  1. JOHOR BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has announced that the Government has decided to implement the Vehicle Entry Permit fee for all foreign vehicles entering Johor. Najib said that the decision was made following a request made by the state. "I have discussed the matter with Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and have also informed Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Wahid Omar of our decision. "I have instructed him to inform the Road Transport Department (JPJ) so they can work out the details before the VEP is implemented," he said during a buka puasa event organised by the state Wednesday. "We will make an announcement later on the date of implementation and the rates for the VEP," he said. Najib also assured that a portion of the collection would be channelled to the state Government.
  2. its a 2011 toyota camry currently on Michelin Energy XM2. 215/60R16 95H. need to change all 4 tyres since its been like 4 years already. not sure what tyres to change to so just here to get some recommendations. Thanks!
  3. Can I park 2 cars in one MSCP but just paying for one season parking? Example: One car is always be driving in and out on Weekday. Another car for weekend use. If need to use the other car, can I temp transfer the season parking to this car and then transfer again to another car after coming back?
  4. Looks like everyone's going GT racing soon BMW NISSAN and now TOYOTA!
  5. "Red light stop, green light go" is a basic and universal traffic rule. Heck. Even if you live under a rock, the viral Netflix show 'Squid Game' would have taught you otherwise. Sadly, two 'ah-bengs' and one of their 'zha-bor' simply couldn't understand this simple traffic rule and got into multiple confrontations with a lorry driver. Watch it here: What Happened? Two 'ah-bengs' and a woman blatantly jaywalked in front of oncoming traffic at Victoria Road. The lorry they obstructed honked them for their blatant disregard for road safety. And boy, oh boy, did that honk shatter both their fragile ego. Compensating For Their Shattered Ego Both 'ah-bengs' immediately gestured at the lorry driver with their hands to signal to the lorry driver, "What's your problem?!" 'Ah-beng' #1 in the long pants, then threw a lit cigarette at the lorry, but it rebounded and hit him in the face. Meanwhile, ah-beng' #2 in shorts made an intimidating action of wanting to 'rush' towards the lorry, only to be held back by his 'zha-bor'. As the lorry drove down the road slowly, 'ah-beng' #1 continued walking alongside the lorry while shouting at the driver. Just then, he suddenly jumps and attempts to spit inside the lorry, only to lose his balance and fall ass-first onto the road. NGL, it is hilarious that he acts all tough but can't do something as simple as jumping without falling over. The lorry driver then proceeded to stop at the curbside and settle with those uncouth beings. Unfortunately, what happened afterwards remain unknown, as the video ends after the lorry driver opens his door. A Lesson To Learn A takeaway from this incident would be to get yourself a woman who stops you from doing stupid shit. Unless, of course, your woman is a 'Karen' like the one in this viral incident: In that case, GLHF! You might end up getting arrested for doing stupid shit like the Bentley driver. Netizens' Comments 🤷‍♂️ In a nutshell. You never hear meh? Bentley driver kena arrested liao. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 6. How fast can can a Toyota Estima go? Any brother here driving one. I was going home on SLE last night and i saw a Estima going definately more than 150Km per hour. I was going at 130 ++ and the Estima just zoom pass me and pull away so quickly even though i was already clocking 130 ++. Sweat > I mean a MPV to go at such high speed is a bit hiong right? Somemore no scare camera?
  7. Some would say that he got instant car-ma for disregarding the rules. In a short clip posted on New Year’s Day, an elderly cyclist boldly crosses a traffic junction when the light is still red. The cyclist then gets a nasty surprise when a white Toyota Corolla crashes into his bicycle. Hopefully, the uncle learns his lesson and will heed the traffic rules from now on. Who is at fault if a driver hits a jaywalking pedestrian? According to the Road Traffic Rules, if a pedestrian crosses any place other than a pedestrian crossing, they shall yield the right of way to vehicles. The same applies to mobility vehicle users, PMD riders and cyclists. However, at any controlled crossing, pedestrians have the precedence to free and uninterrupted passage over the crossing by drivers of vehicles approaching the crossing. It should be noted that this only applies when pedestrians are crossing in the same direction as moving traffic. Pedestrians shall not travel in any other direction unless they can do so without interfering with the lawful movement of traffic. Even though the driver has the right of way, personal injury lawyers have noted that the driver may still be held liable for any bodily injury claim from the pedestrian. This includes payment for their present and future medical bills, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and lost wages. If the pedestrian is found guilty of jaywalking, they could be held partially at fault for the accident. However, drivers are considered more at fault in a jaywalking accident if there was an opportunity to avoid the accident and didn’t take it. While it is tricky to ascertain who is at fault here, the cyclist should not have crossed the road on a red light and the driver should have slowed down when entering the junction. This applies even when the light is green for the driver, as one might not be able to react in time if jaywalkers are crossing. Netizens’ reactions That's right! It doesn't matter if you are a pedestrian or a driver, everyone must adhere to the rules. 😤 When you think about it, it really isn't fair for drivers, even when they have the right of way. It's tough being a driver. 😭 Hope the driver didn't injure himself from braking too hard! 😅 ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 8. Since young, our parents will constantly remind us time and time again to always check for traffic before attempting to cross the road. Unfortunately, all these bits of advice seem to enter and exit this jogger's ears, without the organ in between his ears retaining any advice. Watch this short clip to find out why: What Happened? The cam car and a Toyota Harrier formed up on the left lane of a two carriageway road. A man clad in a perspiration-soaked Army singlet walks along the pavement from a distance. As he approaches the cam car and Toyota Harrier, the traffic light turns green in both cars' favour. Instead of stopping by the grass patch and checking for oncoming traffic, the man simply hops onto the road and attempts to illegally dash across the road. At this moment, a Toyota Prius drives past the cam car and almost collides with the pedestrian. As a result, the pedestrian performs an "e-brake" to stop himself and does an odd dance-like action. Luckily, the oncoming Toyota Prius also performed an e-brake and avoided colliding with the pedestrian. After this encounter, the pedestrian takes his own sweet time and nonchalantly "jogs" across the road while navigating around several vehicles. Too Shag To Think Logically? Is saving those few minutes spent waiting for the green man so important that it is more important than one's life? The more time I spend dwelling on this incident, the more ridiculous this pedestrian becomes. Netizens' Comments No wonder he got the audacity to perform such an act. Looking at his face, I think he just woke up lah. During National Service, he's the type of guy that your Encik will call blur f@#k!! ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 10. To be honest with y'all, I have lost count on the number of blog articles that I wrote that involved obnoxious cyclists. Truth be told, I have always believed that not every cyclist on the road is an ill-mannered, road-senseless prick...until now. This video is why I have formally lost faith in cyclists in Singapore: What Happened? A Toyota Vios driver honked a cyclist at a filter lane for apparently 'chionging' out without checking for oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, the honk cannot be heard in the dashcam footage. Moments later, the cyclist rode up to the Toyota Vios at a red light to confront the driver. Upon dismounting from his bicycle, a heated exchange ensued between the cyclist and the Toyota driver. And yes, you won't be disappointed with the exchange; skip to 0:12 and 0:16 to hear the magical words! The Ultimate Black Sheep Of The Community This cyclist is the final evolution of cyclists, literally the worst type anyone can encounter. At 0:28, the cyclist blatantly disregarded his safety by 'chionging' out from a filter lane WITHOUT looking for oncoming traffic. At 1:50, the cyclist performed a sudden swerve in the last lane without checking for traffic, which could have caused a collision with the motorcyclist behind him. And unsurprisingly, at 2:05, he decides to hog the last lane by choosing not to ride closest to the left-hand edge of the road, leaving the BMW driver be like: Popular Opinion Regardless, cyclists should not be on the road if he/they cannot accept being honked by other road users. After all, honking is not a tool used for scolding or berating others. Instead, it is meant to inform or alert others to avoid a potential accident. Netizens' Comments This is what you get as a lack of accountability. 🤭 Especially those wearing green, pink and light blue. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 11. TL;DR – A Toyota Yaris driver makes a wide turn, ends up on opposing lane upsetting a couple of motorcyclists who made gestures at him. Unhappy, the driver confronts them and even takes out a weapon from his car. This incident happened earlier today (2nd August 2021). A road raging Toyota Yaris driver whips out a weapon from his car in anger and it’s all been recorded on video! Here’s the video for your viewing pleasure. What right do you have to be angry sir? At the start of this 94-second video, we see a red Yaris making a wide turn and ending up on the opposing lane. He’s clearly in the wrong from the get go, so what right has he got to be angry? Gangsta uncle The motorcyclist reportedly made a gesture at the Yaris which infuriated the driver. If I’m not wrong, I heard the uncle say To which the biker replies Followed by short inaudible dialogue and a long uncomfortable silent stare down. The motorcyclist in front, presumably a friend tries to step in to defuse the situation. But does that help? Nope. Uncle has a weapon, I repeat, Uncle has a weapon! The uncle goes to his car to take out a weapon. Is that a fishing rod? Maybe it’s a golf club? Someone said it looks like a Samurai sword but I’m going to go with fishing rod. A lady tries to calm the angry Uncle but it did not seem to work. The video then cuts off leaving us to wonder what the heck happened after. Online Chatter I think anyone’s lj would tbh. All plausible scenarios Want to know what I think? I think if you’re in the wrong, and you know you’re in the wrong, just shut the hell up and go on your way. See la, now you’re going to be famous. 12. Integrity is an essential character-building value that requires one to be accountable and accept responsibility for his/her actions. Essentially, it can be understood as "doing the right thing, even when no one is looking". Unfortunately for this couple, integrity means nothing to them. Watch this video to find out why: The Backstory The owner of the Mini Cooper returned to the Multi-storey carpark (MSCP), only to discover her damaged Mini Cooper. A gentleman, the eyewitness, informed her that the Toyota Corolla beside her reversed into her car twice while parking. Later, she learned that the kind eyewitness had waited in the carpark because a note that he placed on the Mini Cooper, which contained his personal contact information, had gone missing. Shortly after, the couple driving the Toyota Corolla, AKA the culprits, returned to the MSCP. After the Mini driver confronted them, the couple acted blur and brushed her off. The husband allegedly turned aggressive and shouted at the Mini driver, "I pay lah, what's the big deal? I pay!", only to be instructed by his wife to get into the car and ignore the Mini driver. Even when the Mini driver was on a call with the Traffic Police and instructed them to stay until TP arrived at their location, the couple ignored and attempted to drive off. Unfortunately for the couple, their attempt was caught in the above video. Attempted To Run Her Over In the process of preventing the couple from driving off, the Mini driver stood in front of the Toyota Corolla. However, the driver continued to drive off, endangering the victim's life. The Consequence Under section 84 of the Road Traffic Act, the driver at fault is liable to perform the following: Stop their vehicle. Provide their personal information to the accident victim(s), including passengers or pedestrians, upon request. Report the accident to the police within 24 hours. Provide assistance if the accident involves injury or death to another person. Do not move the vehicle(s) involved in the accident. To all those reading this article, please do not endanger your life in the process of retaining a hit and run culprit - Your safety is of paramount importance. Netizens' Comments Somemore bo ji to own up to their own mistakes. If you have a solid parking technique, you won't have to rely on reverse cameras😉 This couple really ownself pwn ownself. I guess you can add "Dangerous driving - Driving against the flow of traffic" to the list of traffic charges. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 13. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a38212473/cheap-part-that-starts-every-lexus-lfa/ <The $7 Part That Starts Every Lexus LFA The Lexus LFA was one of the last supercars to use a physical key to start—and the ignition switch is shared with the lowly Tercel. The keyed ignition switch is nearly a thing of the past. Today, even base-model economy cars are showing up with keyless push-button start. But it wasn’t so long ago that even top-end cars had traditional metal keys. One of the most recent examples is the Lexus LFA, an otherworldly supercar built from cutting-edge carbon fiber-reinforced polymer and powered by one of the best sounding engines in the history of the automobile. And yet, to start that V-10 engine, you have to twist an ignition switch with utterly humble roots. Welcome to The Parts Department, where we follow basic car components to their strangest destinations. Toyota part No. 84450-12200 is a keyed ignition switch that was nearly ubiquitous in the automaker’s North American products starting in the mid-Nineties. It first appeared in the dashboards of cars like the Tercel and Paseo before spreading to the rest of the Toyota and Lexus lineups over the next decade and a half. At its peak, this ignition switch was used in almost every Toyota and Lexus made in the early 2000s, before slowly dropping off as push-button ignitions were introduced. Around 2010, it seemed like the switch was done for good in the Lexus lineup. The only Lexus left that used 84450-12200 was the aging SC 430, which was cancelled after the 2010 model year. But then our humble ignition switch reappeared in 2011, in the dashboard of Lexus’s new performance halo, the LFA. The screaming supercar’s key may have been adorned with milled metal and carbon fiber, but it operated the same tumbler found in the lowly Tercel. The LFA’s ignition key and tumbler were dressed up with carbon fiber, but underneath was the same old part. - LEXUS No. 84450-12200 had a much longer life in the Toyota lineup, appearing in the 4Runner up until this year (SmartKey push-button starting finally becomes standard equipment on the SUV for 2022). The ignition switch also appeared in the Scion iQ, TC and xB from 2005 to 2016, when the brand folded. Our friendly ignition switch retails for $114.53 from Toyota and Lexus dealers, but online OEM discount stores typically sell it for just under $80. Thanks to the fact that it’s shared across so many Toyota and Lexus models, the switch is a popular item in the aftermarket, with nearly a dozen companies offering their own versions to fit. The cheapest version, from Ultra-Power, costs less than $7. TOYOTA PARTS While the North American models that use this switch are all familiar names, overseas parts catalogs show that 84450-12200 was used in a wide array of Japanese and European-market vehicles. They range from quirky MPVs like the Toyota Picnic to utilitarian vehicles like the Townace. Built from 1985 to 2007, the cab-over-engine Townace, available as a van, pickup or cube truck, is about as far as you can get from the Lexus LFA supercar—which just goes to show that, even when Toyota was building an ultra-limited-production supercar with a mid-six-figure price tag, the company still relied on its extensive parts bin for reliable, mundane components. Toyota Townace Noah - TOYOTA Much like the manual transmission, traditional metal ignition keys are on their way out. The LFA may have been one of the last supercars with a conventional key-switch ignition. But coincidentally, Toyota was at the forefront of a recent revolution in ignition keys, as one of the first automakers to introduce laser-cut keys. This was one of many innovations that debuted on the 1990 Lexus LS 400, the car that launched the Lexus brand in North America. Toyota started slowly phasing out turn-key ignition in the United States in the mid-2000s. A push-button start switch appeared first on the 2004 Toyota Prius, then spread across the rest of the hybrid lineup. Today, Toyota’s start button is so widespread, it even appears in the company’s race cars: The Lexus RC F GT3 car that I work on as a pit crew member uses the same start button you’d see in a street-legal Lexus, and the Toyota GT86 TCA race car also has a production-style start button. In today’s supercars, you start the engine with a switch, button or knob, usually made of a high-quality metal or composite that echoes the advanced materials found in the body or chassis—and activated by a gorgeously designed electronic key fob in your pocket. It’s nice to know that, not very long ago, a simple and robust key-switch ignition was able to make its way from a humble economy car all the way to the ultimate halo of the Lexus brand.>
  14. Cars that run on hydrogen and exhaust only water vapor are emerging to challenge electric vehicles as the world’s transportation of the future. At auto shows on two continents Wednesday, three automakers unveiled hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to be delivered to the general public as early as next spring. Hyundai Motor Co. will be the first to the mass market in the U.S. It unveiled a hydrogen-powered Tucson small SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show that will be leased to consumers. Honda also revealed plans in Los Angeles for a car due out in 2015. Earlier, at the Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota promised a mass-produced fuel cell car by 2015 in Japan and 2016 in the U.S. Hydrogen cars are appealing because unlike electric vehicles, they have the range of a typical gasoline car and can be refueled quickly. Experts say the industry also has overcome safety and reliability concerns that have hindered distribution in the past. But hydrogen cars still have a glaring downside — refueling stations are scarce, and costly to build. Consumers can expect costs in line with some luxury models. In Tokyo, Toyota promised a price of $50,000 to $100,000, and as close to the lower figure as possible. That’s comparable to its Lexus luxury sedans, but a range that makes the once space-age experiment with fuel cells more credible. Hyundai said it will lease the Tucsons for $499 per month for three years with $3,000 down. And Hyundai is offering to pay the hydrogen and maintenance costs. The company will start leasing in the Los Angeles area, where most of the state’s nine fueling stations are located. California lawmakers have allocated $100 million to build 100 more. Honda wouldn’t reveal any pricing details. Even as battery-powered and hybrid-electric cars took on conventional gasoline models in the past decade, automakers continued research into hydrogen fuel cells, said Paul Mutolo, director of external partnerships for the Cornell University Energy Materials Center. Manufacturers now are limited only by costs and the lack of filling stations, he said. Hydrogen cars, Mutolo said, have an advantage over battery-powered electric cars because drivers don’t have to worry about running out of electricity and having to wait hours for recharging. “It’s very similar to the kind of behavior that drivers have come to expect from their gasoline cars,” he said. Hydrogen fuel cells use a complex chemical process to separate electrons and protons in hydrogen gas molecules. The electrons move toward a positive pole, and the movement creates electricity. That powers a car’s electric motor, which turns the wheels. Since the hydrogen isn’t burned, there’s no pollution. Instead, oxygen also is pumped into the system, and when it meets the hydrogen ions and electrons, that creates water and heat. The only byproduct is water. A fuel cell produces only about one volt of electricity, so many are stacked to generate enough juice. Hydrogen costs as little as $3 for an amount needed to power a car the same distance as a gallon of gasoline, Mutolo said. Source: http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/automakers-roll-out-hydrogen-powered-cars-could-be-headed-to-a-driveway-near-you/2013/11/20/642d7156-5247-11e3-9ee6-2580086d8254_story.html
  15. TL;DR – A stationary Prius at a set of traffic lights in Woodlands suddenly changes to the right lane. The driver then opens his door to reveal a phone in his hand and points the middle finger at cam car. What bizarre behaviour Watch this minute-long video to understand just how bizarre. The exciting bits are in the first 12-seconds (if you have no time to watch the whole thing). Did you spot something? But, because he decided to do something so foolish, cam car caught something interesting. This mofo was using his handphone while driving! Watched the whole video? Naturally, I watched the whole video to see if cam car had done something to ignite the hellfire within the Prius driver. But, there was nothing to support that fact. 17. Think you need a new set of tyres? Just leave it to the professionals at Borneo Motors and Champion Motors to sort it out - you deserve to drive with peace of mind. Text and photos by Goh Zhi Xuan You’ve probably heard and read about this a dozen times, but I’ll reiterate, tyres are the most important part on any wheeled vehicle. Think about it, they are the only point of contact between your car and the road. The tyres are the ones doing the heavy lifting to keep you safe and sound while driving down the roads, and that’s why you would want the best when it comes to them. If you are driving a Lexus, Toyota or Suzuki, here’s some great news. You won’t have much to worry about the tyres on your cars, Borneo Motors (BMS) and Champion Motors (CMS) now offer the most comprehensive tyre protection programme in the industry - Total Tyre Shield. Strict quality control that you can trust There are no better people than the skilled technicians at your Authorised Distributor (AD) to entrust the important job of maintaining your car. Needless to say, when it comes to something as important as tyres, you’ll do well with the same trusted bunch. Trained and certified by the respective manufacturers, experts at your AD would have the intrinsic knowledge on every nook and cranny, and knows just how to keep your car running perfectly and safely. When you entrust your car to the AD you can be sure that only the adequate size and type of tyre for your car will be recommended, ensuring a safe and fuss-free driving experience. With the strict quality control in place as well as the knowledge on proper storage of tyres, you wouldn’t have to worry about the condition of the tyres that you are getting – with BMS and CMS, quality is assured. Exceptional value It’s not just quality that you’ll get, Borneo Motors and Champion Motors are determined to offer the best value to its customers as well. There’s really no need to shop around for tyres when you can get such a great deal with the AD. If you have a preferred brand, you’ll be glad to know that there are several brands of tyres for you to choose from. BMS and CMS works directly with the distributors of the tyre brands, not only does this open up a range of tyres to best fit your needs, it also enables them to minimise your tyre costs. And the cost savings is clear to see - tyres for Toyota and Suzuki cars begin at just $96 per piece. Meanwhile, drivers of Lexus cars can get their new tyres from as low as $160. The best part of getting your new tyres from BMS or CMS, is the Total Tyre Shield programme that you’ll automatically get to enjoy when you purchase a fresh set of tyre from them. Total Tyre Shield allows you to drive with peace of mind What is Total Tyre Shield? Well, think of it as an insurance plan for your tyres. Total Tyre Shield offers unlimited coverage on three important services to ensure the longevity of a set of tyres - puncture repair, rotation and wheel balancing, when you purchase a fresh set of tyres. Encountering punctures on your tyres can be a frustrating experience. If you were to leave it be, and drive on low tyre pressure unknowingly, you will risk damaging your tyres and may even endanger your own life should the tyre fail catastrophically. That is why you should get punctures repaired as soon as possible. While tyres are expected to last between 40,000km and 50,000km, or an average lifetime of three years in normal circumstances, this is only achievable with routine tyre rotation, each time you service your car, to ensure even tyre wear. Do not slight the importance of wheel balancing. An unbalanced wheel can result in many problems, it can result in steering vibration, affecting the handling of your car, it can also cause uneven tyre wear, once again shortening the lifespan of your tyres. When you purchase a fresh set of tyres for your Lexus, Toyota or Suzuki from Borneo Motors or Champion Motors, you won’t have to worry about paying for the maintenance of your car’s tyres - everything you need to stay safe on the road is included with your tyre purchase. Tyres are important, don’t wait any longer. Contact BMS or CMS today to make an appointment for a set of fresh tyres!
  18. https://jalopnik.com/check-out-what-a-toyota-prius-engine-looks-like-after-3-1848018980 <Check Out What A Toyota Prius Engine Looks Like After 303,000 Miles This Prius engine was neglected, but it was still alive and kicking. Screenshot: Speedkar99 / YouTube (Other) A Toyota Prius has joined my shared fleet in what so far is a positive Carvana experience. Since I love knowing all I can about every vehicle in the fleet I’ve been binging all sorts of Prius videos. One of the ones that I’ve come across is a detailed teardown of a high-mileage 2004 Prius engine that looks good, even after some neglect. A few readers have expressed concerns about picking up a Prius with 90,000 miles and expecting to run it 30,000 miles a year. That kind of driving can be hard on a car. Yet, I’ve seen plenty of second and third-generation Prii driving around in taxi service with more than 300,000 miles and still kicking. If, like me, you wonder what the engine of a high-mileage Prius looks like, YouTuber Speedkar99 tore one down and examined its wear. The engine here is a 1.5-liter 1NZ-FXE inline-four from a second-generation Prius with 303,561 miles. This engine uses a low compression ratio and a high expansion ratio. This works by holding the intake valve open longer for a reverse flow of intake air into the intake manifold, simulating an Atkinson-cycle engine. The result is less power but more efficiency, perfect for a hybrid. The 2ZR-FXE uses a similar system. Screenshot: Speedkar99 / YouTube (Other) The YouTuber informs us at the beginning of the video that the engine was running fine without issues before the teardown. The Prius the engine was taken out of was a parts vehicle. Our host tears through the engine, giving us a thorough explanation of how everything works. But we’re here to see how this engine has fared over 17 years, and the video certainly delivers. First up is a tour through the positive crankcase ventilation system and even the throttle body, which presents some dirty build-up and could use some good cleaning. Screenshot: Speedkar99 / YouTube (Other) But the valves appear to be clean thanks to the injectors. Next, we take a peek under the timing chain cover, where things look a little discolored. The YouTuber says that this is likely because the car may have not gotten timely oil changes but even then, there isn’t a lot of wear. Screenshot: Speedkar99 / YouTube (Other) The camshafts and the head also look clean for the mileage they’ve gone through. Screenshot: Speedkar99 / YouTube (Other) Further in the teardown, the YouTuber cracked open the oil pan to reveal a sad sight. Screenshot: Speedkar99 / YouTube (Other) Yep, that’s sludge. They blame the sludge on cheap oil, the cheap oil filter and deferred oil changes. The filter in the oil pump pickup tube appeared to be pretty gunked up and the pistons have some carbon buildup on them. The bigger point of concern for the YouTuber was clogged-up oil control rings on the pistons. Overall, the engine looks pretty good despite some neglect. It’s no wonder why Prii are able to rack up so many miles on their odometers when they appear to be so durable. Still, the sludge build-up is a perfect example of why you should always keep up on your maintenance.>
  19. The feeling of being helpless when you are forced into a corner can be pretty unbearable. Watch the video below to find out what this Toyota driver did when faced with a similar situation: What Happened? This incident happened along Pearl's Hill Road. The Toyota driver (The person filming) went to deliver some goods and came back to a 'boxy' situation where he found his car boxed into a corner. A Lexus ES250 doubled parked and blocked the cam car, preventing him from driving off. The Toyota driver proceeded to call the number displayed on the Lexus' dashboard but to no avail. Moments later, the Lexus driver returned to his car, and this was where turmoil started to brew. The Verbal Exchange To cut matters short, here is the geist of their verbal exchange in English: The argument stopped when a passerby intervened and proceeded to calm the Lexus driver down while guiding him to his car. Here's Some Context Here's a Google Maps screenshot for the uninitiated to show you a better view of where the incident took place. The circled area is the exact location of the incident. Painting A False Perception? The video painted a perspective that the Lexus driver was in the wrong for double parking. But guess what? After looking at the Google Maps screenshot, you will realise that the area where both cars are parked is not meant for parking. It doesn't matter which party is correct or wrong - The fact that they illegally parked suggests both are equally at fault. Netizens' Comments Try already then let me know can? Hello Uncle, do you know what is doxxing??? What a boomer. There was bound to be a comment that mentioned "NS" or "National Service". What has NS got to do with this? Stop making serving NS sound like a privilege. ----------------------- Witnessed an accident? See something interesting on the roads? 20. https://www.motortrend.com/news/toyota-corolla-ae86-factory-heritage-parts-gazoo-racing <Toyota Corolla AE86 Gets Factory Heritage Parts From Gazoo Racing Now is your chance to revitalize your mid-'80s Corolla with genuine factory replacement parts. Those in the know are already well aware of the love and admiration Toyota's fifth-generation Corolla garners. It's a love affair that has continued to burn some 30-plus years on. A hit for the automaker, the fifth-generation Corolla would go on to see over 3 million sales worldwide in the mid-1980s. Today, fans around the globe continue to restore and modify the E80 front-engine, rear-wheel-drive version, but often come up short when hunting down OEM replacement pieces which have long been discontinued—until now. Continuing The Tradition Toyota Gazoo Racing is rolling out OEM replacement parts for both the iconic AE86 coupe and liftback models under its GR Heritage Parts program. If you recall, a similar program is currently in place for the 2000GT, original Land Cruiser, and A70- and A80-generation Supra models. Known as the Levin and Sprinter in Japan, both of which are nicknamed "hachi-roku" or eight-six (designation derived from the A engine series; E Corolla platform; 8 for the 5th generation chassis; and 6, the variant within the model run), the 1983-87 chassis are far and away the most sought after Corollas by enthusiasts around the globe. Praised for its classic drivetrain layout and lightweight chassis, the affordable, sporty people mover immediately became a fan favorite among young drivers in the '80s, and that spirit lives on to this day. A massive aftermarket supports suspension makeovers, aggressive body modification, and a laundry list of engine swap ancillary parts. OEM pieces, however, have become virtually nonexistent. This new run of production pieces will be made available through Toyota dealers, just like current model genuine parts, though Toyota notes that they will only be produced for a limited time. Once production ends, whatever is left on the parts shelves will continue to be made available and once those sell out, it's a wrap. Ready For Delivery In addition to the in-person purchases, you can find a list of available parts on the Toyota Gazoo Racing website and even put in your order through the web. As of today, the site lists new disc brakes and steering knuckles for the AE86, with rear driveshafts expected next month and more parts to be added in time. >
  21. Urban life presents particular challenges. When it comes to driving, it's an environment where motorists increasingly appreciate the robust, high-riding qualities of an SUV, but on a scale tailored to suit urban streets and with a genuine emphasis on environmental performance. At the same time, drivers want a vehicle that's distinctive and stylish, and which has all the flexibility they need for an active lifestyle. These are exactly the qualities Toyota has instilled in the all-new Toyota Yaris Cross. The new Toyota Yaris Cross has been designed and developed for Europe, specifically to meet the requirements and preferences of the region's B-SUV market. It will be made in Europe too, at Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF), alongside the new generation Yaris hatchback, from 2021. True hybrid, true SUV The new Yaris Cross draws on Toyota's strong heritage of advanced hybrid technology, small car design and SUV engineering. Toyota's world leadership in hybrid vehicle technology includes the first use of a hybrid system in a B-segment car with the original Yaris Hybrid in 2012. The unmatched experience it has gained ensures that Toyota Yaris Cross's new fourth generation hybrid powertrain delivers exceptional performance and efficiency. As a member of the Yaris family, Yaris Cross is constructed on Toyota's new GA-B compact car platform. It also shares the "big-small" design and packaging concept that characterised the original Yaris, and presents a roomy interior within compact exterior dimensions. Toyota Yaris Cross is also a genuine SUV, benefiting from Toyota's experience in originating the concept of the recreational SUV 25 years ago with the RAV4 - today the world's best-selling SUV - and more recently in producing the stylish and highly efficient C-HR. A raised ride height and the availability of AWD-i intelligent all-wheel drive reinforce its authentic SUV credentials. Adding Yaris Cross to the line-up will give Toyota an SUV range that spans the B, C and D segments. New hybrid powertrain Yaris Cross benefits from Toyota's fourth generation hybrid technology. Toyota successfully pioneered the use of full hybrid technology in B-segment cars with the introduction of the first Yaris Hybrid hatchback in 2012. Since then, more than half a million have been sold in Europe, making it a powerful tool in building public awareness and appreciation of the technology. The Yaris and Yaris Cross are the first models to use Toyota's latest 1.5 hybrid system, developed directly from the larger 2.0 and 2.5-litre powertrains used by recent new models such as the Corolla, C-HR, RAV4 and Camry. This features a new 1.5-litre, three-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, precision-engineered to reduce friction and mechanical losses and optimise combustion speed. The result is high torque at low engine speeds and excellent fuel efficiency. The engine's thermal efficiency is rated at 40%, which is greater than comparable diesel engines and ensures strong fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. The new hybrid system has a maximum output of 116 DIN hp. Special attention has been given to power delivery, making the system very responsive to drive. In terms of emissions efficiency, the front-wheel drive model starts from below 90 g/km CO2 and the AWD-i version from below 100 g/km. Toyota GA-B platform Toyota Yaris Cross follows its sibling hatchback model in adopting Toyota's new GA-B vehicle platform. This ensures a high level of body rigidity and a well-balanced chassis, making the car responsive and agile. All urban. All SUV With the Yaris Cross, Toyota has produced an authentic SUV on a smaller scale, giving customers the higher driving position, practicality and interior spaciousness, they desire in a car with compact dimensions that make it well-suited to urban driving. The design evokes the classic qualities of SUVs, with a higher body and larger wheels/tyres communicating strength and purpose. Toyota Yaris Cross has the same 2,560 mm wheelbase as the new Yaris hatchback, but is 240 mm longer overall, with 60 mm added to the front overhang and 180 mm to the rear, securing more interior space. The ground clearance is 30 mm higher and the vehicle is taller and wider overall - by 90 and 20 mm respectively. Practical and Versatile Being a true SUV, special attention has been given to practicality and versatility. There's a power back door for when your hands are full. And an adjustable deck height to give the flexibility of either a secure underfloor compartment or increased trunk space for larger loads. In addition, the deck board itself can be split in two, giving customers both increased space and an underfloor storage area. The trunk is also equipped with a new flex belt system to secure items and stop them shifting during driving. Yaris Cross is just as spacious as it is practical. With all seats up and tonneau cover in place it delivers a large trunk volume. However, if more load capacity is needed, then there's a 40:20:40 foldable rear seat system to balance rear passenger space with cargo needs. Intelligent all-wheel drive One of the features that defines the new Toyota Yaris Cross as an authentic SUV is the availability of an intelligent all-wheel drive system - a unique feature in its class for a hybrid model. AWD-i provides extra stability and traction in everyday driving, in poor conditions and on low-grip surfaces. An electric system, it is more compact and weighs less than mechanical AWD units, helping the Yaris Cross Hybrid AWD-i achieve lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions than any of its all-wheel drive B-SUV competitors. The system directs drive torque to the rear axle when pulling away and when accelerating. In normal driving, the Toyota Yaris Cross operates with front-wheel drive, but when low-grip conditions are detected, all-wheel drive is engaged automatically. This can be, for example, on wet cobblestones, in heavy rain, on wet or packed snow, or on sand. Advanced Driver Assistance System The foundation of the new Yaris Cross's safety performance is its GA-B platform, giving the car an exceptionally rigid body. With the intention of meeting the highest and most rigorous independent test standards, it will further benefit from Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems and advanced driver assistance functions, helping to avoid a wide range of common accident risks through driver information, early warnings and, when necessary, automatic braking and steering intervention. Design The design process of Toyota Yaris Cross brought together a wide team from studios in both Europe and Japan. To describe their ideas and inspiration in more detail, please find below the words of one member of the team - Lance Scott, Design General Manager at Toyota's EDD studio in Nice, France. "When we started this process, we understood that whilst style is the number one purchase reason in the B-SUV segment, customers were also keen to have a high level of practicality. Not easy things to reconcile, especially in a compact package. From the very beginnings of the design concept, we had the European customer in mind, but needed to understand more about them. So we went out and interviewed real customers to understand their lifestyle, what they liked, what their daily activities were and how they enjoyed themselves. After an enjoyable and enlightening process, we came back enthusiastic to design a car that would mirror their personality and deliver a vibrant combination of being both sophisticated and energetic. As a team, we came up with the key words 'Robust' and 'Minimalistic', which we felt would express both compactness and agility, as well as the robustness and strength of an SUV. When we started to sketch ideas for the exterior, the iconic image of a diamond consistently came to mind. Subsequently we coined the phrase 'nimble diamond' to express the hard, strong and premium image of the gemstone combined with the agile and fun to drive personality we felt the car needed to convey. From the top view, or plan view as we call it, we 'cut', or 'shaved' the body to give us a diamond shape that allowed us the space to emphasise the fenders. This diamond body shape combined with the 4 bold fenders gave us an energetic shape which was both strong and sophisticated. Clearly, we want the car to be immediately perceived as a SUV, so we emphasised a higher ground clearance, a strong horizontal axis giving a great balance and poise, big squared wheel arches and of course big wheels ... up to 18"! The face was also a very important aspect for us. We wanted to keep the strong DNA of Toyota's SUV line-up but at the same time give Yaris Cross an identity of its own. At the rear, we again focused on giving the car a good stance with the wide fenders illustrating how it looks planted on its wheels. Combining the horizontal rear tail lamps and rear screen clearly shows family identity with Yaris, yet the wider and more squared tailgate hints at the luggage space's larger flexibility for daily usage. For the exterior colour, we started to think about something that could express an active and high-quality image that our target customers would really appreciate. Looking at future colour trends we can see that there is a growing tendency for gold and other precious metals, but we wanted to offer something a bit more natural and urban. Adding a subtle hint of green to the gold direction, whilst also de-saturating the colour to emphasis the metal like appearance, gave us this fresh urban yet active appeal that highlighted the surface form of the exterior. The final result is a colour we call Brass Gold" Toyota expects to produce more than 150,000 Yaris Cross a year at the TMMF Onnaing factory, near Valenciennes in France, and achieve a B-SUV segment share of more than 8%.
  22. Browsing through the Elantra thread, it seems that more people are buying this model rather than the Altis. There seems to be more new Elantra than Altis on the roads as well. I can attribute it to the vast price difference between the two models. VES is one factor that is against the altis. Also, the specs of this Korean made car is superior than the Altis. Is this the year where the Elantra reign supreme and become the best selling car in Singapore? Is this the time where the Altis is finally dethroned by the Elantra? Or maybe Altis will still retain its top selling crown? Afterall the Toyota brand has always been associated with reliability. Lets have a healthy discussion on this.

  24. The purpose of Discretionary turns is to ease traffic flow at certain junctions. However, over the years, discretionary turns have evolved to be one of the most hazardous spots. Watch this video to see why discretionary turns have developed such a notorious reputation: What happened? This accident occurred at the junction of Punggol Road and Sengkang East Way. Despite travelling at a slow speed, a Toyota Noah performs a discretionary right turn WITHOUT checking for oncoming traffic. Yes, you read it correctly — In the video, the Toyota driver did not bother stopping at the pocket meant for drivers to check for oncoming traffic. As a result, an oncoming motorcyclist was sent flying mid-air due to a collision with the Toyota Noah. Where The Fault Lies After watching the video, you may have two thoughts on your mind — Are discretionary turns or human error the cause of discretionary turn-related accidents? Well, I guess the latter is the reason for discretionary turn-related accidents due to LTA's removal of discretionary right turns at most traffic light junctions. The topic of discretionary turns attracted a mixed response from the public: Here's to wishing the motorcyclist a speedy recovery from this accident!
