  1. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/genting-highlands-accident-6-dead-malaysia-tourist-van-3262986?cid=FBcna In images of the accident's aftermath circulating on social media, the badly damaged van can be seen resting against a barrier on a downhill section of the road. Another photo shows six body bags laid out on the road behind an emergency vehicle. RIP!
  2. We’ve seen many examples of bad driving in this forum, but this one is just malicious. What happened? On 11 May, 8.51 a.m. at Tampines Expressway, a Hyundai Elantra driver decided to hit a motorcycle while disguising it as lane filtering. As you can see in the video, the Hyundai was coming in from another road to join the expressway. Immediately the Hyundai went across multiple lanes at once, and headed for the motorcycle like a missile. The motorcyclist had a pillion rider as well, and both of them were sent rolling across the tarmac, their bike skidding away. The Hyundai showed no remorse for the move, as there was not even a hint of braking or turning away before the impact. The driver simply continued on their way like nothing happened, not stopping to check if he committed vehicular manslaughter. We can see when the Hyundai driver passes the camcar that he left his turn signal on when he was “lane filtering”. Uproar Motorists of all sorts were none too pleased by such behaviour on the road, condemning the Hyundai driver Others also noted how the incident looked intentional, as the driver showed no concern after hitting the bike. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. This reminded me of when I was young and addicted to the Asphalt racing games. Remember how you’d boost with nitro and ram into the side of your opponent to prevent them from getting past you? This one is like that, but with less cool cars. What happened? On 5 May 2023, a Skoda Octavia on the ECP Expressway tried to overtake a camcar and ended up getting pit manouevred, causing it to hit the railing. The Skoda was initially keeping a safe distance behind the camcar, moving left to enter another lane. To the Skoda’s credit they used their signals for this move. However, when trying to overtake the camcar, the Skoda misjudged its speed and turned in too early, with the back end of the car still within reach of the camcar. We can’t see if the Skoda turned on its turn signal in the footage. If it did, some blame can be shifted to the camcar for not slowing down for it. But looking at the footage, we can also see the Skoda took no time to check if it cleared the camcar and went for the overtake very quickly. So regardless if the camcar made a mistake, the majority of the blame is still squarely on the Skoda. Fortunately the accident does not seem severe, as the Skoda got away with some minor damage to it’s exterior. Online chatter Some netizens seem to think that the camcar sped up in the footage, and that they were hogging the lane. Others just blame the skoda for being impatient and overtaking. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. Volvo is pretty renowned for how safe their cars are. The brand’s models qualify for the highest possible safety rating from the IIHS (International Institute for Highway Safety) and there's tons of airbags to protect the car's occupants no matter the point of impact. Nonetheless, this driver’s behaviour still isn’t advisable. What happened? On 1st May at Thomson Road, a camcar was minding their own business when a Volvo V40 tried to merge from a minor road to the major road that the cam car is on. It is unclear what was the Volvo driver’s thinking process but it had to be influenced by something (probably starting with A) in order to think this was a good idea. The Volvo driver went across not one, not two, but three lanes before stopping just in time to avoid kissing the wall and expensive repairs. According to the Facebook post, a bus also needed to jam brakes along with the camcar. It’s a shame there’s no audio in the footage because I know it’d be colorful. The Volvo then drove off without a word, but likely with stained pants. Online chatter Once again, the standards of our driving school are called into question. Others asked if the driver had a license at all. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. Now I know why when you make a mess it’s sometimes called a skidmark. Watch this video to see what kind of mess the lorry and taxi made when they came together. What happened? On 1 May 2023, a crash involving a lorry and a Hyundai taxi took place at the junction of Bras Basah Road and Nicoll Highway in front of Suntec Convention Centre. It is unclear as to the causes of the crash as the two cars are faced away from each other. The lorry was facing towards the entrance of Esplanade MRT while the taxi still faced the direction of the road. Think of one of those diagrams for vectors in O-Levels (ughhhhh). The lorry has been flipped to its side, while the taxi is some distance away from it with an open fuel tank and missing its entire front end. I’m really confused by this crash because the taxi is some distance away from the lorry, facing a completely different direction than the lorry even after impact. But somehow it was not hit with enough force to flip the taxi over or deal more structural damage. The video also shows a glimpse of a deployed airbag in the taxi, but no signs of any one having been inside the vehicle. SCDF personnel were present to close off the scene and gather evidence from the taxi. The taxi also left a trail of fluids behind it and intermittent skid marks on the road. If the trail is wet, does it become diarrhea instead? We do not know the condition of the drivers or if any pedestrians were involved. Online chatter Many speculate speeding on at least one driver’s fault, with one commenter joking about testing the new F1 route. And of course, someone had to bring attention to the skid mark. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 6. TL;DR - Domino's Pizza delivery bike plays real-life game of dodge the NV200 at a discretionary right turn Pizza delivery gone wrong. Watch this 40 second clip of the collision. What Happened? A Nissan NV200 collided with a Domino's Pizza delivery bike at the discretionary right turn junction on Pioneer North Road in Singapore, under the PIE Flyover. The incident caused damage to both vehicles and raised concerns about road safety for delivery drivers. According to eyewitnesses, the Domino's Pizza delivery bike was traveling straight on Pioneer North Road when the Nissan NV200 made a right turn without signaling, causing the collision. The delivery driver was thrown from his bike and sustained minor injuries, while the NV200 suffered significant damage to its front end. Online Chat Amongst the hundreds of comments, the majority of them were pinpointing that this road is extremely dangerous. Hello @LTA? So please have more patience for people who are delivering your food, they’re delivering more than just your pizza - it comes with a side of risk. Nissan NV200 driver and the rider must have forgotten they're not playing Mario Kart… Takeaway The incident highlights the importance of road safety, especially at discretionary right turns where accidents are usually most seen at such junctions. Delivery riders, who are often required to navigate busy roads and make multiple stops in a short amount of time, make them the ones that are most at risk of such accidents. Above all, all drivers should practice cautiousness on the road and be extra vigilant - treat all junctions as accident black-spot zones and ride expecting the unexpected. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. TL;DR - GetGo driver thinks he’s in Tokyo Drift and crashes into 3 cars. Learns there are consequences to his actions. Prayers for the original poster of this video for keeping his cool. I know I wouldn’t if I was in his position. Read on to see why. What happened? On 18th April in a Punggol multi-storey car park, a 23 year old GetGo driver was speeding at 50km/h and hit 3 cars that were parked together. We can see that a Kia Cerato, Mitsubishi Outlander and a van that looks like a Toyota Hiace were the victims, with the first two taking the brunt of the impact. The original poster of this incident was the owner of one of the cars. The Facebook post stated that the owner was happily spring cleaning his house with Hari Raya songs at full blast when he suddenly heard a loud bang and car alarms. He learnt that the GetGo driver was daydreaming as he was speeding, and made him call his father down as he seemed scared and was a “23 year old kid”. The original poster ended with a quote saying "No one got hurt. Heartbreak only. I held back my tears, the car is my baby." Bless this owner, I hope he can get his car fixed. We have no infomation on the identity of the GetGo driver, if he was intoxicated while driving, or if the original poster would be compensated for his repairs. Online chatter People brought to attention that the driver was 23 and an adult, not a kid and should be able to understand consequences of speeding in a carpark. Others noted how common it is to find such drivers behind the wheel of private hire vehicles. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 8. Singaporeans spend so much time rushing here and there, living hectic lives. Sometimes, with everything that's happening, you neglect your own safety, and, in this case, you get put to sleep by a higher power. If you watched the recent Mortal Kombat movie, the way the jaywalker flew reminds me of this scene. But I digress. Let's get right into the video. It's a sunny (風和日麗) afternoon along a 2-lane road. The right lane is congested. The cam car navigates his way to the left lane (I would too to escape waiting). The cam car speeds up on the empty left lane and "Mr Ronaldo" (I'm going to call the jaywalker Mr Ronaldo) dashes out of nowhere into the path of the cam car. "Mr Ronaldo" 👇 BAM! Ouch! What an impact. It looks painful, doesn't it? The impact is so strong that it even sends him flying and flipping before crumpling to an unconscious heap on the road. The driver does not look like it's going extremely fast as he just started picking up speed not too long before Mr Ronaldo jumped in. Think of Mr Ronaldo like a tennis ball and the cam car as a tennis racket. That's rebounding at the maximum velocity right there. Here's the full video. Your-Facebook-Video-fbdown.net.mp4 While it does not look life threatening, I wish Mr Ronaldo a quick recovery and please watch out for traffic when you cross the road! Even better still, don't jaywalk!
  9. TL;DR - Fists fly as e-biker and driver clash in heated argument over road safety Near-miss turns into not-so-fun fisticuffs: Road rage brawl ensues! Watch this 49 second clip of an e-biker and a driver come to blows in a shocking altercation. What Happened? An e-bike got into a heated altercation with the driver of a Nissan Sylphy, resulting in a (one-sided) physical squabble. Fortunately, a camcar driver who was just behind the camcar noticed the commotion and quickly intervened, stepping in and diffusing the situation. The camcar driver was able to calm the e-biker down and prevent the situation from escalating any further. It is alleged that the incident occurred when the Nissan Sylphy attempted to overtake the e-biker on a narrow road, coming dangerously close to the e-biker in the process. The e-biker, feeling threatened and upset, shouted at the driver to be more careful. Online Chat Some netizens were saying how it could’ve been the Sylphy's fault since he ‘didn’t dare to leave his car’ while some are banking on the e-biker’s fault, since he was the one (and only one) who was throwing punches in the air the whole time. Who do you think is at fault? Comment down below! Takeaway The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining calm and composure on Singapore's roads, especially in situations where tensions may be running high. It is crucial for all road users to show respect and consideration for one another, regardless of whether they are driving a car, riding a bike, or walking. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 10. Uncle was probably driving himself to the centre to meet his friends, and he ended up almost meeting God instead. What happened? On 14 April 2023, a 77 year old man crashed his Audi A3 into the Kolam Ayer Senior Citizens’ Centre at Block 44 Sims Drive. Pictures of the incident were sent to The Straits Times, and we can see the front of the A3 wedged between the doorway, and that the impact has damaged the building. Chunks of the doorway were knocked out where the car hit the centre. A spokesman from Kolam Ayer Community Club told The Straits Times that the centre was not open at the time of the incident, and there was nobody inside. Uncle might want to check for dementia right about now. Both the police and Civil Defence Force were alerted to the accident at about 11.20, and the SCDF took the driver to the hospital who was luckily, conscious. I do find it weird the car was able to accelerate so fast it made enough force to take a chunk out of the doorway, which means uncle has a heavy foot or thought it was the brake somehow. Online chatter Some of the jokes made were morbid, but good enough to forget about it and laugh. Others used this as an example to prevent the elderly from driving on account of their degraded motor skills and reflexes. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 11. How easy is it to get a motorcycle license? Whoever’s in charge might want to up the difficulty if this rider was able to pass. What happened? On 17 April yesterday, a motorcyclist and their passenger hit a Nissan NV350 while changing lanes on the Pan-Island Expressway. Yeah, ‘big whoop’, I hear you say, but what gets me is how avoidable this was. Another biker was able to continue in that same lane with no issues. You could argue it’s that other biker’s fault, since they passed them right before they were about to change lanes. But they were still facing the road and so could see that this biker was going way faster than them. There was also enough distance to see that there was plenty of time to slow down. However, if you look at the Nissan, notice how it accelerated before slowing down as well. Yet even once it slowed down, there’s a solid two seconds before our main biker hit the Nissan with no signs of braking. Regardless of external factors, bro does not know what braking is. As a result, both rider and pillion took a rough fall. Both of them were not wearing riding gear and rolled a couple times. Yikes. Online chatter For some reason, Facebook users seem to have a knack with involving women despite how they may have zero influence on the situation. As seen with the female pillion rider. No comment on that… Others criticised the rider for not paying attention, which put not only his life at risk but also his passenger’s. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 12. TL;DR - Garbage truck loses control and crashes into traffic light while almost taking out a pedestrian This is exactly why you should never use your phone while crossing the road! Watch this 60-second clip to see how vigilant the pedestrian was (phew, thankfully) What happened? On April 16, a Sembcorp garbage truck lost control and caused an accident along Ganges Ave. One pedestrian narrowly avoided the collision. SGRV’s Facebook page received dashcam video of the incident, which showed a white garbage truck veering suddenly at a traffic light. The truck slammed into both the traffic light and the divider. A woman crossing the intersection managed to see the approaching truck and quickly sprinted back to the side of the road for safety. Online Chat Can’t imagine if she was distracted by her phone and whatnot… Gosh. Many netizens were commending the pedestrian, not just for her fast reflexes but also how vigilant she was. While the rest were bashing the truck driver. Of course. Is this Terminator in action? Perhaps Sembcorp should terminate him lah… Takeaway Always ensure that vehicles are stopped at the stop line and look out for traffic before crossing the road. You'll never know what goes on behind the wheels. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 14. You’d think after we’ve written so many posts about drivers running red lights and failing there’d be fewer cases. This is why you guys should share our articles so that your friends will be made aware of the consequences of driving recklessly (i.e, being our next post)! What happened? A Volkswagen Jetta tried to run a red light after failing to give way to a red MPV that I believe is a Honda Stream. Don’t quote me on that second one though. The footage shows the Jetta speeding up at the intersection right as the MPV was turning, like he was going to make that gap at all. Bro definitely has Ayrton Senna as his favourite driver. On the other hand, the Jetta also has a turbocharger; so maybe just unfortunate timing? There is no information as to the conditions of both drivers. Online chatter Cue generic comments blaming the VW. Running a red light and immediately getting hit is pretty funny karma. Interestingly enough, the watermark in this video was significantly larger and partially obscured the important bits of the video. This didn’t escape netizens’ attention, leading to ridicule. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 15. The karma in this one was instantaneous. It hit like a taxi, in fact. What happened? An MPV tried to run a red light just in front of Lau Pa Sat at Raffles Quay. At this time, a taxi was moving forward as the green light had just come on for its lane. There was no visible attempt at braking on the MPV’s side. This resulted in a T-bone as the taxi was perfectly positioned to hit the side of the MPV as it was moving, causing it to lose stability and flip to its side. I’m also suspecting that it’s a variant of a Toyota Alphard because the front grille looks remarkably similar, but the fog lights are throwing me off. I also like how in the video the other cars stopped for a bit to take in the crash, and then moved on with their day and carried on lol. Online chatter There’s no sympathy for the speeding MPV of course. Some people were concerned for the taxi driver and the road. Writer’s thoughts: Besides that, do drive safely everyone. Better to be late than risk your health or a few thousand in damages (if you're lucky). ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 16. TL;DR: A motorcyclist on BKE knocked another bike down and sent both parties off their bikes, skidding across the road. The rider at fault was surely having a good time going fast, feeling the cool night wind against them as they wove through traffic. However, they wove one too many times, and are now likely facing a lot of trouble. What happened? On 21st March 10.40 p.m, at Bukit Timah Expressway, two motorcyclists went into each other after one of them did an abrupt lane change at high speed without even a turn signal in order to exit the expressway. The rider who got hit was knocked down first before the rider at fault knocked into a car and off the bike, as well as their passenger. The condition of the bikers and the pillion rider is unknown. Online chatter. Naturally, a lot of people are commenting against the biker who attempted the lane change. Others hoped the pillion rider was ok. 17. TL;DR - Luck hasn’t run out for this PAB food rider as he speeds through the red light and almost gets banged by incoming traffic Presenting to you one of the top idiots in Singapore. Watch this 34-second clip to see this ballsy man who gave no !@#$ about traffic rules and almost getting himself rekt. What happened? A hairbreadth escape for the PAB food rider as he dashed through the red light and almost got himself killed by incoming traffic. But I guess it's just not his time to go yet. Almost a Code Blue for this man. The safety of food delivery riders have been in the spotlight in recent years, especially so when we’ve been seeing so many cases of these riders flouting road rules and ended up getting injured or killed in the process. It seems as though there isn’t much training nor emphasis done for these food delivery riders since they are able to so easily bend traffic regulations. Online Chatter Is it just me or is his drifting skills kinda funny? A narrow escape for this man, definitely a close call. No matter how urgent the delivery is or how good the incentives may be, one life lost is one too many. 18. TL;DR - An accident involving a Ferrari with a Singapore-registered licence plate and a Toyota Altis occurred in Muar, Malaysia recently. The result of letting a 22 year old drive a ferrari… Here’s some pictures of a $600k supercar losing the entirety of its value in different angles. And a beyond damage Altis. What Happened? An accident happened after its driver failed to control the vehicle while on Kilometer 144 North-South Highway northbound, this morning. Muar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said, in the incident at 7.25 a.m., a Ferrari driven by a youth from Singapore had rammed into the back of a Toyota Altis ridden by four local men in their 50s. "The accident is believed to have occurred when a luxury car driven by a 22-year-old Singaporean that was on its way to Kuala Lumpur crashed into the back of the victim's car which was in the right lane. "As a result of the accident, both vehicles have crashed to the right of the road and resulted in all Toyota Altis passengers suffering minor injuries," he said when called. 19. A van hit a child in a baby stroller today at a carpark in Woodlands St 32, resulting in the death of the child and injuries for their brother and mother. What happened? It is believed that the mother was beside the red taxi shown in the video, pushing the stroller out of the carpark. A loud bang was heard when the van hit the stroller, and onlookers rushed to help. An ambulance was called immediately but to no avail as the child had already passed away. The mother was seen screaming and crying in despair. The child’s brother was in a similarly distraught state, jumping up and down helplessly. 20. TL;DR - Double whammy as a BMW X6 crashes into building before taking out nearby pedestrians at Jalan Besar At this point, it’s not safe to be anywhere. Even on pavements, there’s a risk that a pedestrian gets hit by vehicles. Here's an example. Watch this 89-second clip of the crash. What happened? The driver of the BMW X6 lost control of the car and went head on into the building (right beside Hotel 81…) at Jalan Besar. He also took out the Mayo Street road sign. Hello LTA? If you look closely enough (at the first three seconds), there was a male pedestrian wearing white who seemed like he got caught in between as the car literally rammed towards his direction. Hope he’s okay... Online Chatter The comments were pretty brutal, everyone seems to be putting the blame on the driver. Which makes sense but of course, we shouldn’t be too quick to judge since we do not know the full story. He seemed fine (and weirdly calm) though since he was able to get out of the car without assistance and strolled to the other side. Some sharp-eyed netizens noticed the striking white and blue Hotel 81 signboard just beside the Cheers convenience store the driver crashed into. Oooh steamy...? I mean the car as it got busted. 21. TL;DR - P-plate Honda Jazz collided with a lorry and smashed into the road divider, resulting in a massive traffic jam as lanes were blocked. Watch this epic 33-second clip of the Jazz getting rekt by the lorry before going head in on the road divider. What happened? The ballsy P-plate Jazz driver allegedly sped and crashed into a lorry, cannon into the road divider before overturning. Turns out the car is also rented from Tribecar, as pointed out by netizens who spotted the decal. Mad accident that definitely could have been avoided if the driver was more cautious. Especially so when she is still under probation. The accident not only caused a crazy jam along the Pan-Island Expressway on a Saturday afternoon, five of them were also conveyed to the hospital. Aiyo, don’t need to action lah… Anyway the car no turbo! Also, side note, can we talk about how impressive the ComfortDelGro taxi was, to be able to shun the Jazz so swiftly while still staying in lane after. Fast reflexes man, thumbs up for you! 22. TL;DR - Errant cyclist tailgating another cyclist falls after accidental collision. This epic fall shows exactly why cyclists and motorists do not get along. Humpty Dumpty moment. Watch this 30-second video to see how the cyclist collided into another fellow cyclist along Beach Road. What happened? A group of cyclists were cycling along Beach Road when one of them came into collision with the cyclist in front, resulting in him falling over on the road. As seen in the clip, the cyclist did not take any safety precautions as well, such as by wearing a helmet, nor does he have any front/rear lights on his bicycle. This lack of safety measures makes the cyclist a road hazard, putting not just his life at risk, but also for other motorists and road users. Online Chatter This is why cyclists are better off on walkways. This is also another opportunity for motorists to call cyclists on the road, road pests. Takeaway To ensure road safety for themselves and other road users, cyclists are advised to wear the appropriate riding gears, enhance visibility by installing bicycle lights, and adopt safe cycling behaviors and habits, such as keeping a safe distance and riding in an orderly manner. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 23. TL;DR - PMD rider and ComfortDelGro taxi driver making a big fuss over road blocking, argument ended up being a battle of cussing at each other's parents. ‘Guai-lan’ or childish? Or both? Watch this 88-second video of these two idiots disputing over something trivial. What happened? A PMD rider and a ComfortDelGro taxi driver get into a heated argument over road blocking. In the video, the taxi driver lashed out at the PMD rider for road hogging while the PMD rider claimed that he did not see the taxi behind, thus blocking the road unintentionally. This misunderstanding blew up which led to the whole scene of them ‘kpkb’ at each other. In the midst of this intense squabble, both parties were crying father and mother; basically revolving the entire feud cursing each other’s parents. Two grown-up men engaging in such childish behaviors, not cool man, not cool. Is this the new way to get to know each other? Damn, feels like I’m watching some Hong Kong drama. Online Chatter Feels like a catfight but this time with two men whose ages probably add up to >100 years old… From this we can clearly tell age does not define maturity. Watch this 34-second video of the 428 looking like an ultimate driving machine. What happened? The driver continues to speed on the road despite the front wheels busting in smoke. A smoking hot ride for this BMW. An online netizen happened to see this incident in real life and said the BMW also gave off sparks. Not sure about you but that sounds extremely dangerous to me. The car seems to be on the verge of catching fire and it doesn’t help that BMW is also notorious for such recalls in the past. If you see someone driving a BMW, stay away! Online Chatter When your girlfriend says “I’m home alone” so you rush off with a flat tire as you should. 25. TL;DR - A van driver was caught physically abusing a female passenger by grabbing her head back and forth. It seems like they were in a heated argument where the man loses it and trashes her. Controversial topic but agree to disagree: Chivalry is dead (almost, kinda?) Watch this 26-second clip of this vulnerable passenger getting whacked by the driver. What happened? It is apparent that the driver was physically (and highly likely, verbally) abusing his passenger. Judging from how violently he threw her head, it was definitely a very, very heated argument. The defenseless was also seen bending over to a vulnerable state. Poor thing. It seems as though the violence continued on for quite some time. As much as we do not know the context of the situation, I, for one, believe that men should never resort to violence, especially on a susceptible female. And of course, violence in itself does not resolve anything. Online Chatter Unfortunately, not every girl gets to be a passenger princess. Was this man trying to practice his WWE headbutting stunt on her or something? Ok but for real, no matter what, a man should never lay hands on a female. NEVER! Takeaway No matter how good you are at multi-tasking, you should not drive and argue simultaneously as driving requires maximum concentration.
