out the keys from the pocket is troublesome. 2. The door will not be locked if you place your car keys in the car. Good feature if you accidentally left your car keys in the boot and you close it without noticing it. Just wonder whether got such feature that we can get from 3rd party alarm system? Do you know? Thank you. Regards,

  13. Hi! Do anyone here use the Eonon In car entertainment system? Any reviews for the system? http://www.eonon.com/ I saw quite a few great reviews on Youtube and I realised all of them are actually Caucasians. Seems like Eonon is still not that popular in Asia even though its a Hong Kong Company. Price wise, its not exactly cheap, but with all the functions in place, it seems pretty value for the money you spent! I recently got a Android Set (GA5151W) from them and the shipment should arrive by this week! Will show you guys some photos of it after i get it installed!
  14. This should be a sticky. Any mods with powers here can do it. Prepare thyself! 1. Distilled water. Lots of it. Maybe 20-30L if you are anal. If not, tap water will do. 2. Soft Nylon brushes. 3. Readily available tap and hose. 4. Low bucket. 5. Wear a long-sleeved workshirt or if you can, have a special heat resistant gloves that extend up to the entire length of your lower arm. Cleaning the radiator system 1. With the hose connected to a tap, spray water onto the radiator and the fans. Don't worry the system can be wet. Some dead bugs and stones might be stuck on it. Remove them with the soft nylon brushes. 2. You might like to use a bucket of soapy water. Engine bay degreaser might help too. Draining the system 1. Firstly locate the petc0ck. Some are the most difficult positions to reach. Make sure you are wearing long-sleeved T-shirt or something. Your arms don't need Shaolin temple dragon scars. 2. Open the radiator pressure cap. For some cars, the pressure cap is the expansion tank cap. 3. Place a low bucket that can fit under the petc0ck position. Open it and let the coolant leak out. Dispose the coolant down a toilet bowl. Do not pour it down any drain. 4. Remove the expansion tank and empty it of coolant. Wash it and reinstall it back to the system. Rinsing the radiator 1. Close the petc0ck. Fill the radiator with water. Distilled or tap depends on your anality. 2. Once filled. Place the low bucket under the petc0ck position. Open the petc0ck and drain. Discard this waste down the toilet bowl as above. 3. Repeat the above steps 3 more times. You can let the waste be dumped into the drain this time. Rinsing the engine block 1. Close the petc0ck. Fill the radiator with water. Again, distilled or tap depends on your anality. Leave the radiator pressure cap off. 2. Start the engine to bleed the system. Let it run until it reaches operating temperature (when fan kicks in). 3. Turn on your heater and set temperature control to hot. This will circulate the water to the heater core. 4. You will notice that the coolant level has dropped. Don't worry about this. Stop the engine. 5. Place low bucket below the petc0ck position. Drain and discard down the toilet bowl. 6. Repeat the above steps 3 more times. You can let the waste be dumped into the drain this time. Filling and bleeding the system 1. After the last drain from the engine block rinse, close the petc0ck and fill the system with 1/2 the total volume with 100% antifreeze. 2. Start the engine to bleed the system. Let it run until it reaches operating temperature (when fan kicks in). 3. Turn on your heater and set temperature control to hot. This will circulate the water to the heater core. 4. You will notice that the coolant level has dropped. This means the air has bled out of the system. New cars have self-bleeding cooling systems. Fill with water until full. 5. Replace the pressure cap tightly.
  15. The Government's proposals to inject more fairness into the vehicle quota system have whipped up a vigorous debate and initial signs point to more people supporting, rather than opposing, the suggested moves. Motor traders, transport experts and online readers of The Straits Times are largely in favour of the proposal to impose a surcharge on motorists who buy more than one car. Announced by Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew on Thursday, the idea was cheered by many yesterday. Said the president of the Motor Traders Association, Mr Cheah Kim Teck: "In a society like ours, there's just no need for anyone to own more than one car." 17. Just got a new car with stock speakers and Pioneer 2750bt system. If I wanted to get 2 out of 3 (speakers, amp, sub) with budget of $1000, can I get something decent that will give a noticeable improvement? Appreciate any advice. I want to get better sound, but really not sure what to upgrade first and with limited budget. Listen mostly to rock and pop music. Tks!
  18. Hi Folks, Need some help from those car experts here. My car uses a keyless entry/push-start button system. It is factory fitted (JDM). In the last week or so, I started having issues opening doors. Intermittently I'll have to press the door button / keys a few times before the doors will unlock. Today for the first time, my car could not even start! The key could not be detected! Finally after letting the engine rest for a couple of mins, I managed to get it started again. I've changed my key batteries. Confirmed also not the car battery since I changed it only in Feb 2012. What other possibilities are there? Also if the engine can't detect my keys again, what else can I do to get it started so that I can drive it to the workshop? Appreciate your help. Cheers!
  19. Where is a good place to go to integrate iPod to my car's stock sound system? Thanks!
  20. The Straits Times, Published on Nov 06, 2012 No true democracy with [antiquated] US Electoral College system TODAY'S presidential election in the United States raises the question of whether the country is really a democracy with the Electoral College system. Does every vote count? The US uses the Electoral College, which consists of 538 state electors to elect its president. So it is not individual Americans who vote to pick the president, but the 538 electors of the Electoral College. In the 2000 US presidential election, Democrat Al Gore received the popular vote, but lost in the Electoral College vote count to Republican George W. Bush. Technically, Mr Gore won that election as more Americans voted for him than for Mr Bush. This has happened three other times in past US presidential elections. Will it happen again this time? Will the candidate with the popular vote not become the next US president? There cannot be true democracy with the Electoral College system. Cho Yan Fatt Copyright

  24. Hi, Please show how your Driver Information System looks like for your car incl. what kind of info is available for FC. I'll start off with mine. Car: Audi A3 sedan 1.4T (MY '15) Since: about 2 months ago. Single trip (non-peak traffic): 21.9km/L at avg speed of 65km/h over distance of ~35km. Long Term (since I got the car): 17.8km/L at avg speed of 36km/h over distance of ~5700km. Accuracy: ECU overestimate about 0.3 to 0.5km/L compared to manual pump calculation. Overall this car exceeded my most optimistic expectation on fuel economy esp. for a petrol engine. My previous 1.6L Jap car got me around 12-13km/L on the same driving pattern. I can never imagine a car can go over 1000 km per 50L tank under normal driving conditions. And I even turned off the irritating start-stop system which supposed can save more fuel.
  25. Today, 03:44 PM I believe all new and past hdb owner have potex toilet and flushing system installed. If your water keep on flowing from tank to toilet bowl then your dounut shape gasket below the plunger must have spoiled. I manage to found silicone type replacement for potex brand at this place and walaa it stop flowing endlessly. I found mine at rivervale plaze near punggol a hardware shop called hardware 88 trading, i can't believe i can find the exact fix.Anyone thinking of changing without buying a whole cistern can consider.Homefix also have silicone gasket but not suitable for potex cistern as it was too thin and single layer. Another type of leak is the 50cent size washer inside the ball float arm that will cause the refill to flow non stop easy to buy and fix too. . potex a sanitary brand from malaysia installed on new hbd flats a decade ago.i help you hope next time you guys can help me back too.
