  1. I am looking at this MPV, anybody here driving ISIS or taken ride before? Could share comments? Thanks.
  2. A RAV4 attempts a lane change without the tact of checking its blind spot and sideswipes a C180 Coupe. It is unknown as to what extent were the damages for the Mercedes Benz but seeing as how both vehicles steered to the side of the road, I’m sure the drivers reached an amicable resolution to the matter. Watch the video for yourself here 287087999_995773451062318_8481438575448583312_n.mp4 Blindspot checking is a crucial component to driving given that it provides you with the visibility of spots that might not be able to be seen through your mirrors and helps to prevent the possibility of accidents like these. Therefore, driving tests include an addition of 4 demerit points if you fail to check your blind spot. Clearly, this driver has forgotten the memo, resulting in this tragic incident. Maybe he should take a refresher course. Online Comments It seems as if Netizens have also risen to comment that the driver taking the video has also failed to abide by correct traffic regulations by not switching on his headlights at night. Pretty obvious. Traffic rules should be strictly abided by, yes? no? maybe? leave your take in the comments below! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. Reacting with a brake check to a tailgater or vice versa is courting for trouble. These two actions simply do not go hand in hand with each other. Here's why: What Happened? In the video, the cam car - a Mitsubishi Lancer was gunning down the CTE in the wee hours of the morning at a significantly fast speed. And to its rear was a white Toyota Camry that was also speeding down the expressway. The Toyota Camry gradually sped up and tailgated the Mitsubishi Lancer. Having witnessed the provocation from its rear, the Mitsubishi Lancer reacted with a rather forceful brake check, resulting in the Camry rear-ending it. Despite the collision, the Toyota Camry driver pulled away from the Mitsubishi Lancer before changing lanes and scooting from it. How do you know if it is a Mitsubishi Lancer? A resourceful netizen posted a sgCarMart used car listing: After some poking around, here are the following images of the vehicle in the used car listing: Does the rear of the car look familiar? I don't know about you, but it looks pretty familiar to me. What are your thoughts on this incident? Let me know in the comments below! Netizens' Comments Netizens did not sympathise with the Mitsubishi driver at all. Instead, they went a step further to call him out for performing a brake check, and some went full savage on him. Here's a compilation of these comments: ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  4. Personally, I strictly employ the 2-second rule, especially during heavy (heavier) traffic and wet weather. The extra distance and time provided by the 2-second rule will be crucial for you to react accordingly when the car in front of you performs an abrupt brake. Watch what happens when one doesn't leave a safe distance from the car ahead: What Happened? A total of 14 vehicles were involved in 3 clusters of accidents along lane 1 of the PIE, with two clusters being multiple chain collisions. According to the dashcam footage, both the chain collisions seemed to have occurred just moments earlier. The first cluster This was most likely the cause of the subsequent accidents. It involved 3 cars: A Toyota Prius A Toyota Vios A Mazda CX-3 The second cluster The most 'rabak' out of the three, involved a total of 8 cars and a mini-van. The 8 cars consists of: A Nissan Sylphy A Hyundai Elantra A Toyota Corolla Altis A Toyota Wish A Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class A Mercedes-Benz C180 Two unidentifiable cars that were squashed against the concrete barrier The final cluster The dashcam footage captured the last accident or final cluster, which involved 2 cars: A Honda Civic An Audi TT Unfortunately, despite being able to brake in time due to the ample safety distance ahead of him, the Honda Civic still got rear-ended pretty hard by the Audi TT. The impact of the collision caused the Honda Civic to surge several metres ahead. The 2-Second Rule Could the 2-second rule taught to us in driving school prevent this series of accidents? Possibly, if each driver practices this rule - Take a look at the Honda Civic that managed to stop in time with the 2-second rule employed by the driver. I am certain that with the 2-second rule, there would be fewer cars involved in the massive chain collision due to the added time and distance for each driver to react accordingly. Netizens' Comments I hope this clears up the confusion on why the Honda Civic was flashing his high beam at the cam car. I also wonder why🤔 Well, that escalated! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  5. The seventh generation Lexus ES will be the first to be introduced to markets in Western Europe. It follows the new LS flagship sedan and LC coupe in carrying forward a new chapter in Lexus design that has a much stronger emotional quality. The eye-catching styling, made possible by the use of an all-new Global Architecture - K (GA-K) platform, will have particular appeal to customers in the region, together with a more engaging driving experience and even higher safety provisions. The new ES is built on the all-new Global Architecture - K (GA-K) platform, giving Lexus the opportunity to explore the limits of mid-size luxury sedan design. The car is 65 mm longer (4,980 mm), 5 mm lower (1,445 mm) and 45 mm wider (1,865 mm) than its predecessor. The 50 mm longer wheelbase (2,870 mm) allows the wheels to be pushed closer to the car's corners, with wider front and rear treads (+10 and +37 mm). The range will include the ES 300h, on sale from December 2018, powered by a new self-charging hybrid system, together with the ES 200, ES 250 and ES 350 petrol engine models that will go on sale from September 2018. 7. This has to be one of the most unique, one-of-a-kind accident you would have ever seen before. The aftermath of the accident might even be meme-worthy. Watch it here: What Happened? The accident occurred at around 7am, at Hougang Avenue 1. As the morning traffic started forming at a red light, a BMW 520i driver decided to perform an abrupt lane change from lane 1 (go straight/turn right lane) to lane 2 (go straight-only lane). Despite an oncoming Toyota Corolla approaching, the BMW driver insisted on squeezing through and changing lanes. Unfortunately, the Toyota Corolla driver was either not paying attention, not practising defensive driving, or simply not fully awake. And needless to say, the BMW and Toyota collided with each other. The BMW driver decided to react by swerving to the right for some reason. And as a result, the BMW grazed the side of a Honda Civic that was in front of it. The back-to-back accidents left all 3 cars perfectly aligned in a straight line, entirely blocking off other motorists from passing through. The jam must have been so bad at this junction, considering the morning jam + the jam caused by this accident. And also, can I just point out how bad I feel for the Honda Civic driver, who was patiently waiting at the traffic light but got implicated in this accident? Netizens' Comments I would love to watch him crawl out from the boot! I can totally imagine this😆 Helicopter helicopter~ ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 8. Would this come and sell well in Singapore? First Look: With the 2019 RAV4, Toyota gives its best-selling crossover a new rugged look http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/news/2019-toyota-rav4-preview-article-1.3900050 Considered the first-ever compact crossover, the Toyota RAV4 debuted in 1994. This brings up two thoughts: 1) that CUVs have been around much longer than the current sales craze indicates, and 2) how are there only four generations of RAV4 in 24 years? Well, the first-generation slogged through a 16-year cycle, but as consumer demands increased, vehicle life cycles decreased in retrospect. Which brings us to today’s world debut of the all-new 2019 RAV4. And the grandfather of the crossover segment is looking younger than ever: less cute ‘ute and more brute youth. Finally fashionable At first glance, the only indication that the new RAV4 is indeed a Toyota is its ever-familiar oval emblem. Outside of that, the crossover evokes brawn and strength—words that generally describe true body-on-frame trucks and SUVs rather than car-based, unibody crossovers. But the 2019 RAV4 is full of bold character lines, chiseled features, and a grille that looks just as annoyed to be sitting in traffic as you are. Even its fenders, which now feature squared-off black plastic cladding instead of body-colored metal look (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) appropriate and attractive. The new RAV4 will drop a trim (Platinum) but details for the full lineup are sparse. However, an XSE Hybrid model is all-new and with it comes standard two-tone exterior paint. A black roof is paired with shades of gray, white, silver, and a new blue to give the hybrid a distinctive exterior style but in an atypical hybrid way (i.e., not frumpy looking). Adventure grade models also receive the new double-color scheme but with a white roofline similar to smaller sibling CH-R. This is available only on black, blue, and a new of-the-land greenish hue called Lunar Rock. For 2019, with the Platinum trim gone, the Limited is left as the sole heir to RAV4 luxury. This top-of-the-line model is outfitted with 19-inch wheels and chrome accents to further distinguish its premium-ness. Tech and touchpoints Of course, the Limited receives more than just flashy alloys and shiny bits. Standard features include a power moonroof, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a newly-designed 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a rearview mirror camera, which is a North American-first for Toyota. Similar to what is available on General Motors’ premium brands, Toyota’s Digital Display Rear Mirror looks and acts like a conventional rearview mirror but toggle a switch and it will also display a high-definition, wide-angle view of what’s behind the vehicle. The Limited doesn’t hoard all the fancy gear, though, as all 2019 RAV4 models will be equipped with Entune 3.0, which includes Verizon-powered Wi-Fi connectivity, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and Apple CarPlay integration. Available Entune upgrades include Plus for a larger 8-inch touchscreen and satellite radio or Premium, which adds navigation. Also available will be up to five USB ports, wireless device charging, and an all-new 11-speaker JBL sound system. Increased performance capabilities The 2019 RAV4 will be powered by two engines: a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder paired with an 8-speed automatic, and a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder second-generation Toyota Hybrid System II engine mated to a CVT. Horsepower and fuel economy figures are not yet available but the automaker says consumers can expect improved, even best-in-class, numbers with the new model. Driving dynamics are said to have improved as well, particularly with the XSE Hybrid, which Toyota claims is the best-handling of the RAV4 lineup. The new hybrid features a sport-tuned suspension along with improved shock absorbers and springs. There also are three all-wheel-drive systems for the 2019 RAV4. Entry-level models can be optioned with the carryover AWD system, hybrids are available with AWD-i, and a new-to-Toyota dynamic torque vectoring AWD, which will be standard on Limited gasoline models and Adventure grade RAV4s. Featuring a rear driveline disconnect, the new torque-vectoring AWD system can send 50 percent of the engine torque to the rear wheels as well as distribute it to the left or right to improve handling. Additionally, when equipped with AWD, Adventure models are outfitted with Multi-Terrain Select as standard. The new system offers four driver-selectable traction modes (snow, mud, sand, and rocks) that can be adjusted on the fly. But performance isn’t the only priority in the new RAV4. For 2019, the lineup will be equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, the automaker’s second generation of advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies. Standard on all vehicles, the technology package includes: pre-collision with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beam as well as new-for-2019 lane tracing assist (enabled only with ACC) and road sign assist (identifies and alerts to upcoming signage). The 2019 Toyota RAV4 will go on sale at the end of this year while hybrid models will follow suit in early 2019. We expect final specs and pricing closer to its on-sale date, if not sooner. 9. No one likes to pay for Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges, and sometimes it's funny to see how a simple system that helps regulate traffic flow has the potential to cause so much frustration for people like this Hiace driver. Watch the video here: This incident occurred at ERP 42 on the slip road from the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) to the Central Expressway (CTE). What happened? As the cam car approaches the slip road towards an ERP gantry, a Toyota Hiace can be seen hitting his brakes abruptly before coming to a halt just before the gantry. This dangerous action from the Hiace driver caused the cam car to react with an emergency brake as well. Shortly after, the Hiace driver turns on his hazard light. The cam car proceeds to overtake the Hiace and carry on with his journey, only for the Hiace driver to drive off. Possibilities At first glance, it seems as though the Hiace driver was attempting to avoid ERP payment by waiting for the ERP timer to end. However, a closer look at the ERP timing disregards the initial intent of the Hiace driver's action. Instead, it is highly likely that the Hiace driver either forgot to insert his stored-value card, or he was swapping an insufficient stored-value card with one that has sufficient value into his IU. Nevertheless, actions like this should not be condoned. Just pay the $10 fine or "administrative fee" and take it as a lesson learnt. Netizens' comments Modern problems require modern solutions 😎 Do or die, Hiace driver gonna get slapped with a fine. 10. If another motorist gives way to you, the most logical thing to do is show your gratitude towards them with a simple raise of your hand. Well, not for this egoistic Mercedes driver who defies logic. Watch it here: What Happened? A Mercedes A180 decided to perform an abrupt lane change without checking for oncoming traffic in the adjacent lane. As a result, an oncoming Toyota Corolla in the adjacent lane had to brake hard and give way to the Mercedes driver. You would think that after performing such a hazardous manoeuvre, the Mercedes driver would apologise or show some form of gratitude towards the Toyota driver. BUT NO. Instead, the Mercedes driver decides to swerve left and right, to impede and intentionally block the Toyota driver. Along the way, he also activates his windshield wiper to spray water toward the Toyota driver at its rear. TBH, I am freaking puzzled at the Mercedes driver's actions - why on Earth would anyone react like that? This got me thinking if he is a jerk with an ego problem or simply self-entitled? Netizens' Comments Definitely doesn't have a brain too. Absolutely. For a random netizen to recognise the car/driver, the driver must have been performing some 'impressionable stuff' in the past too. Compensating for something I guess? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  11. I have to admit; this has to be either one of the most bizarre or reckless driving I have seen in a long time. Watch it here: What Happened? This unfortunate accident occurred along Brickland Road and involved a Strides MG 5 electric taxi, a Toyota Wish and a van. It all started when the Strides MG 5 electric taxi emerged from a slip road towards Brickland Road and accelerated at full speed. Despite traffic forming at a traffic light up ahead, it did not occur to the Strides taxi driver to slow down. Instead, the taxi driver decided to swerve to the adjacent lane to avoid rear-ending a lorry but still rear-ended another car, a Toyota Wish. During the collision, a van also sustained damages to its rear. It is not known how many were injured in this accident. However, here's wishing all those injured a speedy recovery! At a closer glance Initially, it seems like the Strides taxi driver was driving purely recklessly, which resulted in this accident. However, after taking a closer glance, I made a rather bizarre observation - The driver's side door abruptly swung open when the MG 5 was emerging out of the slip road (Video timestamp 0:24). Could this accident be caused by a medical-related complication experienced by the taxi driver? Or was it caused by the incompetency of the taxi driver? Let me know what you think in the comments below! Netizens' Comments The aftermath of the accident looks really bad... TBH, I highly doubt anyone would intentionally drive like that. LMAO! And yes, the watermark got to go. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  12. It is basic knowledge not to rush across the road and to look left and right before attempting to cross. However, he learned his lesson the hard way for one impatient kick-scooter rider. Watch it here: What Happened? An impatient kick-scooter rider blindly rode across the road at the entrance/exit point of Waterway Point carpark. He knocks into a motorcyclist's tail-box and falls hard on the ground. He quickly apologised to the motorcyclist and quickly got back up to his feet. Needless to say, the motorcyclist was baffled at how the kick-scooter rider managed to collide with him despite being in a stationary position. Moments later, the kick-scooter rider scoots across the road just as a white Toyota Camry exited the carpark, almost causing a near-miss collision with the Camry. And when the kick-scooter rider was riding away, the motorcyclist made the most iconic hand gesture ever: What do you think of the kick-scooter rider's actions? Is it caused by a lack of situational awareness, unluckiness or simply bo-chap? Netizens' Comments The kick-scooter rider really very heng! Joker leh you! I wonder what hand gesture the white car driver is making to the kick-scooter rider🤔 ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 13. With the widespread use of the dash cam, you will certainly come across negatively-associated incidents on social media platforms now more than ever. Compared to negatively-associated incidents, commendable acts often go unreported and are less likely to surface online. Well, not for this commendable act: What Happened? As usual, there was heavy traffic along Woodlands Avenue 12 towards Gambas since it was the peak hour. Just then, a motorcyclist gradually filtered from lane 1 to lane 2 before lane-splitting between lanes 2 and 3. He continues riding for a distance while lane splitting between lanes 2 and 3 with his left signal indicator still on. Out of the blue, the motorcyclist started veering left and ploughed into the side of a Toyota Wish before losing his balance and falling on the road. At this point, the Toyota driver realised what had happened and performed a selfless act by swerving his car to the left to avoid running over the collapsed motorcyclist. Subsequently, the Toyota driver fully mounts the kerb before crashing head-first into a tree. The collapsed motorcyclist would have had his head run over if not for the Toyota driver's swift reflexes. Kudos to the Toyota driver for his quick thinking and excellent reflexes! Right now, I am hoping for the best for both parties 🙏 Netizens' Comments Kudos to the Toyota driver!👏 Well, that could be a possible explanation to the motorcyclist's bizarre act! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 14. There is a reason why drunk-driving is against the law and highly discouraged. The following video explains it all: What Happened? In the wee hours of the morning, at around 4am, a Toyota Corolla was being driven haphazardly along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). In the dashcam footage above, the Toyota Corolla swerved left and right for no apparent reason and could not keep within its lane. Moments later, when negotiating a bend, the driver could not handle the turn and collided with the railing of the expressway. And it was not because the car lost traction. Instead, the car simply veered off-course as the driver did not steer the car accordingly. After the collision, the Toyota abruptly stopped in the middle of the road for a couple of seconds before driving off again. The video ends with the Toyota Corolla continuing its journey on the expressway in a hazardous manner that it previously demonstrated. After observing the Toyota Corolla, it is highly likely that the driver is drunk as a skunk or has fallen asleep at the wheel. Which do you think it is - sleepy or drunk? I am just hoping that a couple of traffic police turns up to stop him before he hurts himself or other motorists around him. Netizens' Comments I am hoping that the driver gets stopped at a roadblock at the very least. Imagine if you are the passenger in his car🤡🤡🤡 Let me know in the comments below if you think he is drunk-driving or sleep-driving! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 16. The roof and wing would be carbon fiber to save weight. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/578238/toyota-grmn-supra-rumor-530-hp/ The rumor mill is grinding away again about the Toyota Supra getting a high-performance GRMN variant. Japan's Spyder7 claims the sporty model uses a variant of the BMW S58 engine from the M3 and M4 that allegedly produces 533 horsepower (397 kilowatts). The more powerful Supra would allegedly exclusively be available with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, according to Spyder7's rumor. The GRMN would be rear-wheel drive in standard form, but all-wheel drive might be an option. The GRMN Supra would reportedly gain a hood with a scoop to send cool air to the engine. There would also be a more aggressive front fascia. The roof and rear wing are allegedly carbon fiber. The meaner Supra might arrive as soon as early 2023, according to this rumor. At least in Japan, pricing would start at around 10 million yen ($80,812 at current exchange rates). It's worth noting that Spyder7 doesn't cite a specific source for where this info comes from. A translation of the story simply says that the details are "based on the latest information obtained." We have to take things with a grain of salt for now. Rumors about the GRMN have circulated for years. Most of them suggest the hotter model would use the BMW S58 powerplant. Although, the older reports say the mill would have 503 hp (375 kW) like in the Competition variants of the M3 and M4. Other reports about the Supra's future indicate that a variant with a six-speed manual is coming for the six-cylinder, too. The three-pedal layout might even be available as soon as the 2023 model. The evidence comes from screenshots that appear to possibly be from an internal communication showing the changes for the new model year. However, anyone could make images like this, so we can't put all of our faith into their accuracy. The screenshots indicated Toyota's official announcement of the six-speed Supra was coming on April 28. Production would start in Austria in July, and the vehicles would begin arriving in showrooms in October. At least in Japan, there would allegedly be a special Supra with the six-speed manual. The Matte White Edition would have an exclusive exterior color and tan leather for the interior upholstery. What! I hope this is real!
  17. Surce: https://www.motor1.com/news/576279/toyota-gr-corolla-teaser-video/ The Toyota GR Corolla will finally debut on March 31. The automaker will stream the unveiling at 9:30 PM EDT (1:30 AM GMT on April 1). Toyota released a brief teaser video and two pictures along with this announcement to build even more excitement for the hot hatch. One of the teaser shots appears to show the GR Corolla's front fender. There's a tall outlet with black, horizontal strakes that seems to be right behind the wheel well. Directing the air from the nose through this piece might help cool the brakes. The GR badge is easily visible next to this aero aid. The other photo seems to be the side sill below the doors. It has "GR-FOUR" embossed into the panel. This is a reference to the sophisticated all-wheel-drive system that Toyota also uses on the GR Yaris. One of the earliest teasers for the GR Corolla revealed several specs about the model. It uses the G16E-GTS 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that also powers the GR Yaris. This powerplant makes 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts), which is what the GR Yaris produces in Japan, versus 257 hp (192 kW) in Europe. Another teaser shows the GR Corolla with a manual gearbox. Toyota also has a prototype of the GR Yaris using an eight-speed automatic. A rumor suggests this transmission might eventually be available in the Corolla hot hatch. There's no indication whether this gearbox would be available at launch. Toyota recently hid a teaser for the GR Corolla in a video promoting the GR86. The plot of the ad is that stuffy execs are reacting to a pitch from the GR team. There's a shot of the Supra and GR86 driving together, and one of the bosses comments there should be a third vehicle in the frame. It cuts to the rear of the hot hatch sitting in a dark store. All of the available info so far indicates that the GR Corolla is coming exclusively as a hatchback. There are no images or even rumors suggesting that a sedan variant is on the way.
  18. Hello guys I went to the toyota showroom recently and saw on the price list that there's this "Gold COE price" for an extra $1000. Mind you it's not 1 bid guarantee, it's 4 bids guarantee. If you don't opt for it, it's 4 bid non-guarantee. Anyone knows if it is worth it to top up the extra $1000?
  19. "Zebra crossings give pedestrians the right of way to cross the road ahead of motorists". However, for motorists to give way to pedestrians, they must be visible to motorists. Watch this video to understand what I mean: What Happened? This near-miss incident occurred at a zebra crossing in Boon Lay Way. A kid attempted to "cross" a zebra crossing by sliding across a skateboard while sitting to the other side of the road. In his first attempt to cross the zebra crossing, the cam car spotted him at the very last minute and performed a timely emergency brake. At the same time, the kid saw the oncoming cam car and managed to stop in his tracks. After the cam car passed, the kid made a second attempt to cross the zebra crossing while sitting on the skateboard AGAIN. The second attempt was worse than the first. He paddled while sitting on the skateboard, WITH HIS HEAD DOWN AND LOOKING ON THE GROUND. Fortunately for this kid, all the stars were aligned. He looked up and stopped in his tracks as an oncoming Toyota Prius drove through the zebra crossing. Subsequently, the kid paddled back to the pavement for safety. What's Going On? The real question is, where are the parents/guardian of this kid?! An incident such as this highlights the importance of instilling road safety and awareness in kids. Hopefully, the kid learnt his lesson on the importance of road safety from this traumatising incident. Netizens' Comments Let's not go there😱 @Parents of the kid Time to be a better parent. Really lucky af. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  20. I understand that not all drivers and cyclists get along, but isn't it better to give way than to endanger the lives of others when you're in the wrong? https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=271869238455173 On Saturday (March 12) night, two or three cyclists and the cam car driver were cruising down a road in Yishun when they encountered the reckless driver. As the group went by a petrol station, they spotted the Toyota Altis turning out. After failing to give way to the cyclists and the cam car, the Altis immediately brakes after it turns out. This scares the cyclists, who swerved to avoid a head-on collision with the thoughtless driver. They could also be heard yelling 'Oi' at the driver in the video, which provoked him even more. Continuing on their route, both cyclists and the cam car sped up and overtook the car. The cyclists then looked back to check on the location of the raging driver as they hurriedly peddled. This upsets the Altis driver, who immediately sped up and recklessly merged into their lane - just to step on his brakes. His pride must have been seriously hurt as the cyclists deftly avoided his attacks, resulting in a second attempt to block them (and almost running one of the cyclists over). The way the driver tries to get the cyclists reminds me of a classic Tom and Jerry scene. The video ends with the Toyota Altis turning left and exiting the road. Netizens' reactions Netizens were divided on placing blame after watching this video. Some condoned the driver's reckless actions while others condoned the way the cyclists were cycling on the road. While watching the video, it is possible that the cyclists provoked the driver by shouting at him for not giving way to them. Yep, I think the blame is 50/50. While the cyclists were quite rude (and took up the entire lane after overtaking), the driver endangered the lives of everybody when he played his petty games. At the end of the day, the moral of the story is that no matter whether we are drivers or cyclists, we all need to show some compassion and be gracious while on the road. ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/574229/hydrogen-powered-car-alive-sales-up-84-percent/ While most analysts and consumers are talking about the shift from internal-combustion cars to electric ones, there’s another side to the green-car story that's quite unknown. Hydrogen fuel-cell cars showed modest but interesting figures last year, suggesting battery-electric power isn't the only path to the future. The data collected by JATO Dynamics indicates global sales of hydrogen fuel-cell cars totaled 15,500 units around the world in 2021. Although it is very small compared to the sales of other fuel types, the demand increased by 84 percent compared to 2020, when 8,400 fuel-cell vehicles found new owners. Even more impressive is the increase compared to pre-pandemic levels, which stands at 103 percent. Niche Segment, For How Long? It is extremely rare to see a hydrogen fuel-cell car on the streets. Since 2011, approximately 41,700 hydrogen vehicles have been sold – roughly the same number of cars sold in China by Volkswagen Group in just four days. Prices for these vehicles are high, and the lack of a strong hydrogen infrastructure contributes to the low sales figures. Also, there are just very few choices for hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles right now. To that point, 98 percent of the sales volume for hydrogen cars last year corresponded to only two models: the Hyundai Nexo and the Toyota Mirai. The remaining sales came from the phased-out Honda Clarity and a minuscule number of test cars from brands such as Renault, Maxus, BMW, and Peugeot. Nevertheless, future plans for hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles are in contrast to current sales volumes. Following the introduction of the second-generation Toyota Mirai, other automakers such as BMW and Volkswagen announced the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles along with a series of new battery-electric cars. For instance, BMW is planning to make 100 hydrogen test units of the X5 this year. Kia announced plans for a hydrogen fuel-cell lineup in 2028. Volkswagen Group is leaving all the fuel-cell research and development to teams at Audi, which already has more than 100 people involved. Daimler and Volvo trucks are also betting on this technology for their larger commercial vehicles. South Korea Leads The Way, By Far Until these in-development vehicles come to life, the statistics show South Korea is by far the largest hydrogen fuel-cell car market. The figures for 2021 put this nation ahead of all others by a significant margin. Thanks to the dominant position of Hyundai and the expansion of hydrogen infrastructure, South Korea accounts for 55 percent of the global volume. Sales jumped from almost 5,800 units in 2020 to just over 8,500 units last year. And it all comes down to one vehicle: the Hyundai Nexo. It's the best-selling hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle in the world, with 92 percent of all 9,208 global Nexo sales taking place in its home market of South Korea. The Nexo went on sale in 2018 but it's not the only hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle of note. The second-generation Toyota Mirai went on sale in 2019, and sales increased by a whopping 257 percent in 2021 as a result. Interestingly, the Mirai’s main market in 2021 wasn't South Korea, but actually, the United States. 2,629 units were sold there, followed by Japan at 2,438 units and 730 vehicles throughout Europe.

  24. Another war going on in the cyber world and this is no joking matters, especially if it hit those critical service providers in health care, energy, transport, telecommunications sector for example. Auto giant's supplier hit by ransomware; factories due to restart Wednesday NAGOYA -- Toyota Motor on Tuesday halted operations at all of its plants in Japan after a major supplier was hit by a cyberattack, disrupting the automaker's parts supply management system. The company is suspending 28 lines at 14 plants. Subsidiaries Hino Motors and Daihatsu Motor will also halt operations at some plants in Japan on Tuesday. The announcement that operations would be halted came on Monday, confirming an earlier Nikkei report. Toyota later announced that operations across Japan will resume on Wednesday. "We apologize to our relevant suppliers and customers for any inconvenience this may cause," Toyota said. The cyberattack hit Kojima Industries, which supplies plastic parts to Toyota. Kojima announced on Tuesday morning that it has received a message demanding ransom and that it has confirmed the existence of a virus. On Monday, an official close to Kojima Industries told Nikkei: "It is true that we have been hit by some kind of cyberattack. We are still confirming the damage and we are hurrying to respond, with the top priority of resuming Toyota's production system as soon as possible." The company said on Monday it was still investigating the origin of the cyberattack, the specific malware involved and the damage caused. "Toyota representatives and cybersecurity experts are at Kojima Industries to determine the cause and how to restore" the system, a source familiar with the situation said. Many of the roughly 400 tier 1 suppliers that Toyota deals with directly are connected to the automaker's kanban just-in-time production control system, which allowed the problems at Kojima Industries to spill over to Toyota. The automaker halted production to prevent longer-term damage, and prioritized inspection and recovery of the system. Hino will suspend all operations at its Koga facility, which manufactures large and midsize trucks for export and domestic sale, and its Hamura plant, which makes small trucks and handles production for Toyota. The automaker has yet to determine whether work will resume Wednesday. The Toyota shutdown includes a Daihatsu plant in Kyoto Prefecture. The halt is expected to reduce output by a few hundred vehicles. "We are aware of media reports" on the incident, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters Monday night. "The government is working to confirm the situation." Law enforcement is also looking into the matter.
