  2. 废话!!! More people take bus of course buses move slower lah. If not what, bus drivers paiseh or more courteous because of courtesy compaign so drive slower??? Need a $770k MOS to tell us that??? What I fear is that she is pretty happy with her observation highlighted in red & then MOT/LTA may implement more measures to accommodate these buses. That will definitely be at the expense of other road users... Geeeez, can they tackle the problem of overcrowding during to their flood gate policy first before having more restrictive measures for all other road users? The kind of money we pay these folks...really flush down the drain. From CNA: Buses move slower as daily ridership increases Posted: 17 January 2012 1659 hrs
  3. As compared to your subsequent rides, do you spent more in term of money and effort to up keep it? Subsequent rides are more "been there, done that" mentality, thats didnt spend so much effort.

  8. President Ong Teng Cheong (Asiaweek, March 10, 2000): "in January 1986 I did sanction a strike, the first for about a decade. It was in the shipping industry where the management was taking advantage of the workers. I did not even tell the cabinet about sanctioning the strike. And some of them were angry with me about that. The minister for trade and industry was very angry, his officers were very upset. They had calls from America, asking what happened to Singapore? -- we are non-strike. I said: if I were to inform the cabinet or the government they would probably stop me from going ahead with the strike. It only lasted two days. Then all the issues were settled. It showed that management was just trying to pull a fast one. So I believe what I did was right."

  13. Are we still regarded as a garden city? Why is it we have become like that? Is it because of foreigners or we ourselves have let it happen or have contributed to this sad state? One only has to take a good look at the areas around our HDB blocks early in the morning of all the rubbish being thrown around before the hardworking workers sweep it all away. Something to reflect upon... From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Story/...ory_684678.html Cleanliness on the decline I AM a Canadian who visited Singapore in 1995 for two weeks. It was the cleanest city I had ever been to. I came back a year later, and again was impressed by how immaculate the country was. I returned on June 2 this year to enjoy Singapore's famous food and the Great Singapore Sale, but was very disappointed. The cleanliness of the city is gone. I spent days walking and taking public transport to various parts of the city, and noticed an appalling amount of paper and plastic rubbish in the parks and on the streets. I asked those I met why there was a litter problem, and one common comment was that it was due to the people's attitude. Another common response was: 'It's the immigrants.' A garbage worker said the problem had become worse in the last five years. A young woman said: 'Singapore has a lot of problems. We have to worry about our money and how to make a living; the litter is not our problem.' I soon witnessed acts of littering and it infuriated me. A woman with her teenage son and daughter tossed a green plastic drink bag over a railing onto the grass. I yelled at her from down the street, but she just laughed. I saw a construction worker walking past a rubbish bin and placing a can on a wall a farther 10m away, before continuing on his way. It really upsets me to see the once-pristine Singapore turning into just another grubby, trash-laden metropolis. This litter problem is a blight on Singapore's reputation, and I hope Singaporeans will address this disrespect for their country. One way is for people to take all rubbish with them after leaving public places and place it in a trash bin, and not on the ground, a wall, a bench or in the park. Community groups can get together to clean up the streets in their neighbourhoods. The city can promote cleanliness through mass media campaigns. Keeping Singapore clean is the responsibility of everyone - citizens, immigrants and tourists. James Cruikshank

  15. Dye your dog China's latest craze: dyeing pets to look like other wild animals By Emily Lodish, Global Post They only look like baby pandas. These little bundles of joy are actually chow chow dogs that have been dyed black-and-white to look like pandas. Dyeing pets has been a trend in pet pampering for quite some time. At last summer's Pets Show Taipei, there was a fierce dog-dyeing competition. Check out photos. But dyeing your pets to look like other wild animals is a more recent development. The trend demonstrates how quickly and dramatically attitudes toward pets
  16. There is some action at the beginning and end. The middle is mostly talking. Not much in character developement, not very funny, not very suspenseful, not very thrilling at all. Given a choice, I'd rather watch Thor twice.
  17. As above. Drive with care.
  18. Hi guys, urgent question. Driving 2005 STi which I bought last dec. So far no mechanical issues until tonight. Mostly stock handling with what seems like stock suspension and only upgraded front discs to slotted. When I was exiting PIE (Tuas) to Toh guan rd, the 90 degree left handed sweeper, midway through the corner, I felt the steering wheel very hard to turn. Definitely abnormal. I applied more force and managed to negotiate the turn safely. Lucky I had both hands on the wheel. In the dry I have taken the bend at 20km/h more than what I did just now, with no issues besides some tire chirping. Definitely seems like something is wrong and not that I cornered too fast. The only other time i felt something wrong was earlier today when I did a slower speed corner and felt a tugging feeling on the wheel but it was just a split second so i thought maybe it was the tire. The feeling can be described almost like someone grabbing my wheel and pulling it to the opposite direction. Would be spooky if there were no such things as mechanical issues. Low speed turning of steering wheel is fine, normal effort and not too stiff. No issues or funny noises when parking. Anyone faced similar issues? or can share with me possible diagnosis and cost to rectify? Thanks in advance...
  19. jiak gu ba (eat beef) finally admits... our president is sort of zho bo one.. so why need one? we are a parliamentary constitutional nation, not those constitutional monarchy where their kings/queens are just symbolic head of state (eg UK, Thailand, Japan) if our president is simply a symbolic head of state, might as well ask the descendant of the previous Malay royal family to be one i guess he's "shocked" by TKL's comments
  20. These Ang Moh (AW and his players) learning how to speak Mandarin before touring China.
  21. Yesterday was on ECP towards AYE/Tuas just be fore MBS, suddenly got one black BMW 3 series (S** 5805) with smoke tailights cut in at high speed then swerving left and right changing lanes to overtake other cars (traffic was moderately heavy). It was already past 8pm and lights all not turned on. Continue to drive aggressively in a manner which u'd normally associate with a particular japanese brand (S*****) eg. tailgating car in front and then make sudden overtaking move. I was very pissed off - why need to drive lidat? Then finally the car kana stuck when filtering out to henderson (all de while i m close by despite not driving like a crazy person) so i pass the car as i stay on main expressway towards Tuas. I turn to look at de driver as i passed and WTF! it's a FEMALE driver! And not those fierce looking type of gal also. Just an ordinary looking one! I tink must be de most hiong female driver i ever seen.
  22. Many civil servants thought that by voting for PAP, they can have good prospect in their career. I know of a guy who had worked for Singtel for more than 20 years. He was retrenced by Singtel even though they were making money. His whole dept was closed down and outsourced to a 3rd party. That poor chap is now a cabby.
