  1. I witnessed a hit and run by a SMRT taxi in the carpark area of Tampines Blk 424 around 6.10 pm this evening (20 Sep). My car cam captured the SMRT reversing and hitting i think was a silver Chevy Cruze on the front right side. Car cam resolution was not good enough to see the license plate of the taxi. I wanted to give chase to the taxi but was too slow. Sorry to the bro whose car was hit. I have screen shot two photos of the taxi 'in action'. I think got case if lodge complaint with SMRT and ask them to check if any of their taxis was in the vicinity at that time...i think all taxis have GPS positioning and the companies would know the exact whereabouts right? Hope the photos help.
  2. A drunk woman attacked a taxi driver on the SLE, near Upper Thomson Road, forcing the taxi driver to abandon his vehicle on the 2nd lane. She then got of the taxi and stopped 2 cars on the expressway. According to eyewitnesses, the woman was seen slumped on the hood of a black car, and also broke the windscreen wiper. She later got up and stopped another white car. Incident happened on Sunday around 1.45am http://news.omy.sg/News/Local-News/story20150914-373771
  3. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/get-inspired/heroic-strangers-try-rushing-pregnant-woman-to-sgh-but-end-up-helping-her-deliver-baby#xtor=CS1-2 No Taxi! Baby coming out! Uncle Syed helps out . . . . . Stomper Sufian shared how his uncle Syed and aunt had an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience when they helped a woman deliver a baby in their car today (Jul 22). Syed had recounted the incident -- which occurred at around 9.40am -- on Facebook, which Sufian alerted Stomp to. In a phone interview with Stomp, Syed said that he had been seeing a doctor at Bukit Panjang and was about to leave, when he and his wife noticed the pregnant woman lying by the side of the road. She was experiencing labour pains. The woman's husband then told Syed that they were waiting for a cab to get them to the hospital. However, they were either ignored or turned down by taxi drivers despite having waited for an hour. Syed then offered to drive the couple to Singapore General Hospital (SGH). In his Facebook post, he described how he tried rushing them to the hospital. Due to the morning traffic, they were unable to reach their destination on time, and the woman ended up giving birth to a girl in Syed's car. "A new life was born inside MY car," wrote Syed in his Facebook post. He also praised his wife for pushing aside her fear of blood and dislike of "slimy substances" to help the woman deliver her baby. Syed told Stomp, "We were so happy and thankful when the baby started to cry," adding that they had been worried for the baby's condition. "The husband didn't know what to say other than thank you, and I told him it's okay as long as both mother and baby were safe." Syed, his wife and the couple reached SGH about 15 minutes later, where both mother and daughter received medical attention. Sufian told Stomp:
  4. anyone take her taxi before?
  5. What is wrong with taxi drivers nowadays? Terrible, terrible, terrible ! So fed-up I sent the following complaint to SMRT. Wait till I get my in-car video camera and next time when such incidents happen again, I will send the video recordings straight to the Traffic Police. ========================================== To: SMRT I am writing to lodge a complaint against SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968 U. On 13 Oct 2013, at approximately, 6:16pm, I was Bukit Batok West Ave 3 traffic junction (Lane 2), waiting to turn right into Bukit Batok Road. I was the first vehicle. On my right (Lane 1) was SMRT taxi SHB 5968 U, also the first vehicle. When the traffic light turned green in our favour, both our vehicles proceeded to turn right. However, the SMRT taxi SHB 5968 U, instead of turning from lane 1 into the corresponding lane 1, dangerously turned into my turning lane (lane 2) instead, almost causing a near accident terrible accident. I had to immediately jam-brake and blare my horn to register the danger. The SMRT taxi driver (SHB 5968 U) was unhappy with being horned at and tailed me to the next traffic light. He stopped next to my car (it was red light), wound down his window, and I wound down my front passenger window (where my wife was seated - behind were my young children). He made some hand gestures and I told him he should turn properly from lane 1 into the corresponding lane 1. He then made some smuck facial expressions that he saw nothing wrong with his driving, before flashing his middle-finger at both my wife and myself. He then sped off. We travelled along the same direction and over at Brickland Road traffic light junction, when it was red light, i managed to take a photo of the SMRT taxi concerned (SHB 5968 U). I am registering my complaint specifically on the following: 1) Dangerous and inconsiderate driving by SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968 U - turning from a lane 1 turning lane into a lane 2 turning lane and almost resulting in an accident. 2) Rude and unbecoming behavior with the flashing of his middle-finger at my wife and myself I encourage SMRT to review the in-cab video camera of SMRT taxi SHB 5968U and its black-box, if any (I understand Comfort delgro cab installs such devices). It will show very clearly how your SMRT driver drove so dangerously and inconsiderately. I saw that there were passengers in the taxi as well. I encourage SMRT to try and contact them and i am sure, they can verify how your SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968U had flashed his middle-finger, unprovoked. The relevant illustration and photo is attached for reference. I am extremely appalled and troubles over this callous and dangerous SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968U. He had not only shown his lack of understanding of prevailing driving rules, but also displayed an unbecoming behavior that speaks so negatively of SMRT, an established Singapore public transport and service provider. I would like SMRT to investigate this matter and I do sincerely demand an explanation as well as SMRT's follow-up actions taken against this terrible driver of SMRT SHB 5968U. I look forward to SMRT's prompt update. Thank you. 6. Hi, my brother's car was hit by a taxi last Friday night, 12 June 2015, at about 11.15pm, 34 South Bouna Vista Road. Taxi stopped at the road side. My bro filter right to pass him then he suddenly turn right to the shophouses without checking and my bro hit onto him after jamming break. Now, the taxi driver wants to claim insurance and put all the blame on my bro. So, I'm seeking for any witnesses who were there to come forward with video evidence. Appreciate your help. Thank you!

  11. The number of illegal parking and road obstruction summons issued to its taxi drivers has significantly increased, the National Taxi Association (NTA) said in a media release on Friday (Apr 17). It said the number rose from a "negligible" figure during the period of June 2013 to March 2014 to 280 in the same period ending March this year. These summons were issued to taxi drivers who dropped off or picked up commuters in areas installed with the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras. NTA added that the spike was especially evident in mature estates, where facilities such as markets, polyclinics and shops are often located near areas where the cameras are installed. In these areas, taxi drivers and commuters continue to pick up, hail, drop off and alight in these areas out of convenience. Taxi drivers who are caught on camera can receive summons of up to S$130 and three demerit points. Said NTA: "This could lead to the suspension of taxi drivers’ licenses, which will affect the income and livelihood of taxi drivers." TISSUE PACKETS TO FEATURE GUIDELINES FOR COMMUTERS NTA revealed it plans to tackle this rise in summons with a series of campaigns promoting awareness among taxi drivers and commuters on road safety practices - starting with the distribution of 10,000 packets of tissue paper printed with guidelines on how to safely hail or alight a taxi. NTA Executive Advisor Ang Hin Kee, who will participate in giving out the collaterals to members of the public along Rochor Road outside Fu Lu Shou Complex, said taxi drivers have informed him that they get caught for waiting at areas with cameras because passengers often identify these as pick-up points when booking a taxi, and when they choose a cashless mode of payment, which takes a longer time. Drivers have also given Mr Ang feedback that there are passengers who insist on dropping off at no-stopping zones to avoid the long queues at taxi stands. “I think it is important that both taxi drivers and commuters are aware of such implications, so that neither taxi drivers nor commuters are affected by the new implementation,” said Mr Ang. SMRT taxi driver Colin Neo feels that the campaign will be useful: “Many of us try our best to pick up or drop off our passengers at locations that are of convenience to (them). But when we are not able to, not all commuters understand the reasons. "While we try to explain to them why we cannot pick up or drop off passengers at various locations, such as CCTV camera-controlled areas, it will definitely be very helpful if people are aware of these regulations. This way, commuters understand the road safety regulations, and we are happy to provide a good service.” NTA says it plans to distribute the collaterals to other areas with the CCTV cameras installed, through taxi leaders and other taxi drivers. 14. http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/caught-camera-passenger-hurls-abuse-cabby Angry that such idiots exist in Singapore. Even if one is a paying customer, there is a more dignified way to talk to the cabby. I think some other forums have CSIed the passenger liao.... Old people will say this sort really "bo ka sih"....ill disciplined.

  16. Hi Guys, Just wanna spread and share the news of this "Unlicensed Taxi Driver" so you can warn any of ur beloved friends/relatives when they came to Singapore. Personally, one of my oversea friend came to singapore 3 weeks ago (just before CNY) also kanna this type "unlicensed taxi" too. Btw, my friend is NOT the poster of this link. Though cannot say is this particular guy, as my friend thought (being bluffed) he was an official taxi driver. But my friend was charged $45 from Robertson Quay Hotel to Alexandra Ikea area, fixed price. Only after my friend checked with me, then we realised something was not right, but that was too late. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1011898362172154&set=a.389305291098134.105936.100000559982993&type=1
  17. That's a statement not a question for a reason. It's true. Singaporean taxi drivers are the world's worst. I love living in Singapore but the one thing that winds me up no end is taxi drivers lack of ability to do their basic job, take me from point a to point b. First question they always ask when you get in a cab, which way do you want to go. Now they don't ask this as they do in other countries where they may be asking for the choice of directions that the customer wants to go. No, in Singapore they ask because they have no idea how to get to the destination. If I hear one more time, "I'm new, I don't know the way" when getting in a cab I will scream. My response is twofold 1) you're not new to Singapore you have lived here all your life and 2) it's your bloody job to know the way! If someone came to me in my marketing job and said I would like some marketing advice please and I then turned around and said well what do you think because I haven't got a clue, what would happen? The client would walk out and not pay me. In a Singapore taxi this happens 75% of every one of my journeys. There is no excuse. Newness to the roll is pathetic. They are not new to Singapore, they must know the way. If they do not why are they taking up a job as a taxi driver? 19. Dear MCF bros, Got into an accident with a comfort taxi this evening (12th February 2015) at approx 1940 hrs at the intersection of Irrawaddy Road and Thomson Road, within the yellow box. Would like to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the accident and/or have captured this in your in-car camera, to come forward for assistance, please. My camera has chosen very conveniently to fail on me in this instance. Mods - Please shift this to an appropriate section if this isn't the right one. Thanks! Best Regards, Leslie Lai
  20. I've never understood why anyone will sit on roadside kerbs. It's so dangerous and things like this can happen to you. Are they really so unaware of the potential dangers? ======= Taxi driver fined $4,000 and banned from the road after reversing into student By Elena Chong SINGAPORE - An elderly taxi driver who reversed into a student and pinned her under his car was fined $4,000 and banned from driving for three years on Monday. Thow Ngok Sen, 69, had been performing a u-turn when he changed his mind and reversed, and backed into 22-year-old Ms Abigail Ow Hui Xia who had been sitting on a kerb at a Bishan bus stop with her boyfriend. He mounted the kerb and ran into her as she tried to get out of the way, knocking her over. A passer-by told Thow to move his cab forward to free her but his tyre ran over her thigh. Ms Ow spent two months in hospital for spinal injuries and fractures to her pelvic area and now cannot walk unaided.
