  1. Hello, wondering anyone driving the car has this same problem? Normally occur when turning the wheel from 90 degrees left or right. Especially obvious during reverse turning into car park lot.
  2. Hi all, Wheel spacers... Good or bad... I mean seriously.... Strut bars are good, makes cornering better. Strut bars are bad, weakens parts of your chassis. Open pod is good, engine breaths better. Open pod is bad, lose low end and risk more dirt into engine. My point is, most mods will cause premature wear on the car, in one way or another. So it a fully stock car good? "Never..." The car enthusiast will say... Anyway lets get back to my topic. Wheel spacers... Some say just get proper off set rims... And seems many who are against it say it will cause premature wheel bearing wear. Seriously wouldn't a smaller off set rim (wider) also cause the small problem? And we all know most cars are designed to under steer, so that means the rear wheel axle should be shorter. And they are on most cars... I always thought a modded wider rear will increase under steer, some friends said so... But after some research, I think in fact under steer will be less. Maybe different cars will have different effects. Anyone got facts to share?
  3. I recently bought two front wheelhubs/bearings. I'm looking for a garage that will charge reasonably and with decent workmanship to get it installed. any recommendations and experiences?
  4. I wonder how much it cost to buy a road? Sounds like a good income opportunity if your area has lots of illegal parking.
  5. As above, any bro/sis can intro any shop that help to repair a dented wheel rim, inner wheel rim a bit dented, dent is not serious.... Thanks for help!
  6. Bought a couple of cans of plastidip and decided to try it out on my spare rim. FYI, this was a spare rim that's just sitting around in the house. Pretty scuffed up and generally in an ugly state, so the perfect piece for a test. The wheel Some of the scuff marks. Couldn't be removed with normal cleaning or polishing. A lot of scratches too. Most of the time was spent taping up the parts i didn't want dipped. Better to spend more time here getting the masking right than having to redo the entire process later if the results turn out less than ideal. All taped up. A final look at the scuff marks prior to dipping Made a painting enclosure out of a wheel box Plasti-Dip time! I think in general, you should prep the surface you want to dip and clean it up really well, i didn't bother cos i was lazy and just used a kitchen rag to wipe it. Here's how it looked after the first coat. 2nd Coat. You'd notice i'm only painting the inner rim first. It goes on wet and shiny but dries to a matt finish. And... the 3rd coat, this was why i painted the inner part of the rim first, so that upon application of the 3rd coat and finishng up the outer edges, i can easily peel off the masking without the plasti-dip drying up and getting pull off too. This is how it looked after the 3rd coat dried up. I think i used too much dip on the insides as the coating feels really thick. The finishing isn't perfect up close but i think from a distance, still pass-able. At least no more scuff marks. Not perfect, but decent enough and as satisfying as any DIY could be. Would i do it on my wheels i am running on my car? Probably not, a few reasons. - The wheels on my car are still in pretty good shape. - It would take more DIP than i have, i reckon 1 wheel takes about 1/3 to 1/2 a can to coat nicely. - The amount of time needed to mask every wheel (while sitting in the carpark) will KO me. - The amount of time needed to properly coat every wheel will KO me. Is it do-able though for someone who's keen to DIY dip all his wheels? Yes very much so. But it will probably take 3 cans of plasti-dip and alot of patience.
  7. Hello all, I wish to refurbish my wheels. Not looking to change color or whatsoever but just to touch up on the kerb rashes along the lip of the rims and also the holes of the wheels as there are scuff marks there due to rough handling of the wheels by the mechanics. Anyone with first hand experience with any shops they have been with. Hopefully I can get some recommendations.
  8. Anyone know any workshop that can do the centre bore? Thank you,
  9. Parked my car at a condo in the east. Happened to park at the resident's lot by accident as the marking on the tarmac was very faint. Furthermore, there were plently of other lots around. But luck would have it, my car was clamped. The thing is the left rear wheel was clamped and I attempted to drive off without seeing the clamp. Of course, the clamp worked like a charm and the car couldn't move. I press harder on the gas and heard some shrieking sound coming from the rear. I got out and smell buring rubber and some smoke coming form the rear left wheel. There was no note on my windscreen or any thing at all that might have warned me about the clamp. And I don't have the habit to check if my car was clamped before moving off(don't think anyone has). Nevertheless, the rims were badly scratched and i suspect the suspension was damaged as well. Anyway, I talked to the security guard and was told that i was the one who committed the offence first by parking at resident's lot so there was no cause for compensation. Now when i drive, i hear a knocking sound coming form the rear suspension. What recourse do I have?
  10. Hi guys, i drive a toyota wish 2008 model. Notice when i am driving, the rear wheel seems to create a helicopter (vom-vom-vom-vom...) sound even what i am driving straight. The sound gets louder as i increases my speed. I have check there's no foreign object on my tyres, the air pressure is right. Is it some sort of wear and tear thingy? Anybody encountered before and what has been quoted and replaced? It's not causing any hazard but i am just ignored by the vom-vom-vom sound. Hope its just a small fee to fix it. My wife mention she notice the sound after i replace my rim and tyres. Not sure if it's linked. Any help appreciated
  11. Recently went for servicing; changed engine oil, oil filter and alternator. Funny thing is after driving for about 10 mins onwards, I will hear a squeaking sound from the steering wheel when I turn in either clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation. This is abnormal because it was OK before the servicing. The squeaking sound is like rubber rubbing against each other due to friction but I cannot be sure. My dad is saying the mechanic might have over tightened something. Anybody here has experience with this problem?
  12. Damn pissed off with the guard at my work place this was what happened today. The car park was full... me: (waits at the entrance hopping that someone will go out and i can go in), i am still in the car the guard comes guard:you cannot park here me: i am waiting for some one to come out so that i can go in guard: you cannot wait here cos your car is near my sensor and will wrack havock in my system. (not true as i have done it later in the afternoon, waited for like 15 min) me: so, i move to one side without my car above your sensor. guard: that will be obstructing traffic coming into the car park. AND I WILL CLAMP YOUR WHEEL. me: what traffic, i am waiting inside the vehicle guard: : you still cannot park and i will clamp your wheel, you can go to other carpark me: ) drives off) then back at my work place: I saw the guard trying to clamp a buffet cafeteria's van while the diver was making his delivery (van was parked at the fire engine access) F**k that guard. if this is going to happen tomorrow again i will call the police. I just noted that the sign outside the carpark states 'cars park illegally will be clamp/tow' no mention of waiting
  13. Something like this....anyone know where can get? Cost? Please advise....thanks
  14. Need advise on how to self check if wheel bearing is worn. I've replaced a new set of tires but the woot woot noise persist. Very irritating... Also thinking of replacing front brake rotors as the steering wheel vibrates when depressing brake to slow down... Or do I have to replace rear rotors as well? Do I need to send the car for wheel alignment after doing the above repairs/replacements? Btw my car mileage is 135kkm and has not done replace the above arts before. Thanks!

  16. I am thinking of changing steering wheel... I tot the only way to change is> get a new steering wheel (e.g. Sparco) + usage of Quick release Then i saw some forum/mass order merchant saying that changing of steering wheel is legal but usage of Quick release is illegal... 1) so is changing steering wheel illegal? 2) if dont use quick release, still can change steering wheel?? :crycry:
  17. Need recommendations for a reputable WS in A.V. to do wheel alignment for my car. I was told by tire shop my rear wheels are not aligned so causes my tires to wear more on one side... Thanks!
  18. Any bros know where I can buy 5mm-10mm universal wheel spacers? Thank you

  21. A friend of mine was car hunting lately so I accompanied him to view the ride at a PI's... When we popped the trunk, we were surprised to see no spare wheel. Taking its place in the tyre well was a so-called "repair kit"...in the words of the SE serving us. According to the SE, most drivers dont know how to replace a wheel in the event of a punctured tyre. Seems like we have come a long way... Recently, my rear wheels were emitting some noises especially when the brakes havent warmed up in the morning. So I decided to DIY clean the brakes this morning. Had the opportunity to take some pics for the benefit of those who are willing to get their hands dirty when the need arises to replace a wheel. Pics coming up...
  22. HI. Can recommend shop that has On Wheel Balancing. On 16inch and did once in Johor (can't remember price) for my front wheels. Solved my steering vibration at 90+km/hr hour. Recently rotated my rears to the fronts. WS only balanced the Fronts on machine per normal. Vibration again when traveling between 90 to 100km/hr. No time go Johor, so was wondering if there's this service in Singapore and how much would it cost roughly? Thanks.
  23. Steering wheel can be said to the motif of the car's interior. In my opinion, I think the best looking steering wheel has got to be the Merc's signature steering wheel now: Anyone got any others to share?
