  1. My fren recently took a SQ flight to London Heathrow. He checked in his suitcase at T3, and hand-carried his guitar (in a solf guitar 'bag'). Just before boarding the plane, the xiao mei mei in kebaya told him to turn back and 'surrender' his guitar+bag to the boarding counter so that it can be placed somewhere else on the plane instead of following my fren to the cabin. My fren has travelled between UK / SIN many times before, hand-carrying his guitar, so he told the xiao mei mei so and asked her to let him bring the GTR into the cabin. But the XMM rejected his request. My fren LL and reluctantly handed over the guitar but made it clear to XMM+ground crew that it's a fragile item and they must take care of it, and the ground crew stuck a few 'FRAGILE' stickers on the GTR bag and took it away from my fren. .......15 hours later at Heathrow baggage claim convery belt, my fren picked up the GTR bag but found the guitar in two pieces!!! As the flight's arrival at Heathrow was delayed, and my fren needed to rush to catch the coach to bring him to another town, he rushed off with the broken GTR to catch the coach which was about to leave the airport. My take: Before the flight took off from TS, the ground crew recognised+acknowledged that the GTR bag needed the "FRAGILE" stickers for obvious reason. Somewhere between T3 and Heathrow Airport (London) the GTR was damaged. SIA should take responsibility for the damage. Whether SIA goes after T3 cargo handling team or Heathrow cargo handling team is a matter between these three parties, my fren should be compensated by SIA as the unfortunate incident happened on a SQ flight. However, SIA will put up a defence: there's no proof that the GTR was damaged between TS and Heathrow, it could have been damaged after it left the conveyor belt at Heathrow!! It's my fren's words against SIA/TS/Heathrow's..... (too bad he didnt report the damage at Heathrow before leaving the baggage claim area) Conclusion: No case What do you think??

They are on bail now. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/singaporesc...-044314363.html one of the reader's comments: Wah. Singapore really very smart. To import such "talented people". Option broker? pls, I have enough friends who are are really talented in the world of option and stocks, tell me one same thing. These so call talented imported talent are nothing but trash. Always only know to cause trouble to co workers and stealing their clients. Personally, I am a property agent, and i have encounter several so call ang moh talented. When they appoach me and say they wish to join me as a property agent, they always say how good hey are, how talented they are, what are the connection they have. I always say the same thing to them when they tell me all this. I tell them: "IF YOU ARE REALLY SO TALENTED AND HAS SO MANY CONNECTION, YOU WILL NOT APPOACH ME. I WILL BE THE ONE WHO APPOACH YOU. ANYWAY THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. I RATHER LOSE YOU SO CALL " TALENTED PERSON " THAN RECRUIT YOU AND MAKE ALL MY "NOT SO TALENTED" PROPERTY AGENTS UPSET BECAUSE I KNOW YOUR KIND, NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. 4. Hi guys, I've considered about starting this thread for a long time... In the end, I felt that I should let everyone know about what happen... Not to complaint/blackmail but just to share.. I bought my set of RS3 from hankook (one of their highest range, I believe) in last oct. 3 months after installing them, I realize my car is alittle bumpy when cruising at slow speed (50-80). I thought it was my suspension setup thus I went back to my workshop (I am currently one of the employee there) but it was found out to be my tyres which has bumps on them (3 out of 4). The bumps appear on a single spot on the tyres individually. I called the sales guy and he asked me to drive down and let him have a look. I went down and after inspection, they agreed that they are some issues with my tyres which they cannot determine the cause at that point of time. I waited 2 months for the hankook korean "engineer" to make his trip down and he will decided the next course of action. The final verdict is HANKOOK do not warranty uneven wear on their tyres, even when they are not sure what could be the cause of it. They sort of blame it on my car's hardware but if so, the bumps would be all around the tyres and not just that single spot. PS I used to be on 17" v8rs and it serve me well for 16 months on the exact same car with same h/w. I am utterly disappointed by this and sadly after 5 years of hankook supporter, I will be changing and NEVER going back again.

  8. Think twice before you speed By S Ramesh | Posted: 07 June 2011 0956 hrs SINGAPORE: The Police have started trials of a new mobile automated vehicle screening system. The system is used to capture vehicle registration plates using special digital cameras for identifying vehicles of interest. These include vehicles reported stolen or involved in criminal activities. The cameras are mounted on top of police vehicles and is able to read vehicle registration plates while the police vehicle is stationary during road blocks or on the move during patrols. Police say the new system cuts down manual recording processes and improves productivity. The new system was exhibited at the Police workplan seminar on Tuesday. - CNA/ck http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1133665/1/.html

  11. Come 2015 or 2016 ............... CNA News : Tenders to develop new ERP system awarded SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded tenders for trials to develop the next generation of the electronic road pricing (ERP) system. What's being explored is a satellite-based method for road tolls, which reduces dependence on physical ERP gantries. Four groups of companies have secured the tenders. They are Kapsch TrafficCom AB, MHI Engine System Asia and NCS, ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems) and IBM Singapore, and Watchdata Technologies as well as Beijing Watchdata System. Each group will be given seed funding of S$1 million to develop and demonstrate technological solutions. The 18-month trials starts next month. LTA said it will assess the performance of the various solutions at the end of the trial, to determine whether an appropriate technological solution is available and can form the basis of a next generation ERP system. It added the development of the project is in its very early stages and that the next generation ERP system, if technically feasible, is still some years away before it is ready to be launched and implemented. As reported in today ST, that will be in 2015 or 2016, the new ERP system will be implemented.

  17. how many seats do you think the opposition will get?
  18. The word is think. So it can be based purely on opinions and generalizations. I havent been to many ADs but i think, for me, Audi will be most arrogant. Went for a test drive of the A1 yesterday, and the salesman totally bochup me during the entire test drive and explanation after it.
  19. Will it happen?
  20. Please kindly feel free to s c r e w ed me with your opinion 1. Why we assume that the ruling party has the right formula and Singapore is successful provide the OPPOSITION DOES NOT GET IN? WHY DOESNT IT OCCUR TO US THAT IF OPPOSITION HAD GOTTEN INTO PARLIAMENT EARLIER, SINGAPORE MAY EVEN BE MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN IT IS NOW. 2. Is it right for TPL (I dont know what to say) to get into parliament automatically without a fair fight to proven her self worth while there is a HIGH CHANCE THAT HONORABLE CITIZENS LIKE DR ANG YG, LOW TK, CSM, VW, NICOLE SEAH CANNOT GET IN? 3. Why the noise about george yeo, when the ruling party gambled using HIM in the GRC to calculate their chance of winning? If he loose, we cannot blame the opposition party as the people have spoken? 4. CST - he is a living national hero, who sacrifice and fight for us Singaporeans, why should we allow him to win? Singaporeans have already given MM face by giving him a walkover, CST on the other hand, similarly like JBJ can be called among the founder of the opposition party, shouldnt we allow him to be in parliament as a symbol of democracy. How unfair, we have army general who kee cheiw and TPL who i dont what to say into parliament? Who do we respect and think who carry weight? 5. Why question about people's qualification by MM? MY criteria - is the will and heart to serve the people of Singapore. 6. If the ruling party is so popular, why is it that they have to organise tours from RC to their rally site? In other countries this act alone is wrong. Please add if you think there are valid questions?
