  3. Hi, I have less than 6 months to go (mid-Nov) before I need to scrap my car. Given the unstable market, what would be the best course of action? e.g. scrap car immediately and/or encash PARF/COE rebate? Wait for couple more months to enter second hand market? Thanks!
  4. I had an accident this morning with a taxi. The taxi and my vehicle were barely damaged. Therefore, we decided to settle this privately. However, here's the strange thing. We decided upon 350 as the settlement amount, however, i required him to sign on the paper, stating his name, IC and vehicle number, agreeing to accept 350 and do not claim insurance. This bugger told me that he cannot give his name and ic number, he just wants the $ w/o signing. So i said no, but he die die wants the 350 cash w/o signing anything. So now, all he has is my hp number and license plate number. And all i have are the same info. We do not have each others particulars because he was not willing to show me.. Also, i do not have photos of the accident as he jus sped off after concluding there was no private settlement, telling me that he was gg to claim insurance. Being a newbie, what i dunno is that can he claim insurance just based on my license plate?? Also, how i know he would not claim me a huge sum of money, saying that a big deal was damaged as i do not have the photos to prove anything? I plan to claim my insurance too to protect myself. Any ideas on what this driver may do? or whether he can claim insurance on me based on license plate number?

  6. Spy shooting it's all about being in the right place at the right time. And this photographer just caught probably some of the shots of his life. Not only did he captured a Lamborghini Aventador cold weather testing in the frigid Arctic Circle, but also caught the test driver losing control and going sailing through an intersection and into a snowbank, documenting the crash frame-by-frame. Check the animated image here
  7. Is disc rotor universal? As long as the hole and diameter match? For example, 5 x 100 296mm can be used for any make and model which is using the same spec?
  8. Happened last night at 1 am. The mum who just got married last March jumper down from the 25th floor with her 6 month old daughter in her arms. Reminds me of the bedok reservoir case when the mum committed suicide with her 3 yo son due to depression last year.
  9. Hi guys, any idea which 7 seaters, whether SUVs, MPVs or Stationwagons, have a boot-space when all the seats are up? From what i see, most of them, when all the seats are up, have totally no boot space left, or only enough to put a mouse LOL Cheers.

  11. Dream or nightmare – you decide. 17-year-old Russian powerlifter Yulia Viktorovna Vins, or Julia Vins, has the face of a perfect doll and the body of someone who could probably beat the snot out of you. Julia is only one of many young Barbie-doll or anime-girl look-alikes, but she is the first I’ve seen with a competitive powerlifter’s body. According to an interview she held, she never even intended to become a professional powerlifter when she first began working out – she was simply looking for strength and self-confidence. After seeking the help of a powerlifting trainer, she excelled at the sport and is now preparing for her first competition in September. Julia has attracted both admiration and criticism, but this hasn’t fazed her. “There will always be people who respect my choice, or simply adequately explain why they don’t agree with it, but there is nothing to be gained by trying to defame someone who is following their dream,” I, for one, am happy to give her my respect and, should she ever happen to ask me for it, my lunch money. 12. HU with Bluetooth are always more expensive, but is this Bluetooth function really useful and good to have? The difference in cost for a HU with BT and one without, could probably be around $150? Which can easily get a Bluetooth headset which can be use for both calls and music, in and out of the car. I've tried to pair it with my GPS, and my experience is, the mic doesn't seem to be able to pick up my voice well and I will have to shout in order for the other party to hear me. Beside, maybe I'm to idealistic, I was hoping that the voice command function can allow me to make calls via speech, but unfortunately cannot. Like to have some feedback from drivers who use the BT function for calls, before I decide which HU I should get.
  13. wah, fierce. And RIP for the young girl. Ill treat the maid until explode ?? http://sg.news.yahoo.com/girl-found-dead-with-two-stab-wounds-at-tampines-flat--report-104841341.html A 16-year-old girl was found dead Thursday in a Tampines flat and police have classified it as a murder case. Police said that a 28-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident. Investigations are ongoing. The Straits Times reported that the girl apparently had two stab wounds to the front of the torso area and that the woman who was arrested was understood to be the maid. A female neighbor that spoke to the broadsheet said that shrieks were heard coming from the flat at 856B Tampines Street 82 at around 12pm. A spokesperson from the Singapore Civil Defence Force said that they received a call for assistance at 1pm. Upon arrival, paramedics pronounced the female individual dead at the scene.
  14. LOUIS VUITTON PULLS OUT OF SINGAPORE STREET DOG FUNDRAISER BECAUSE DOGS ARE TOO LOW CLASS Post date: 14 Nov 2013 - 2:15pm Source : http://therealsingapore.com/content/louis-vuitton-pulls-out-singapore-street-dog-fundraiser-because-dogs-are-too-low-class The road to saving stray dogs is an uphill one, filled with set backs & difficulties. Esquire Magazine asked me yesterday why, I, an aesthetics doctor who people will view as being living in glamour & driving a nice car, decided to dedicate my life to doing this. I replied that before I started saving street dogs, I was indeed one of such people- chasing the "Singapore dream". But embarking on such a journey changes you profoundly. At the beginning, people thought I was doing this to get attention, waiting for me to give up. My colleagues, parents and loved ones were dead against it, telling me to spend my time and money doing better things. But compassion is a universal language. We may all have different views, but at our core, everyone speaks the same simple language of kindness - not only to humans, but to animals as well. That is what unites us in saving Singapore's street dogs. My interview with the good people at Esquire Magazine yesterday was supposed to be for a charity fundraiser with Louis Vuitton . LV donated some items which would be auctioned, and the proceeds donated to Save Our Street Dogs. But in a dramatic turn of events, they pulled out during the photoshoot despite initially agreeing to be part of it - because LV felt that dogs, MONGRELS,, stray dogs, in particular, are too LOW CLASS for their brand image. It is an difficult road we have chosen to take, because many corporations and people are still blinded only with superficial glitter & bright lights, falsely holding onto the belief that the make-belief world of "luxury" they have crafted for themselves is the real one. To these corporations and people, "charity" is merely a means of making their brand look better, or making themselves look good - not for altruism. These people have forgotten the most important language of all - the language of compassion. Hawk Cut Weis Founder of SaveOurStreetDogs.com
  15. A FATHER of nine who had sex with an underage girl was jailed for 18 months on Tuesday. Azmee Ahmad, 30, a technician, pleaded guilty to having sex with the 14-year-old girl at a staircase landing of a block of flats at Bukit Batok Street 33 in March last year. The Secondary 2 student became acquainted with Azmee on the Alamak Chat and told him she was 14. He lied that he was 20 and also hid his marital status from her. After a few sessions of chatting, he asked her to be his girlfriend and she agreed. Subsequently, he asked her to meet him at the void deck of Block 329 Bukit Batok Street 33. After staying at the void deck for a while, he took her to a staircase landing nearby where he had consensual sex with the victim He could have been jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined. 16. ...is a no no. If your workshop is still doing this, you are well advised to find another. And the reason is something called "Load Dump" Depending on certain conditions, a high voltage of up to 120V can be sent to your ECU. If it survived, you're lucky. If it's crippled or dead, oh well.. According to wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Load_dump In automotive electronics, it refers to the disconnection of the vehicle battery from the alternator while the battery is being charged. Due to such a disconnection of the battery, other loads connected to the alternator see a surge in power line. The peak voltage of this surge may be as high as 120 V and the surge may take up to 400 ms to decay.
  17. 5 years ago, just before I left regular service in the army, I did a ORD check-up and discovered I had abnormal ECG. A "cycling test" revealed that one of my artery may be blocked. Doc advised me to go for a angiogram and also balloon at the same time if the procedure confirmed that indeed the artery is blocked. I missed the appointment and have never been back. No problems like chest pain etc... Now I have 2 kids and feel more responsible and that episode has never been out of my mind, especially when people around me talks about going for "balloon" or hearing about friends of friends having a stroke... Now its time to step out of denial and face it... have a appt at SGH Heart Centre early next year. Can't find much local info on this. Any bros have such experience to share? Also, what is est damage? Have very basic medisave/ shield with no rider. Also only insurance is SAF AVIVA Group term Life plus some 30 major illness top-up. Assuming it won't be $8 for me, financially wise am I in shit here if a balloon/ bypass is indeed necessary?

  19. Number of notices issued on the rise, but other violations have fallen: LTA KEEPING TO THE LIMIT: While most lorry loads keep within the designated passenger loads, an increasing number are violating the maximum limit. The number of lorry drivers caught carrying too many workers on their vehicles is on the rise, going by latest figures provided by the Land Transport Authority (LTA). There were 559 notices issued to drivers for carrying too many passengers on lorry load decks for the first eight months of this year alone, surpassing the number of notices issued for the whole of last year. There were 429 notices issued last year, a jump of more than eight times from the 51 in 2011. Since September last year, every worker has been required to have at least 8 sq ft of deck space to himself, up from 4 sq ft previously. Another rule was introduced to reduce the number of workers that may be carried, if goods or equipment are also transported, according to the remaining available floor space. 22. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-24618701 US drone strike killings in Pakistan and Yemen 'unlawful' CIA drone attacks in Pakistan are responsible for unlawful killings, some of which could amount to war crimes, Amnesty International says. Amnesty said it reviewed nine recent drone strikes in North Waziristan and found a number of victims were unarmed. In a separate report looking at six US attacks in Yemen, Human Rights Watch says two of them killed civilians at random, violating international law. Drone warfare has become common in the US pursuit of al-Qaeda and the Taliban. Few details are known about the covert US drone operation. Senior al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders have been killed in drone strikes in Pakistan, but civilians have also died. These attacks cause outrage in Pakistan, where many assert that the strikes cause indiscriminate deaths and injuries. Last week, a UN investigation found that US drone strikes had killed at least 400 civilians in Pakistan, far more than the US has ever acknowledged. UN special rapporteur Ben Emmerson accused the US of challenging international legal norms by advocating the use of lethal force outside war zones. Establishing precise casualty figures and identifying the dead in such attacks is virtually impossible as independent media are barred from tribal areas near the Afghan border. 'Very tight leash' Amnesty said it had investigated nine of 45 recently reported attacks by US drones, unmanned aircraft operated remotely in control rooms, often on other continents. The group called on the US to disclose information and the legal basis for strikes carried out in Pakistan. In the report, Will I Be Next? US Drone Strikes in Pakistan, the rights group named several victims who, it says, had been unarmed and "posed no threat to life". In October 2012, 68-year-old grandmother Mamana Bibi was killed in a double strike as she picked vegetables in the family's fields while surrounded by her grandchildren, said the report. It said US President Barack Obama's pledge earlier this year to increase transparency around drone strikes had not been fulfilled. "This secrecy has enabled the USA to act with impunity and block victims from receiving justice or compensation. As far as Amnesty is aware, no US official has ever been held to account for unlawful killings by drones in Pakistan," the report said. It called on the governments of Pakistan, Australia, Germany and the UK to investigate drone strikes or other abuses that may constitute human rights violations. Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch said in its report that six US drone attacks in Yemen killed 82 people, including at least 57 civilians. It added that two of the strikes killed innocent people indiscriminately. A controversial aspect of the US policy is that drone attacks are carried out not by the military but by the Central Intelligence Agency. US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has argued in favour of the policy, saying that the US will continue to defend itself. President Obama has insisted the strategy was "kept on a very tight leash" and that without the drones, the US would have had to resort to "more intrusive military action".
  23. Remember as a kid when you yearned for those crazy Hot Wheels cars that changed color when you dunked them in hot and cold water? It was about as much fun as you could have, short of striking first in a game of roshambo. It's the kind of fun you just can't have as an adult. Fortunately, a small UK body shop called Auto Kandy claims to have created a solution for those still dreaming of multi-colored Mustangs: Paint your car in thermochromic paint, and have yourself a full-size Hot Wheels color shifter. As the video below documents, the car used to showcase the wacky paintwork is an orange Nissan Skyline R33. By pouring cold water on the car, the paint transforms from orange to deep purple. While lacking smoke, the heat-sensitive paint adjusts its coloring via pigments, changing color as the temperature swings. The whole process costs just $320, but it will only last four to six months, due to excessive damage from UV light exposure. It begs the question: What's the point? After all, it looks as if the car's been vandalized by a giant flock of pigeons that feed only on purple Skittles. And how bored must you be to pour cold water on your car, only for it to change back minutes later as the temperature normalizes? Personally, I'd rather the ChromaFlair colorings used on cars like the TVR Tuscan. That way, I wouldn't look as if I'd bumped into Barney after an all-night bender. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT6raekYHG4&feature=player_embedded
  24. Hey guys, Thought I'd share this video I made with you. The process no matter what car you have is the same and you don't need to remove your bumper to do it, I had to fix the net and some clips so I just happened to have it down. Hopefully this will give you an idea on how it might look on your car! You can skip to the last 30 seconds if you just want to see the results and not the process! A can usually goes for around 30$ right? And you don't need much for this, so total cost it around 5$. (Including paper and tape) Happy plasti diping folks! :) http://youtu.be/4j6zSpgZprw
