Hi, I'm in the process of looking for a used MPV as my family is now consisting of 7 members including myself. I believe the norm is to send the car for STA evaluation but I have heard many stories saying that it's not worth the money. Reason being that it will only detect some MAJOR problems. Another test is the Vicom evaluation. Can anyone share the details on this type of test? Is it a good yard stick?

Hi everyone, Am currently in the process of looking for a first used car. Of the cars that I have viewed (mostly sourced on SGCM), I have had one sent for AA testing and pre-purchase evaluation. As I have relatively limited knowledge of car mechanics and repairs, would like to appeal for help and feedback regarding the report. Model: Audi A4 1.8T FSI MU S-LINE Registration: May 2009 Mileage: 120,000+ Previous owners: 1 Dealer claims - no major accidents, stock colour, servicing already done before initial viewing No declarations with regards to major servicing/repairs required beforehand Am looking for opinions on whether this vehicle appears roadworthy/worth purchasing (+/- negotiations or additional servicing) based on the report, or if there are any major red flags etc. Thanks in advance. Any constructive comments or suggestions would also be very much appreciated!

hi guys, we all heard in news that some pple buy used car and later found that previpus loan not settled and later car kenna repossessed by finance company. is there a way to find out if a car got no outstanding loan and that the seller or dealer has paid in full for it? otherwise the buyer may get a double whammy, pay downpayment and later car kenna towed away because previpus loan not settled. is there a websitr or source to check and confirm since dealers can say what they like?

Hello, I am seriously thinking of getting a used Getz. In the small car category, I like its look and space and I also think that it should be quite reliable There are few variants avaiable - 1.1M, 1.3A & 1.4A (will not condier the 1.6 version). Like to seek opinion from fellow Getz owners which vaiant is the best amongst all, and what is the reasonable price for a 2 ~ 3 yr old car ? From Straits times and online carmart, the price of a close to 3yr old Getz is around 30K. Is this a fair value to pay for ? The other option I am considering is to get a OPC at < 20K and convert it to a normal plate, which will work out to be around 30K. Also, if anyone is thinking of letting go your Getz, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi i saw some vehicle in carmart that is significantly cheaper than same model / year vehicle. Stated as imported used, i understand that it is previously used in another county BEFORE the reg date in Singapore, other than that is there any other non benefit i should watch out for in such vehicle? I understand spare part difference may be possible also but the imported i am looking at is japan made thus its likely to be the same compared to a conti as conti have a lot of different variants. I calculated that i should benefit more from the lower buying price thus lower downpayment, lower monthly installment, less paid for interest also. Vehicle is stated with a additional info of : Additional Imported Used Vehicle. Eligible for PARF rebate. Please correct me if i am wrong. Thank you.

I have been monitoring the used car price since 2013 for a particular model. Based on all same specification (OMV avg to be about 35k) In 2014 October, I saw a 2008 Aug model going for $59,800 Just when I intend to buy the car when it was April 2015 (because I wanted to drive my car till 10 years), the same model 2008 Aug model was going for $68,800. I had to settle for a older model as I felt the asking price was too high. My yearly depreciation calculated to be 11k which is consider a good deal now. Now July 2015, same model Nov 2008 registered going for $69,800. All 3 time zone based on Cat B COE of 70k to 75k. Is it because of the new CEVs regulation that make used cars to be more "valuable"? For people who in need a car, like my father, might not even able to afford to buy a basic proper car now. FYI, my father bought a used 2.0 Korean car in 2013 Nov, paid 40% deposit and monthly of $474.00 instalment for 29 months. I find that the car price in used car market is rubbish. I know, take it or leave it. No cheap cars at all in the next 3 years at least.

Hi , My current CAR COE expiring soon in Aug 2015 . I'm considering one of 3 following options : 1. Buy a new car with High COE 2. Buy a 2-3 used car , and buy new car in 2017 . 3. Give up driving for the time being , and buy new car in 2017 Any suggestion ? or anyone selling their 7-8 years old car ? Thanks .

On Potter's official Facebook page -- where he describes himself as "artist, adventurer, athlete" -- extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the world paid tribute to the man admired for his fearlessness and incredible courage. Hi, need some opinion from experts here as I have no experience buying a used car. Right now, I got my eye on a 2009 Honda Civic and have some doubts about the finance and reputation of the deal. I intend to pay full cash without any loan. Understanding that such arrangement would means that the price be mark up in a way. What is the norm market mark up for this case. They mark up my price around $2k. They propose a loan of half of purchase and mentioned for 4 yrs but I make full settlement after the 6th month without any penalty from the bank. But a repayment of unused interest of 70% to 80%. Is it so? I saw this particular car twice on the internet on SGcarmart. The first is sold and now the ad is opened again. Is there any reason for me to be careful of. Heard a lot of scams outside by second dealers a lot.

Hi guys, i brought the wrong NGK Iridium spark plug model for my Honda civic EK SiR B-series model. Will i damage the engine or cause any problems to it? After i had changed, i kinda smell some sort of buring smell inside my car. I'm quite worried is it the cause of wrong model of spark plug i brought? I brought ZFR6FIX-11 instead of BKR6E-N-11..

I see a lot of new cars with no mileage selling as used car with 1 owner as it is registered. Why do car dealers do that? They would lose money doing that as it's considered a 1 owner car although there's no mileage on it? Is it because they have COE expiring that they have to register with a car? What other possible reasons?
