  1. Got this from Yahoo .... 7 things women find unattractive about men Unattractive male habit 1: Boasting Some guys big themselves up so much that it would appear they're trying to prove to themselves that they're a good catch. Do you think that all this bragging will make us overlook the fact that you're so boring? Unattractive male habit 2: Having no old-fashioned values We don't expect you to act like one of the gentlemen from a Charles Dickens' film, but not being gentlemanly at all is a huge turn-off. Unattractive male habit 3: No sense of humour If there's one thing a man must possess to make us feel attracted to them, it's a sense of humour. It's a powerful tool in a conversation, particularly when overcoming awkward moments, and not having one makes you seem overly serious and boring. Unattractive male habit 4: Scratching your private parts They're the big manly hands we like to hold, the hands that make us feel safe, the hands you cook the tea with on the odd occasion, and the hands you er... scratch your privates with

  3. We all know water vapour condensates onto particles forming water droplets in clouds. Once it becomes too heavy with water condensate, it starts to rain So my question is like this... Assumuing there is this mass of cloud....it gets darker and darker...contains more water. Then when it reaches its threshold, it starts to rain. So after it rains for 5 minutes, i am sure the amount of water in the cloud is less than the amount of water in the cloud just before it reached its threshold. So why doesnt it stop raining after 5 mins???

  10. From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Story/...ory_802913.html Two-and-a-half tales about service Published on May 25, 2012 ON MONDAY, I shopped at Winter Time in 313@Somerset shopping mall, where I was served by a Filipino and a Chinese national. The Filipino showed me many types of luggage, patiently explaining the attributes of each. He reached for one that was hardest to reach because I liked it, and which I finally settled on. In the clothing section, the Chinese national offered helpful advice on the winter wear she thought I would need. When the outfit I liked was not available in my size, she called the other outlets and reserved a set for me. Needless to say, I was impressed by the professional and courteous service. Subsequently, my wife and children visited the outlet at VivoCity and were served by a Singaporean. When my wife asked her about a design on the upper rack, she replied that it was too high and suggested my wife try out an outfit to determine her size before choosing the design. That done, my wife picked the design she wanted, only to be told that it was also too hard to reach. Instead, the salesgirl offered the same design two sizes smaller because it was more convenient. Needless to say, my wife left without buying. Singaporeans are missing a positive attitude, fighting spirit and the drive to achieve more. Our solution to the foreign competition we face is simply to complain. But are foreigners stealing our jobs or are we losing jobs to them? Are employers choosing foreigners because they are cheaper, or because they are better workers? Finally, I offer a vignette from South Korea to round up my pair of anecdotes about service and productivity. When I visited the country, I chanced upon a single attendant manning six kiosks at a petrol station. He directed traffic, pumped petrol and processed credit cards and payments single-handedly. I would bet his boss was not looking to hire a low-wage foreigner. I hope we will adopt a more resilient mentality and a positive attitude. We have the language advantage and if we have the right mindset, there is nothing to fear about this new reality of foreign competition. Lim Chong Jen
  11. From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp...1197405/1/.html North Korea marks Army Day, vowing war against South Posted: 25 April 2012 2014 hrs SEOUL: North Korea's military chief of staff accused the United States and South Korea on Wednesday of plotting war but said his country's own weaponry could destroy their armaments in "a single blow". Vice-Marshal Ri Yong-Ho also repeated threats of war against South Korea, vowing to "cut the throats" of those seen as defaming Pyongyang's leadership. The North has made a series of increasingly strongly worded threats against the South in recent weeks. On Monday its military threatened "special actions" soon to turn parts of Seoul to ashes. Some analysts believe the new young leader Kim Jong-Un is trying to bolster his military credentials and divert attention from a failed rocket launch this month. Ri, in a speech marking Army Day, credited Jong-Un's late father Kim Jong-Il with strengthening the 1.2 million-strong military in the nuclear-armed state. Because of this, he said, "our military is now equipped with strong modern weapons capable of destroying what the imperialists call highly sophisticated weapons by a single blow". The launch, which attracted UN condemnation, was to have been the centrepiece of celebrations in mid-April marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of founding leader Kim Il-Sung. The North bridled at comments by the South's President Lee Myung-Bak and conservative media, who said the money spent on the launch could have bought food for the perennially hungry nation. "Our military and people are full of rage against the Lee Myung-Bak's traitor groups, who dared to commit such an extreme criminal act as defaming our system and the top leadership," Ri told a national meeting in the April 25 House of Culture. "Our military and people will launch a retaliatory war in our own way... to cut the throats of the reckless provocateurs and crush the source of provocations without a trace." The US and its ally the South were making "ever-intensifying plots for war", he said. The ceremony attended by Kim Jong-Un and other top leaders marked what the North calls the 80th anniversary of the military's founding, during the guerrilla struggle against Japanese colonial forces. The North says its rocket launch was part of a peaceful bid to put a satellite in orbit, and not a disguised missile test as the US and its allies maintain. Some analysts believe it will now stage a nuclear test, as it did in 2006 and 2009 following international censure of its rocket launches. A former chief US nuclear negotiator said on Wednesday any third test would be "somehow different and bigger" than the previous two. Christopher Hill did not elaborate in an interview in Seoul with Yonhap news agency. Some analysts believe it will use fuel from a uranium enrichment programme disclosed in 2010, rather than plutonium as previously.
  12. By spoilers I mean someone revealing the plot of a movie, TV series, book, computer game and so on. (Not that picnic bench some people put behind their car) Personally, I am ok with spoilers. I can still enjoy something even if I know the full plot before hand. But then there is a group of people who die die cannot hear spoilers like their world will end liddat. One thing I noticed about these anti-spoiler people is that some of them are just going through motions when they say "don't tell me". It seems to be a preconditioned social response rather than an expression of genuine strong feelings towards the issue. I think the party with most to gain from preventing spoilers are the movie producers and authors themselves. The less people that blab about the plot, the more potential kaypohs that will buy a ticket or a book.
  13. The policy makers are going bananas over the present low birth rate or the total fertility rate (TFR) of 1.2 amongst us which is well below the replacement rate of 2.1. As such, they are advocating bringing in immigrants of 25,000/yr to be on the safe side. Of course this is an emotive issue which does not really go down well with many citizens... Anyway having children to me is mainly a personal choice and I dare say many parents are not thinking of the BIG picture of having kids for the sake of the future of Singapore. I have friends or relatives who are mostly having at least 2 kids so the TFR of 1.2 is not prevalent amongst folks I know. In fact there are 4 young couples I know of having 3 kids each and tellingly they are affluent, with three of them staying in landed properties and with in-laws and maids helping out in the care-giving. There are of course couples I know who are adamant about not having kids and wanting to enjoy living out the DINKs aka 二人世界 lifestyle. To them personal freedom and enjoying their undisturbed lifesyle beats the h*ll outa having to have babies and painstakingly nurturing them to adulthood. Then there are those singles who does not even habour the thought of settling down or whom have not met the right one and like the DINK couples are earning their keeps and enjoy singlehood life as they know how. For us, we have two naughty chewren and is the best thing that has happened to us and though we are not staying in swanky condos or driving big cars, we are happy and contented with the HDB living and having a beat-up B&B car for transport. Life is not luxurious but we get by. Holidays are short family getaways to Malaysia and Thailand. What about you? For those who are married or cohabiting, care to share why you have kids or do not wish to have one? How is it affecting your lifestyle?
  14. OK, serious discussion here. the situation is like this. We have a few persistent trolls/clones/numbskulls who cannot behave. The exchange came to a mutual agreement and we are both on the same page. However, we keep seeing persistent folks coming here, and the latest is the oil fellow. Is there an ulterior motive? What is it that keeps you coming back? for most of our forummers, the message is clear, but for those trouble makers? Pls offer some insight. Thanks

  19. In another year or so, we can forget about traffic jams, here's the reason..... CNA report : Flying car cleared for takeoff Posted: 03 April 2012 1246 hrs WASHINGTON: Drivers hoping to slip the surly -- and traffic congested -- bonds of Earth moved a step closer to realizing their dream, as a US firm said it had successfully tested a street-legal plane. Massachusetts-based firm Terrafugia said their production prototype "Transition" car-plane had completed an eight-minute test flight, clearing the way for it to hit the market within a year. "With this flight, the team demonstrated an ability to accomplish what had been called an impossible dream," said founder Carl Dietrich. The two-seater craft, which has the rounded features of a Fiat 500 and collapsible wings, is on presale for $279,000 and some 100 vehicles have already been ordered. While many companies have successfully built a flying car, none have succeeded in producing more than a handful of models. But things have changed since the clunky Curtiss Autoplane hopped and spluttered into action in the early 1900s. New materials and computer-aided design mean today's flying cars are cheaper and lighter to build. They also look more like "Blade Runner" than "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". The successful test flight has given hope to aficionados that this staple of science fiction is a step closer to reality. "Is it going to be like the Jetsons with everyone driving one in five years? No," admitted Winfield Keller, vice president of The International Flying Car Association, a trade group. "But we are getting to the point where 10, maybe 15 years from now that the people owning and operating (them) will be everyday people." In the meantime, manufacturers hope they can build something that appeals to border security agencies, the police or the military, as well as hobbyists. Terrafugia is targeting pilots looking for a bit more flexibility and fewer hangar fees. Spanning 90 inches (2.3m) the same as a car, it fits into a normal-sized garage, before unfurling a 26-foot (8m) wingspan. The Transition, they say, offers unparalleled freedom of movement, with a range of 490 miles (787 kilometres) and without the need to check bags. But to take advantage, would-be owners will need to have both a driver's and pilot's licence -- with a minimum of 20 hours of flying time. The craft needs 2,500 feet (762 metres) of runway for takeoff, meaning pulling onto the shoulder and escaping the traffic is not really an option. "The Transition Street-Legal Airplane is now a significant step closer to being a commercial reality," the company said. At least two other companies are racing to bring an autoplane to the market. Dutch company PAL-V has tested a prototype gyrocopter-style car. It hopes to now build a full production prototype and to have the first deliveries by 2014. California-based Moller International has built a personal vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, although it requires a little more training to operate. - AFP/al so what kind of COE & Licence required for this car ????
