  2. Chanced upon a promotional booth for this new line of tyres (maybe not so new considering how slow I am in catching up with motoring developments) in the middle of Orchard Rd today - Potenza S001 by Bridgestone. Direct comparisons are only between it and the Re050 which I have not used before - has anybody fitted these new rubbers yet and if so would you like to share your experience with us here? Currently on the RE11 and thinking of changing soon.. the S001 looks good on paper indeed. Potenza S001

  4. Hi guys, I am driving a Toyota Estima and I am using Dunlop 225/50R18 for my tyres. As per my tyres illustration: I pump up my tyres pressure to 240. Is it the ideal pressure?
  5. guys ..apologize if this has been discussed before please comment on the korean tyres ..am looking at specs 235/45/18 , 240/45/18 and which one is better ..thanks
  6. Guys, just like to warn bros out there about this shop located at stamford tyres. I am a hobbyist groomer and am very careful with the washing and grooming techniques when washing or polishing my car. But as all would know, swirls marks are inevitable. Paint condition of my car is still very new since my car is only about 1 year old. So when i came across this deal at deal.com.sg : http://deal.com.sg/recent-deals/40-sonax-c...minor-scratches I thought i could give it a try since Sonax is pretty well known and there was a 40% saving. Enquired before purchasing the package and was confirmed that the package does defect remover. So took the plunge and bought the package in January 2011 as i wanted to remove the swirl marks on my ride. Sent my car down on march for the grooming.Initially was told that it would require 6 hours for it,but car was done in less than 3 hours. Suspected something was not right,i asked the worker there and they told me that they did only hand polish. Unhappy with it,i called the boss up. He insisted that they did machine polishing until i told him that the worker has already confessed that they did hand polish only. Only then that he admitted it, told me that i should have told them that i wanted swirl remover and that the lighting condition there made it difficult for them to detect the swirls.I told him off straight, they are the professionals and should know how to inspect the paint condition instead of waiting for customers to tell them.Furthermore, the package is a full complete car grooming which was supposed to be sold at $230.Will anyone pay $230 for hand polishing? In the end,the boss agreed to compensate me with a swirl remover session.I reluctantly accepted the offer. Sent my car down last week for the swirl remover session.Took only 2 hours for the whole session as they only did the exterior.I was there when they started to polish my car, only after confirming that the workers used machine polish did i left the place. When collecting the car,it was raining so did not really check the car condition. The next morning under sunlight,to my horror not only did they not remove swirl marks, they inflicted holograms on the whole car.Really give up on the groomer so decided not to pursue the matter further.Just my luck!
  7. I recently collected a new Nissan sylphy. Question 1: The tyres (cpc2) date code are week 40, 2013. That means tyres are more than a year old. Do you guys think this is reasonable, coming from a new car from a major AD? The car manufacturing date is 2014. Question 2: One of the tyres has a different date code from the other 3. This one is week 19, 2014. Is mixing same model tyre but from different manufacturing dates as far as 6 months ok? Thanks for reading and answering. I could not find a thread that is talking about tyres age for new car. Do you guys get 1 year old tyres when you collect your new car?

  11. hi guys, my tyres are due for changing soon. Looking towards long lasting ones with good grip, especially during rain. No need to be sports types, just passenger types will do. Any recommendations on the best brand and model to choose from in Singapore? How is Michelin Primacy HP? There are quite a few i'm more interested in, but all not available in Singapore it seems. For example, Michelin HydroEdge and Goodyear Assurance TripleTred. Wonder why Singapore only import so limited models... And by the way, do the tyres usually come with warranty like 6 years or 60000km?

  14. Hi, Any good recommendation ?
  15. Hi guys, Was recommended this tyres, and feedback on it? The reviews from sgcarmart and other places seems good. Will be putting it on a BMW E60 525. Thanks!
  16. Hi bros, I was offered good price for 2012 made kumho tyres. Is it still considered ok and safe for 2012? Not too old?
  17. Starting this topic to help me choose new tyres. I will also share my experiences with tyres I had used in the past. Car: Honda jazz 1.3 Existing tyres: Some BF Goodrich tyres 195/50/15, 5 mths old These are very noisy tyres, performance is ok. But I need quiet comfortable tyres and I drive very non-aggressively. Tyres I had used before, all 195/50/15 or 195/55/15 size: Bridgestone GR80 and GR90: Meets my comfort requirements and performance no issue. Expensive, and I prefer to try tyres I had not used before. Hankook v12evo: Performance ok, very noisy Goodyear efficient grip: Good comfort tyres, but it suffered from cracks after about 1 year. My conclusion is that the cracks were caused by some tyres foam spray that I used which contains sillicon. Some articles say do not use sillicon on rubber tyres as they can cause drying and cracking. See my thread http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2689385-need-advice-tyre-has-cracks/ I am thinking of using 195/60/15 or even 195/65/15 tyres. The "thicker" tyres might give more comfort, is this advisable? Remember that I am non-aggressive driver so the wet/dry performance and cornering (sidewall strength) is less critical. You can guess from the way I reviewed my previous tyres above. Comfort and quietness is everything. Tyres which I have shortlisted: Toyo T1R Continental CCC5, CPC5 What is the difference between these 2? Michellin XM2 Please let me know your opinions, thanks.
  18. What is your opinion of self sealing tyres? would you pay more for such technology in tyres? with this type of tyres, spare tyre would probably not be necessary even on long trips as we can drive to the nearest tyre shop to plug the leak if any. appreciate any comments. thanks.
  19. I was just told by a friend that there are counterfeit tyres sold here in SG. They are usually branded as Michelin or Continental which are made in China but sold off as the originals that are made in Germany or in Europe. Is there any truth to this? Has anyone had an experience with a counterfeit tyre before?
  20. Tyres size 205/60r16. where to find cheap replacements since car scraping in 6mth time. 2nd tyres in Sg or JB cheaper?
  21. Hi i am now driving a lancer ex gt 2.0. Find it very bumpy and uncomfortable on the road especially with so much uneven road nowadays. Current tires - Firestone TZ700 Profile - 225/45/18 Brought on Jan 2014 At first thought its the absorber, so i changed to all 4 original Mitsubishi ones i brought from ming ghee then went for a balancing + camber nut replacement at AESOP but still bumpy as siao Thinking of changing the tires again to increase comfort but in order to get profile walls of 50 and above i will have to downgrade to 17 inch rims (which is good since my 18 is quite worn look) Looking at perfect comfort with occasional harsh driving After reading through i have come to 2 possible tyres that i am considering Bridgestone GR100 and Pirelli CINTURATO P7 So here comes the question If the stock tyres dimension of Lancer EX GT is 215/45/18 then which is the size below that i can actually changed to that is safe? Included below is the calculated speed difference and available size of the tires with the comfort rating (more is better) according to the calculator. 215/50R17 (Speed Difference -0.6km/hr) (Estimated Comfort Rating 5.7) 225/50R17 (Speed Difference 0.9km/hr) (Estimated Comfort Rating 6.4) 215/55R17 (Speed Difference 2.7km/hr) (Estimated Comfort Rating 7.4) 225/55R17 (Speed Difference 4.4km/hr) (Estimated Comfort Rating 8.2) Also is there any 17 inch rims that can actually clear AP Racing Big 4 BBK CP5200? TY all for your input. Much appreciated.
  22. Guys, do you guys have any portable electric tyre inflator** and battery charger to recommend? **My car does not come with spare tyre hence I want to buy for contingency. Thks
  23. hi there ! Just discovered that the front/rear left tyres of my 2002 Renault Classic are nearly botak on the side. But the right set is still quite good. Is it possible to keep the 2 good ones and use as the rear wheels while I get 2 new (diff brands) ones for the front? Please advise. Current set is Continental EcoContact while i'm thinking of getting 2 new BridgeStone GR80. appreciate if anyone know of good lobangs for the wheels too. Thanks !
  24. Anyone used SSW rims from Stamford Tyres before? How's the build quality and handling? Was quoted $340 for a set of 4 (15inch x 6.5) matt black rims. The picture and specs of the rims are in the link below. Was told that i could buy a set of 4 x Continental Premium Contact 195/55-R15 at $145 per tyre too if i'm interested. http://www.stamfordwheels.com/products_detail.php?id=346
  25. Hi, I am a newbie here... and newbie to car stuff also. My honda jazz 1.4 will be coming in a few days time. I want to change the default rims and tyres to better ones and thus need some advice. Default is 175/65R14, I was thinking to changing to 15" will do. Budget is about 1K+ I read the forum here and is interested in the Falken Azenis ST115 and OZ F1 Cup. Experts please advice if this is okay, how much it cost, where is the best shop to have it change. Also, I can't seem to find from the website the ST115 has 15", is it true? Or are the specs abroad any different. If I change to 15", the specs should be 185/55R15 rite? Is there such a specs or must I change to some other specs? Your advice is much appreciated.
